I'm working on mine, in between getting distracted by other things, forgetting why I stood up, remembering why I stood up, losing my water glass, finding my water glass, and chatting online with my sisters.

Rasmataz's character has been submitted and approved already.

Once I get everyone else's I'll go ahead and open an IC posting thread and get us going!

I'll finish mine when I'm done work today. I was too tired for thought after work yesterday. I stared at my screen and got nothing done lol.

I'm thinking of making my character Shaharan ancestry, but he's short and kind of unShaharan-like in personality to the point where people think that he is adopted.

I see. I don't really have a problem with outcast type characters. But I do have one question which is fairly important to me about such a concept: Is the character Caucasian?

Shaharan is the Africa/Egypt of the continent, and I don't want their people to get whitewashed. It's happened before, and I have no plans on letting it happen again.

Usually I'm a lot more amicable and laid back about stuff in my RP's, but this one's important to me to maintain the integrity and faithfulness of the world since the RP concept comes from a story I plan to novelize someday.

Cheers!

Nah, he's still dark skinned and he actually is a fighter mentally, if that makes sense. He has a great mental fortitude.

What does cg stand for?

Computer generated, so 3D, like a video game character model such as Tifa here.

Name: Ekon Hadi
Picture:
1699939030067.png
Age: 36 years old
Height: 5'5
Weight: 132 lbs

Former Occupation: journeyman

Quirks/habits:
-spits in his fist when he flips someone off because he was born without full middle fingers. However, this action is rare.
-stares at people unintentionally. He rarely blinks
-slouches despite being short.
-is a power napper
-sounds mild mannered/calm no matter his mood

Personality: Ekon may appear weak, especially when compared to his rowdier brothers because he is not a physical fighter. He's quieter, and content to remain number two, provided the cause is right. However, behind that quiet, and seemingly placid behavior is a strong mental fortitude. Ekon is just as stubborn as his brothers, and always finishes a task, to the point of overworking himself. It's for this reason that people are often shocked that he doesn't assume leadership. However, Ekon has never wanted to be leader, because a) betrayal sucks and b)he's never had a desire to. He just finishes what he started, and keeps his promises. While not happy go lucky, he is neither cynical nor pessimistic.

Biography: While Ekon wasn't born in Shaharan his parents and 2 of his older brothers were born there. As his third brother, Oba, was growing up, his family moved and Ekon was born in Veilbrand because one of the many cousins in the clan supposedly stole crops from another cousin. As a result, the clan split in half, but Ekon's family moved to Veilbrand because while they liked fighting, interclan fighting was the type of thing they didn't want to deal with.

Growing up in Veilbrand was a mix of Shaharan life and Veilbrand life for Ekon, and aside from the constant fighting, enjoyed his home culture. Growing up, Ekon tried not to get into scraps with his brothers, but didn't mind the repartee part, as that was when all four siblings were equal. The name of the little community was Runa, a syncretic mix of cultures. In Runa, once you reached adulthood, you had to share stories of your travels, and Ekon travelled to see the outside world, a goal of his.

A few years ago, when Ekon, who found a passion for traveling, came back to Runa, he found Runa to be utterly wrecked by the King, and many people had died, including most of his family. The only person of his family to not have died was his eldest brother, and even then, it was indicated that if he was still alive, was severely injured.

Here is what i have so far.. im stuggling to find an image If anyone has one they think would work i would love to see it

Name: Sage
Picture: shaggy dark brown nearly black hair and sage green eyes..

Age: 18
Height: 5.6
Weight: 115 pounds

Former Occupation: Kid/farmer

Personality: Sage doesn't have friends, and they tend to quiet. They are mission driven, and they will do want ever it take to meet their goals even kill. Sage gets hyper focused on the task at hand and it leads them to sometimes be rude and blunt. They are also extremely sarcastic when it comes to things outside of the war as a coping skill. Sage isn't one to let anyone in. Through deep down they are still just a scared little kid lost in the woods. Sage isn't the tough and strong person anyone things they are and over time they might just let it show. They sometimes have panic attacks, and can be prone to bouts of mutism and depression.

Biography: Sage was orphaned by war when they were just 8. They lost both their parents in one of the first villages to fall, however sage and another young boy had wandered into the woods, and where thankfully saved by this. However, they would be alone for months before they were found They lived off the berries and nuts, and small animals for most of this time. Sage didn't speak for weeks after they were picked up by a kindly inn keeper, and an early revolution member. That safety was short lived and only sage sent to another member to warn them lived through the fire that broke out in the inn. No one is horribly sure what happened that night but that was the night Sage swore to fight and do whatever it took to bring back the ways and things to the way they had known. Sage served as a go between scouts and other members of the group, no one questioned the small boy. Through some say sage could still pass for a kid. They trained in scout skills, but it was clear they served a purpose in helping to pass along info where ever they could. They aren't the only one doing this work in secret through. Sage is known to those in the ranks but to most they just blend in and thats just the way they like it.

