Summer Camp Friendship {AnarchyReins+KatieFoo32}

No its totally okay. I too was once where you are.

So I am thinking of just go with it. So I will post , and you can just go form there. Sound good??

Marcus walked into the campfire pit to get a seat for the bonfire tonight. He had on a sea green hoodie with the sleeves pulled up, and a pair of black faded jeans. He went to the seat by the guitar, and he picked it up. He didn't know who's it was, but he picked it up anyways. He saw the music for the songs they were going to play. He started to play the chords, and lightly sing the lyrics, not noticing if anyone was coming.

Ashlee had always loved this time of year. The sound of crickets chirping, the smell of the campfire...and the sound of someone playing guitar.. Her guitar. She approached the stranger who was strumming her wooden instrument. "You're new here right? How long have you played?" She smiled and put her hands in her shorts pockets.

Marcus was surprised. "Oh for a few years. Also sorry for not asking to play your guitar. I'ma new camper this year. this is a pretty cool place though." Marcus said as he took the guitar strap off, and handed it back to the girl. "I'm Marcus by the way, and any time you just want to listen to the songs at camp fire, aI would be happy to play for you." Marcus said as he got a bright smile on his face.

"I didn't say you had to stop playing.. You sounded good", she said as she toyed with her hair a bit. "We were all new once..Camp has always been one of my favorite parts of the year." Ashlee noticed the air beginning to cool down as the sun began to set. Time to start enjoying the fire and warm up. This Marcus guy seemed different than all of the other campers she had known, but she couldn't put her finger on what it was.

"Oh I can keep playing if you want." Marcus said as he blushed a little form the compliment. "Hey its getting kind cold you can wear my hoodie if you want?" Marcus offered as he too felt the air get colder. "I mean only if you want to. I was just offering, because it seemed like a good idea to do." Marcus started to ramble because he felt embarrassed.

"It's very nice of you to offer, but I have a jacket in my bag. Wouldn't want you getting cold." She slid her drawstring bag off of her shoulders and grabbed her red zip-up jacket. It wouldn't match the camo shorts she was wearing, but she shrugged it off. Who cares...and its getting dark so hopefully no one notices. Ashlee had never been one to care about what people thought. She'd always been a tomboy, and matching clothes and planning outfits was not her first priority.

So do you want me to play with you for camp fire?" Marcus asked as he kept play the song that was in front of him. "I could just run to my char, and grab my guitar, and be right back here." Marcus offered because something about this girl made him want to hang out with her. "By the way you are rocking those camo shorts." Marcus said while starting to snicker a little bit.

"Hating on the shorts... wow.. Sure if you want to grab your guitar, we can try to work some sort of duet out." Normally, this type of behavior would be out of Ashlee's character. Normally she would have quietly strummed the guitar for her own enjoyment, and gone back to her cabin and read with a book while everyone else enjoyed doing different social activities, but something about the Marcus made her want to try being different.

Okay be right back." Marcus ran to his guitar, and brought it with out its case. He came back breathing a little irregular. When his breath came back to normal he said, "So is it alright if I play the music with you for camp fire tonight?" Marcus asked as he smiled, because this was the first real friend he has had in a while..

"Yeah, I think I'd like that" she tried to hide her smile. Guessing by his being out of breath, he must have ran back to the campfire pretty quickly. Ashlee felt a spark of joy. Maybe this Marcus would make camp even better. She hadn't had a close friend for quite sometime after Jake...

Marcus was excited to play at the camp fire. Though he was really excited he was able to play with the new girl he just met. She seemed like a pretty cool person. "So Ashlee what song should we do first?" Marcus asked as some of the campers started to come to the seats around the camp fire.

"How about this song?" Ashlee says as she pulls out the sheet music. "The question is, which one of us is singing? And you can pick song number two. Sound okay?" Jake was the only other person that Ashlee had played with. Gosh, she missed him so much. What would life be like if he was still here...? Maybe she would never have started talking to Marcus. Actually, Ashlee thought to herself, he actually looks kind of like Jake. The way he is standing. Maybe that's why its so easy to talk to him...

It sounds good. You could sing this one, while I sing the next song." Marcus said as he started to play some of the chords, so he could memorize them before they play it. "Your voice would probably sound better with the song than mine." Marcus said as he stopped playing the chords, and looked up at Ashlee.

She closed her eyes as she started to sing softly. As Marcus started to play the chorus chords, she began singing louder and with more confidence. ~So cover me, with a red sky tonight...~ As the song approached its end, she opened her eyes and looked at Marcus. The campfire light was reflecting off of his face. He seemed to be illuminated with an internal joy. Ashlee filled with warmth from the thought of making someone else happy.
