Realistic or Modern So this is life.

Juggalette1
Life is a strange and long ride, you meet many people along the way. In a large city such as San Francisco it almost seems as if you can get easily lost in the crowed. In a small family owned coffee shop you watch the same people everyday. Some new people may come in, you have the occasional straggler off the street, the random tourist. You may go in everyday, or the same day once a week. You know you will see the blond with glasses that always orders a latte and sits and reads her romance novels, and you practically watched the little boy grow up of the young mom that comes in for her hot chocolate and beagle. This coffee shop has become your home away from home. Well what happens when you talk to them instead of just watching? Life, that's what happens. This role play has no particular plot, other than life. The characters in this role play will take on a life of their own. They will be the fuel behind this role play. I would like for everyone to try and be as involved as they can. A post a day at least would be nice, but I do understand life and holidays are coming up. If you don't put something into this, you will get nothing out of it. Your characters will be everything to this role play so let's keep it interesting but not to crazy. If you have any questions please feel free to ask. The coffee shop will not be the only place this role play will take place, but it is a big part of it.

The scene will start in the coffee shop (morning brew) On a foggy Saturday morning. It's the beginning of fall so the weather is chilly. the coffee house is smaller and very homely like. It does have a few tables but mainly couches, chairs, pillows. It's has a low lighting with low music playing from the radio (imagine match box 20 type music). They serve your basic coffee, lattes, bagels and sweets. They do offer WiFi and there is a small flat screen with the volume turned down almost always playing the news.

Cole smiles to himself as he draws a quick heart in the condensation on the shop window. Even though he had a long midnight shift just several hours ago, he traded a shift with another coworker about an hour ago; she had a rough night last night and needed the sleep this morning and most definitely not an early morning shift. Cole was the type that couldn't say no to people most of the time. So here he was, unlocking the Simply Life coffee shop front doors as the sun was peaking through the skyline.

Cole spent his morning as he would any other morning shift; by wiping down the surfaces and restocking the pastry shelfs. The shop didn't open for about another 15 minutes or so so he took is time, gently humming to himself. He started the pots and brews and set up all the machines before the other two workers showed up for their shift. They exchanged pleasantries before they went to their spots for opening; Cole was in charge of the bagels.

The week days are when the bagels are the most fresh, usually because Cole is working the bagel bakery, or as he calls it, the "The Bagelery". But this particular Saturday morning he put his best effort into preparing fresh bagels for the early shoppers. He was just setting out a fresh batch of display sesame seed bagels when one coworker turned the entrance sign to open, and the other started a smooth jazz playlist from the radio.

Rose pulled her jacket in a little more as the chill ran through her. She didn't have class this morning and actually had the day off work. To top it off she was also baby free, her mom left last night taking Grace with her for two whole weeks. She watched her feet as she walked looking up every few moments to make sure she wasn't going to hit anything. She hummed along to the sounds of Rob Thomas in her ears. It always made her feel better listening to her favorite band.

As she approached the coffee shop, she watched the open sign flick on. She didn't realize how early it really was. Not having Grace around definitely messed up her schedule. She took one ear bud out and opened the door, the warm air hitting her face. She smiled politely to the baristas. She took off her hat and jacket and placed them along with her book bag on one if the small tables in the corner. She proceeded to the counter where she ordered a coffee with three creamers and four sugars.

Ian strolled down the street casually humming to himself. He liked to wake up early on Saturdays so he could get to his busking spots before they got busy with people. He had his guitar case on his back, a mechanical pencil on his ear and his pick in his mouth as he approached the coffee shop he frequented. They didn't have a stage so he couldn't play inside, but playing just outside suited him just fine. It seemed to somewhat draw in customers too so the owners of the coffee shop didn't seem to mind, at least they never said anything to him or kicked him out.

Before he set up and started playing he went in to order his usual coffee. Black with lots of sugar. It was still early so there weren't too many people just yet. Ian did notice another regular however and gave her a small polite nod before going up to the counter. After he got his coffee he started to walk back out but stopped short. He quickly moved over to a table, set down the guitar case, opened it, and pulled out a notebook. He closed his eyes for a moment and then began to scribble in the notebook. He was going to be starting later than he liked but he had a sudden burst of inspiration and didn't want to lose it.

Cole was polishing down the glass display window when Grace entered, and turned when the soft bell jingled, alerting the staff of someone entering. "Good morning, Rose," Cole said gently as he walked through the small door to behind the counter, "No Grace this morning?" He put the glass cleaner and rag behind the counter before putting on his olive green work apron on for the day. His apron was decorated with pins along the neck strap; the top one was white with a rainbow heart, next to one identical but a trans flag heart; another was a Hufflepuff crest; a big dipper constellation on a black background; the Disney logo; Winnie the Pooh; the four Avatar Last Airbender elements; and another of the NASA logo. "Would you like a free bagel? It's fresh," Cole leaned over the counter to whisper to Rose as she paid, "first customer of the day," his smile told her it was a genuine offer.

