Futuristic Starpath: Burning Sails [IC] [CLOSED]

Shelby smiled and started to bounce on her feet, now having permission to finally do something worth her time. And that there were people around who could help, though she'd have to track them down, wherever they were. After a second she froze, having finally registered Lauren's last sentence. Her cheeks burned scarlet and she covered her mouth with both hands.

"Noooo its n-not like that... i-its just dancing and singing," she squealed. She shook her head quickly and turned to run away, speaking incredibly fast as she did so. "I'mgoingtofindtheothersnowokaythanksgoodbye!"

She took off at speed to search out for whoever she could find to assist her in these efforts.

---

"Afraid of m-m-me?" Lucy considered this assertion closely. It did seem applicable the more she thought about it. Many people were afraid of her, though that was an understandable biological phenomenon due to her lack of eyes. She really needed to find a good, dependable pair of eyes she could put into her skull that didn't bleed as much as the last set so that she could put the organic's at ease.

"A curious outlook. Team member Vance should r-r-realize I am only seeking out a field study of the a-a-aquatic lifeforms he has in his possession. I must catalogue their p-p-proclivity for exsanguination," she explained. She turned to the door behind her and raked her claws gently against it to alert him to her presence outside.

"Do not be afraid. This is Lucy."

"Yeah sorry but no offense Lucy, I find you really REALLY creepy!" Vance yelled out from behind the locked kitchen door. "I'd appreciate not being followed and cornered like this!"

Jericho had been using his time well, resting on Sielia. Doing his nails, working on his hair, sprucing up his wardrobe by making a few cuts here and there. But now he was utterly bored. It was mind boggling how his crew, as interesting as they might be in their own right, he found incredibly boring. Most of them, at least, but Jericho couldn't live attached to Shelby or spending the rest of his days hitting on Roku or Daniel.

So now he was just there, sitting on the beach. With a glass of margaritas at his side and bored out of his mind. He could go back inside and fry his circuits, but that wasn't a healthy passtime for his mind. He could call Bubblegum, but he still feared one thing...Shelby's bounty and the chance of getting his new friend in trouble. He didn't want to betray Bubblegum's trust either.

This was a familiar feeling. A feeling that he'd lose everyone he cared for either because he fucked it up or for inaction. Why does life always put him into these weird situations? He simply let out a heavy breath, and just laid on the warm sand.

Shun looked between Lucy and the door she raked her claws upon, shaking his head from side to side as he was disappointed in Vance. The man charged head first into enemy gunlines yet was afraid of some machination. Granted, it was a particularly morbid machination yet it could easily determine friend from foe. If it couldn't it was not like it was invulnerable or particularly difficult to dispatch.

"You are not cornered." the cyborg spoke out through the doorway. "If you were to step outside now your flesh would not be rended apart. The automaton wishes to learn of what you have in there. Perhaps it may even assist you in butchering the carcasses for a meal." he explains, attempting to play the mediator.

"I don't think you understand Shun. I've been through my fair share of battle fighting robots, but that thing... it's more than just appearance that is unsettling." he replied, before opening the door, walking out and staring straight at Lucy.

"I don't want you near me. Understand?" Vance said in an unusually cold tone, his usually friendly demeanor replaced with what could only be described as a death stare towards Lucy. He then turned and walked away to get out of the Mordred and back outside.

"I am currently assuming a non-threatening s-s-stance, Team Member Vance. There i-i-is nothing to be alarmed about," she replied through the door, finally drawing her claws back. Administrator Shun supported her position and she nodded slightly to the non-human.

When Vance opened the door and stared her down, she looked back at him with some curiosity. Her empty eye sockets might have been shrouded by her veil, but the expression was the same either way. Permanently blank.

"Your r-r-request is atypical. You have approached me under these c-c-circumstances," she stated as he turned to leave.

He performed another shake of his head to somewhat illustrate how ridiculous the man was being. Shun was familiar with phobias or otherwise nonsensical fears, but he was quite literally above it due to how fear was more or less uprooted from his neural pathways. At most he could feel pressure for self-preservation, but being so driven by logic he felt no reason to fear Lucy.

"Well then." he stated aloud, doing nothing to pursue Vance. "I do believe he left those specimens in there. From his lack of interest in them I am certain you are free to test them as you like." Shun reasoned before giving Lucy a nod. "I have no interest in such things, so I shall leave you to it."

With those parting words he began to exit the Mordred himself, technically following Vance somewhat yet he would soon break off to check on the others.

Nara settled down and decided to take a break after an enduring patch job. She met up with Grommy so they can find a way to entertain themselves. So far they saw Typhon and Shuren play a game of stickball so they asked if they could play for a little bit.

