She uses a wheelchair, but her condition has severely decreased her potential quality of life, caused her a great deal of grief, and also costed her family a fortune in medical bills. Following that, another issue is her use of drugs. Nari practically functions off of ecstasy, and will often go to ludicrous lengths to get it. Finally, she has a somewhat problematic relationship with food. Due to her poor family status, she tends to not eat, or eat very little. It's also worth knowing that she has a thick accent, and has been mocked relentlessly through it over the years.
Her home is small. One story, two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a combined living and dining room, a small kitchen, and a basement.
Style-wise, Nari almost entirely wears dresses, as she finds them easier to get on. Her clothes tend to be on the cheap side, but she likes them to at least look cute. Lots of pinks and pastels in her closet.

No, but really. Nari was born in Japan to two hardworking parents, and with an older brother. The earliest years of her life were relatively normal. She was a baby, she did baby things. But her life changed suddenly and dramatically at the age of ten, when she and her family were caught in a car crash so bad it flipped the car right over. Her father was killed. Her mother and brother survived with minor injuries, and while Nari was alive, she found that she couldn't move her legs. Her whole body below the waist was paralyzed, and most likely, Nari would be wheelchair-bound for the rest of her life.
It was practically impossible for her to even get to school. Tokyo is insanely crowded, and its trains are packed like cans of sardines. Even with assistance from her brother, it was very difficult, and her mother couldn't help due to an extremely tight work schedule. Nari was missing days upon days of class and quickly falling behind her peers. With no other choice, her mother was forced to hire an in-home teacher. But all of these bills were adding up, and her now-single mother was barely able to keep the house functioning. She decided that Nari, along with the family's pet rabbit, would go to Canada with Nari's aunt Tamako.
Tamako was not well-off in the money department. Living in the slums of Rosetown, she absolutely didn't want to take in her disabled niece and a rabbit, at least not until Nari swore on God she'd get a job as soon as she could. Having developed an at least moderate fluency in English, Tamako decided she'd accept it, and took Nari in as her own daughter. Nari was pushed onto an airplane by herself at age fourteen, with her rabbit in a small carrying case by her side.
Her aunt was not a nice or soft person. She physically abused Nari very rarely, but verbally abused her often. Their interactions were often harsh, with Nari shutting down and Tamako relentlessly berating her until she'd had her fill and going to her room. Not only that, but in school she was bullied heavily due to her accent, and even occasionally sexually harassed by classmates who knew she couldn't really get very far. All of this caused her to draw into a childlike persona, that was powered by intensive drug use. She'd often rob her aunt to buy ecstasy from her dealer, at least until she was old enough to work part-time at the local pet shop. Then she'd just spend her paycheck on it. Every other cent was and still is used to pay for her pet rabbit, who she loves dearly.
