Iris swallowed, intimidated by the Aylsian in front of her. She was ready to flee at any moment if the need arose, but she spoke as calmly as she could muster. "My name is Iris Shinescale of the Drakonids, and this is Alden. He asked me to bring him here," Iris wanted to sound as non-threatening as possible, so she kept her voice quiet but clear. She noticed that the guard held a spear tightly in her hand, causing her to become even more nervous.

Lilith giggled at Iella's response, "How risqué." She spoke in a playful tone, feigning offense for a moment before laughing. Lilith looked back to Flore when she heard her speaking. "Let us save such talk for when we are inside the castle, and after the festivities," she knelt down and gently patted the child's head with a smile. Lilith straightened herself back up upon noticing Shizuko quickly walk towards something, or someone. The look on her face made Lilith a little uneasy for a moment.

After turning to see what Shizuko was moving towards she let out a small sigh when it was just a random couple. One of them looked very odd though. Very familiar. "Excuse me, sister," she spoke to Iella before walking over to Alden and Iris, standing beside Shizuko. Lilith stared at the one called Alden. "You there, Alden. Hold still, let me look at you..." She crouched to look closer at him. Could it be? Her grandfather told stories of a being who ruled the night in it's travels. An entity that had tried to find its way into their homes long ago but was thwarted by her grandfather one night. Or maybe she heard the story from someone else during her travels to the East as a little girl?

Lilith stood slowly, "hmmm... Carry on." She couldn't put her finger on it, it had been too long and too much had happened since then for her to properly remember. The giantess made her way back to Iella and Flore and the prince, "Should we wait for others to arrive? I'm quite hungry so I would like to not wait for too long."

Alden's golden eyes traveled amongst the group, examining each face with curiousity. So this was the group that had been called... They may not need his help. But...
One of the giantess' stepped forward, crouching to look at him. He knew the pale skin and their stature. What was their title...he couldnt remember. She seemed curious...examining him. Could she know? Doubtful, but it made him grin. Finally landing on the spear before them, he looked it over, before glancing to its owner.
"I am Alden, this is iris, as she already explained. I have come to offer my aide. The Vacua are threatening my livestock, and are a blight to many. I wish to give my assistance in their defeat. Iris here, is my aide. I havent had to deal with those of your ilk in a long time, and she is to help in The case i say something out of line"

Things inside the palace were running as smoothly as could be expected, which of course meant that one of Cal's children just had to deviate from the plan. As she made to enter the great hall, her lady-in-waiting Helene pulled her aside.

"Your Majesty," Helene said, in the tone of voice that meant one of the little princes had done something ridiculous. "It seems that Erion isn't in the great hall."

Cal rubbed the bridge of her nose, sighing. "And where is he?"

"On the front walk. Saying hello to the Champions."

Oh, of course he was. When Erion had first begun to lose his sight, the royal physician had warned Cal that blind children could be clingy and fearful, and that she ought to encourage him to walk about independently as much as possible. And of course she had, and he'd taken to it like a duck to water, and now the boy was never where he should be.

"Shall I go fetch him, Your Majesty?"

It had been impressed upon Cal over and over in her first year as queen that the reigning monarch and his wife did not greet guests at the door. That was for footmen and soldiers. She and her husband were to sit in the throne room and wait for lesser beings to come to them. But Erion had already blown that little convention right out of the water, and there was nothing conventional about this meeting anyway. "No, I'll go," Cal decided. "If they're getting a royal greeting, they might as well get a proper one."

Her husband raised an eyebrow, which meant Is this a wise decision or one that you're making because you're bored? Cal raised her eyebrow back, which meant I am capable of multi-tasking.

"Do make sure that the girls don't wander off," she said aloud, and went to find her youngest son.

When she found him, he was with guards, which was some small reassurance. He was also surrounded by giants and beggars, which wasn't. Cal descended the front staircase with loud, ringing steps, and let her skirt rustle along the ground a moment in warning before she took Erion by the arm.

"You're meant to be with your siblings," she chided him, then looked up at the women in front of her. The gray-skinned one was recognizable as an Omoran, and must have come quite a long way. The other was slightly smaller, though still much larger than any human. "Champions. It is an honor to welcome you to Rioan. I am Queen Calamint. I trust your journeys were smooth?"

How did I get myself into this? Iris thought to herself as she looked nervously between the giantesses who could crush her under their feet, the guards who were much more physically capable than she, and who she assumed to be the royal family. She did not fit in here. Not at all. She wondered if she should just leave, but she couldn't let Alden stay here alone, especially if he was a socially inept as he seemed. So, here she was, completely out of place with no business here other than keeping someone she barely knew in line and had never really consented to the job in the first place. She didn't even know how she was supposed to greet these people! The Drakonids simply greeted their superiors with a simple extension of their right hand and a lowering of their head. How did they greet each other? She had no idea, of course she had no idea!

