RESTRICTIONS

As stated in the Interest Check, 2 - 3 roles will be reserved for characters who are true residents of Theosmati. In other words, they didn't isekai in. In addition to that, 2 roles will be allowed to contract with a King. These two aren't mutually exclusive.

AGES & ARCHEOLOGY

The Paideia is, essentially, a college. To that end, characters will be around 20 and up. You'll all also be included into the archeology club. Please let me know if you need help in thinking why your character would join there.

RELEVANT TO ISEKAI PEEPS

Your backgrounds can vary greatly from one to the next. However, there are a few points of similarities. Some of you might have been more casual in your perusal, but it's a fact that all of you have read the visual novel.

BE A STEREOTYPE

Literally. Pick a trope classic to dating sims and be that trope! There will be room for character development as you progress and remember more of your past life's memories. Big kudos if you craft that stereotype with nuance or develop that character through the story by playing around with the trope.

GRACE IS PERMANENT

Once we've written in the scene of the contract, your character's grace will be sealed. From that point on, you're strictly capable of manipulating only what was graced upon you. So choose wisely!

COMPLEXITY > COMPATIBILITY

At least, when it comes to choosing your grace. It's absolutely okay to choose a grace that's antithetical to your character's own values and personalities! It'll create internal conflicts, which means double the fun! (For us, the viewers, that is. )

ESTABLISHED RELATIONSHIPS

Both romantic and platonic relationships are highly encouraged! The protagonist yearning for their head-empty bestie? Kudos! A shoujo protagonist three-timing love-interests for that 'reverse harem ending'? Bountiful kudos! Friends who drifted apart after a terrible fight? Tear-jerking kudos! Rivals to an empire? All the kudos!

MAKE THOSE FEARS COUNT

I have plans of using your character's fears and incorporating it into the roleplay, so please have at least one thing that I can easily write a scene for! Something like spiders or heights.

Personality
Nikias takes everything seriously.

He’s taciturn, one to put as much effort into a simple group assignment as he would into his personal passion projects, and, perhaps, a bit of a nag. Maybe too much of a nag; he won’t let even his friends off if he sees them lagging in their duties, their reasons notwithstanding.

In such circumstances, he can be callous, too single-minded in his drive to push others to his perceived height of greatness. In his own thoughts: if sanity must be sacrificed to reach one’s full potential, then sanity be damned!

However, don’t take this to mean that he’s above it all. Because he really isn’t. Any casual implication of challenge is treated with all seriousness. He treats these competitions as measurements of his skills and worth. Losing time to time is only natural, though; thankfully, Nikias is a graceful loser. While he won’t be crying about it in his bed, he’ll leave, instead, with a renewed desire to better himself and come at them again. For as many times as necessary.

While it, by no means, excuses his actions, Nikias isn’t trying to hurt anyone. Not intentionally. He pours his all into those he cares for, but his form of affection is simply a little… twisted. Hopefully, he can learn in his time at the Paideia.

BEFORE NIKIAS SPYRIDON
His adoption into the Spyridon family was no mere accident.

The young boy had long heard many whispers through the slums, whispers that roused every settlement within miles of Vissarion. "'Clever' children," said his aunt one night, "to raise into bigshots. Pfeh." She handed him his meal, a few chops of fried eggplants with a slice of week-old bread. "Don't get them bright ideas in that head of yours. You’ll just embarrass yourself."

Shows what she knew, because that bright idea was already in motion.

Any moment outside of his usual labour was spent with the local clerk, a kindly woman who sought to impart the essentials unto the children. To read, to write, to count; he soaked it all up in anticipation for the Anax’ arrival. He was going to make sure he was one of the children picked, even if he had to fight off every other kid in that line-up.

Yet, when the day came, his chance out of the slums was snuffed.

His aunt forced him back into the house, locking him in before the procession could arrive. For your own good, she said. He could do little but watch through the chinks in the foundation, of the Anax scrutinizing each child before her. Asking them questions that should have been asked of him.

By the time he escaped, the Anax was gone. Everyone had congregated in the town square, disappointed faces all around. None, however, could match him. His aunt tried to placate him, assuring him of their place, but him? He would have none of it.

A few weeks after, he was gone from the house, a (crudely-written) note left in his place.

Of to Vsaryon.

FIRST ARRIVAL TO VISSARION
Would you believe it if a kid told you he’d travelled all the way from his small-town, through perilous sands and terrible foes, alone?

You shouldn’t, because that kid in question had a lot of help on his journey. Bandits, merchants, sabretooths, you name it. They all played a part in his eventual arrival into the verdant city-state of Vissarion.

Naturally, his first order of business was to find the Anax. A job that’s thankfully easier done than said. The guards stopped him at the gates, but after impersonating an errand boy, he was in. He faced quite a few dead ends and suspicious maids, but fate would soon bring him before the Anax.

There she sat in all her viridescent glory. One that the young boy wanted to emulate.

He told her of his adventures—of his , of his short term as a would-be bandit, of the people he’d met—and of his validity as a candidate.

She…

Said no. Told him to get back home before his parents call. To stop inventing such tall tales.

But did he give up? Of course not. He was having none of it.

It soon became a war of attrition. One that he’d eventually win with a new name.

AS NIKIAS SPYRIDON
Nikias wasn't the only orphan under the Spyridon name. He had a plethora of brothers and sisters, many of them younger than he was with more talent than he had bones in his body.

Still, he wasn’t without his merits.

He’s achieved much in the past ten years since his adoption. He built the Crystal Garden, befriended the other children from the Anax, and has become synonymously known as the heir to Vissarion. Official announcement be damned.