"Unfortunately, Mr. Grommy, we have only found two bats." responds Shuren, his accent having diminished greatly due to studying English more. "But you may use this pipe and this very strong stick I have found as I combed the beach!"

"Grommy! I pick you for my team!" demands Typhon.

Grommy walked up to Shuren who explained what he found. He gave a warm smile, "Oh I appreciate that Shuren. Thanks."

"Grommy! I pick you for my team!"

"Okay." Grommy responded, walking towards Typhon so they can play.

The game starts getting heated and more challenging now that there's more players on the field. Typhon stops holding back and starts swinging at full force. Shuren's forced to respond to this and plays much more defensively, dashing around his side of the court to deflect every volley Typhon sends their way.

"So, Shuren..." taunts Typhon as he sends the basketball flying over the net. "...What's your excuse for keeping all those scars a secret from your doctor?"

Shuren doesn't say anything, he just hits back, seemingly unaffected by Typhon's attempts to throw him off his game.

"And that brand mark too! Doesn't look like anything I know..."

Again, silence from Shuren, but his movements become rather stiff. Clearly Typhon's words bother him.

"So what happened that chewed your body up like meat, huh? Were you a soldier, tall man?" Typhon keeps pressing the issue. "...Some kind of convict?" Even across the field, he sees Shuren's knuckles turn white. "Or maybe.. you're some kind of a slave boy-"

*THWACK!*

Everything goes black for Typhon. He didn't even see the ball hit him square in the face. Shuren stands there, shaking in rage and gripping his bat hard enough that cracks start forming in the old dried wood.

Shun slowly walked out of the Mordred in ponderance, not too entertained by the concept of checking on each and every one of the crew members. Yet at the same time he had spent days monitoring his usual streams of data and charts, to the point that even his augmented mind was starting to grow weary. Everythinf was quite stagnant at the moment, fortunate as that allowed him to amass the funds necessary to carry out his plans. Yet it left him to wonder: were these uneventful days boring to him? Was that even possible?

Turning his head to the beach he took note of Typhon getting smacked in the head by a ball. Curious. From the distance it was hard to tell if it was an accident or not. This prompted the cybernetic Ayr to investigate, and in about a minute he was on the scene, overlooking the others from above the beach.

"Oh dear." he said, feigning shock and worry most unconvincingly. "What has happened here?"

Lucy says nothing and heads to the kitchen to inspect the seafood. The little critters were... not to her particular liking. They seemed little more than coastal shrimp, oysters, and some moderately sized fish. None of them bled to her liking and they lacked humanistic proportions for her to surgically remove for herself. Effectively, they were useless. She leaves and works her way back towards the outside.

Shelby was carrying along near the game of stickball when Typhon went down from a pretty nasty hit. It would have made a great net video if someone was filming. Shuren was out there, too, and she hesitated when she saw him. He was one of the people Lauren had suggested talking to, though now seemed... not quite right. Grommy was also over there, and maybe he could be some help with her plan.

Silently, Shelby watches from the sidelines. The other creepy guy showed up, too, on the other side of the scene. Shun. She definitely didn't want to talk to him, especially since he... knew.

Yolandi walks over to the edge of the landing platform they've turned into a sort of proving ground for the suits and mech. She decides it's time for a fresh air break and takes the cigarette she had tucked behind her ear and tucks it in her mouth before fishing around for a lighter and then pulling it out. She gives a flick and lights the windproof flame under the end of her cig. Once she's lit up, she kills the lighter's flame and pockets it, taking a long drag and looking down at the beachfront where the Mordred is parked. She watches the weird stickball game casually while she waits for Karina to get through her test run.

Once she sees the ball fly and impact into Typhon's face she winces, even from here she could tell just by the way Shuren was moving when he swung and stood afterwards, it probably wasn't an accident. She turns to shout over to Karina, "Keep going, let me know when you're done!" With that she hurries down from the landing platform access ladder instead of taking the cargo elevator. Once she's on the ground she rushes to the scene of the incident, she skids to a halt in the sand and pipes up, "Hey! What's going on down here? I was having a smoke up on the platform and saw that cannonball of a shot hit the old man in the face."

An uncomfortable spike of energy running down Shuren's back shakes him out of his furious trance. He lets go of the bat and immediately holds his head, rubbing the sides in a daze. He blinks once, twice, then looks at Typhon's body. The realization of what he just did hits him just as hard as the basketball when he launched it. Without even thinking he dashes over to Typhon's side, and kneels over his body. Blood was trickling out of his nose. Not a good sign.

"Oh-oh no! Doctor Typhon, I'm s-sorry! I'm sorry!" He grabs him by the shoulders and shakes him rather vigorously. "Please wake up!" As he looks up to try his chances of finding some sort of first aid kit around, he notices a few others have gathered nearby.

