Fantasy Son's and Daughters of Olympus

"What is it?" Freya asked, moving closer and looking at him. She pressed her finger between his eyebrows. "This bit scrunches up a lot recently..... what are you feeling?" She knelt on the floor, resting her arms flat on it, her hands under her chin and her elbows sticking parallel to the edge.

Hunter looked at her finger squinting since it was in between his eyes and then looked at her normally. '' A lot of stuff,'' he answered placing a hand on his daughter. He felt comfortable talking with Freya about this kind of stuff.

"Like what?" she said picking up the empty bottle and setting it aside as she picked up Cora without a second thought. She began to rub the little girl's back, waiting for the burp that she knew was coming, not really thinking about what she was doing.

''Guilt, sadness, grief, confused.....'' Hunter enumerated looking at her taking Cora from his proximity immediately missing the comfort she gave him. She was the only thing giving him support and keeping him all together.

Cora burped and Freya laughed softly, placing her back on the bed. She gave Hunter a small sad smile. "Sorry," she said with a half shrug. "Why do you feel guilt? And confusion?" she asked, picking out the two emotions that she couldn't place a reason for.

'' All of this... I mean it's all just ... everything at the same time. I have a kid that is growing so fast and I don't even know how to educate her. I don't know how the hospital stuff work and the rest. I just lost Ira yesterday and i already have to move on so fast. I mean... It's just so confusing.... After there is you and I feel like you are doing so much and I feel bad. It's not your responsibility yet you are taking so much.... I mean I'm grateful and all but I don't want you to feel forced at all..''

"You aren't forcing me Hunter. You're my friend. My best friend. And you need help, so here I am. That's just how it works," she said with a small shrug. "And she won't grow fast for long. She already looks about six months. Soon she'll be talking and walking and she'll stop soon after," she said running her fingers through the little girls hair. "Besides, you're a bigger baby than Cora and I practically look after you every day," she teased him with a soft giggle.

'' Shut up..'' Hunter said chuckling a bit, '' and I get that that's what we do, I would of done the same thing but how much did the crib and all the stuff coast? A thousand bucks or something? I pay you back. No questions. It's my responsibilities.'' he said extending his arms to get his baby next to him. He pushed himself to the edge on the opposite side of her. '' Come up.. It's bad for your knees.'' he said quietly out of concern

"Consider it a gift," she said smiling softly. She'd hardly tell him that it cost closer to two, but she didn't need the money. With all her investments and the money from her brief child modelling career, she had enough to send both Hunter and Cora to college for the next twenty years of their lives. She pulled slowly, her knees aching as she sat gingerly on the bed. "But you'll tell me if I'm overstepping right?" she asked, desperate for him to tell her that he would.

Hunter chuckled a bit, '' Well duh, I won't be shy about that. '' Hunter teased but knew he won't have to. He scratched his bare chest Cora resting on his arm falling asleep. He could honestly hear a faint snore. '' haha, She snores like me.'' he said trying to find resembles to him.

Freya giggled softly. "She has your eyes too," Freya said softly. "Ira's temper though," she said with a sad smile. "I miss her already," she whispered, tucking her knees to her chest.

Hunter look down hugging Cora a bit more, '' Yeah... I.... really miss her.'' he said trying not to cry anymore today. He already cried for several hours and nothing could be changed.

"Sorry... I...." Freya stuttered, feeling bad for having brought Ira up. She slipped off of the bed quietly and moved to the floor, feeling out of place. "I shouldn't have said anything," she whispered, her eyes fixed on Cora. "I have to go downstairs," she continued after a moment. "I need Abby to heal my wings, they're really starting to hurt," she said quietly as they grew from her back, covered in who knows what. "Call if you need me," she said, kissing Cora's and then his forehead as she left the room. As soon as the door was shut behind her she mentally cursed herself for showing that kind of affection towards Hunter.

As walked down the stairs quickly and as she stood in the doorway to the living room she was Abby, Demetri and Romeo all sitting around. "Ummmm Abz, can you take a look at my wings?" she asked quietly.

Abby's eyes opened and she nodded. Getting to her feet, Abby moved and stood behind Freya as she stretched out her wings. The usually black feathers were torn and battered like she'd been flying through thorns. "What happened?" Abby asked alarmed. Freya shrugged.

"I can't remember," she said as if she didn't really care, and Freya didn't.

Abby sighed and began to look for cuts, bandaging them up to stop the bleeding. "You won't be able to shift for a while," Abby said quietly as the two sisters turned to face one another. "Better get used to wings."

