Fantasy Soul Secrets

Idyllia

to thine own self be true
SETTING: MODERN TIME

There is an extremely rare genetic species called "Soul Colors", they attach to the human bodies when they are born. However, the souls do not take part in their lives until age 16. Once the humans with this ridiculously rare genetic-disease reach age 16, they begin to notice things. The souls are creating supernatural abilities inside the host. Thus making the host able to do abilities like no other human.

The chances of someone being born with this code is ridiculously low.

There is a bad point of this though, if you are born with this.

The government wants everyone who is born with this genetic code to be exterminated. This has happened in the past, and they thought they got rid of it. The government has developed the S.E.P (Soul Extermination Plan). Now, every border they have securely guarded with soldiers, and are forced to kill anyone they see with this mutation.

How can you tell if someone else has this disease? Well, once they are 16 their eyes turn the color of their Soul Color disease, but not just any ordinary color. A bright, noticeable color. Neon-like. However, only the government knows this information. So any ordinary person wouldn’t know if they had this disease. You, the luckiest person in the world (or unluckiest), are born with this disease and find out when you turn 16. What will you do with these gifts? Thats up to you. Just don’t meet the S.E.P!

I wake up, drenched with sweat and heavily breathing. Turning to my clock, my vision quickly blurs and my vision turns dark with light spots appearing. I grab my head to relax it, and it works. The dusty alarm clock reads 5:53am. I lazily get up and peer at myself in the mirror. I look like a mess. Trotting into the living room, I see my small TV on and my mother slumped against the dining table holding a can of beer. Scanning the small room, there's cans resting all over the floor.

"Mom," I say, walking up to her and shaking her gently. "Wake up and go to your room."

She stirs a bit, but there's no way she's going to get up. I sigh and walk to the kitchen to make breakfast. Spam and eggs. In the middle of cooking it, I hear my mom get up and sloppily step over to me.

"We had spam and eggs yesterday, Kitty Kat!" My mom slurs.

While rolling my eyes I respond, "That's all we could afford."

My mom reaches for the pan. "I don't like it!"

"Calm down and stop acting like a child." I say, swatting away her hand.

My mom doesn't know about my powers. She's slowly going crazy, I don't want her to one day call the police on me. Yet, when she did accidentally see my eyes, she didn't care. She was too drunk when she saw them.

"Don't tell your mom what to do." She says, giggling at the end.

Anger spikes and I feel burning hot.

"Kitty Kat! You burned our breakfast!" My mom squeals.

Looking down, I see charred eggs. I turn off the stove and stomp to my room.

I slowly wake, feeling refreshed, and squint as the sun peeks through my aquamarine curtains. Yawning softly, I get up and close them all the way. I glance over at my clock and smile seeing it's 6:46am. I make my way downstairs, only to be met with the emptiness of the rooms. Shrugging to myself, I go back upstairs to my bathroom and turn the water on to shower. Once I get out, I put on a pair of cutoff shorts and a vibrant purple top as well as matching knee high converse. I look in the mirror and smile at the result before running my brush through my long, black hair. I go back downstairs and straight to the kitchen to cook myself breakfast before school. Deciding on a bacon and cheese omelet, I take out the ingredients and get to work. Soon enough, I sit at the table with my food in front of me and start eating, enjoying the silence.

I sigh, letting out all of the fiery rage that was building up. I don't want to accidentally burn a textbook when I'm at school. I brush my silky hair, put on a random outfit from my closet. I check my hazel colored contacts in the mirror and then continued to get ready. Soon enough, it was time for school. I looked in the mirror, put on my most convincing yet condescending smile and walked out of the bathroom. I slung my backpack over my shoulder and carried it that way.

"I'm going to school." I said to my mom, walking my signature walk out of the little apartment we have.

Ring Ring Ring!

