Subtle Seclusion

Meredith walked with Raphalo.

Her limp, as always, her shaking legs, they were very noticable.

She wasn't sure whether her Godfather was watching her limp or her legs. Stepping into her room, she stood in the centre, legs shaking as they always did. She looked back at Rafaelo.

"...Can you give me something... covering?"

Rafaelo's eyes softened and he closed the door with his heel.

"Of course, my Lady." Suddenly whipping a long black dress that had a white-diamond shaped corset designed on it's abdomen. Closing his eyes as he smiled, he did a gesture similarly to a person advertising something.

"Is this suited to your tastes?"

Meredith nodded.

"...That's fine, Rafaelo." She said. She didn't smile. She put her arms up, closing her eyes.

Without missing a beat just as Meredith's eyes closed, he quickly undressed her and put it above her head before pulling it down and guided her arms through the dress openings.

Doing the final touch, he knelt down behind her and started tying her corset.

"My Lady, is there something bothering you about your godfather?"

Meredith nodded slightly.

"He keeps... staring at me. I just sort of want him to leave... but we mustn't force him away. We must show hospitality..." She bit her lip. I just sort of want him to leave...

Tightening the bow behind her corset, he smirked.

"You can think of another option, instead of forcing him out, my Lady." Rafaelo suggested, standing up and walking in front of her before kneeling down again.

"If, you can think of any." He added teasingly.

"No, Rafaelo. You can't kill him. Not yet, at least. He is my godfather..." She trailed off, sighing. "Maybe you could talk to him or something... I don't know; We could go into London on the premise that we need to... Clear something up with the Scotland Yard." She bit her lip. "Just to avoid him. You know what, do as you see fit, whatever that is. You are the butler, after all."

Standing up from his kneeling position, he looked down at her, his smile was only a small line now.

"I forgot to remind you, my Lady. A fellow member of your family is visiting us, today." He started, nodding.

"And alright, my Lady. I will do whatever I shall see fit." Rafaelo said before striding towards her bedroom's door. Looking back, his smile returned, bigger.

"He will bother you no more."

He closed the door behind him before disappearing himself.

Meredith sighed. Damn it. She played with her hair. Looking over at the window, she again went and sat on the window-seat.

Meredith's godfather again looked up as the door closed.

"Where's my goddaughter?" He asked curiously, watching the demon. What's this butler pulling now?

An iridescent butterfly floated in through the window, onto the table. Meredith's godfather reacted on impulse, aiming the butter knife in hand at the creature's abdomen...

With a fluid movement of his own hand, Rafaelo slammed gloved hand on top of Meredith's godfather's own.

The butterfly was still alive and left unharmed. As it moved its wings a bit, it started to hover above the table before flying away, a golden gaze trailing after it before snapping it's attention before the dull, grey eyes of the man.

Rafaelo's grip tightened on the man's hand, feeling the pathetic human's bones slowly crack.

"Your goddaughter is perfectly fine. Nothing. To. Worry." He said slowly, entirely closing his hand and crushing the man's hand.

Charles winced, drawing in a shaky breath.

"What the hell are you?" He barked. "A monster? Some sort of vampire, werewolf or demon? What have you done to Meredith, you abomation?" He attempted to pull his hand away, breathing ragged."I knew it, too. I knew you weren't a person, you monster." He stood, throwing his other fist at the butler's face.

Meredith heard the commotion, yet she paid it no heed. The problem is being taken care of...

Rafaelo's grin remained but his grip continued to increase in it's strength.

"You're quite mistaken, Charles. All I've done to my Lady is offering her the best of care." He said, his hand suddenly removing itself from the godfather's broken one.

Before saying or doing anything more, Rafaelo added.

"But if you must ask...I'm pretty fly for just an ordinary butler, aren't I?"

After some serious ass-kicking

Rafaelo rubbed his gloved hands together after closing the coffin's lid. He strode over to the horse that was attached to the coffin and slapped it's back, urging the horse to move away.