Life is, quite honestly, great for him. If this were a fairytale, the only thing missing in his life would probably be a princess to complete his tale. But it isn’t, and he’s got more important plans in mind, romance being the least of it.

GRACE COMPATIBILITY
Considering how gung-ho he tends to be in his endeavours, an argument could be made that he’d be a great fit for the Pyro nymphs. While that may be true, it’s not a perfect fit. His reasons have less to do with overall passion for a subject; instead, they’re motivated by the love he has for those he cares about. The only reason he can push himself is because he has a reason to push himself. Of all the elements, Cryo is the most compatible, exceeding far beyond Pyro and Hydro itself.

When it comes to the least, it would have to be Anemo. They prefer those who are curious. That’s something he can’t relate to, believing knowledge should be learned only for a greater purpose. That, and they’re far too flighty to favour him.

Standing at five feet and four inches and weighing 110 pounds, Eita has a fairly androgynously appearance. His eyes are sharper, but his face is more soft. He blames his softer appearance it on his shorter stature more than his features, but deep down he knows that it isn't the case. His blond hair is often left messy, but still presentable.

His skin is pale and free from blemishes, and his cheeks are dusted with light freckling, which he hates. His eyes a light blue, reminiscent of a clear lake, which he hates. His hair is a soft blond color, which he actually likes.

Cold, straight to the point, unfriendly.

That is what most see on Eita's surface level. It isn't wrong per-say, but there is much that can be elaborated on.

He has never understood people. Even a simple interaction was intimidating for him. The only defense mechanism he had was to keep everything short and sweet and then get out of there. As he grew older, his conversation skills did get better, but he still shies away from conversations with anyone he isn't comfortable with, which is most people, unless absolutely necessary. He doesn't mean to put up an icy front, it's just how he chose to protect himself.

Deep down, he is terribly insecure about his appearance and abilities. If someone tells him he is talented, he will thank them, and then cast the compliment away, believing it to be false. If someone says that his eyes are pretty, he does the same. Eita never feels satisfied with himself, he always is striving to do more, do better.

The one thing he does have confidence in? His intelligence. He's an observer first and foremost, taking in tiny details that most won't notice. It's something that keeps him grounded with things are tense, as if it were an anchor to reality. When someone tells him that it's amazing he picked up on such a little thing, a rare thing occurs; he genuinely smiles.

A young creative mind, blessed with the ability to move people with words and pictures. He had been a foreigner, brought to Japan due to his father throwing himself into his work, desperate the get away from the house that felt so empty once his wife passed away shortly after having their son, Beckett. There, he married another woman.

Beckett struggled to make friends, to fit in with his classmates. It was never enough, he was never enough. His frustrations were aired in a self-drawn manga, of which his stepmother, who worked at a publishing house, found, and took to work one day.

It was a hit.

Finally, he felt like he had accomplished something. He was a prodigy, under the alias of Mikoto Yukikawa. But it wasn't enough. It would never be enough. The fans must have wanted more, more, more, right?

Beckett did not go to high school. Instead, he sunk his days into drawing and writing. It was always a hit, but it was never enough for him. He had to keep drawing, keep writing, or else what purpose would he have?

His diet consisted of occasional junk food, he hardly ever left his room. But he was successful, but he seemed happy doing what he was doing, so they didn't stop him.

They went on a long vacation without him, because he assured them he was fine, he had to keep working, the deadlines wouldn't wait, he couldn't stop. When he didn't answer calls, they assumed it was just his normal behavior. It was fine, they knew he was alright.

It was only after they returned home, and opening his door did they find how horribly wrong they were.

Malnourished, slouched over an unfinished drawing, the art smudged with teardrops, laid Beckett, unmoving, unresponsive. The last thing he spoke to them about was a game, a sequel, that he said had distracted him from his work briefly.

Current Life
Eita Yukimura's family was never too badly off. They were average, living a simple life in Chrysos. An only child, he was his parents' pride and joy. They always encouraged him to keep doing his best with what he loved.

What they didn't realize is that Eita viewed things like 'you're doing great, keep on improving' as them saying he was not good enough. So he kept working harder and harder, just trying to reach the point where his parents felt he was enough. Being able to attend Paideia... that is when he truly believes he was enough for them. But not for himself.

- Irona's pale blue eyes and violet hair contrast heavily with the white outfit she almost always wears. Even in game she only seemed to wear something different during certain game events, such as wearing a halloween costume or a swimsuit, but afterwards it was right back to the usual state of affairs, despite this outfit visibly consisting of clothes for a very cold climate, even if slightly decorated with a set of blue ribbons along the sleeves, a yellow sweater underneath, and a set of blue animal ears that moves with anemo magic as a joke. If not for that blue though, she might very well disappear in the snow as her skin is likewise very pale. However, perhaps one of the most notable aspects of her appearance is how young it looks, as she could easily be taken to be around 10 years old if one went by looks alone... and the occasional behavior and sweettooth.
- Personality
  In the game, Irona was portrayed as a whimsical and shady character, with little outright known, revealed or explained about her. She was portrayed as an unscrupulous merchant just as happy to sell a weapon to the villainess as she would be to sell flowers for the heroine to woo someone. She sure had fun and made fun of things, but money spoke to her like a siren's call, and she certainly had ears that seemed to pick up on some of the deepest secrets. For the most part, the portrayal isn't inaccurate, though it's only touching the surface. She is indeed both quite cunning and very opportunistic, and tends to take as neutral a stand as possible in most issues, selling what people need those willing to pay a fair or undue price. She can certainly be quite attentive and mysterious, as she deals both with the simple, open side of the market, and those markets in the underground to obtain certain 'special' goods, and using her intelligence network of contacts, spies and the like to even gather and trade in rumors and other information. She views every moment with other people around and every conversation as a negotiation, even if there is no apparent trade, which leads her to be far more guarded than you'd expect from her energetic and cheerful way of speaking. In fact, she is rather playful and loves to do things like prank or tease people for a laugh, and wouldn't hesitate to badmouth a prince to lighten the mood, provided of course that potential client wasn't standing right behind her. Nonetheless, she continues to always observe people and try to find how to best appeal to them, but should any ask her about personal things, she naturally transitions into claiming a random obviously and ludicrous tale about her past or whatever the question may have been about.
  
