There are three basic style of character pics in RPing. You have the anime, real, and I don't know the specific term, just normal art. which sounds about right since anime means Japanese cartoons, roughly speaking. I suppose RPnation has a good majority of anime lovers and I guess I shall receive hate for this but it needs to be done. Where do most people get their character pics? I'm sure some are quite talented and draw their own. However, for the most part, we look it up off the internet. Am I right? I assume that I am. Now... when you think about joining a good looking RP, Should you decide whether or not it is for you off of the character pics allowed? Well you can, but I'm sure that is quite a pretentious thing to do.I myself use all three types. I have three very well developed characters with the three pics above. I am not hating on anime, I am hating on the anime fan people. Yup, I said it, doesn't mean I hate every single anime lover. I myself enjoy certain anime's. A lot of anime fans are... blind and crazy. Sorta like console fanboys, you know the ones I mean. The ones who blindly and endlessly backup what they love. Which works for people, just not inanimate objects. You become stupid if you do that. You stop seeing reason and become some sort of Golem, worshiping your precious, straight to your death. Haha, look at me rant... Oh well... Hope y'all enjoy!

I mostly have an idea for a character when I join an RP, and then I usually also have an idea on what I want them to look like. So I mostly just pick something I find suitable and know already. Say I know an anime character that fits my needs, I google the character. Or a singer, for realistic images etc.


With realistic artwork, it's a bit more tricky, as I usually don't have a specific name avaible. i often save pretty artwork though, so I'll just go through my folder.

I don't join sites that require character images of real people. It's less "pretentious" (interesting choice of insults there) than simply that I find real-pic-only sites tend to be fairly anal retentive about a lot more than just that, with a topping of pretentiousness on top of that, ironically enough. Not a huge fan of anime-only sites either, though they're rarer, they tend to be shonen RPs rife with drama in my experience and I want no part in that either.


Beyond that, I have no real issues with any style, and have used them all in the past personally, though I generally stick to "normal art" images as a rule of thumb with a side dish of anime-style stuff as appropriate.
