Specialties

What, so +3 out of a normal 5 max isn't overspecialised enough for ye? Perhaps the number of people with +3 specialties has jaded you somewhat, but consider just how overspecialised such an individual is!


Someone with melee one can swing a sword without hurting themselves, and stand a chance of hitting an unsuspecting opponent.


Someone with melee four can nigh-effortlessly disarm most proffessional soldiers and could make a reasonable career among mortals as a duellist or gladiator.


Somone with melee one, as above, with a three-die specialty in shortswords, can perform better than a proffessional swordsman with shortswords, but might cut off his own toe if he picks up a sabre.


How much idiot-savantry do you want?

That sounds like the territory of Merits and Flaws to me.
 
I was always a big fan of giving fairly general first "dot" specialties, like swords, then making them more specialized as you get more.  Say the second "dot" being broadswords and the third being broadswords that I made, or maybe one specific broadsword.  I think that better represents what you're trying to do with a specialty.

I actually can't find rules on anything related to creating your own gods.
I guess it's a house rule your dieties thing.

Likely we might see rules for Deity creation, in The Books of Sorcery Vol. IV The Roll of Glorious Divinity I: Gods & Elementals. Gee thats great, we get to wait a year or so for this useful information. Not sure if the (I: Gods & Elementals) refers to chapter or the fact that both books 4 and 5 will be Roll of Glorious Divinity. Ah well.
Eeep!!! I just checked the street date on Books of Sorcery Vol.3: Oadenol's Codex. Looks like they're actually ramping up the production, seeing as it is slated for May 30th. So maybe we will see Book 4 by end of year. Cool!

PS for creation of your dieties, I would recommend the South Beach, it works! (I fully accept any smacks I take for that pun.)