The alarm clock that sits on the nightstand went off. Sky frowned, she was having such a good dream and that alarm cloak have to ruin it! Slowly she throw off the blanket and start getting ready for school. Once she finished, Sky checked in the full length mirror that's on her closet door. Hmm...everything looks good, hopefully I won't get caught today, Sky thought as she look in the mirror. Her teal coloured eyes doesn't stand out that much, which is a good thing.

Sky ran downstairs, seeing breakfast ready on the table. "Morning mum!" She said cheerfully.

"Hi sweetie," her mum replied. Her mum have the same brownish blonde hair as Sky, but her mother's eyes are hazel. "I'm going to Australia for a photography trip, are you sure you're going to be ok?"

Sky nodded as she finished her breakfast, "yeah mum, I'm going to be fine!" She smiled and put the plates in the dished. "I'm off mum!" She quickly gave her mum a kiss on the cheek and exit the house, heading towards her school. I wonder if there's any new kids...Sky wondered as she walk down the usual street.

Andrea stretched, glancing at her alarm clock. She hopped out of bed and switched into a red tiger striped shirt and short shorts, she yawned before rubbing her eyes and walking downstairs. She grabbed a can from the shelf in her tiny apartment and opened it, she dumped the microwave spaghetti into a bowl and threw the can away before heating it up for a minute. She had barely grabbed another can when her tiny @RebelliousTeddyBear ) she called to the girl, she had pretty blonde hair and nice teal eyes with a pretty face. "I'm new" She started awkwardly as the kitten curled up in her hand, "And I've never been to school in person, I did online school before and I, uh, don't really know what I need to do" She explained, awkwardly.

Samael rolled over in his bed but his dogs had already decided to wake him up, his pitbull started licking his face with intensity and he groaned, "I'm up" He sat up, his eyes closed with bad bedhead, he sat up as his mixbreed dog managed to get his cheek with it's tongue. "Off boy" He growled as he moved towards the bathroom, after using it, he went down the hall of his house. He had a large house that his parents had left him, they were fairly rich so he inherited enough money to keep the place. He yawned as he entered the kitchen, his dogs following, he scratched his bare chest as he poured the dog food into both bowls, the dogs ate quickly and loudly. Samael wasn't feeling too hungry so he grabbed a peach yogurt out of the fridge and sat down on his couch, he ate with his eyes shut. When he finished, he threw the cup away and dumped his spoon in the sink, he needed to go grocery shopping. He slipped into jeans and a shirt, Samantha, the light pitbull, was laying on the couch and Wolf, his mixbreed, sat up when Samael came into the living room, his tail thumping. "Be good guys, I'll be back" He said, slipping on his shoes and opening the front door, he shut it before Wolf could make it there. He locked the door and dumped the key in his pocket, he stepped into his car, a 2015 Ford Mustang. It was gray with a retractable roof, he pulled out of the driveway and drove to the store, he parked and shut the roof down, he turned the car off and stepped into the store.

Fuyu yawned, stretching his arm as he left his bed, he slipped on pants and shirt before moving down the stairs of his large house, that he was given with a little coaxing by a man, who pays for it all, every month. He moved down the stairs before going into the kitchen, he grabbed cold, cheese pizza from the fridge, two slices and ate them in the backyard as he soaked in the sun to wake him up more. When he finished, he washed his hands to rid the greece and slipped on shoes, he wore a black, long sleeved shirt with black gloves and light blue jeans. His shoes was checkered black and white; he stepped outside with his usual sadistic grin. His eyes were intense and his parents had abandoned him at a young age for his personality. He trotted, his blonde hair a little messy but he finger brushed it as he went down the sidewalk, his pure black backpack over his shoulders, people that lived nearby all moved out of his way as quickly as possible, when he got to school, people seemed to fan out, just to get out of his way, a teacher quickly ran past him with a forced smile, "Uh... M-Morning" He stammered and Fuyu hardly glanced at him, "Get out of my sights" He growled and the man seemed to just disappear as fast as he ran to get away from him.