  All that said, there's more to her than this. She is a shrewd strategical, calculated merchant for sure, but she is also someone who very much values hard work, because of the pick-yourself-up-by-the-bootstraps philosophy her father passed down onto her. She makes a point of compensating people who do her favor and is quite hardworking herself. Adding to that, she is a very honest person who would never break a promise or go back on a deal if the other side has done their part and she wasn't forced into said deal. Even when making up stories about her past instead of actually answering the questions about herself, she strives not to be deceitful by making those stories so obviously false they couldn't be believed. Still, those people were loyal in reverence to her parents still, and would work themselves to the bone without even having to be asked to do it. She then began turning her eyes to expanding her information network, as her guardian’s contacts were plenty but not all would be willing to work with them or be nearly quiet enough about it.
  
  If you want someone to do something for you, you get them to want to do it. So what she needed to do was find the people who would really want to do it. People who wouldn’t simply be her informants, but be grateful for the opportunity (probably because of the side benefits). With the funds from her business, she began occasionally making making acts of philanthropy, financing and helping to keep a dying family business alive, rescuing people, and it eventually came down to taking in some orphans and offering them work and a bit of education. Most of these things were taken care of by people Irona hired of course, since a child wouldn’t have been credible enough, and she only revealed that she was behind the action once the results had been achieved. It wasn’t as though they always asked for one to become another node in their network though, but instead an evaluation of whether they were a good person to make that proposal to was made, and if they were deemed to not be capable, trustworthy or thankful enough, they would instead be asked for some future payment or favor instead.

  Sarah Rosenbers - Irona likes to address people's personal desires, the deeper the better, but while she sometimes may seem like it, she is not omniscient. Sarah is the kind of person whose persona requires a lot of show any cracks, and who keeps a cold and calculated head on her shoulders while doing so. Put simply, there is little for Irona to latch onto, but she's too important a potential client for Irona. She often to poke and prod, to see what she might be able to catch Sarah's attention with, or better yet, what might get her to really buy in bulk. However, perhaps one of the most notable aspects of her appearance is how young it looks, as she could easily be taken to be around 10 years old if one went by looks alone... and the occasional behavior and sweettooth.

Sarah is both tomboyish and feminine. Past Self's Backstory:
Sarah's past life was pretty normal but it was life she wouldn't have traded for the world. Her name was Kasumi Taketatsu. She lived her Father and mother who owned a little restaurant. She was an only child never had any siblings. She did have friends though that she was close to like sisters. They even ended up forming a band where she was the rhythm guitarist and sung a little. Kasumi was also very into visual novels she had a bunch on her phone and some on her laptop. Kasumi always felt blessed for the life she had. She treasured her family and friends very much. But unfortunately all that would soon disappear. One night she was sitting on her playing this sequel to a popular visual novel. She had just finished one of the routes before she found herself dozing off into a deep sleep. Her parents found her passed out and unresponsive with her laptop sitting on her lap and on it was the menu to the game and the title song repeating itself over and over again.
Current Self's Backstory:
Sarah was born to the current ruling family of Chrysos, Rosenburg, her father, Isa, being the current Anax. For five years of her life she thought to be a only child until she was introduced to her half sister Ishild. She was actually quite excited to find out she had sister. But unfortunately they would never become close. Their father always seemed keen on keeping them apart Sarah's mother on the other hand thought differently and on occasion would let the two play with each other. As Sarah got older the busier she became any close childhood friends she had soon became distant friends. When she was thirteen her father informed her of her being illegitimate and that she needed to prove herself so she could become the future Anax. Sarah in the beginning did question why it wasn't her sister but her father convinced her that Ishild just was not fit for it. Plus, though Sarah would probably never admit this, there was undertone in that conversation they had that made it very clear Sarah did not have a choice in the matter. She was going to be the next Anax whether she liked it or not. Sarah had already been in training for Anax she was just now being finally told about it.

Sarah made sure to reach her father's expectations and made sure to be perfect in everything she did. She also became quite popular in the process ,people complemented her on everything brains, strength and beauty, everyone wanted to be her friend and even had admirers though she was never interested in any of them. Even though Sarah and Ishild were basically competing against each other. Sarah never came to hate or dislike her sister. Sarah had convinced herself this was all friendly competition. Though deep down a part of her must of known it was much more then that. Sarah is completely unware of the treatment Ishild truly received. Her father was usually good at keeping things from Sarah. He only told her things she needed to know nothing more and made sure to hide the things he didn't want her to know.

Sarah has made her father very proud and it seems her becoming Anax could be in the bag but....is it really something she wants? That's a question she doesn't like to think about. When it comes to questions having to do with her identity she tends to fully avoid.

Relationships/Current Thoughts: Ishild: Half sister - Their not very close but Sarah does care about her. Though the feeling may not be mutual.
Eita: Childhood/Distant Friend, Secret Crush - Their not as close as they use to be but that hasn't changed her feelings for him. She's not sure why but it feels familiar somehow.

