Shey was leaning over the railing and breathing in the fresh sea air with a big smile on his face as the light winds caressed his skin and made it feel like he had made the right decision going on the cruize. He giggled a little and finally opened his eyes after what seemed like a long time to him but had only been a few minutes. "Oh being here is so perfect!" he exclaimed and almost fell off the railing as he lost his footing but in the last second managed to regain his balance.

Flashback

The morning had started by shouting and pounding on his front door. He knew who the voice belonged to, his greatest nightmare. The women was so loud he jumped out of bed and ran to the door before she would wake up the whole apartment complex. "Please don't be so loud the last time I was in so much trouble when you yelled so much" he said and stepped aside to let his sister in. He had no idea why she was even there. They never got along and when he was younger she had treated him so badly it was bordering on abuse. "Oh come on you little freak this isn't a visit because I want to be here. Like I would ever go to this neighborhood willingly. I have no idea why you insist on living here when we are rich. Then again it's better this way I get more money for myself. Anyway here" she said and threw an envelope at his chest "your mother insisted I give this to you as a birthday gift, you lucky brat" she said and after that stormed out of there without another word. He picked up the envelope to see it had a cruize ticket and money in it as well as a birthday card.

Back to present

Shey smiled despite the memory that had surprised him and half skipped and half walked towards the bar with a smile on his face. He would enjoy this trip and do as many of his hobbies as he would be able to. There were many opportunities to have fun and right now he wanted to try out the ships special cocktail. As he ordered his drink he turned around to look at the other passengers that were having a great time swimming in the pool, sunning themselves or chilling in the shade. "here you are sir. One of our special cocktails" said the bartender with a flirty tone and winked. Shey smiled and reached for it "thank you" and winked back at him before he took the drink, purposely brushing his fingers against the bartenders and walked towards a bench and took a sip of his drink.

Theo Drake paced the deck, almost feverish with worry. He knew it looked bad to the other men to be so anxious about this job, but for once he couldn’t manage to conceal just how nervous he was. Something just felt...off. It started when several of his fellow pirates decided to go on ahead, scope out the target, spend the first leg of the operation on board the cruise ship. He had wanted to speak up then, but he knew better than to try and talk a hell-bent pirate out of so firm a decision. But now, the night before they were supposed to move in, he could easily see this whole thing going to hell if one piece was out of place. What if the scouting party had discovered a problem with the hijacking but couldn’t communicate it? What if they couldn’t catch up to the cruise ship and their mates were stranded along for the ride or worse, if they tried to take over the ship by themselves? He shook his head as if that would shake the worrisome thoughts loose. He ran his hand along the rail of the ship, the worry lines on his forehead easing slightly. This ship hadn’t let them down yet. A modern day Black Pearl. The queen of the sea, he knew he didn’t have to worry about their ship. Cruise liners were big and slow, which was part of what made it such a clean target. This was just one more job, one more hijacking. Theo grinned, staring out at the great blue ocean off the bow. This was what he lived for.
He turned around to a tap on his shoulder. Rusty, one of the older men on the ship, smiled at him and held out a drink. “You look tense.”
Drake winced slightly and accepted the drink before turning back to the sea. “Sorry. I guess it’s just been a little while since we’ve have a job this big. It’s nothing. I’ll shake it off before tomorrow, I promise.”
Rusty nodded, leaning against the rail beside him, but he didn’t look convinced. Rusty had known Theo ever since he was taken aboard as a child and he still saw Theo as a child sometimes. “I’ll give you until the morning to work whatever this is out. But if I think you’re having doubts, I’m pulling you off the boarding crew.” Theo bristled in anger.
”That won’t be necessary, Rus. You know I’d rather die than endanger the lives of the crew. You can count on me for tomorrow.”
Rusty watched him for a moment without any expression then made a small noise and walked away without a word. Theo groaned softly and bowed his head slowly, his stress clear in the way he was standing. This had to go perfectly or he would be to blame.

Costia cursed colorfully as her book slipped off of the table. She was sitting near the edge of the ship, sprawled over a long chair. Strands of loose hair fell into her face as she leaned over to pick up the hardcover. When she hauled herself back up, Costia paused. Salty spray hit her face, and a slight breeze ruffled her hair. She closed her hazel eyes blissfully. Definitely a good idea coming here, she thought.

After spending a while perched on her chair, she got up. Methodically strapping her knee brace back on, she straightened to her full height. The steady rocking of the deck did nothing to help her limp, but she had grown used to the movement in her past couple of days here. Costia made her way past a couple of other people, giving a concerned glance to a male who seemed rather angry. Finally, she leaned over the rail. The sun glinted off of the water, sending a greenish cast over the deep blue of the ocean. A perfect day.