As Sky reached the school gate a girl holding a small kitten in her hands. Awe! Adorable kitten! She thought. When she got closer she noticed a scar on her face, from above the eye to below. She wondered what she'd done to get that scar. Sky realizes that the girl was talking to her, she smiled.

"Yes," Sky answered her, "My name is Sky, Skylar Nicholson." She look at the girl, observing her, she's definitely not freshman, maybe she's a senior? "We'll need to get your schedule first!" Sky said grabbing her her hand, "Then I'll show you around the school," she gave her a friendly smile, hoping to make the girl feel comfortable around her.

Andrea smiled, "Thank you! It's so busy in there, I couldn't find anyone to ask" She gave out a sigh before introducing herself, "I'm Andrea David" She said and made an indictation to the kitten, "This one is Tora, meaning Tiger is japanease" She explained before nodding at Sky's explaination, "Okay, where do we get the schedule?" She asked, happy that she made a new friend, even if she looked girly. The red head was a bit surprised when she grabbed her hand but didn't shrug it off, "Great" She said, laughing slightly, she had very white teeth. Andrea was way taller then Skylar, without heels, the kitten meowed softly and Andrea smiled, "Tora says hi by the way" She said, as the kitten nuzzling Andrea's fingers.

Bernadette awoke in a small comfortable room with pale mint curtains allowing pale and drained light to reach her eyelids. A bad sign as she had probably slept through her alarm clock. Checking the time, she leapt upward and eliminated the peace of her room.

Sprinting into her dresser, literally, the let the drawers slip open as clumsiness and gravity took control. Stopping it from falling with one lithe hand, she grabbed a discarded outfit with another. She slipped on a cream knee length skirt and tighter olive sweater top, then took off downstairs, bag in hand.

Nobody to greet her.. she tried a small smile.

Probably out finding knew ways to track her and others down, her dad. Her mom was just gone. Ben refused to feel bad.

"Morning mom, dad. Thank you for the food..." with that she grabbed a piece of french bread and piled pear preserves and raspberry onto it. "See you later." Shesaid to a photo of them on the wall. She took out her contact case, slipped themin and ran to the nearby school, without any thought.

"Yeah, on my first day it was worst than this," Sky smiled, "nice to meet you both!" She looked at Tora, the kitten is too cute! "Hi Tora!" Sky start leading her towards the office. "I'll take you there," she told Andrea, "I'm not sure if your teacher would allow animal in the class though." Sky didn't know how Andrea is going to hide Tora. Now thinking about it, Sky is quiet short compare to Andrea, but she didn't mind, she was used to it. "Here we are!" Sky said as they arrived at the office.

Alex finished getting ready for school early. She figured she'd stop and pick up some things to snack on at lunch today. Throwing her bag over her shoulder, she checked her toned down blue contacts in the mirror and smiled. She ran downstairs and out the door, quickly making her way into her new car. She was happy with it. It was a clue and black 2014 Chevy Camaro, a gift dorm her parents when she had turned 16. After listening to the engine come to life, Alex pulled out of the driveway and sped off down the street. Once she arrived at the store, she stepped out and locked her car before going inside and straight to the grocery section.

Julie had woken up early today and had already the house around 5:00. Early birds get all the worm he'd say as he walks through town, picking up litter and garbage along the way. He was wearing contacts that dulled the neon color of his eyes, then shades as further insurance. He was currently at the forest near his old school now, something was strangely alluring about it and he been maintaining it ever since he was a freshman. Julie brought out some potted tree saplings he had in bags, then fishing out a small hand shovel to plant them with. He usually plant some new trees every month or so in the forest, and today wasn't any different. He started to brushed the sweat off his brow after the long work, taking a breather now that's he done. He sat near the pond and took a sandwich out from his bag, at the same time the woodland critters started to gather around him. They all perched on top and next to him as he casually starts eating his breakfast. He could hear their greetings and some telling stories to entertain him with, although he was too busy eating to converse back.

