Time: 100 years after the Shibusen vs. Witches war

Setting: A post-apocalyptic world where witches are free, roaming and controlling much of the word. Tokyo, Canada and several other countries are the only free areas left that fight against and kill all witches that enter the vicinity of the state/country line. They are what are called safehavens. You are a witch or a meister with your weapon partner. There are no 'I hate this team' or 'I don't like this partner.' You're stuck with what you have, and if you can't deal with it, go out into the real world.. get destroyed by a witch. No one's stopping you.

Post:

Yoshiro looked around. He, among others, was in a pitch black cave. The crack of thunder echoed in the distance as lightning was seen a second later. "Lily.... get ready." he whispered to his weapon partner. The bubbly beast known as Lily nodded, jumping towards him and transforming into her weapon. "Hey! Over here!" he shouted to the outside, towards a witch with a dangling grey hat that seemed to live on it's own. She had a petite body and was very young looking. Though probably a millenium old...

When she walked towards the cave, she began chanting. "Panda anda panda panda spear!" she shouted, releasing a spear of bamboo at the cave. On the spear of bamboo were decorations, all taking the appearance of a panda bear. Yoshiro moved with Lily before shouting two words. "Soul Resonance!"

Before that happened, two other three star meisters like him ran out with various weapons towards the witch with him. Within moments of fighting, the witch fell. Dead.

"One down.... a million to go..." Yoshiro sighed.

::Kyun was in a burning labratory leaning over a body, a body that was barley breathing. Smoke and ash covered the walls, and choked the exits, and the arid smell of unknown solvents was leaking through the room::

Kyun: "Pyon! Pyon! Wake up! Please...?"

::He stared at the barely conscious form of his long lost sister as her eyes slowly fluttered open::

Kyun: "Thank goodness, I thought I had lost you... again... remember me? your brother?"

Her eyes opened but everything was still blurry, not being able to hear yet she saw, behind the man who was leaning over her, a bizarre scene. Everything was covered in dark ashes and broken, some things were even falling down. Her entire surrounding was like a battlefield. It didn't make sense to Pyon, she was regaining her sight and her hearing but her mind was still blank.

Suddenly flashes of memories of agonizing experiments and long lost brothers appeared before her eyes, she screamed out while arching her body, like she was possessed by a demon of sorts.

Looking at the man she realized it was one of her brothers.

" Kyun...Kyun, where are we? "

::Kyun grabbed Pyon by her hand and helped her to her feet::

Kyun: "We're in what used to be 'the lab' but I've destroyed what I could, hopefully nothing like this ever happens again..."

::He threw his arms around Pyon, and gave her a small reassuring squeeze::

Kyun: "Come now, lets get the hell outta here...!"

::He heard an evil crackling laugh in one of the corridors behind him, and he threw himself flat, under a desk::

Kyun: "I wish I could say we're safe now, I really do... But we're not out of the woods yet... not by a long shot..."

" Ok " Was the only thing she could say and even that was a weak answer.

She was overwhelmed by all of this yet she didn't feel the least bit panicky or stressed, it was like she had a hole inside her, where her soul used to be.

" We'll be alright, I know we will, you're here with me! "
She said, again with a weak voice.

::Kyun ran his fingers over Pyon's once fleshy skin::

Kyun: "My god... what have they done to you!?. Anyways, if you still feel too weak to run out of here, change into your weapon form if you remember how, preferably something light..."

::He heard a *crunch* if rubble behind him, and he spun around to come face to face with a witch::

Kyun: "S***! we've been found out!"

She trembled slightly at her brother's question...she didn't want to remember her past.

She touched her face but the touch was icecold and metallic, like she was a robot.

She moved her hand further over her face, towards her hair which was now ornamented with rubber spikes on both sides of her head.

" ... Oh "
She answered stoïcly before turning around to face the witch who was the " director " of the facility.

She suddenly felt her body twist and shake, before she realized what she was doing she was screaming her heart out and her arm had transformed into a flamethrower.

Uncontrollably she raised her shaking "arm" and shot out waves of white fire towards the witch, screaming with her eyes wide open.

