[Souls of Paranoia]Scarlet Mansion - Birthday Bash [Week 22]

When Kim commented about not being old enough to drink the wine ribbon spoke up. "Don't worry Kim, we won't tattle." Ribbon said giggling at the girl. As well, when Monroe said she'll have to bring Julian some time, it prompted Ribbon to get curious. "Oh, he's your boyfriend right? What's he like? Does he have a memento to?" Ribbon asked excitedly as she reached over and grabbed both of the gifts from Oswald that were left on the table.

There were two of them, a small rectangular box and a tiny small square box. She wasn't sure what to open first, but decided to start with the larger box. She unwrapped the gift and noticed it was a book. "A book? What did you get me Oswald." Ribbon said as she pulled the paper from the books cover. In large pink letters across the cover was written I'm gay and that's okay ribbon was shocked at first and quickly turned it over. The back explained the book was about coming to terms with homosexuality and learning how to come out to your family and friends.

ribbon coughed and put the book down on the floor under her chair, the first gift of the evening which she didn't show off to everyone. "Oh, uh thank you Oswald." Ribbon said about the book as she unwrapped the second gift. It was a ring box, small and simple. The box wasn't detailed or designed, it looked like a cheap box a plastic ring would come out of. Yet when Ribbon opened it was was surprised by what she saw.

A white gold ring with two gems a blue sapphire and a blood red garnet acting as the center pieces to a yin yang sign. ribbon plucked the ring up and showed everyone it. "Oh! It's beautiful! Thank you Oswald!" Ribbon as as she tried it on her right ring finger, where it fit perfectly.

Leah could feel that she was being belittled by Red. She quickly packed up her DVDs and put them in a box. However she knew Oswald wouldn't let her push it to the floor. She was an actress, an artist, there would be stuff that would be well received and there would be stuff that wouldn't. Not everyone's day was their best. Yet she could feel some hostility coming from the other woman coming across the table.

Oswald however was much more merry. He smiled when Red made her joke of an aside. "Play language?" Oswald said to Leah who he knew was distracted. "Well this is a play, we are all actors here. Red invented this production, she can choose how it ends." Oswald took his gifts and handed them to Yuki as she walked by in order for them to be given to Ribbon. He wanted to feel Jennifer's excitement and surprise when he watched her. It had been some time since a surprise was thrown for him. Well, that didn't involve some attempted murder.

Nevertheless, Oswald enjoyed his time watching Ribbon open her gifts from Penny, Monroe and the Scarlets. Each great gifts in themselves but he could feel a similar trend. All of them were activities to do later, things that would make people involve themselves with Ribbon. Its a shame that Oswald didn't get the memo, or more likely that Red didn't plan for his attendance, because he knew his gift would break the mold.

Oswald laughed a bit when Kim showed hesitance when it came to drinking. Jennifer tried to play her into drinking but Oswald a bit more blunt when he started laughing harder. "Come now, Kim," he said. "We are a band of wayward souls and the rest make their money selling drugs to kids." It was a bit blunt but Oswald was wanting appease Leah, who was still annoyed with how Red faced her.

That being said, he laughed off the remark and got quiet as soon as Jennifer touched one of his gift. The first she wasn't so happy with, Oswald could tell. Perhaps she was just embarrassed, for she quickly put it away and thanked him for it. Oswald only raised his glass. The second gift received much more praise. This time Oswald spoke up. "To true and your true selves. Don't forget as we embark with one another now, that our pasts always exist and always affect us," Oswald said as if he was giving a sermon. "The ring is my hope you remember that as it has your mother's birthstone, Jennifer, as well as Red's birthstone. January, if I am not mistaken?" He said asking Red for confirmation. It was a blood red garnet, for a blood red woman.

The moment Monroe mentioned Julian was the start of casual questions from Jennifer. "Yeah he's my boyfriend" Monroe smiled, examining the fork she finally decided to pick up. Never mind etiquette, Jennifer had said she would open her presents while they ate. However Monroe only started picking at her noodles with her fork, thinking about Jennifer's question.

"He's odd?" she ventures, looking at Kim before realizing the young girl had never met him before either. "He's a people person, unlike me- but he's very open about things which I like and responds in ways that I'm not really used to..." Monroe smiled rather fondly at her memories of the man. Carefully, Monroe picks up some pasta, making sure to speak a piece of meat. "He has a memento alright" she takes the bite to prevent herself from saying anything else about the matter.

Jennifer was busy with the next gift anyways, opening one without showing what was inside before opening a ring she was much more interested in. The ring played more into her interests and the woman thanked Oswald who raised his glass. Monroe realized he was making a kind of toast, explaining the meaning behind the ring at the end. It was a weird message, but Monroe raised her half empty glass of wine anyways, "Cheers" she quirked a brow at the Oswald and Leah coupling.

Monroe talked a bit about her boyfriend, calling him off and open with a memento. Ribbon was intrigued, as he didn't sound like the type of guy Monroe would go for. At the same time, if he had a memento they wouldn't have to keep their memento secrets from each other. "I wonder who he has?" Ribbon asked internally to Red, choosing not to pry into the matter.

"I don't know." Red replied. She honestly didn't. She suspected that this Julian had a memento, but she didn't know what it was or who he had with him. She would look forward to meeting him though.

Oswald explained the significance of the ring and how it held the birthstones of her mother and Red in it. Jennifer fidgeted the ring a bit as she played with the idea of taking it off. How would he know so about about her? The book was peculiar, but with the ring, it was clear that Oswald knew far too much about her personal life, and about her past. "Oh... thank you." Ribbon said sheepishly as she picked up her fork and started to twirl her pasta.