Andrea smiled, the kitten meowed back at Sky's greeting before yawning loudly. Andrea huffed loudly at her comment about the teacher, "Well they can just suck it up, if they rather it die, then I'll show them how death feels" She growled, loudly before going back to normal, "Just saying" She said with a shrug and a grin. She glanced at the door, before nodding, "Are you allowed to come in with me?" She asked, unsure of what the place was really.

Samael stretched his arms before entering, grabbing a basket and pushing it forward, his stomach grumbled at his small snack but he ignored it. He browsed the canned food, grabbing this and that with some soup. He reached onto the top shelf, with ease, to check the ingrediants of a box, he flinched and put it back down when it said cheese, he hated most cheeses. He moved along to the food section, he noticed an older woman having trouble grabbing something, he grabbed for her and she smiled, "Thank you" He shrugged, "It's nothing" He responded, his voice deep and gravely.

James woke up, and yawned. It was time for school... Again. Great, that meant trying to hide his eyes until he got home. Then maybe on the weekend he would go climbing. But there were new people to meet! He liked meeting new people, and hoped he didn't mess anything up. He opened his bedroom door, and stepped out. Then, he quickly got ready for school. He put on a white t-shirt, some blue jeans, and an old pair of checkered Vans. He wore those ever since his parents died. When they died, they left a trust fund in his name. It was enough to keep him in food, house, clothes, and occasionally a game for his computer. It was his average outfit. And he still liked keeping white on. He put on a pair of sunglasses and forged a note saying that he had to keep them on in class because he was light sensitive. He locked his apartment and headed downstairs. He didn't have to pay rent anymore. His parents had bought the place last year. Alright, enough focusing on my parents, he thought. Then, he grabbed his mountain bike and rode to school. Just in time. He picked up his messenger bag and walked in. It had a laptop in there. Just in case he found another person.

(Sorry all, I live in California... And so, not on the same time schedule. But normally, I wake up at 6:30 and not 7:40.)

Arriving at the school, I stand up tall with my head held high. I receive glares from some of the girls and whistles from some of the guys. Smirking at them all and walking my signature walk, I make it through the hallway and to my locker. I enter the combination on the extremely tedious object and open the locker, just to see it be slammed closed by a random prankster.

I quickly grab his arm and smile at him, my hand quickly heating up. I let go of him before I place a terrible burn and he runs away.

I sigh, close my locker and lean against it. Gosh, some people are annoying.

Once I arrive at my first class of the day, I sit down and lean my head against my hand, already waiting for the day to be over even though she just got there.

Ben walks inside to see a beautiful red head girl get messed with. She looked curiously to see said girl grab the rude boy and smile as his face peeled into horror. The redhead was familiar. Ben had never spoken to her before but... The girl injured him just at touch it seemed. Wow..

Ben walked into class, which was coincidentally the red heads as well. She decided to walk over and half smiled at the other, writing down on a piece of disposable scrap paper "How did you do that?" so nobody could ease drop.

James sits down, and opens up his laptop. Earlier that morning, he saw someone be burned on contact with a human. He stored that info in an encrypted file in the cracks of his computer. Never know who was a Soul and who wasn't. He set an alarm to find their numbers... They probably thought he was human; never seen his eyes. They were a blinding white. Being different was dangerous. They should keep closer track of the SEP. He didn't want to be this secretive but it was for the best. He used his powers to make the room flash once. Then, he looked over at the redhead. That should get her attention. Then, everything became dark to James. The dark... Damn! He lit up his pockets... Much better.

Julie had moved his shades up onto his hair, it's not like S.E.P were going to bust on him in the middle of the forest. This place was seemingly Soul Haven, but he couldn't just drop his guard all that easy. His phone started ringing, the tone started to attracted wandering birds as they hopped closer to listen. "Hey is that your girlfriend, hey hey. Julieee, who is that, hey Julie!" The birds chirped and smugly nudged him. He wasn't phased by the birds and just picked up his phone.