Personality
Kai is a gentle soul.

He's a people-pleaser, to say simply. He can never really find himself saying no to those asking for help. Which in turn also makes him a huge pushover. Kai absolutely despises confrontation. And his way to avoid that is to always be agreeable. To never try and challenge ideas or opinions placed down by others even if he doesn't personally agree with them. However, it isn't like he's forcing himself to do this. Well, maybe he is, but he genuinely does enjoy helping people. He loves the idea of being a positive during someone's day. But this isn't all there is to Kai. Despite how relaxed and cheerful he always appears to be, he feels just as much stress and everyday struggles as everyone else. He just never shows it.

Kai has a very bad habit of internalizing his anger and negative feelings. So focused on only letting his good parts show out in public and not wanting to be an inconvenience to anyone. However, one can only store so much in one place before starting to seep out and eventually combusting.
Past
Kai was born to parents he would never meet for reasons he would never know. He grew up in a small orphanage in the city. Living most of his younger childhood there. Due to the setting, there was never really room for what he wanted. He did what the caregivers told him and all the other kids to do with no questions or complaints. He enjoyed the praise he would get from the adults whenever he did something good. Being one of the more mature and well-behaved kids, he was often tasked with watching the younger kids when extra help was needed in an already understaffed orphanage. He had even learned to cook at a young age from one of the nannies there. While far from the standard life of a kid Kai was completely content with this lifestyle. However, that all changed at 16 years old.

After living in the orphanage for over 16 years, the thought of actually being adopted hasn't even crossed his mind in years. So, when it suddenly happened it took him completely off guard. But it was an exciting change. He's never really been able to see anything other than the small area that surrounded his orphanage. So to move to a completely new place was exciting! And it turns out, the people who adopted him were a big high-class couple who was going around adopting kids from all over the world to give them better lives. The drastic shift in life was a bit overwhelming, however, not everything was completely foreign. The couple that adopted him adopted about 7 other kids as well. With Kai being the oldest at 16. And the youngest being only a year old. So, of course, Kai was the big brother of the whole group of ragtag orphans. And he took that role seriously. His everyday life was rarely about him.

He had seven younger siblings who he had to care for and be a good role model to. It didn't help that their adoptive parents were often too busy to always be home. Kai kept the house tidy, made meals for everyone every day, and helped each of them with their personal needs. Whether that be school work, playing with them, or whatever else those kids could come with. And he could never, ever, get angry at them. Or more he wouldn't let himself. They were just kids and he loved all of his siblings a lot. Even if they ruined his school work, or break something of his, or come crying to him over small things, make big messes he had to end up cleaning, complain about things that were out of his control, and so many more things. All he could do was make them apologize or cheer them up. It was an accident. He couldn't get mad at them. At this point, Kai was more of a live-in nanny to them rather than a son...they did pay him a hefty allowance though.

One night, however, it was the same as the rest, but one of his younger siblings showed him a new game they had been playing. Some sort of dating sim, visual novel...? He wasn't sure. He wasn't much of a gamer but he ended up giving it a try since his sibling seemed so passionate and insistent about it. He might have gotten hooked on the little game. Playing through a bit of the game every day before eventually reaching the end. Playing it one late night after a long day. If he ever recalls this day, he'll remember opening the game, watching the ending cutscene, then falling asleep shortly after. But he'll never be able to recall waking up the next morning.

Current Life
Kai grew up as the oldest of five. That includes himself, a brother three years younger, and a trio of troublesome triplets six years younger: two boys and one girl. With such a large family there was never a dull moment in his life. His father ran a tailor shop that he often helped with. Along with traveling out of the city to Amaryllis, where his mother was raised at. Despite his busy life Kai always enjoyed it. He loved helping his father in the shop, traveling with his mother, and spending time with his siblings. However, just because he loved it doesn't mean this is what he wanted to do all his life.

Kai's not sure what he wants to do. Yeah, he loves the tailor shop and knitting little things but it wasn't a passion. And the thought of leaving his family behind to find his own dream was conflicting to him. Why would he want to leave if he loves his family so much? Not to mention, someone has to look out for his younger siblings! It was this kind of internal struggle that has been on his mind for years. So many people around him seem to have some sort of goal they want to achieve. Even his siblings have ambitions they want to fulfill! So what can't he think of one? His parents have suggested that he becomes a chef. Which is something he has considered. Kai has just...naturally been good at cooking. Ever since a young age. When it comes to family dinners, Kai was always the one who made them! And cooking is another thing he loves to do. But it's less because of him just enjoying the process, which he still does, but he loves the positive reactions he gets because of them! The smiles he gets from others who try his food always make him feel so much better! Along with making him feel like he has a purpose. He's even sold some of his sweets and homemade meals. Allowing him to earn a bit of spare money on his own! Something he's really proud of.

When he came to that age where one usually starts applying for higher education he thought he try his luck. Maybe getting into a school and having a fresh start would help him find a goal! He had planned to attend a college in Malum to stay near his family. But to his surprise, he was accepted into Paideia, one of the most prestige schools in the nation! He only applied on a whim. He never would have expected to get accepted into a place like that. And even if it was quite a trip from his home, he wouldn't want to pass up an opportunity to study at one of the best schools there is.

Appearance
Alouette stands at a diminutive four feet and eleven inches⁠—but she will insist it's five feet even. She has shoulder-length brown hair and chocolate eyes to match. She has an average build, leaning a bit towards slender. She's usually dressed in long, billowing dresses that are both fashionable and easy to move in. For being the daughter of a rich family, she doesn't seem to care much about fashion and instead just throws on whatever clothes her eyes land on first when she opens her wardrobe. She has a rounded, almost baby-ish face, her eyes always wide and full of optimism. Atop her head stands two short, stubborn locks of hair that just can't seem to stay down. Refined, graceful, elegant... Alouette is not.

