Careful. You should take your time getting up. Trust me, you have plenty now. Hmm? Where are you? Nowhere and never. That place where time and space does not exist. At least not in a conventional sense. You opened the door here, your door here, when you performed the ritual. I know because I did the same thing. Turns out mastering time and traveling through it isn't quite like we expected, is it? We get sent here, the first time. Oh, don't worry, you're not trapped. You can still go and see the dinosaurs, or meet your grandparents, or whatever it was you wanted to do. You could even go to the future if you so desired, but I don't fully recommend that. You're here first though, because you didn't know how to aim. You won't until you come here and have a proper perspective. But that's all beginner's stuff. We'll get to it shortly. First, I should debrief you.
You came from mortal land, from time, from place, from an existence where you flowed with time. But now, you do not. You told time you weren't willing to go along with it, so it cast you out. This comes with some benefits. Such as, you no longer age - You are timeless – and you're going to be a lot harder to kill now. There are - as there always will be – drawbacks and consequences with all this, too. Mainly, you don't technically exist, anymore. No one will remember you. Every single last trace of you will have been removed from the world. You're family and achievements belong to others, now. If you try to tell mortals who you are, they won't be able to remember. To them, you are and always will be a stranger. Only your fellow time travelers can know who you are.
That is the first thing you need to know. The second: There are many secret things in the world. Occult beings that before, you could not directly perceive. A great many are harmless, least by choice, but a great many more are very dangerous. I've seen ghosts, and monsters, and on a few occasions, aliens. Of course aliens aren't particularly magical, not anymore than you were, but still, they're out there.
The third thing you need to know: There is a group of time travelers dedicated to... protecting the mortal world from many dangers and uncovering mysteries surrounding them. We're like, guardians. Guardians and sometimes, detectives.
Before you feel as if you've been entrapped into this service, I'll have you know that it is perfectly within your realm of choice whether or not to join us. I'll still show you how to get out of here if you don't wish to help us. Then you'll be free to do as you wish.
Who am I? Oh, it wouldn't matter if I told you or not. You can't hear my name, no one can. Because I'm the first, separated from the rest. By the smallest degree. So to you, I'm just a...
Stranger.