"Do you need anything Dad?", he asked in the phone. He currently lives alone with his dad ever since his mother passed away, he also had an older sister but she been away overseas to study.

"Can you buy some groceries today?" his dad asked, busy working to support them both.

"Mmhm", he nodded before hanging out,"Seeya, behave yourselves." he patted one of the mouse on his shoulder before it scurried off. The rest of the critters and birds dispersed, eager to see him tomorrow. With that Julie started making his way toward the market sorting through his wallet to see if he had enough cash, which he did.

I peer down at the piece of paper. Damn, I thought nobody saw that. I quickly scribble on the note, "Do what?". I decide to play dumb, you never know who's a Soul and who's not. Looking into the girl's eyes, I don't see any particular bright color, but obviously we're all trying to hide it. I look deeper into her eyes and see that she's wearing contacts. Suddenly, the room flashes and I hurriedly turn to the source. A boy with sunglasses and brown hair is staring at me. I can't see the color of his eyes beneath those shades. Did he do that? There's people around me that have Soul Colors?

"Another...?" Ben murmured under her breath. She gave the redhead a sure look, as to say that she could tell what happened. She couldn't help but face palm. Why did he have to be obvious about it? Some sort of incident would attract attention and with the right amount of searching, anyone can tell when you are wearing colored contacts. In fact, the boy seeming to be the source had less protection then them. Worry lines creased as she felt the strong desire to grab them and leave. She bit it back, thinking maybe it just seemed like a normal surge in power.

"I'm going out now!" said a young teen to his mother, who sighed. " Honestly, when are you going to take off those glasses? I think you wore them enough." The mother said to him , who just smiled. "Mom, don't diss the glasses. Bye!" He left before she could say anything. Truthfully, he wished he could just stop using those novelty glasses that have a yellow tint, but that would result in a bigger issue.

Several days ago, Travis found out that he had a Soul Color. It was a pretty cool disease that gave him electrical superpowers and such but it had a downside, the government had a special extermination squad that killed people that had it. Of course, this cause him to hide his new color using some goofy yellow glasses. There would be some questioning if people found out that he has bright yellow eyes instead of his old heterochromatic ones, and he didn't want to die young. He hope that he will find some other way to hide his eyes, because he didn't want to go on seeing yellow in public for the rest of his eyes; he loved all the colors of the world.

The teen was now skating to the school that he goes to using his roller shoes; he had his glasses on his eyes since there wasn't a big chance that he would come across someone that he knows. He like the breather from the glasses, at least until he gets to school. While skating, he came across a brick wall that had graffiti that he made, it said:
DON'T DESTROY COLORS!

He was sad to see that there were some workers that were removing it, but that was the price of graffiti. One of the workers glanced Travis, which caused him to suddenly skate away. Ever since his disease (although he prefers calling it a gift) activated, he became slightly paranoid of people who see him without his glasses on. It was also one of the downsides. Soon, the view of the school was in his sight. "Goodbye, multicolored world." He muttered as he put on his glasses. When he arrived, he pressed a button on his shoes to hide away his wheel, he didn't think skating inside would be a great idea. He entered the school to hope that he will have another normal day.

James looked over at the lights. With a bit of mess, it would look like a surge. Or he could mess with the generator and make it look like a blown fuse. Hmm... Generator is more likely to show, and electricity is always odd. He walked out, and over to the generator. Quickly, he twisted a knob. Now it would look like someone nudged that knob. He slowly walked back in, and dropped a piece of paper on the desk of a redhead. It read, "The surge'll look like an accident. I have soul. Destroy this note. Might be leaving. Isn't safe here. " He hoped she picked up on it. He didn't have much left going for him in this town. He might sell the apartment and buy another one. Then he would leave. It wasn't safe. And he had to escape the SEP. They caught him once. Not twice.