In front of her parents, maybe. In front of people her parents tell her to act modest around, definitely. In front of others who don't expect her to act a certain way? She is anything but.

Alouette has a rather informal attitude towards most people, especially when she's out on the streets of Malum. Even to total strangers, she talks as if they were an old friend. She's rowdy and fiery, but not unkind. This is merely her way of talking to others, friend or not⁠—though it does give mixed results. She's gotten on others' bad sides more than she cares to admit. Alouette has a softer side; mostly reserved for the small desert frogs hopping about in Malum. She loves those little things.

She hates boredom and would do anything to stave it off. A day outside isn't complete without her having some kind of dangerous experience, whether that be almost drowning in the rivers of Malum or almost getting into a physical altercation. She prefers to act first before thinking; her actions are mostly decided by whether it would be interesting to do or not.

Maybe a bit unexpected for her, but Alouette loves stories. She loves hearing about and creating her own; it's partially why she chooses to act the way she does. She firmly believes that, for her, acting like this would make her life more interesting than acting any other way.

On top of it all, Alouette is stubborn. Once her mind is set on something, she'll stop at... well, not nothing, really, but it'll be hard to take her mind off of it. This does make her a hard worker, at least. This also means she'd rather act tough and hide her emotions than admit anything that makes her look like she's anything but a cool young woman who brushes off every problem like it's nothing.
Current Life
Alouette was always a little bit lucky.

She was born in Malum⁠—the only child to a family of musicians, cementing her place in the upper middle echelons of Malumi society. Her parents were usually hired to perform at various events and festivals, raking in a significant amount of money from each event.

Unfortunately, this also meant that her parents were fully booked and working most of the time. Alouette spent most of her younger childhood wandering her home, annoying the cleaners and counting various things in it. (Did you know that the Saintilieu mansion has three large hallways, sixteen windows, seventy-three throw pillows, and at least fifty-seven sheet music stands? She still remembers those numbers, somehow.) Other than counting, though, she spent most of her days looking out of the window, staring at the riverways of Malum and waving to the people passing by on their little boats.

When she became old enough at around seven years old, Alouette was forced to take music lessons. She had to uphold the family business, after all. Her aunt ran the lessons, and while Alouette did technically keep up with them, she still only did the bare minimum.

One day, when Alouette was eight, her parents decided to take her to a festival for the first time. She spent the whole time holding on to her mother's hand for dear life. While this wasn't her first time seeing festivals, actually being in one...

Her head had started spinning that moment. It was a complete sensory overload. Alouette was sick for a few days after.

But the festival itself was fantastic. She begged her parents to let her go out more often. They refused, of course, unless she had someone else with her. She thought it was a fine bargain until she realized that her family wouldn't let her do anything fun outside, fearing a repeat of the festival incident.

That didn't stop her, of course. Since then, she had learned to sneak out by herself, often meeting up with the boy from her music classes who seemed to hate being there just as much as she did, and explore the Holy City. She spent her teenage life like this; sneaking out and exploring almost every day, avoiding the places she knew her parents had a job at so they wouldn't catch her.

It was only when her parents enrolled her into the Paideia would she experience true independence.

Past Life
Chika Ryuumine was... well, she was average, but her life was quite eventful. She spent her middle school years training in gymnastics. She went to competitions in her high school years. There were talks from her coach about possibly trying to get her into the Olympics at some point. Her future and even her retirement was pretty much planned out, and she was only twenty.

And then she fell on her leg wrong.

That stupid fucking high jump.

The injury was fatal. It was years of planning down the drain. What used to be days full of training became days spent lying down in her bed, staring at the wallpaper with only her phone and her books to keep her company. Her parents made sure she was okay, obviously; they were understanding and loving, but she could still tell they were disappointed by the looks in their eyes.

Their daughter, destined to become a young Olympic athlete, rendered unable to perform ever again.

It was hard to cope. Chika found that the only thing she could do was take her mind off of her situation, so she threw herself to video games and books. It was all she could do to keep herself from going insane in her room.

It was around a week after the injury when she discovered the otome game. It was suggested to her by her friends; they had been talking about it nonstop, it seems. She would remember playing the first few chapters late one night before passing out, her phone face-down on her chest. She would not remember waking up.

While Alouette is a shining example of possessing the determination and passion of the Pyro nymphs, she has more in common with the ideals of Anemo more than anything else. She loves the idea of being free and going where the wind takes her.

Alouette would not do well with Dendro. Having an adventurous nature, she would rather venture into the unknown and keep it that way instead of having it smoothed down into something cleaner and safer. It's simply too much to ask to give up the chaos of life.

Personality
Lavi is kind of a slacker. It's not that he can't do it, rather things come so simple for him that doing it doesn't challenge him. This disconnect makes him come across as irresponsible and lazy, but in actuality he's never come across anything that requires his full ability or an understanding of what the full extent is.

Due to the heavy focus on religion in his upbringing paired with his slacker aspects has caused Lavi to have a devil may care take on life. "If it is meant to be then it will be. No need to rush." Like a leaf in the wind he goes wherever life takes him.

At least that's the mask he presents to the world. A carefree slacker that just goes with the flow.

Under this facade Lavi is afraid. He fears he can't live up to the expectations that come from his abilities. He fears that he'll let everyone down. He fears that he'll be all alone. The facade exists as a way of preparing himself and those who know him for the moment he disappoints.