He leaned back over the counter when the other man approached. He had seen him around and heard him playing but never learned his name. Cole watched the man receive his coffee and go to sit before writing music in his notebook, and he tied the back of his apron in slight jealousy. Cole never really learned how to play or read any type of music, and that lead to jealousy of the regular musician man; unconsciously prohibiting Cole to learn his name or story.

Cole returned to cleaning the display of the bagels when the two first customers got their good and went to sit, mumbling to himself about news his brother gave him recently.

A single glance at Marshal told you that she was no regular. It was a Saturday morning and yet she was overdressed. In overdressed in a fashion that begged for mannerisms or high-class conversation, but overdressed in the sense that no one would dress as she did on a casual Saturday morning. Instead of say, a simple sweatshirt, and sweatpants, she was dressed in a long white-clothed sweater, ripped black jeans, as well as black sneakers and black gloves. They collided well with her white hair, as well as the black purse. I good combination of the articles of clothing. The way she walked let loose to the imagination an image of prestigiousness, confident, sexy, all the adjectives used to describe a model, and well, that was what she was. But she was actually native to this place, she was born in the small town. But she'd been gone for so long, she had lost touch of her roots, at this point, she was pretty much a stranger. She looked and acted differently, and anyone who recognized her from high school might have had to take a double take, and slap themselves for thinking she could be the same person. But, she was. And she was thirsty.

"Hey uh, could I get a White Chocolate Caramel Cappucino?" She asked the man at the front.

Cole walked around behind the counter when he finished and started to update the little chalkboard that sat on the counter. It read: Drink of the Day: Caramel Latte Macchiato, and Thank you for Tipping! have a wonderful day! : ) Cole was finishing up the smiley face when Marshal came in, stopping and staring at the beautiful newcomer. Cole smiled and turned to wiped down the back counter.

The man that was at the register was much more affected by Marshal as she sauntered in. His name tag read Ramesh. he stood in bewilderment as Marshal ordered, his mouth slightly agape. when Cole heard no response, he turned around and nudged Ramesh in the side with his elbow. "White Chocolate Caramel Cappucino? Earth to Ramesh..." He glanced and gave an apologetic smile to Marshal. Ramesh blinked and blushed, awkwardly nodding and typing something into the register, "y-yep..."

Marshal smiled, letting out a small snicker at the reaction of the man in the register. Her younger days had humbled her, so reactions like this still... shocked her. She was confident yes, especially in the booth, but actually getting real time reacts still made her feel like an outsider from her own body. She smiled at Cole, and nodded. "Yep, White Chocolate Cappucino. Also, two blueberry bagels, lightly toasted. And can I get some creamcheese? Just put the order under Lee."

Marshal gave another look around the cafe before her eyes stopped and locked onto Coles apron. She shot up with excitement and ran over to him, a wide smile on her face. "That is so cool, did you decorate that?" she asked, looking up at him to catch his eye. Regardless of what she went through, she was a Geek at heart, and in New York, there wasn't really anyone to share her thoughts with. Everyone was either fake, too grown, or too... boring. She had to admit that attitude had even begun to reflect back on to her. But seeing him now, with a Hufflepuff pin, an Avatar pin, even a Disney Logo? It struck daggers against her heart, and she couldn't hold back.

Luca Serafino

Appearance

As was typical for most mornings, Luca pulled open the door to the small cafe that became a staple of his college life. He had been given work as a teachers assistant so he had some papers to grade. Queuing up, Luca sent off a quick text to Carmen, confirming that they were having dinner that night. Once she replied saying it was a plan, Luca put the phone away. Waiting as the girl in front chattered away. Luca was in a black coffee sort of mood, knowing it would be tiring to grade the same paper 24 times.

Getting to the top of the line, Luca put in his order, with a soft italian accent he spoke up "Can I have a black coffee and croissant please" He said, taking out his wallet and fishing out a 10 dollar bill. Paying for his drink, he made his way to one of the large, soft chairs. Putting his things down, he began to take a drink and start working on the damn grading.

Both Ramesh and Cole nodded as they started on the order. Cole had just put the two bagels into the toaster when Marshal came up to him, "u-uh..." he stuttered a bit. As he was used to interacting with people in the sense of business conversation of work, being approached for casual conversation was a bit different. He made a series of nervous gestures like turning away and shrugging, rubbing the back of his neck, "y-yeah.. I decorated it myself... Sometimes people don't agree with- with all of them but..." he shrugged again and his cheeks filled with a light pink. He was referring to the two pins he had on that included the heart and trans and gay flag in them, "I-its one way to show personality in a smaller sense..." he smiled a bit sheepishly towards Marshal, but his eyes caught the movement of Luca entering.

"E-excuse me..." Cole near whispered when the order of a croissant came through. He pulled it out and placed it on the counter wrapped in a little paper bag. The croissant was fresh and warm and crisp but also light and soft. Cole retreated back to behind the pastry casing again but kept his eyes on Luca. The only thing that broke his undivided attention was the ding from the toaster. Cole jumped a bit then went and prepared the two bagels into the little paper bags, then set them on the counter with some packages of cream cheese next to Marshal's coffee.

