“Enlighten me,” Heleni said. She never let the smile on her face dip as the enchanter ran over her options. In the end, she had decided on a short sword with the Flame Tongue enchantment. What the clerk lacked in tact was offset by his clear knowledge. The spell would set her sword aflame for the mana cost of a minor cantrip that would last until she drained the enchantment. It didn't take a spell slot like her White Flame Blade did.
As the sword was set to be made, the clerk offered her a buckler. It was made of steel with magical resistance to corrosion, rust, acid, and fire, in addition to better edge retention and overall durability. Included for a little extra coin was a rune of returning that would return the buckler back to her hand if it was thrown. She was sold.
The purchase in total was 308 for the blade and 150 for the shield. Heleni asked if the clerk could refer her to a smith that made reliable helmets as well. He directed her to a nearby shop that had a metallic skull cap for 40 daric.
She returned to Markus for another bout of purchases. Asking for a priestly teacher to learn the Healing Word from, she set 50 down on the table for lessons. Her contribution to the group’s well-being tallied as follows: 70 for potions and antidotes and 15 for general provisions. Left at the end of her purse was 330 daric.
Not a bad day all told.