But Lavi doesn't know who he is without his mask.
PAST
As Sakamoto Okada
Sakamoto Okada, 29, was the son of a media conglomerate mogul born and raised in Tokyo. From a point as far as he could remember he was placed in the most prestigious academies to grow his abilities to some day take the reins from his father.

It was here Okada realized he was just like everyone else. Average. Mediocre. Normal. Though his parents tried to hide it, their disappointment was clear. From primary school, to junior high, to high school Sakamoto never managed to rank higher than the top 45%. University wasn't any better for him as he fell into the 55%.

He spent the remainder of his years trying to help out the best he could, and it was here he found his true calling, managing. Whether it be signing and making deals with new talent or even directing others to maximize their potential Sakamoto did it all.

Finally, after gaining the respect of his parents Sakamoto was content. While on his way home from a meeting he opted to walk rather than drive and enjoy the weather. Not paying attention to his right he didn't see the truck push on its brakes too late. The last thing he remembered was how he planned to tell his parents he was getting engaged until there was nothing but a bright white light.

As Lavi De Alymaruius
Born into the illustrious De Alymaruius Family of Amaryllis as it's second son, Lavi's formative years were full of studying and tutelage along side his siblings and cousins.

De Alymaruius is a name that's known throughout the land of Theosmati. Primarily they're known for their ability to procure the rarest of wares but their real crowning achievement that tipped them over the edge into being as influential as they are is that they deal in the art of secrets and rumors. It is how Amaryllis went from an off-shoot of Malum to nearly rivaling it in influence. Due to their connections as merchants it made becoming info brokers all too easy. Whether it be if one should buy in a abundance because soon the price of fruit will skyrocket or if the farmer down the road is skimming his milk with mostly water while charging full price. Or if the Anax of a certain domain is taxing his citizens over 30% more than average but the books make no mention of said increase.

And being a De Alymaruius comes with the expectations of greatness. Before Lavi could walk he was capable of reading. At the age of five he had already picked up his first sword. By the age of ten he had already made his first sale and brought out his first competitor and procured his first piece of information. A high priest of the church of the weeping eye swung from the noose the very next day, rumor has it he was using his position in a way that unbefit his station.

His oldest brother struggled with sword techniques he mastered years ago. His second cousin seemed to not be able to understand why their profits were decreasing when they had just signed a deal with the Alanis Farming family, a family notorious for skimming profits off the top. An aunt who had put herself in a bad situation because she decided to run hee mouth about a rumor but never verified its validity.

For Lavi it all came naturally so he never fully understood why the rest of his family struggled so much.

As The Jewel of De Alymaruius
After years of successes, Lavi soon became known as the Jewel of the De Alymaruius. It's crowning achievement. Lavi's decisive victory. There would be no inner family civil war like the previous generation. Lavi would become the head of the family once his time at Paideia comes to an end.

With his future all but assured Lavi can't help but ponder if this will be the time he finally fails. Everything else was just a cakewalk to leading the entire future of a city-state but will the challenge finally dull the luster of the jewel of De Alymaruius.

Alf is a kind person, sweet, lovable, and affectionate to the point it seems fake. He cares for even those who scorn him, there must be some motive behind it? He seems to lack substance in his personality, sugary sweet without a hint of bitterness, mind the rare moments you see a look of melancholy on his face.

Alfen doesn't seem to change.

Those who have known him all his life have always seen him the same, a great loving force, that appreciates even the simplest things in life, never one to take things for granted.

He is smart about his choices and a slight bit mischievous pulling the occasional prank or two, he trusts to the fullest of himself and can be seen as naïve to some. All he really wants is to be able to be himself around his friends without worrying.

The city of Malum rejoiced when he was born, a healthy, dazzlingly pretty baby boy.

Parties were thrown for weeks in the city celebrating his birth, cards and gifts sprawling across the halls of their home from proud nobles who vied to see the future Anax.

His parents were just as joyous with him. Their enchanting little treasure that they had been waiting for. Their son.

More importantly their heir.

He was raised with purpose and dignity standing at the forefront of a proud lineage. His parents were loving but tough, looking at him as a successor more than a child. He persevered despite the lack of parental love, seemingly grateful for his harsh parents.

He often felt jealous of his siblings who never got the same treatment.

There were 5 sibling that came after him, each much younger than him. They worshiped Alfen, being an ideal and strong older brother despite his issues. Alf reciprocated that love in full, their bond deep and heavy. He took on an almost parental roll in their lives. Alf knew his parents loved them sure, but he often didn't feel as such.

The only daughter of Anax Isa Rosenberg, Ishild was brought into this world with responsibilities and expectations heaped on her shoulders, and she had already failed twice in her father's eyes from the moment she was born. Her first mistake was being born a girl. Her second was killing her mother, ensuring there would be no boys to follow. Holding no affection for his daughter Isa shunted her away to a rundown house with only a few servants to raise the baby. For her first several years she was a normal child growing up under the loving care of her nanny and a couple of maids. She could always tell that there was something missing from her life, but it never mattered. She was happy. Until she turned five and the Anax came for her, dragging her back to his home.

Ends up that Isa had another family; a wife and a daughter that was too old to be conceived after her mother’s death. He’d had a mistress and Ishild’s mother’s death had been an opportunity for him to bring in his lover and their child, Sarah. He wanted her to be the heiress, but the other nobles wanted him to follow tradition and make the firstborn heir. So he brought Ishild back and made her heir in name while leaving room for Sarah to earn the title with his support.

