Summoned Demons

Well I think we have to assume it's limited to 10; EVERYTHING is.  I don't see any 3rd circle being tough enough to go up against the UC or anything, and you can't think for a second that the UC isn't more powerful than most 3rd circles, if not all.  I mean, the original primordials put a gaes (sp) on them to stop them from revolting.  If a 3rd circle demon could smack down the UC, why would the Primordials have even bothered?  The Celestials would have proved no threat at all, or at least one not worth putting a gaes on.

After all, the Solars have invested in them but a fraction of the UC's might and they can take on 3rd circles from time to time.

Where is this Essence 10 cap from?
Perhaps it may apply to PCs, but in general?
Acutally, I think when something is so weak that it needs stats then the cap is 10, if it is more powerful then stats are unneccessary anyway.

And yes, 3rd circle demons definitely need stats, they are not the end of the world or so much more powerful than an experienced solar, otherwise creation would have gone tits up a long time ago.

In my opinion, anything that powerful without stats listed is beyond the capability of any young Solar and will rip their spine out without even breaking a sweat.  For instance, let's say that Ligier has an Essence and Willpower of 20 combined, which is probably too low, but let's keep it in reason.  An Essence 5 Solar with a Willpower 10 would have a maximum of 90 Essence to spend on the casting.  That would give her, after paying for the spell and reducing Ligiers Essence plus Willpower by six die, 0 Essence and a simple 1 die advantage of Ligier in the summoning, and that's if Ligier doesn't cheat.  If Ligier had an Essence 7 Charm, for instance, that allowed him to spend 5 motes per die to resist any summoning or banishing attempt, with a maximum of Conviction plus Essence in dice, he could spend 75 motes, half of his Essence Pool, to give him a fourteen die advantage over the sorceror.  The sorceror is then toast.

Mhmmm, you daaaaaaaaaamn right *talkin' 'bout Ligier!* It's a sure fact, an 5 Essence Solar, unless he's really, REALLY good at what he does, he's going to get anally raped six ways to Sunday by a Third Circle demon if they so choose. Unless...they'd rather amuse themselves with a task...

One might assume that Ligier is the most powerful 3rd Circle Demon. The recent write-up for 2.0 states that Malfeas is the most powerful of the Yozi, and Ligier is his fetich.

While no 3rd Circle demons should be pussies, it's likely that some are significanlty weaker than Ligier.

At least when we're talking about the level of butt-whoop!

I can see ancient craftsman 3rd circles, exceeded in ass-kicking power by some of their 2nd circles, but archiving all the knowledge since the start of time or some-such.

Whilst I don't think 3rd circles should ALL be unstoppably powerful in combat, I think they should all be super-powerful in SOME area, but it lore, combat, crafting, investigation or somesuch.

That's what I mean, usually it will state their specialty in GoD. But for Ligier specifically, it states he is a craftsman unparalled and he considers a small army of Terrestrial Exalted or a Circle of experienced Solar Exalted as a fair match. Good God. I know, I know, some Solars or Lunars have killed fetiches in single combat, but Jesus H, a small armyof Terrestrials or an experienced Circle? *shudder* I can't wait to maybe use him in my game ^_^

Yes, the Solars killed many fetiches. They did NOT however, kill Ligier. Maybe there's a reason for that.

Yeah, I know they changed the nature of many a Yozi, such as Adjoran, the Silent Wind. I forgot her former name, I think they mentioned it in GoD. But yeah, there's a damn good reason they didn't beat Ligier, melts mountains, kills armies of Exalts, yeah, there's a reason.

I wouldn't say that they didn't beat Ligier because he's tougher than they were :S  I'd say he coulda taken a couple of Solars, but if they wanted to get rid of the bastard, I'm pretty sure they could have done.  I mean they took down Primordials; as tough as a Fetich is, he ain't THAT tough.

Now Second-Age Solars... that's whole different barrel of fish :P

So, if he was loose, we'd have to depend on Lunars to save Creation? They're the only ones with enough Exalts who are old enough.

I think you can kinda depend on the Realm as a whole to take him down...

Hell, I think just Lookshy could do it, though it'd severely devastate their forces.

And I dunno whether the DLs would be TOO pleased with Ligier running roughshod across creation, fucking with all their plans.

That's a point, how do we think he stats up compared with the DLs?  Do we think FaFL can whuppance him?

Problem is, Kajata, the Deathlords have almost no pull in Creation at the moment, the only two who do? MoW and Lover Clad in Raiment of Tears. They have a good amount of influence, and the others...just don't have much influence. None of them are even known in Creation. Most people think Mask of Winters is the only one really. He's the most well known and feared, not to say they wouldn't be worried if someone like ligier was tooling around Creation.

Seriously though, Deathknights wouldn't step, not really unless backed by a massive army that may or may not mean a damn to fighting Ligier, because I can guarantee he wouldn't be alone. He'd have human and demonic followers, think something like the Lintha. I'm sure of it. The Deathlord's are cunning, patient, as are the Yozi's they normally wouldn't play their hand. Mask, FaFL and Walker in Darkness have their own goals and it would take a lot of their resources away from the inevitable pull of Oblivion to smiting something like Ligier. They'd rather go through their masters.

Actually, Boddhisatva Anointed by Dark Waters is the ruler of Skullstone Archipelago, isnt he/she? That's a pretty official position, where the dead all occupy positions of power in "normal" society.

Ah, the Silver Prince, where everybody knows your other name. Funny thing, I think it's been said in a few of the books, most outside of Skullstone know about the dead's high favor and power there, they just don't know the Silver Prince is a DL if I can remember.