Alex looked around the snack isles and grabbed some bags of chips as well as some candy bars. She made her way down the canned food isle and looked around for canned fruit. Sighing softly, she saw it on one of the upper shelves. She stood on ter tip toes, trying to reach it, but she was still too shirt. Being 5'4 is a pain in the ass she thought as she tried again.

*buzz...buzz....BUZZ...BUZZZ!!!*

Lexi jerked awake tossing off her blanket momentarily disoriented still stuck in a half sleep state. She jumped up, twisting her head around searching for the intruder to her sleep. Where on earth did she put that damn alarm clock?! Fed up at the constant droning she shot out her hand and let a small electrical current run down her arm, out her splayed and zapped in the direction the noise was coming from, a sudden stop in that noise and a hazy spiral of smoke satisfied her immensely. Happy with the silence she crawled back into bed shrouding herself with the warm covers. Settling herself back to sleep, she was drifting off before the reason she set the alarm clock .

"OH ON THE GODS ABOVE!!" she yelled before this time sprinting out of her bed and into her pile of clothes next to her wardrobe. She pulled on the first respectable items of clothing she could find (a loose purple top over black skinny jeans with a pair of matching purple converse) and legged it out of her room while inserting green coloured contacts, they look best with her natural golden eyes. "MOM! I OVERSLEPT YOU WERE MEANT TO--" she stopped when instead of being met with the familiar staircase of her old home, she was greeted with the cold empty kitchen of her one roomed apartment. Sliding to a stop, she looked sadly at the scene before gathering herself together. She grabbed her bag and an apple for her breakfast before leaving her apartment.

She walked briskly towards her first day at school since she left home. Rolling back on the balls of her heel, she stared up at the imposing building before breaking a large smile across her face and entered the oddly quite building. "Shit I am so late, way to go on my first day and all!" she hurried inside and found her classroom before sprinting in just before the teacher, flashing a smile she glanced around and saw a seat empty behind a fiery red head who seemed to be passing notes to another girl with blonde hair, they were looking at each other pretty intensely but she had to interrupt to ask about that free seat. "Umm excuse me? I'm sorry but I was wondering is that seat behind you free, i'm new here so i dont know if there's a seating arrangement or- then she remembered she just got in here before the teacher and this girl had the note in front of her, lexi leaned in closer to whisper -By the way, teach is just about to come in so hide that note pronto unless you want you and your girlfriend getting caught." She flashed a smile at the red head to let her know she was just joking.

Fuyu yawned as he entered the empty hallways, all of the students were in classes, he didn't particurally care about school, he studied online during the night but he still went to school in the day. He entered, his blonde hair covered his intense redish pink eyes, his bangs were just long enough so they covered his eyes. Contacts made his eyes water and he hated sunglasses, his backpack over his shoulder was slighty torn at the strap but he let it rip more over his shoulder, he may be weird but they didn't know how bad he really was, at least they haven't started moving away from him because of fear, it's because difference is something humans are not good with. He moved to the back of the room, stepping over someone's foot, who had tried to trip him, another kid shot his foot out and Fuyu came close to tripping, his teeth grinded and his fist curled, there was a slight flash of pink as he glanced at the boy, a third kid attempted a trip and his hand went to catch himself, it was on a kid's desk, a John or James or Jordon, he glanced at the boy, he slightly froze, his eyes looking at the other kid's, they were intense... A soul! A smile played on his lips, what an intresting turn of events.

Samael noticed a girl having trouble and grabbed the can, "Is this the one you wanted miss?" He asked, softly, the girl was tiny, she was at least a foot shorter, his eyes were a dull gray and his black hair long, his bangs covered the tips of his eyes. She was small but cute.

I nod to the boy then to the girl, thinking that maybe we should all move together. In a group. Soon enough, a girl rushed into the room and asked me if she could have a seat behind mine.

"Yeah, sure you can sit there. I don't own the classroom." I say, sighing as our silent conversation was interrupted by a beautiful blonde, which is probably a normal human being. If not, I guess this mutations isn't as rare as I thought.