OK, I think I'm finally done. I had too much fun with this

Name: Thalvir Skau

PRU6zUb.jpg

Age: 32
Height: 6’1”
Weight: 184 lbs

Former Occupation: Farmer/brewer
Current Occupation: Tavern owner/brewer

Personality: Thalvir is a kind-hearted man who has learned the hard way to not be so eager to share what he has with strangers. For him, there is almost nothing quite so satisfying as a productive day of hard work. His warm, ready humour has been tempered by a deep well of grief, and he’s not so quick to joke as he once was. He tends to use his humour to defuse tense situations or deflect against things he doesn’t want to face. He is loyal, sometime to a fault, which has led to some poor decisions in the past, but he’s too stubborn to admit (out loud) he was wrong. There are times when he will dig his heels and refuse to budge. He calls it determination, but it’s plain, ornery stubbornness. The fuse to his temper is quite long, but when it blows, it's explosive. He can often be found sitting quietly with a small doll in his hand.

Biography: Thalvir is a farmer and brewer born and raised in Ortusk. He married Helka when he was 18, and took over his father’s farm, expanding it to open his brewing business. It was hard work, even with the help of his parents, and his 12 brothers and sisters, but it was work he enjoyed. There was always laughter ringing in the air on the Skau farm, and visitors were always welcome. Most of the produce he grew was sold at local markets, aside from what he kept for his family. The ales and beers he brewed came to be in high demand at the local tavern, as well as taverns in a few nearby villages. Some months were leaner than others, but they were happy. A year later, Helka gave birth to their daughter, Svala. When he was 22, he and his wife left Ortusk to make deliveries to taverns in nearby villages. Svala had been feeling under the weather, so they left her behind in his family’s care, expecting to only be gone for a couple of weeks. Before they left, Svala pressed a small, well-loved fabric and straw doll into Thalvir’s hand. It was small enough to fit tidily in his palm. She told him in her garbled, 3-year-old way manner, she wanted him to have it. He pocketed it, said his goodbye’s, and hopped into his wagon next to Helka.

They returned to find the ashen ruin of Ortusk. He spent the next several hours hunting fruitlessly for his family, screaming their names until he was hoarse, and digging through crumbling rubble until he was covered head to toe with ashes and soot. They spent a few years travelling aimlessly from town to town, until they finally settled in Runendal, a town nestled in the base of the Northern mountains. Thalvir used much of what remained of his money to purchase materials to build and open his tavern, The Tripping Cat, which has been in operation for a little over 6 years.

Name: Helka Skau

FwLR0j1.jpg

Age: 30
Height: 5’7”
Weight: 128 lbs

Former occupation: Farmer & seamstress
Current occupation: Tavern server

Personality: Helka is a compassionate woman with a warm and giving spirit that hasn’t been diminished at all by the past 10 years of hardship. If anything, it has only served to reinforce it. She firmly believes now, more than ever, people are need of a comfort and kindness. She does have a bit of a no-nonsense streak in her, which makes her a good server. She treats customers well but doesn’t put up with abuse. Like her husband, Thalvir, she is loyal and determined, unwilling to give up on anything when there is even the smallest chance of success.

Biography: Helka was born and raised in Ulval, near Ortusk. Her family often visited Ortusk to sell goods, which is how she met Thalvir. They courted for a few years, and finally married when she was 16. At first, she was overwhelmed by Thalvir’s large, loud family. Being an only child, it seemed strange to have so many people directly related to one another under the same roof. It didn’t take her long to adjust, and, before long, she wouldn’t have it any other way. She came to love the busy, hectic life led as part of the Skau family, and added to the household coffers with her skills as a seamstress, repairing and making clothing for others.

The birth of her daughter, Svala, was one of the most blessed and treasured moments of her life, tarnished only by the usurper king’s destruction of her home and family. After three years of wandering aimlessly from place to place, she told Thalvir she didn’t want to spend the rest of her days with him not having a home or a purpose in life. They knew brewing. They knew how to make people feel at home. Why not make use of it? They settled in Runendal, and after several months of hard working and planning, opened The Tripping Cat. Every so often she spots Thalvir lost in thought with Svala’s tiny, worn looking little cloth and straw doll clutched in his hand, and her heart breaks all over again.

