i feel like i'm losing control. maybe i should let myself go because this is so predictable
Bo Kang stomach nearly jumped through his throat at Ju Yong suggesting him to let him drive. He was not going to have his life flash before his eyes, so prematurely in his life once again. But, as he opened his mouth to deny him, a smile broke through the other’s faux stoic expression. It was a joke, thank god. He let out a relieved sigh as he gently shook his head, lightheartedly showing he was disappointed with the other. “You scared me, such a cruel joke.”
He unlocked the car with the click of the button on his keychain and opened the driver’s door before climbing in. After buckling his seatbelt and getting comfortable, he shoved the key into the ignition and twisted it. The grumble of the engine signaled him to start driving the car. The spot before him was empty, so he drove straight through it rather than backing up.
Was it strange that he had remembered how to get to the elder’s house? Teenage memories pieced together with newer memories and created the drive there. Turn right, turn left onto the highway, everything came together so easily. He didn’t even need Ju Yong to put his address into his phone, and he neglected to ask for it. While his eyes steadily watched the road, he reached over with his free hand to turn on the radio. He let the music play throughout the car on a low volume to mask any silence.
He found himself remembering various skating routines and competitions they went to together. It had never occurred to him, until now, that Ju Yong was supposed to be his number one rivalry. He squinted his eyes as he thought about it further. The one he was supposed to beat in every competition was the closest one to him at the time of his skating competitions. It was funny in a way. His mother always tried to compare him to the elder as if their skating styles weren’t so different.
“Did you know?” He asked, forgetting he was only thinking in his head. “I mean, did you know we were “rivals” when we were younger? I just realized that” He explained as his eyes flew to the rearview mirror.