::The witch snapper her fingers and spoke "Meta Meta Field!", and a pale pink bubble cracked to life in front of her, warding off the incoming flames::

Witch: "You think that you? my own creation, could beat me? *shrill laughter* let me show you something about the real world kiddie... I've killed you once already, and I'll do it again! Meta Meta Cannon!"

::A sleek cannon-like object appeared directly pointed at Pyon and fired off it's flashy payload, Kyun grabber Pyon by her wrist and twisted her out of the way as she finished fully transforming, and the desk behind them exploded in a brilliant shower of sparks flame and smoke::

Kyun: "Awesome! since when could you change into a flamethrower?"

Pyon spoke after a slight hesitation: " There are many modifications made to me... I have 4 different forms right now. "

Kyun strafed, circling the witch while spewing out white fire from the flamethrower. It seemed like the flames were being sucked up in a vaccuum however, since the pink buble rotated around the witch at the same speed and in the same direction as Kyun & Pyon were.

" Let me try something. "
She said to Kyun. " Maybe the bubble can only suck up flames, try shooting with your wavelength through this form. "

She vanished in a white flame before appearing in Kyun's hand as a high-tech handpistol.

" Go go go. "

::Kyun did a deft sideways roll while firing several short bursts with the hand pistol, it felt solid and steady in his hand, and it fired at a reasonable rate, but the charged bullets, like the flamethrower, was whisked away by the meta shield. once again the meta cannon re-targeted, and fired, this time at Kyun::

Kyun: "Oh snap..."

::He jumped straight into the air, and kicked off a wall, somersaulting over the witch, while unloading his soul wavelength into the gun to no avail as the shield absorbed all the fire. The wall behind him blew dust and brick chips as a new hole appeared in it, courtesy of the Meta Cannon::

Kyun: "This one's still not working! what else do you have?!"

As response Pyon transformed in a burst of white flame before reappearing in Kyun's hands as a grenade launcher...

" Try this for size. It launches grenades of either white flame or blue electricity ( either of our wavelengths ) at will. "

Kyun aimed and shot a grenade in an arc that swooped over the pink shield but the blast was absorbed by the shield aswell...

" Let's use my original form, I don't have memories of telling the enemy about it so maybe she's unprepared for it ... let's hope anyway. "

In a white blaze the grenade launcher vanished, while the witch was covered in smoke from the blast Pyon reappeared as a large katana.

" Go now, now's your chance. "

::while the grenade launcher was still half-unmade, and before the katana started taking shape, Kyun charged straight for the witch and slid feet first straight underneath the cannon as it went off again, destroying one of the supporting pillars in the room, he rolled up to his feet and struck at the witch with everything he had, remembering all the years he had spent training with his sister, and the weapons they used the share. The one familiar form of the katana formed in his hands as he lunged, and the tip of the katana broke the surface of the shield and slid straight through the witch, skewering her where she stood::

Kyun: "That's what you get for messing with my sister!"

::The witch seemed to break apart, and then smoke started pouring from it. a few seconds later "it" exploded::

Kyun: "Damn... so it was a fake? A droid?! we couldn't even take out the real thing, could we..."

::Kyun's legs were trembling. Partially from the adrenaline pumping through him, partially because of anger of being fooled, and partially just because he was scared. The suporting pillar which had been shot by the cannon moments ago finally gave way, and the roof started to cave in::

Kyun: "Lets get the hell out of here before this place collapses, or the real thing shows up...!"

A single tear slid over Pyon's mettalic cheek as she realized it was a fake, the real witch was still around, probably laughing.

She shook her head and answered her brother:

" Right, let's go. "
Before she even finished her respone she was already in human form, looking at the ground, the tear slid off the her chin and as it hit the ground she started running.

" Come, I remember flashes of this place's structure, I know a way out close-by. "

As they ran through the room, dodging rubble that was falling down they entered a corridor and after a while reached a wall.

" Here's where they entered me through, behind this wall is an exit. "

Not waiting for a response she placed her arms together and as they fused together and transformed into a grenade-propeller she blasted a hole in the wall, revealing the dark corridor behind it.

" Hurry, I don't know how long this exit will substain the damage. "
She said as she ran first through the darkness.