Isa was not kind to her. He was strict and cruel, hiring the best yet harshest teachers to teach her, and if she failed to meet his expectations he would beat her. And if Ishild failed bad enough or showed any signs of resisting he would instead punish the people close to her. Whipping the butler who tried to help her, breaking the hand of the maid who gave her candy, her nanny being dragged away never to be seen again. Eventually Ishild learned to shut people out so that her father would have no one to use against her, and to excel at everything she tried, becoming Isa's perfect little doll. And yet still he was not satisfied with her and did not approve of her, favoring Sarah. Isa even betrothed Ishild to Nikias in a move to undermine her claim to the Anax. Even when she was accepted into Paideia de Amaryllia he still would not love her.

cyril will always have his signature silver cloak on top of his academy uniform, the inside blue, to top it off is an intricate family emblem. it's unlikely that one would catch him without it while at school grounds. asides from that, he has on a pair of black gloves - citing that his hands gets cold easily because of his grace. for casual situations and especially when with people he's more comfortable with, his choice of clothing can be a bit more modest, done to draw less attention towards him. usually this consists of a well-fitted shirt, a jacket, waistcoat, and trousers. strangely enough, cyril isn't picky about his footwear, so long as it's for the right occasion.

contrary to his frigid style, and appearance, cyril is far from what many might expect. what lies at the surface is an arrogant young man, typical, perhaps even expected from someone from amaryllis. when given the opportunity, he puts others down and subsequently make himself look better in comparison. however, deep down this pride and vein of self-confidence is due to a superiority complex. a mere commoner like him, having been surrounded by those he believes are of a higher league, he utilizes everything that he can pull from his environment as well as from himself to look well-kept. cyril wants to be a figure the people close to him can rely on, not the other way around, he doesn’t want the sympathy of others.

as harsh as cyril may be, he never kicks someone when they’re already at their lowest; he is mean but not barbaric. although nothing makes him more frustrated and livider than seeing others with so much be ungrateful. whether that be talent or good relationships, his feeling towards such people would encompass envy, veering into actual disdain. If trying to become friends with cyril was already hard enough, that would make it even more difficult. however, asides from this, he is very indifferent towards strangers, and acquaintances - having grown tired of expending any sort of emotional energy, limiting it to only family and good friends.

he had a normal childhood, while his grandparents were originally from chrysos, he's always felt like a native amaryllian (amaryllese?). despite being seen as a promising individual, he was always keen on who he was hanging around and felt like he had no true friends and that even his fellow city-state natives could stab him in the back. it seemed everyone hid behind a mask, so he didn't get too attached. coincidentally, this allowed cyril to devote more time to his family, especially his siblings.

as much as they bickered, cyril, his older brother, and two youngers siblings, a girl and a boy just a few years behind him, had strong bonds. they lifted one another up in dark times, and more often than not covered for each other when one did something that their parents could get mad about. this peace was swiftly broken when his older brother, cecil decided to explore the abyss in hopes of making advancements to the greater world and to uncover its mysteries. his parents weren't too opposed, and cyril and the other two encouraged him.

everyone knew the dangers and the tales, but cecil promised to come back, but after a supposed short initial expedition, minutes passed, and cecil wasn't coming back. cyril's heart dropped, and regret was planted in his heart. worse, was that his brother's disappearance was mocked, putting the family to shame. the following years, cyril focused on getting into the paideia and not make any more burdens for his family. cyril hopes that through the academy, he can arm himself with knowledge, power, and experience to be able to find his missing brother.

fate & misc. details
✦regardless of the player's chosen route, cyril fades into obscurity after the first arc, and makes way for the actual antagonist, the villainess. it's assumed he finished his studies. what happened afterwards and to his brother is unknown.

✦fans of cyril wrote angry reviews on how he wasn't a romanceable character and demanded for a dlc. the developers commented that it was to foreshadow the villainess with his theme and similar appearance and that it wouldn't add a lot to the visual novel, leading to some fans becoming even more upset, possibly contributing to the hiatus (?).

✦cyril's backstory isn't actually expanded upon in the visual novel, it's optional to find out more information about him by sneaking into his dormitory after the first arc. a diary will be on his desk, and reveals a few details about his family and his past.

Current Self's Backstory: Takeda was born and raised the first 17 years of his life in Aniketos, where he was educated in the ways of war, and taught from childhood how to wield a bow. However, his father unfortunately made the mistake of dreaming of a better life for his people. Before anything substantial was able to happen, his family, including his younger brother, were all slaughtered in the night. Only he was left alive, finding a card on his chest when he woke up, explaining that he was left to be the new ruler, and that he had better stay in line. Takeda despised this idea, knowing that he would only live the miserable life his father once did, and decided to take his freedom for himself. Faking his death, he made his way to Amyrillis, where he would join the military under the name "Minato Arasaka", becoming his new identity from that point on. Throughout the years, he would do mercenary work in his spare time, honing his bow skills to their best. With his goal of getting more powerful in both body and social status, he eventually realized that an education would be needed to help his climb up the social ladder, at least for networking. Seeing as chemistry would most likely be the most useful for his line of work.

Always sporting a bored and reserved expression, Leonardo Shou Tetsuya sports the best poker face anyone will ever see and he sports such a look near constantly. He constantly seems unamused or focused on something else that appears slightly more interesting, although his face rarely denotes this and seems to be constantly bored. When talking to someone, his face will occasionally light up with a little more energy and he will generally speak with respect and on friendly terms. His body appears to be fit and athletic, especially agile, and his eyes seem to do well, although he often wears reading glasses to magnify words on papers. When he does smirk or smile, it seems like he knows a secret or joke he is keeping to himself. His hair is usually tied back into a bun, and, despite his initial lowly status, wears rather professional clothing when out and about on important business. However, in the laboratory or in more casual settings, even in the school halls, Leonardo sports his large coat and more casual clothing, sometimes wearing the same gloves he used for his experiments. His orange eyes seem to be the most unusual feature about himself, and he regards his own features to be unremarkable and average-looking, although this may not entirely be the most objective case. Often when walking he carries himself with a casual gait, stuffing his hands into his pockets and peering off into the sky or into a book as he walks while expertly dodging and maneuvering about people, a skill he has long since practiced as well as instincts long since honed to detect people without looking at them.

