[Souls of Paranoia]Gathering of Souls

Indeed.

My Current Charachter Idea?

An /Really/. /REALLY/. Nice Guy. Maybe a Cop-In-Training, or an Vet come home who honestly believes that he did the right thing and still is. Just- someone who, if it was DND, would Qualify to be a Paladin.

Whose Spirit, is a woman- possibly based off of Elizabeth Bathory - but obviously not her precisely. But- someone horrificly, honestly, evil- sharing a body with quite possibly the nicest guy I'll ever RP.

I like this idea.
You acquire suitcase nuke. You now have the power. All of it.
Question, is it possible to ignore powers entirely and enter play as a character without them?
All Momentos provide powers. However, you don't need flashy powers. You could have something basic like the ability to change your hair at will, or something else fun and flavourful. Don't worry so much about powers, the character personalities are histories are more important.

If you have lots of trouble, make the character you want to play, and pick a power that's related to the death after the fact.

Remember: One of the rules of the death is that it is Unfair and Tragic - The person should not have been deserving of the death, nor brought it upon themselves.

Souls have been around for decades or more. People change over time. However, Do not make characters that are 'evil' for the sake of evil. They should have reason or motivation.

Hope you all don't mind, but I have now joined! Not a clue yet as to a serious character so I'll have to think about it for a bit. Looking forward to the RP!

Well, I think I am in. I am in the process of making a character, but I am having a hard time deciding what to use as a power. The soul will be a 16 year old girl. The character will be a 50 year old man. The item will be a nickel from early in the last century. The cause of death will be a robbery and shooting of the girl while she was trying to call home to get a ride, but couldn't get anyone to come so late at night.

The power I want to use is the ability to make someone do something just by telling them to do so. It has to be a simple suggestion, maybe 10 words or so, but nothing overly complicated.

Now, I just need some motivations for the characters and the soul.

We are open enrollment all the time. So of course.

No - because the entire idea behind the game is to have powers. So sorry, you must have them. NPC do not have to have powers/items though.

Not sure who elderly Lelouch is, but yes. This will be the very epitome of two opposites. Young, carefree, dead vs. an aging, fastidious, living man. One of which wants to go out there and do something, with the other being one who would rather sit home and read about it.

There will be nice fights to see who can gain control and for how long.

Lelouch was an fellow with the power to do, basically what you described, but much more so, in an Anime of which I am a fan. Sorry, it was a weird reference.

For my first character, I will be experimenting with Time Stop. However for obvious reasons this would provoke massive thread issues. So the ability will be localized time stopping, where only objects or persons specified by my character will be stopped in time.

This localized time stop has a few rules: first, anything that comes into contact with the time-locked object/person will also be frozen in time (excluding the ground, etc.) and second , anything that is not specified or not within the specified area at the time of my casting will not be time-stopped (they must be specifically targeted later on).

Beyond those rules its all relatively simple. Of course no player character can be time-stopped but any object (excluding their mementos) can be stopped.

Updated to the FAQ -

What do souls do when they are stuck in the Mementos before/between having owners?
Nothing. The souls are not even cognitive of their time stuck in the mementos before they possess another person. Its only after the possession that they wake up over time. In this game however your possessed character should already have fully been introduced with the possessing soul.

Will probably have mine posted Monday or Tuesday, up to my eyeballs in circuit diagrams right now. :P

Kind of toying around with eerily accurate fortune telling as a power, binding the reader (PC included) to that fate. Thoughts?

That would fall into precognition (One of the banned powers). So unfortunately not. Nothing that controls fate or reads it.