Because I have had (as I've said already) too much fun with this, and I'm a glutton for punishment, I have the names of Thalvir's family (including Thalvir, his 12 sibling's, their spouses, and their children), and their ages as of 10 years ago.

Hoyo all!

I love all the character designs!

So, at this point I'd like to outline my four main goals for this RP, and put up a bunch of options for us all to discuss together about how we'd like the RP to start, and the general idea for how it progresses towards the long-term goals I outline.

(Also, I just added a MAP of Veilbrand (finally >.>) to the Lore Page so you can get an idea of what the nation actually looks like, as well as give context to locations which will be named from this point forward. If you want a location you've come up with added to the map, hit me up and well discuss it!)

So, here are the options!

Long-Term Goals

  1. Our characters meet (either by happenstance, or by choice)
  2. Our characters get caught up in the war and join the Revolution
  3. Chaos and trage-ah, I mean!... Ahem... Exploration, combat, and new experiences abound!
  4. The Revolution can either succeed, or it can fail (yes, I have a potential "Bad Ending" planned if things go this route)

How It Can Start (Open Discussion!)
  • All characters meet (by chance/choice) at The Tripping Cat for an evening of casual interaction

  • All characters meet (by chance/choice) in the town of Runedal as it's being attacked by a small (and manageable) group of Eagon's soldiers who are intent on doing what they do (causing chaos, confusion, harm, pillaging, raping, etc) and work together to help other locals fight them off

  • Same as the above, except this time the Revolution's forces arrive to save the day instead of it being all up to the town's folk

  • All characters meet (by chance/choice) at a village near Runedal before learning that Eagon's soldiers were spotted heading in that direction and we rush back to help fend them off (either with locals only, or with help from the Revolution)

  • All characters meet in Runedal, but must flee when it's overwhelmed by Eagon's soldiers (the fate of The Tripping Cat can either be obvious, or left to the imagination)

  • Open to further ideas!
How It Can Progress (Open Discussion!)
  • The group agrees to try and remain separate from the war (short term this can work, long-term it will not, they'll get sucked in either way at some point)

  • The group agrees to join the Revolution immediately

- If they agree to try and remain separate from the war...

  • The group travels to a new town/village/city and tries to set themselves up as best they can (given the completely shattered economy and the resource/trade situation) and hunkers down to survive as they wait out the war

  • Numerous different scenarios can then take place including:
    • Defending their new home from time to time against not only Eagon's soldiers, but also rogues and bandits as their numbers have skyrocketed in the wake of the country's economic collapse with people just not caring about "the law" anymore

    • Being forced to go nomad and move from village/town/city to village/town/city due to the inconsistent and/or untenable living conditions and lack of resources

    • Consider leaving Veilbrand altogether to try and start new lives in other nations (presuming they can even get through the borders due to the military-operated checkpoints and border patrols)

- If they agree to join the Revolution immediately...

  • The group can try to catch up to the Revolution's forces who helped earlier and ask to go back with them

  • The group can wander the Western region looking for them (the Revolution's headquarters location is not public knowledge, so we wouldn't know where to find them without help or by getting lucky and stumbling into them)
We'll end up with the Revolution one way or the other (unless we agree to flee to another nation in which case the RP entirely changes to a slice of life for "New Lives in a New Land" type adventure).

Presuming we don't flee to start a "New Lives in a New Land" slice of life RP, once we're in the Revolution our characters will be assessed for their physical abilities and placed in a Division as combatants. The Revolution has little need for non-combatants. So, get comfy and get ready to train your ass off and start learning to fight!

War is here, and it's not going away!!

So, that's the basic idea.

Thoughts?! Suggestions?! Ideas?!

Go!

I love the idea of them joining the revolution pretty quickly.
Also, does anyone have any ideas for Ekon's former occupation?

Since he's of Shaharanian descent, it depends.

If it's just his descent and he wasn't actually born or raised there then his previous profession can be almost anything from your standard civilization.

If he was born and raised in Shaharan before coming to Veilbrand during the the war then he wouldn't have had a "profession," so to speak. Shaharan culture revolves around the "Clan," and everyone is expected to do their part. Everyone hunts. Everyone fights if Clan wars break out. Everyone gathers. Everyone builds. Everyone helps pack up if the Clan needs to go nomad. Etc, etc.

