Leavenworth, Washington. November 1995.
over a week had passed since the fruitful and much anticipated thanksgiving feast flew by as quickly as it came for families in leavenworth. family members, dispersed far and wide, now retreating back to their respective lives to financially recover before impending christmas festivities. amidst the savory remnants of everyone's dinner table, conversations between friends echoed amongst the townβone mentioning the possibility of reunification between childhood friends that had long moved on from their play.
for the close-knit group, the anticipation of it hung palpably in the air. the mere mention of this long overdue gathering sparked a spectrum of emotions between them no matter how much distance separated their homes. some bubbled with joy, their hearts racing at the thought of seeing familiar faces after years of separation. others, however, were tinged with a subtle dread as the specter of unresolved issues loomed over them.
regardless of the emotions at play, an undeniable anxiety blanketed the air. it had been years since these friends stood in the same room, the last time being when they threw their graduation caps in the air and started this tradition of a holiday family vacation. it was a promise made between them to stay connected no matter what. but despite their earnest attempts, the relentless demands from jobs, growing families, and veiled secrets conspired to keep them a part. these family vacations welcomed fewer and fewer faces until leavenworth never saw them together again.
yet, the call of their hometown, was like a friendly tug, pulling these friends back to where their memories with one another began. gearing to patch up the gaps of time and unforeseen circumstances that kept them apart, to begin with, the idea of this reunification had become an opportunity for them to get away from whatever kept them visiting. however, their own drama seemed to have clung to them like a cast shadow, becoming impossible to shake off no matter how far they've traveled. can they shake it off to enjoy the company of their friends again? or will the vacation reopen wounds faster than it was supposed to heal them?
hello hello & welcome to snow'd in. as you may have already guessed, this group roleplay was made in the spirit of the upcoming holidays that are just around the corner for us all! myself & my friend, sunny, are total fans of the cutesy, cozy, slice-of-life bits so we decided to bring this to the table for those of you who are also looking for something fun of this genre!

plot
the storyline.
this group will follow the lives of a close-knit group of friends returning to their hometown of leavenworth, washington to celebrate the holidays together. towards the beginning of their college career, they made it a tradition to gather around and stay connected as much as possible. however, for whatever personal reasons that have lingered, leavenworth saw less and less of them until they eventually stopped traveling to see each other altogether.
november 1995 will be the first year they all see each other yet again. whether it's an escapade from the chaos at home or just an opportunity to genuinely reconnect with their group, they all have finally found some time to set aside for this family vacation. in short, this is either all in good fun for them or an attempt to get out of their own heads. can it all stay merry though?
location
leavenworth, 1995.
the cozy town that seen it all! their friendship started here in leavenworth, washington. from primary school to the end of high school, the memories that the group have made with one another has been etched in its history. some friends may have stayed behind to grow their own lives there while others left in pursuit of their goals. they all may have aged but the inviting scenery of leavenworth has remained the same, awaiting their return.
the entirety of this group will be stationed here! mentions of the town may be sprinkled throughout the group to add a sense of realism, but characters will not be navigating outside of this setting (in-character) until the holidays are over.
residents
the characters.
the grp will be following adults who now have their own lives. they may have known each other from a very young age, but they're now working jobs and possibly even having (or already have) families of their own. regardless of where they may be in life, the first "family" started with the 6 friends who started this holiday tradition. the rest of the characters* involved in this group are just along for the ride.
* sunny & i really want to keep a sense of realism going, so we'll be allowing a few misc characters in the group such as current spouses or even siblings that may have grown up alongside the group. a maximum amount of these types of ocs hasn't been decided yet but it will not pass the core six.
group etiquette
...
general guidelines.
β’ players applying must be 18+. this won't be touching on mature themes, the age requirement is just for the comfortability of other players, including the gms.
β’ this is a casual, yet detailed grp! no one-liners are allowed under any circumstances considering there are no post requirements for this. we would like quality written posts with a minimum of 350 words per post (we're very chill tho).
β’ realistic faceclaims only! please be diverse & cast accordingly. keep in mind that this group is based in the 90s when picking your fcs! it's not a must that they must be from that era, but it would be nice to see.
β’ this is an application-based group, meaning no role is first come first serve. my co-gm & i will decide what characters fit best for this storyline.
β’ must have discord; all ooc + plotting will occur there.
player discourse.
we (the gms) aim to keep the energy of our discourse positive at all times! meaning, we expect all parties involved to be treated with kindness and respect, as well as allowing for everyone to have comfortable and total control of their own characters. we believe the following guidelines go without saying, but just in case, we ask that:
β’ all group plotting made is consistently discussed with all relevant players. there is to be no god-modding or taking control of other characters' queues without the permission of their writers.
β’ drama and romance is strongly encouraged in-character, but keep things peachy ooc.
β’ avoid conflict at all times if possible & involve the gms if needed.
β’ we (the gms) reserve the right to terminate players and make necessary decisions for the exit of their characters if said player continues to be an issue for all parties involved.
