Sherwood I'm ready. The only changes I think I need to make to Chaska's character sheet are cosmetic. Is everyone ready for me to start the IC thread tonight? If not, I can wait. I'm just excited to get this ball rolling.

I think I used the wrong word. I mean that I still need to alter my "old" character concept into the one I'm using now. It's ready in some parts, but not in others. At least I got the background done swiftly though. =)The only changes I think I need to make to Chaska's character sheet are cosmetic.
Good post! =)Well, the first IC post is up.
He would know the common areas of the Kraken, but not the more sensitive places of the ship. Chief Rybeck is a real hard man to please, and he requires the highest levels of performance from his people. He didn't have a lot of contact with you prior to your leaving the Kraken, so he may not remember you.Sherwood
In Chaska's background, he was picked up by the Kraken. I take it, you've read it? (Or did that not make it to the Character page last night?)
Now, how long he stayed aboard before he was moved underground to begin his assimilation with the rest of humanity, etc. is, of course, completely up to you. He might know a civilian's amount of the Kraken or they could have put him to sleep so he knew nothing prior to arriving to House Artemis's training grounds or whatever you find best.
How much do you want him to remember/know about the Kraken and its crew (presuming this is the same crew)?
This might be his first time aboard as a Splicer (again, your story, your call). If it is, that makes sense to me given our level of experience.
Sherwood This is definitely the kind of person Chaska would observe. Especially from afar (and probably quietly avoid, at least at first).Chief Rybeck is a real hard man to please, and he requires the highest levels of performance from his people. Rybeck, to your best recollection, never touched any of his men in anger. Friendly slaps to the shoulder or back, but nothing over the line. The worst that you ever saw from him is a disapproving look with a shake of the head while saying, "You're setting yourself up for failure."Sherwood This is definitely the kind of person Chaska would observe. Has Chaska ever seen this Rybeck mistreating or outrightt abusing anyone? Does he veat up his soldiers without due cause? Overstep his authority? Stuff like that.
Has Chaska witnessed any evidence in that direction (soldiers allegedly wounded by Rybeck, bad and unusual talk of Rybeck etc.)?
Thank you for such concise answers! Now I have a strong idea of how my character will think and act. =)Rybeck, to your best recollection, never touched any of his men in anger. The reaction from that soldier he said that to was in line with finding out at five years old that Santa Clause ran over the Easter Bunny with his sleigh and is going to prison for life.
Rybeck rarely offers praise so when he does it means that much more to his soldiers. His subordinate officers are all professionals that have been hand-picked by the Chief, and between them they all make sure that the Kraken is a tight ship.
Sure is! I know it from reading about the U.S.M.C. during Afghanistan. The Marine door-kickers that cleared houses practiced "complacency kills" as their mantra. =)It's a real army expression, I'm going to sprinkle in related stuff as a veteran, and thank you.
I must say, I like the background image that you included in your post. It looks neat.Posted.