Well damn I feel kind of silly for not posting my CS here, so here's Konrad:
Name
Konrad Hiuldr

Picture
1699673324148.jpeg

Age
25

Height
6'3"

Weight
183

Former Occupation
Farmhand

Personality
5Konrad is an eager man, always asking his superiors in the revolution for missions or tasks. He feels as if he always has something to prove, if not to others, then to himself. Despite this, he tries to be a cheerful and friendly man, despite the pain and darkness that he, like many others in this day and age, hides behind his smiles. Despite his obvious lack of formal education, he tries his best to understand concepts and ideas beyond those that he knows and absorbs knowledge and teachings like a sponge. As is common in this age, he bears an intense hatred towards the forces of Eagon T'housen, bordering on maddening. He fights with seemingly no regard for himself, much to the chagrin of the revolution's makeshift medics, and bears the scars of his reckless battles.

Biography
5Konrad came from a poor family of farmers, with his parents, two older brothers, and younger sister. Raised in a quiet village near the capital, life was slow and peaceful. At the age of 12, his father fell ill and so he, and his older brothers, forsake their education to work on the farm and provide for their family. In his eyes it didn't matter to him if he couldn't have a schooling, so long as his brilliant younger sister could. And so he continued to work the farm for three years, until the fateful day that his world turned upside down. He was out exploring the nearby woods with his sister, when he smelled smoke on the air. They rushed back home but all that met them was the fire and brimstone of their village. The house they had grown up in was now a column of flame. Before he could stop her, Konrad's sister ran towards a nearby soldier, pleading with him to find their family. Konrad could only look on in horror as the soldier merely turned to her and cut her down like a stalk of wheat. As her corpse tumbled to the ground Konrad fled back into the woods, tears streaming down his face. He ran as hard as he could, until he could no longer breath and he could taste iron in his mouth, but still he could only smell fire and smoke, blood and death. Collapsing in a field, he curled into the fetal position as the scene of his sister being slain kept playing before him, burned into his eyes. He hadn't been fast enough, he hadn't been brave enough to save her. He had been a coward. And in that nameless field, crying into the grass, he vowed that he would never be a coward again. Somehow, some day, he WOULD avenge his family. Or die trying.

Personally, I would want to join the Revolution right away, as Konrad's trauma and current ideology basically requires him to fight against Eagon's forces. However, if that's not the group consensus of how we want to start, that's fine, I can play around it. As for how we meet up, any of those options sound good to me!

The Tripping Cat makes the most sense as a place for everyone to meet, I think, since it's a convenient and practical spot for everyone to gather. People turn to booze to celebrate, and people turn to booze to forget their troubles.

Thalvir and Helka would be gutted to lose everything again, but they love Veilbrand, hate what's happening to it, and have a bone or two to pick with Eagon. Joining the revolution quickly would be my choice.

hihi guys! Just following protocol and slipping in to confirm my interest in this lovely fantasy RP :>>

Edit: I just caught up on the thread and I am digging everyone's chars holy heck ♡ If I could suggest that we perhaps add a "Nationality" tag to the character sheets that'd be a great help lmao

That probably would be helpful, wouldn't it? Lol.

Initially when I designed the RP I hadn't planned on including the other four nations in it whatsoever, even for lore purposes. But given the interest and the questions folks were asking I had to add them in.

So, yeah. If you want to add your character's nationality, providing they aren't born/raised in Veilbrand, then I'm totally cool with it. If your character is born in Veilbrand then you can skip this step.

GojiBean GojiBean does my character's backstory make sense? Finally done with Ekon

Heyo!

Yep, it makes sense.

One tiny detail of clarification (unrelated to your character's history) is that Eagon is a Dictator, not a King. He abolished the Monarchy when he took over and only cares to be known as "the Ruler," if anything. So long as everyone knows he's in charge, he's good. Lol.

Since we have almost everyone's characters in and accepted, I'm going to work on an intro post for the IC Posting today. It should be up sometime by this afternoon (It's 6:20am PST as I type this, for reference).

I'll be sure to tag everyone when it's up so those who are ready can get in their first responses.

Seraphine, if you need any help with character creation feel free to let me know and I can help you out so we can get you posting sooner than later as well.

Cheers!

Also, forgot to put this in earlier. But since everyone said they'd prefer to join the Revolution early, I'm going with the option of our characters meeting up in Runedal and the Revolution will come to assist when Eagon's soldiers come to do their thing.

So, be ready for (mostly) calm interactions at first, and then shit will hit the fan when I feel the moment is just right.

Also, also! Gonna be taking a few creative liberties with Runedal as far as population and a few other details about the town's layout and such. Hopefully everyone likes it!

Cheers!