The demon butler watched the horse disappear over the horizon along with the coffin. Rafaelo sighed and looked where Meredith was, at the window. A butterfly landed on his head and he lifted up a finger and it moved onto it.

"Such beautiful creatures...far more superior than the pathetic humans that don't appreciate your species..." He murmured, mesmerised by the soft motion of it wings.

Meredith watched as the coffin was sent off. Pity.

As Rafaelo examined the butterfly, she moved downstairs, coming outside just to hear him speak.

"Pathetic human, eh...?" She asked quietly. She looked at him, her purplish eyes meeting his gold ones, "That's how you see me, isn't it... I'm just a pathetic human..." She stated, sighing. "...I suppose I am fairly pathetic, arn't I?" The edges of her mouth turned upwards slightly.

Rafaelo's eyes saddened a little when the butterfly flew away, due to his Lady shocking it.

"Humans may be pathetic, but some are special. And you are one of those few, special, pathetic humans." He said as he brushed off imaginary lint from his shoulder.

"Should I remind you have family visiting today, my Lady?"

Meredith huffed.

"Bit late now, don't you think?" She asked. She looked out, out toward the sunrise.

"...I should like to go into London today, myself..." She looked back to Rafaelo, studying him. "Should that be allright with our day plan, Rafaelo?"

Rafaelo nodded, looking in the same direction as Meredith.

"I suppose so, It's unfortunate that we have to cancel their visit." He replied, his gaze still at the horizon while Meredith faced him.

"And of course, the only important occasion that had been on your schedule s just the visit. The rest of the day is free since your tutors are away as well."

Meredith almost, almost, allowed herself to smile..

"If we can leave, I'll stay here while you get the carrige..."

Rafaelo nodded and walked by her. It would be rude to make his Lady wait for a very long time, so he had already prepared and bought their own personal carriage and a chauffeur.

The gleaming black carriage was pulled by two, sleek white horses that stopped at the entrance of Caine Residence. The demon butler quickly walked back to Meredith and smiled.

"Your ride awaits."

Meredith smiled at him. Rather, she almost let out a smile, the edges of her mouth turned upwards - a rare occourance.

"Thank you, Rafaelo." She got inside, looking back at him. "Would you suggest any place in particular? I just want to get out of this place for a while..." She sat, watching Rafaelo. She enjoyed watching him move. It was interesting, she thought, how easily he could just force her down and take her soul, though she knew he would not. He would wait, if not until she was ready, then until his task was accomplished. She liked to test his patience. He had more tolerence for her that any person she could remember had had. She studied him. "Youre coming, arn't you? Are will you dawdle all day?"

Rafaelo jerked his head at the chauffeur and the chauffeur silently nodded back, ready to get going. The demon butler stepped onto the handing footstep of the carriage as it started to move, his thoughts rapidly trying to answer his Lady question on places on where to go.

"I suppose we can go to the market or the new circus that had just opened at the town square." He suggested, opening the door and settling himself down at the seat in front of her. "Again, there is no important events that I know of that involves you at the town, my Lady."

Meredith bit her lip.

"The circus is so... childish. I'd much prefer to go to the market..." She told her butler, smiling slightly. "Is there anything you could think we need...? Oh... I suppose that's none of my concern. You are the butler, after all..." She shook her head, unsure why she'd even asked. "Forgive me." She gazed out the window, watching the countryside flash by.

He raised a brow. Childish, she says. Thought it would be a good chance for her to lighten her spirits. He silently chuckled at his own thought, it won't matter. In the end, she's as good as any type of soul.

"Nothing at all. I usually re-stock our supplies myself, I only suggested the market just in case you personally needed something, my Lady." He responded, his golden stare focused on Meredith's face. Personally needed, something that he could guess but not be precise.

"...Can I get a weapon? A... handgun...? I want to be able to protect myself..." She asked, looking to her butler. "And then we can go to the circus, after..." She was still looking out the window, though she could feel Rafaelo's gaze upon her. "We're almost in the city..." She could see London coming up upon the horizon. "...That was fast..."