Rose was sitting at her table still smiling from the free bagel Cole had given her. She began working on her computer unaware of how full the coffee shop was becoming. It was only untill she took a sip of her now not so hot coffee did she notice her surroundings. Most of the people she seen regularly, the guy with the guitar she she thought was pretty handsome and had more guys than she ever would. Another guy she has seen around a few times. The woman in that caught her eye however was definitely not a regular. Rose couldn't help but admire her outfit, she looked down at her own shirt sure it still had spit up in it even though she didn't have the baby. She watched as the young girl talked and carried on. Knowing she couldn't be that way with complete strangers made her feel a bit insecure. Her live was completely different from other people her age, hell her decision to have a child all alone at this age showed that. Rose bit her lip as she grabbed her cup of coffe and headed to the line for a refill.

"Ah... Alright, I understand." She smiled, she had no problem with the community he was apart of. She'd been through too much in her life to know that being judgemental was a bad trait. And anyways, she had met many different kinds of people in her line of work, so it was practically a natural thing to her now. She did feel however that her excited tone might have caught him off guard, just a bit. Not exactly the best way to make a first impression, but she couldn't help it. It'd been so long since she'd met someone with genuine interests that related to her and that she actually liked. Well, she should leave him to his work. It was rude of her to disturb him anyway. "Thanks." She said with a smile and grabbed her order as well as paying, but before she walked off to sit down she glanced at whoever had captivated the man's eye.

Safe to say, she wasn't prepared. He reminded her of one of her exes, that facial hair and the chin, but at the same time.... almost more humble, simply in the way he walked. And maybe a tad bit stressed? But strangely it only stacked onto his attractiveness. She didn't hold her gaze for too long, however, it was rude anyway. She made her way to a couch at the side of the cafe and sat down with her order. Now... she had to plan on where to stay because she'd be damned if she stayed with her family.

Ramesh and the other worker kept stationed at the counter while Cole grabbed his rag again and went to the sitting area, where the giant windows formed the walls. The morning sunlight had been streaming in and exposed all the dust and fingerprints left on the window. The third barista and Cole's supervisor, Maria, instructed him to go clean the windows and any of the tables that looked dirty.

So Cole went over to the lounging area where Luca was seated, spraying the window before looking over at him. He had been watching what he was doing for a couple of seconds before he spoke, "Th-this is probably a dumb q-question but are you a teacher?" He chuckled in a nervous manner, "Y-you're grading and... And you- you uh appear to be young.. f-for a teacher..." Cole said quietly. "Sorry.. .excuse me... None of my business." He bit down on his tongue and turned back around the wipe the window he previously sprayed. Stupid Stupid Stupid you're just a barista... he thought. Cole glanced off to the side and noticed Marshal looking at him. He finished wiping down that large window and went to the front one, where Ian sat and scribbled music; Cole caught a brief glance at the sheet before he turned to the window.

On one half of the paper Ian was scribbling lyrics, his handwriting fast and thin with a slight slant, almost as if he were writing in italics. On the other half of the page was sloppy chord notes with even sloppier arrows pointing to different lyrics. It was a bit jumbled but he knew exactly what everything on that page meant. He knew that people were probably staring and all this writing was eating into his time. At this rate most customers would already be in the store and would only hear him play as they left. He preferred to let people hear him as they entered and left, giving them more opportunities to donate if they liked what they heard. Occasionally someone would even give him something as they both entered the shop and left, but today wasn't going to be one of those days.

Ian was entirely focused on what he was writing, blocking out all the conversations around him but after a point his inspiration hit a roadblock and he stopped. He just sort of stared at the page in front him for a long while, only being aware of his immediate vicinity. After a moment there was movement in his awareness bubble. Figuring it was a person, but not bothering to look up from the page he spoke. "Hey, what rhymes with shadows?" he asked what could have been a bird for all he knew. bonesbo bonesbo lette lette

Luca Serafino

Appearance

Luca had been absorbed in the papers he was grading, he was taking the occasional sip of coffee, he noticed you cleaning the windows as he worked. When he heard the quiet voice ask about him being a teacher and possibly being too young, Luca looked up and raised an eyebrow. Taking off his glasses, he was about to answer when he heard the stuttered apology and the squeak as you took off. Finding the moment oddly cute, Luca threw you a half grin before returning to work. Seeing the still warm croissant on the table, he took a bite and could not help the moan that left his mouth. The pastry was warm and light and tasted divine.

Cole finished wiping down the front window when Ian spoke up. He turned around, unsure if he was the one being spoken to. Ian wasn't looking up at him, so he hesitated before his reply, figuring he was talking to himself, "uh.. froze, compose, expose, knows, rose, throws, snows, glows, willows, rainbows, foreclose...?" Cole listed off some rhymes quietly, looking around hesitantly.

He glanced over to Luca again out of habit, seeing the last second of him looking up before he turned down again. Whatever. There were more windows to clean. He went over to the windows closer to the lounging area where Marshal was seated, and Cole could swear Ramesh was observing this pretty girl. Maybe Cole could get her number for Ramesh, he needed a girlfriend. "How- how's your morning so far? I haven't seen you in here before, what's your name? We-well you can answer just one of those... Sorry I don't mean to... I'm not very good at conversation..." Cole chuckled sorta nervously before starting to spray down a window near him.