"Don't just stand there! Help him!"

Grommy saw Typhon get downed. He immediately jogged up to him but so far the Doc was knocked cold and was bleeding from his nose. Nara did the same and nodded towards Grommy on carrying him to the Mordred's Medbay.

Yolandi walks over and attempts to pull Shuren up off Typhon so that Grommy and Nara can move him. She tries to dust him off and looks at him inquisitively, "What made you take that killer swing? Like, give me a quick play of play of what happened before the home run."

Typhon wasn't completely knocked out as previously believed, the half-dead look of shock on his face slowly turning into a grimace as his eyes opened. As he notices the man who nearly killed him standing right by him, he starts kicking and thrashing wildly.

"Get the FUCK away from me!" he screams, rising to his feet on his own. "I fix your fucking back, and you do this to me!" Clearly incensed, he shoves Shuren away and starts shaking his fists, showing he's within a hairs inch of delivering a beat down. Before he can do anything though, he notices the sudden gathering of people nearby him. "The shit I put up with from you lot. Un-fucking-believable! Fuck this!" Not having any more of this shit, he storms off back to the med-bay.

Meanwhile Shuren has to catch himself from falling, having been struck square in the chest by Typhon. Before he can even explain anything to Typhon, he's already stormed off. His shoulders sank and his head bows, guilt taking over slowly.

"What made you take that killer swing? Like, give me a quick play of play of what happened before the home run."

"I-I just... I don't know... He started taunting me as we were playing and I just..."

Shun casually observed the situation from his spot, sad that he did not get a read on the emotional state of either party before arriving. The way Shuren was acting now it seemed accidental, but without the full story it was quite useless to speculate. At the very least he could eye him and make sure he wasn't lying about whatever he would tell Yolandi.

Just then Typhon awoke and had his meltdown, prompting the Ayr to stare on silently before he went and stormed off. "Not the friendliest sort." he states passively, attention turning back to Shuren. "He is still alive, however. Seeing as he would rather stew in his destructive anger and misery, there is hardly any reason to worry."

Yolandi doesn't need psychic powers to get a read on Shuren, she frowns and nods understandingly, "And it got under your skin and you just... snapped, right?" She dusts his shoulders off again and steps back to give him room, "Right, well, I think you should just give him some space for now until he's cooled his jets. Go sit somewhere and take a breather until you feel a little more calm, yeah?" She tilts her head to get her head more into his field of view since his head is bowed to make sure he's heard her.

The band members tried to get Typhon to the medbay but it seemed like he got up fine on his own, leaving both to wander in their confusion what just happened. Nara sighed harshly, maybe they shouldn’t have joined...

They stood by as Yolandi wanted to get the full story from Shuren, listening.

"He is still alive, however. Seeing as he would rather stew in his destructive anger and misery, there is hardly any reason to worry."
"i'm worried he might be the kind that bites back."
"Right, well, I think you should just give him some space for now until he's cooled his jets. Go sit somewhere and take a breather until you feel a little more calm, yeah?"
"And do what? Wait until he poisons me?"

Yolandi sighs and rubs her face, further smearing the grease that has been stuck to it by her own carelessness, "No, I mean, go sit in the sand over there and chill out for a minute. I doubt Typhon is going to poison you or do something to you, just... go sit down and chill. I'll go talk to him for you in a moment, I just wanna let him get past his initial burst of anger because he tends to become easier to talk to after that point." She glances around at the others, "If someone would like to stay with Shuren, please, I'm gonna go have a chat with Typhon." With that she paces off across the sand, she knows she should go back to the landing platform but she feels heading off a potential storm from Typhon is more important at this time. She heads up into the Mordred and goes to the medical bay, she knocks a couple times, "Doc, it's Yolandi, I need something checked out."

The Ayr cyborg didn't doubt that Typhon would poison Shuren over this, the man's manic nature and childishness seeming to have no limit. "There is nothing to worry about. If he were to try to poison you there would be... serious consequences. Best to relax as the woman says." Shun states, stepping down onto the beach proper. "I can accompany Shuren. Best of luck dealing with the good doctor."

Nara walked over to Shuren, tilting her head. Perhaps there’s still a way to mend the fence. While they had no personal beef with either one. It was very important to help both out.

“Shuren, I get that you were angry during that moment. And you had every right to, but that doesn’t mean you have the right to hit people even when people hurt you verbally.” She explained calmly, trying to communicate as best as she’s can.

“I know it sounds weird, but I think you and Typhon should apologize each other and get this whole thing cleared up. I don’t want you or the Doc to get hurt because of all this mess.” Nara said.