Leonardo Shou Tetsuya, at his core, is a man who runs towards thing as much as he runs away from them. He runs towards different opportunities and places before what makes them so enticing and unique flickers and flares before his eyes. In a similar fashion, this is how he interacts with people. While normally reserved and keeping to himself, if he finds someone he may grow to like or finds their disposition or personality interesting, he may extend his hand out and offer some sort of meaningful relationship.

Despite his aloofness, there is a measure of compassion in his heart. An aspiring doctor who is furthermore developing the art of surgery and chemical anesthetics, Leonardo devotes himself to his inventions and studies for the betterment of his fellow man. While he may not have the best bedside manner, he is the kind of person who will fight and give his all for someone who asks for it. His loyalty and honest determination ensure that any task he undertakes will be completed effectively and efficiently. However, he is proven to be rather reluctant and lazy to take on any additional work than he has to, opting to focus on his experiments or his own personal studies. He hates being forced to do something, especially something he does not like. If he is forced to do it, he will either find a way to get out of it or find a way to get it down as quickly and lazily as possible. He loves to play about with words and wit, often opting for a sarcastic approach than a more jovial one if he feels annoyed or wants to get a certain points across. One may never know what might come out of his mouth, but it usually either important, to the point, or rather clever--at least he so believes. Cleverness can go hand-in-hand with funny remarks, but it may not prove to be the best strategy at handling all situations.

It is why he usually has a plan or two as backup if something goes wrong, either in dangerous situations or something as trivial as first impressions--which he already cares little for but, when there calls a time for being more serious about them, he may care for them on occassion.

Leonardo cares little for royalty, religion, or any other differences or silly ideas or topics. He much prefers his science and the known quantifiable facts of magic than the unknown and untrustworthy sources. In essence, he hates religion and the culture brewed around it.

While he will bravely enter the unknown, it does not mean he has to like any of the ideas humanity has associated with it. Leonardo likes discovering his own way and path through obstacles and challenges. In a way, it is what makes up his science. Trying new things and seeing what works and doesn't, all done in the name of a better tomorrow and better results.

PAST
CHILDHOOD
Leonardo Shou Tetsuya's childhood was rather difficult. Left in an orphanage of sorts to be brought up as a solider, Leonardo learned quickly the harshness of humanity. How there were no friends to be made, just alliances and gangs. He grew up in cruelty and fear, to be forced into a role he did not want. However, he found a gateway away from the pain. While they harshly trained his mind and body in the arts of combat, Leonardo instead sough solace in the soft safety of books and the arts. The different sciences and magics that had been studied. And somewhere, in those deep recesses of his mind, of his soul, his other self simply hid somewhere deep inside his mind, unable to reach out. A past life, a series of past lives, locked away and unable to interact or take control.

But fate, destiny, or whatever it is one calls it, works in mysterious ways. Or perhaps it was blind luck. Maybe the universe had a way of telling people that they could be more. That there was more.

Whatever it was, it happened to be enough for the child to know he wanted a different life than the one planned for him originally. A steely determination took root behind orange eyes.

PRE-ADOLESCENCE
Leonardo continued his training as a soldier but also showed promise academically, showing both wit and brawn. He read and studied in secret, stealing books and literature. All sorts of goods he procured through rather underhanded means. Still, there was nothing that could quite bring his mind from the oppressiveness of his home-state of Aniketos.

Eventually, packing up his things and wishing to gain a wider and more experienced knowledge of the world and its different magics and sciences, he left and never looked back since. He did not dare look back, no matter what. It was an old life he had to leave behind. He chose a new name for himself from that day on.

Leonardo Shou Tetsuya. That sounded respectable enough for his purposes.
ADULTHOOD
Leonardo visited many different states and areas: exploring in scholarly pursuits, wishing to gain new skills and talents, and training himself in a few different fighting styles. He learned a bit about the different methods of theft and crime as well as compassion and how each economy worked. In essence, he gained firsthand experience of many things during his travels as he read from his books and kept up with his training. He became very proficient at both medicine and swordsmanship, while being no stranger to marksmanship and chemical science.

He kept pushing forward, wanting to learn more, to be more. Be better. The best even! All in a pursuit of knowledge, of helping others, of doing what was right and best. New ideas and knowledge come to him in dreams, in waking moments, sprouting different thoughts of what could be. A curious nature that runs towards the future, stepping through the present, and briefly looking to the past for new ideas. Perhaps, his nature and reputation were among the reason he got an invitation to attend Paideia De Amaryllia. There all sorts of new and hidden knowledge could be found, new insights and individuals to learn from.

All he knew was that he had to accept. Something was calling him to go there, deep inside of his soul.

And so he followed what had yet to lead him astray.

Leonardo's greatest gift is his gift for medicine, whether it is designing a new medical tool via engineering or a new chemical substance to alleviate an illness. Leonardo focuses on devising new medicines and avenues of science regarding medicine, hoping it will open eyes to new ideas and concepts yet to be explored.

This school provides him the ample opportunity to prove himself and see to it that his ideas spread out among the nation to help all.