-------------

Hunter wasn't a bit surprised by her kissing his forehead and simply relaxed more on her bed. He looked at her leave his room and closing his door. At the same moment he could feel of the sadness hit him. He wasn't left alone from the start and was always surrounded by someone so he didn't want to be a nuisance to them when they seemed so happy. He swallowed a lump in his throat. Cora was asleep and he was grateful she was. He slowly stood up looking through his drawers finally finding the picture of Ira. One of the only ones he had of her. She had that genuine smile that she didn't show often to others. But this one was so honest. He looked at it for a few minutes tears threatening to fall. '' I'm so sorry Ira,'' He said his finger shaking as the tears fell. He couldn't hold it in anymore, '' I was weak and couldn't protect you. I'm useless and powerless. I wasn't the man I hoped to be for you.'' he said finally letting it all out in his dark room.

-------------------------------

During the whole morning, Desmond was looking through books and exploring his Huge Cabin. At some point, he explored all of the camp and was impressed by it. It seemed so fun and noticed a few teens and even kids starting to fill in. There was a dorm for minor gods and a few other cabins in another section. But he didn't care much. He walked back towards the Olympus gods Cabin and sat on one of the benches in the middle pulling out a paper from his pocket.

Idris had decided to return to her cabin after all. She'd have to get used to it, demon ritual or not. As expected of the Ares cabin, it wasn't very hospitable, looking more like a bunker than a cozy little cabin. The cots were clean, but small and close together and the light was dim. She'd thought it was broken down when she'd walked in, but she was starting to understand that all the revisions had been done, and this was just how it was supposed to look. She didn't like it, but there was something comforting about its austerity, instead of a pretense of grandiosity. She sat down on one of the cots and had thought long and hard about what had happened. When she felt up to it, she'd gone over to the Aphrodite cabin, but neither Abby nor Freya had been there, so she'd gone to the center of the courtyard and just sat there, hoping the shakiness in her legs would go away soon. It didn't. Unbeknownst to her, cursing a god meant you had to pay a hefty price in power and she wouldn't be back to full strength for a few days.

The man from earlier, Desmond, came and sat down not too far away from her, though she was some ways behind him, so he didn't see her. Bored, as she was, she found herself idly watching him, and the paper started bothering her, irritating her curiosity until she scooted closer and asked. "What's that?" She wasn't rude enough to peer over his shoulder surreptitiously, but she was curious.

Desmond was a bit surprised at first but was familiar with this voice. He glanced over his shoulder and saw Idris. He turned around to face her with a big grin plastered on his face, '' Hey you!'' he said as he quickly proceeded to her question. He lifted his paper, '' This paper? It's my bucket list!'' he said nicely.

Idris looked at it with a curious expression on her face, her head tilted ever so slightly to the side. "A bucket list for what?" She knew bucket lists were "things to do before ____" but that was about it, and the concept had never fully clicked with her since she'd never actually met someone with a bucket list. And in the first place what did it have to do with buckets?

'' A bucket list for fun! You don't have a bucket list?'' Desmond said laughing a bit because obviously she had no idea what that was.

"Why would I have a bucket list?" She asked, making it absolutely clear in her expression that it made no sense to her whatsoever and was of even less consequence. "What's the point of one? What's on yours?"

Desmond gasped a bit and laughed loudly, '' Okok, Let me explain it first. It's basically things you want to do before you die. It comes from the popularized phrase in a movie... hmm... I think it was named like that. The bucket list. Anyway, here is mine. It's basically a check list of dreams you want to accomplish or goals.'' he said passing his paper.

(There is a few more.)

Idris inspected it with a noncommittal expression, showing no emotion, before she looked up at him. "What's a Nation-Wide Water Fight? And why is it full of extremist things only?"

'' because I've already done all of the simple ones.'' Desmond responded with a wink. '' And it's a festival in Songkran, Thailand and like what it says. It's a water fight with thousands of people across the country. Seems fun. I wanted to check it out with my own eyes.'' He said taking back his bucket list as he checked one that he just finished. Meeting someone of the Ares lineage.

"Why did you want to meet an Ares kid?" Idris asked, actually finding this discussion engaging. "Or do you just want to meet one of every kind of demigod? By water fight, do you mean the kind with water guns, or people fighting in the water? What's the point of a water fight with water guns? No one wins."

'' Cause! I never saw one! I mean, I met more virgin goddess descent then an Ares kid.'' Desmond answered trailing off, '' and yeah! You described it just right. And its not that no one wins, everyone wins by having fun. '' he finished. Putting his paper back in his pocket with a wide smile. '' You should make one. It feels great once you accomplish one goal or realise a dream. Do you have any dream?'' he asked

She shook her head. "No. I don't have any dreams, and I've never fought without causing my opponents injury, water fights sound.... like they don't have much substance to them. That festival must be a pretty big waste of water." A faint look of noncomprehension colored her face. "Does it feel great to have met a child of Ares? I don't know the statistics, but I'd guess Ares would have less children because of his attitude, not his chastity." Her mother's few descriptions of the god, coupled with historical accounts had not been exactly favorable.