::Kyun sprinted down the dark narrow hallway after Pyon. In his last four months of undercover work he had payed a heavy price, but it had finally payed off, and now he and his sister were racing to freedom. Up ahead, a small glint of light shone through the darkness showing the way to the exit::

Kyun: "I haven't been up to the surface in four months, but if it's how I remember, the witches are still majorly in control. we can't afford to make a scene, or we'll be caught, and killed... or worse..."

::he chuckled a grim laugh at the irony of his statement in their current situation::

Kyun: "But we've already been through that all... have we?"

Pyon's smile was nothing like a smile of joy, it was a smile filled with sorrow and pain but she smiled nonetheless.

" Yeah, there isn't much else they'll be able to do to us that's worse than what we've been through, but let's not try to find out. "

She hurried through the corridor, arms seemingly flowing through the wind after her body as she ran to her heart's consent.

After a while they were able to see specks of light coming through the end of the hidden exit.

Nagisa laced her fingers together behind her back as she strolled down the street. She peeked at Saji out of the corner of her eye and smiled ever so slightly.

"Saji-kun, remember, no transforming while we're here, okay?" she whispered to him.

They were in a small village in the countryside, but they couldn't be sure whether there were witches in the area. In a place like that, if there was a witch about, it wouldn't be too hard to get noticed considering the size.

Nagisa's eyes skimmed over the fruit and vegetables that were laid out over the stalls in the marketplace. She stopped at one and bought a few apples. They weren't made of money, so meals generally consisted of small things of this kind.

"Here," she held one out to Saji

"If you say soo..." Saji muttered on the end of his breath

Saji picked up his pace a little to tenderly take the ripe apple from Nagisa. He inspected it over thoroughly before wiping it on his shirt and taking a huge bite, juices running down either side of his face as he looked towards Nagisa.

"Thanks?" He mumbled with a mouthful of apple, Questioning her generosity as he always bought food for them both.

Nagisa blushed a little at his questioning look.

"Um... I wanted to be helpful for once..." she mumbled looking at the floor. She reached into her pocket, pulled out a tissue and handed it to him.

"Saji-kun, you're so messy..." she giggled.

Viktor looked at his computer screen for a second as it flashed in the dark bleak room. The computer scrolled numbers, code and lines of random numbers, all which had been the results of his test. He scratched the sweat off of his head before walking over to his test subject on the table.

"Damnit... I just cant seem to extract this soul without killing them..."

He started at the dead body of a young man. Viktor released the seal on his body and it instantly disintergrated and turned into a bright blue orb. He took this object in his hand, feeling its power.

This power is weak. The reinforement and the extraction did not work this time either.

He took the untainted soul and tossed it down a shaft. It fell all the way until it reached the bottom. In this hole there was hundreds of similiar blue souls. All in storage, unused, awaiting for the next experiment.

Viktor left his underground lab for a view. This place was in a desolate desert of ruble and debris. Though at night, he could see the lights of a near by town. He was hungry and it was time to go get something to eat.

"Soul Protect..."

In an instant a barrier appeared, however it appeared around his entire laboratory instead of himself.

"Vector Pathway"

Viktor began to travel at a steady pace towards the nearest town. Soon he would arrive. His expression as bleak as the landscape.

"I'm not messy, I was just a little hungry. Sheesh, We've been walking for hours!" Saji took the tissue from Nagisa and smiled slightly before wiping his face and proceeding to blow his nose

"Did you want this back by any chance?"

Saji took a look around before turning to Nagisa again "So, What are we exactly doing, travelling around here? You still haven't filled me in on all this information little missy!"

He walked towards the fountain in the centre of the village. It was build by hand, most likely recently by the villagers. Atop it was a statue of some nondescript man holding a weapon. Saji took a quick glance at this figure before sitting down on the edge of the small fountain. Leaning back, filling his old canteen up.

"I know, but it can't be helped. We could find a hotel to stay the night if you'd like?" she took the tissue from him with a grimace and put it in a nearby bin.

She looked around in case anyone was listening before she answered "We're here looking for souls, remember. We've only collected 35 so far and that's nowhere near enough..."

