Sudden Inheritance

Marius may have claimed that he left because he had work to do but in actuality he left so that he could meet with the others. Nearly every one of the servants on the property were gathered on the south end of the estate, outside of the wall and out of sight. Marius, Dorian, Halina, a red head wearing cameo, and a rough looking man with black hair tied in a low ponytail, where staring at the wall with caring levels of worry or anger etched upon their faces. "I cant believe this is starting already, how did they find us?." Marius said as he stared intently at the corpse of a rabbit pinned to the wall with the word 'Warning' written in the poor creatures blood.

Dorian stepped up as he removed his white gloves, "They must have been keeping an eye on her at the orphanage, just as we were. My guess is that when they saw Halina, they knew we were already involved and decided to wait since they didn't want a bloodbath to happen as we protected Miss Azzakar. Now that we are here, they are trying scare tactics to draw her out of the safety of these walls. Idiots." Dorian had been speaking matter of factually up until the last word which he growled. A dark look passed over his face and remained there even as he removed the blood soaked rabbit from the wall and threw it at the already furious red head "Take care of that. You-" he sharply said pointing at the rough looking man, "You go find them, they must be living nearby if they are able to do this and get away before we notice. The rest of you, whenever you are not with the princess, do what you can to find out rumors, find out how far the Lords death as reached and even more so, find out who knows about Miss Azzakar's arrival. I don't want unexpected guests, friendly or not. GO!" He shouted when they didn't get moving right away. Once he was alone Dorian took to cleaning up the blood which only moments before was dripping down the wall. There was no change of Maven seeing it since it was on the wrong side of the wall but, that didn't make the warning any less acceptable to a butler.

Maven arrives at the kitchen, still trying to pep talk herself into being confident about the new life change... Completely unaware of any hidden dangers... "Hello?" She pokes around the room, but no one is inside. 'Well this is weird... where is everybody?' Curiously, she begins to explore, opening various cupboards and drawers. She knows if she is caught, her actions will most likely be frowned upon, but decides it won't really matter in the end. She had always had a fascination with kitchen appliances, and plays with a few of the stranger looking gadgets, wondering what they were used for.

Maven was wandering in the stainless steel, restaurant like kitchen when she heard the door swing open behind her. The sounds of angry muttering followed the creaking of the door, "That filho da puta. When I get my hands on whoever did that, I am going to-" The voice suddenly stopped when he saw who was in the room with him. "Minha Senhora? I mean, mistress, why are you here?" The twenty year old red head spoke with a heavy Brazilian accent. He emerald eyes expressed shock and seemed to be flustered that she was there, and for good reason. He wasn't exactly dressed for visitors, he was standing there in full cameo, holding a hunters knife in his hand as if he was ready to ponce on someone at any moment.

Maven jolts when the man enters with the gigantic knife, but allows herself to relax when he addresses her like the rest of the staff. "Sorry, I know you all must not want me in the kitchen... But I could't help myself! I read a book about making desserts once, and I've been curious about kitchens ever since..." She shifts awkwardly, unable to force herself to ignore the knife, "Well, I guess I was a little early for lunch... I'll go wait in the dinning room..." Maven laughs sheepishly, then scuttles over to the door.

"Wait, I really don't mind! You can come in here anytime you want, it is technically your house. I was just surprised is all! " The boy exclaimed with a chuckle as he sheathed the knife into his belt. With a wide open grin, the red head introduced himself, "Silvino is my name, I am the head and only chef here!" Silvino jumped, using his left hand to swing his body over the counter, in order to reach the sparking oven and turn it on. Maven could tell that he had an odd limp although from what, there was no way to tell. "That thing you were holding is just a corn stripper, it takes the kernels off. You know, I wish I had that fascination with kitchens, it would make my job a whole lot easier. The only reason I took this job was to protect you and make sure that we didn't over hunt the forest." A sad look past over his face as he thought about the poor animals pinned outside of the estate. With a deep sigh he turned around and perked up when he had an idea, "Do you want to help me make lunch? I could teach you how to make Mocha Pots De Creme." He said, the classic french dessert sounding a bit strange when mixed with his heavy accent.

Maven's eyes lit up excitedly at Silvino's invitation to attempt creating the dessert. "That sounds really great! Just be warned, I've never actually had the chance to make anything in a kitchen before... At least not one as nice as this..." She shudders for a moment, thinking back to some of the homes she had stayed in before, then smiles thankful for the manor. "So how long have you been working here? Did you know my grandfather too?" She heads over to him to start helping prepare lunch.

Silvino got to work with the more complicated parts of the meal while Maven chopped up some of the vegetables. "Only a few years now, I came here not long after your mother ran away and your grandfather returned. Grumpy old bat he was, but he knew his role here and performed it well so we rarely complained. My arrival here was pure coincidence, I was just passing though and got in a fight with Dorian over some... hunting laws. Surprisingly after we were done punching each other, he gave me this job even though I had only cooked over a camp fire before." The hunter chef laughed at the memory and threw the vegetables Maven had just made into a bubbling pot of stew. "Unsurprisingly, Master Louis didn't speak much to his servants unless you were Dorian or Aiden. If you want to know more about him you should ask them, although those two are fond of secrets so they may not tell." He shrugged nonchalantly like he was used to this. "Saw ahhh..." Silvino said, holding out a steaming spoon full of the soup.
