[Stay Frosty!] Stay Frosty! Discussion

Ah, okay. Feels weird having a +1 with the synth. No luck roping in a replacement?

I haven't tried really hard. I would like to get a few more if I could, though. It would be fun to have another Squad in the same Platoon.

Call them the Red Bastards. The dashing new bloods who act like every formation is a parade, every meal a banquet. Then kill them off only to be replaced by another squad of the like-minded folk. :P

Hello.

I'm trying to understand the rules but it's all rather confusing to me. The only thing I've played is D&D 3.5. How does blasted thing work?

Edit: Whoop nevermind I got it. Where do I submit my info?

Edit edit: Whoop nevermind I got that too.

Awesome! Nice job figuring it out.

Just to solidify it for you, everything on the sheet is a fictional cue. To make a character, you end up choosing things from a list. First, you'll have to choose your playbook. So far, we have a Trooper, Medic, Sergeant, and a Synthetic.

Generally in these games, duplicates aren't allowed, but seeing as that would force you to choose Officer, I'm willing to allow you choose something else.

After you've chosen a playbook, go down the sheet, choosing what you want to fill in the blanks.

Wouldn't it be very normal for there to be multiple troopers? They're the grunts and cannon fodder after all. It is strange to me that this isn't normally allowed.

One last thing... I see everyone has already assigned their "bonds" (which I understand to be pre-established relationships with squad members). I'm out of the loop here and I don't really think I can be bonded with anyone if no one is bonded to me?

As I am a Pfc. Trooper I guess I can excuse this by saying I'm the new kid on the block, is that okay?

No, no, Bonds are monodirectional. One character can have feelings or attitudes toward characters that are not mutual, so you can assign Bonds to anyone -- how those bonds formed will emerge through play.

In addition, if you'd like, I'm sure no one would be hurt if I moved one of my bonds to your character.

Edit: and if any of this is incorrect, Wlf, feel free to slap me.

@Skrakes is right. @Cyrocast your bonds are something you choose for yourself and reflect how you feel about the other characters. You'll assign a number as to how well YOU feel you're bonded to another character, regardless of what the other character's sheet may say.

Example: I mark bond+2 for @Skrakes because our shared experiences have brought us closer together. That's, at least, how I feel about it.

On the other hand, @Skrakes marks bond+0 with me, thinking that I've had little influence on him or what he's thinking.

Makes sense?

I think I will go with my idea of being the fresh meat who hasn't met anyone. It is easier for me as I don't feel I can asses whether my character has bonds with anyone as I don't know any of your characters at all lol. If this is okay?

Sure, you'll have to set your bond at +0 with each of the characters. Which is fine with me, just understand bonds are rolled when you're assisting other characters.

Otherwise, your character looks great. Any other questions?

Wee bit of dissonance - Wakes noted we were on a street, looking at the signs of looting, but Skrakes' post puts us a short walk away in the jungle.

I love you guys. So much. I couldn't reply and you went ahead and RP'ed an awesome scene already, intros and everything. Awesome.

Side note: everyone can assess separately or you can choose to aid one another to get a better roll. You can always make aid choices after a roll, FYI.