Nagisa took a seat beside him on the side of the fountain and splashed some of the water on her face. They'd been on the move so long that she hadn't had a chance to clean up in a while. Her hair was feeling a bit greasy too.

"I really think se should stay the night" she decided, searching for the nearest bed&breakfast. She spotted one at the corner of the street and headed over to it. "Will this do for you, Saji-kun?"

"Hey hey, check out money bags here!" Saji said with a hint of sarcasm in his voice whilst walking infront of Nagisa placing his hands behind his head.

Saji looked the place over, It looked to be the most run down in the village

"I suppose this will do, Just don't yell at me when you get something like brown water or none at all, Okay?" He said as he laughed, pacing his way towards the hotel kicking the dirt with his feet as he walked

The hotel was what seemed to be the oldest in town, made entirely of wood it had large cracks all through the aged wooden frames. The building had no glass windows, But small slits cut out of wooden panel.

This places looks like it's going to collapse any minute, I don't know if I'll be safer outside of this place. What was Nagisa thinking? Saji thought to himself smirking as he did.

Nagisa frowned at his back. "It's not as though we have a choice considering..." she trailed off.

She moved to stand next to him and took in the full view of their lodgings for the night.

"It doesn't look that bad," she reasoned, "and it's just for one night."

She opened the door - which creaked noisily as she did so - and stepped inside. The inside looked no better than the exterior with peeling wallpaper and dusty furniture. She almost tripped over a loose floorboard on her way to the counter. The counter itself was only marginally less dusty than the rest of the furniture in the room.

She looked around for any sign of service but found none. She spotter a bell on the left side of the counter and pressed it a few times. It made a sharp ringing noise thet echoed around the entrance hall.

A short, bald man appeared behind the desk and Nagisa blinked at the sudden appearence.

"Good afternoon! Good afternoon!" he exclaimed, grinning broadly. "How may I help you, young lady? Perhaps you're looking for a place to stay? Yes? How long? One night? Two? Three? Our prices are at an all time low and our rooms are the cleanest around! Not to mention our fabulous service!"

Saji sniggered to himself wondering why everyone was so short around here since he was 6"3 himself.

"I'll let you sort it, It's your sort of thing... your expertise, Right?" He whispered in Nagisa's ear, slipping some coins into her pocket before walking off looking at the old photos on the wall. Most of the photos were black and white but they all had a strong yellow tint from what he thought was cigarette nicotine.

He walked around, picking up the various ornaments set around in the dusty spaces in the room. Saji already saw problems with this place, the ceiling was to low. He was made to duck where ever he walked so he was forced to sit and wait for Nagisa.

He looked up at the ceiling and the exposed beams. They were all bowing down, as if crippling under a tremendous weight. Each beam splitting slightly in the middle.

Oh, I cannot wait to be out of here in the morning! he thought as he sighed to himself.

Nagisa flushed pink. Oh no, she panicked inwardly, he knows I'm terrible at this sort of thing!

"So, what will it be?" the man asked, still smiling.

"Um... that is... we would like two rooms please." she replied, fumbling over her words. "For one night."

"Two rooms for one night" he repeated and she nodded. "Okay, that will be..."

Her eyes shot open when he gave her the total and she counted the coins Saji had given her as well as what little she already had. The man noticed her discomfort.

"Not enough? That's alright, I'm sure we can work something out! How about 10 coins? Will that work for you?"

Nagisa smiled and thanked the man for his kindness. It was still a fairly large amount, but it would be rude to push him any lower, and by the looks of it, the poor man needed whatever they could give him.

She gave him the money and gestured to Saji to follow them. The man led them up a flight of stairs and through a thin and badly-lit hallway. Nagisa tried to avoid touching the walls as they looked like they had build up a thick layer of grime if the dirty brown colour was any indication. The stairs creaked and so did the floorboards.

Eventually the man stopped in front of a door with the number 13 on it, but the paint had faded so it looked more like 3.

"The other room is just next door." he told them pointing to a room a little further down. "and the kitchen is downstairs to the right. Enjoy your stay"

He handed them the keys and left the two. Nagisa looked at Saji before unlocking the door and going in.