Iella smiled and laughed softly. She liked this woman. She'd have to ask her to describe herself later. She'd love to know what she looked like. Perhaps she could also describe the palace. She knew the Temple and each of its crooks and crannies by heart.
She turned to look down at the other voices. She wasn't really following what they all were saying, but her attention was drawn in by someone wearing very loud heels. She just couldn't get around the idea of heels. Or shoes for that matter. She was always barefoot at the Temple and to her this place was no exception. She loved feeling the ground beneath her feet. She looked down to the queen and offered her a smile. Her Wren bird chirped from her shoulder.
"Its an honor to meet you, your highness. My travels here were safe. I enjoyed the earth beneath my feet as we travelled through the lands."

The sound of heels caught Lilith's attention. She turned to see the queen, taking note of how different she looked compared to the other children. 'I guess they never get all that big' she shrugged to herself. "It is great to meet you. My journey was a little troublesome. A few attacks here and there but nothing out of the ordinary." Lilith waved her hand dismissively. The Vicua were more of an annoyance the further away one got from their main forces. At least to the Omorans.

When Iella mentioned feeling the earth beneath her feet she simply sighed. Lilith was barefoot as well, but had traveled in a box. She didn't have the fortune of being able to feel the ground with her feet like Iella had. That bird was starting to bother Lilith though. If there was one thing she was grateful for not having to deal with on her travels, it was a bird. "Calamint, are we to be expecting more arrivals? I brought quite a number of gifts based on the information my cousins were able to provide me, so I want to make sure I am able to divide the gifts up properly."

Flore turned and grinned softly at the prince, brushing out her freshly patted hair with her fingers. "Ooh, of course! What isn't exciting about being intimidated by huge, intoxicatingly beautiful queens and vessels?" She hummed, taking out her braid and beginning to retie it into another messy fashion. She laughed quietly at herself. "You'd think that, being fae, I would have been at least above 6'0." She paused, looking up at two new strangers entering the grounds. "However, I find my size to be quite misleading since..." Her voice trailed off, her eyes settling on the tall, haggard man.

She peered at him quietly. Her brain began to fill with a slow wave of static, one of which she had encountered before. Flore took a silent step back, facing the castle discreetly as she tried to get through the horror in her chest. The man looked absolutely- well, normal- like any beggar or poor citizen she would often see on the street. She watched her general speak with both strangers intently, her ears ringing loudly. Flore rubbed her eyes with a hand and distracted her attention to the Drakonid. She tried to recall the last time she had seen one, however she did not leave the castle as much as she'd like, and the static didn't help jog her memory either. Flores suspicion slightly eased as she examined the nervous posture of her, a small indicator that she wasn't looking to confront anyone.

Her rippled thoughts were quickly interrupted by the sound of the Queen, causing her to jump and immediately swerved her body to face her approach and bow.

“No need to worry, young one. Your kind is quite welcome here.” Shizuko flashed a quick smile at the Drakonid, relaxing her stance slightly. She still wasn’t quite too sure about the beggar though. Her attention was quickly dragged away though from the sudden arrival of the queen, immediately dropping to take a knee and murmur a quick greeting of “My Queen.”

Prince Erion flushed in embarrassment at his mother’s scolding, tilting his head to the floor and rubbing his wrist with his other hand. “My apologies mother, I just couldn’t wait to meet the champions. I-I wanted to see what they looked like.” Well, he wanted to try and see, but he certainly couldn’t. The prince quickly shuffled behind his mother, folding his arms behind his back.

Shizuko's smile put Iris more at ease. These people wouldn't hurt her, at least, she was pretty sure they wouldn't. So she smiled back at the Aylsian and glanced back at Alden. Everyone seemed very put off by him, Iris included, although maybe that was just because of the way he had approached her so abruptly. Well, that's what Iris told herself. Besides, when was Iris ever not put off by these people? They were all quite strange to her. But even then, Alden was something else. Where the others made her uncomfortable, Alden made her feel unsafe. Shaking her head, her turned back to the seen at hand. Should she try to copy the Aylsian's bow? Or was that only something guards or citizens did? What if she offended them? The last thing she wanted was to offend them, so she opted to simply clasp her hands in front of her and try to look respectful.

Taking a glance about, Alden gave a frown. A crowd was forming. Everyone wanting a peak of the champions. He grumbled, before stepping forward.
Placing his right hand to his heart, he bowed to the queen, and gave another bow to the prince.
"Forgive my interruption, but Im afraid the towns people are gathering. If we wish any sense of...civil conversation, we may want to move along...we wont be able to hear ourselves, let alone each other once the crowd grows enough..."
Another wayward glance to the forming crowd. The beggar seemed...uncomfortable. Uneasy with the amount of people...
