Fandom Shadowhunters: The Romanian Institute

jinkx

amateur sleuth
A basic notice:

The institute based in Transylvania, Romania was established many years ago- about the time the stories of Dracula began to rise. It was built by my great, great, great grandfather Dracos Ravenna- a great Shadowhunter, who reached out to all sorts of creatures aside from Shadowhunters. Our institute works hard to treat everyone equally, (women, vampires, ghosts, children etc.), which is probably why the Clave are working so hard to shut us down. The Clave are very against new ideas but we welcome them here.

The institute nowadays is run by myself, Fleur Ravenna. I took over after my father's... Ideas lead to him being executed. Not that the Clave like to speak about it, they like to pretend that they're fair to everyone. My daughter Katherine and my son Niklaus also live in the institute with me and are training hard to become fully fledged Shadowhunters.

We do hope that you, reading this now, would like to join our institute. It is located beside the Carpathian Mountains and looks like a pile of rubble to the untrained eye. To the trained eye however, it appears to be a large gothic styled castle with two towers.

Yours sincerely,

Fleur Ravenna,

Head of Institute.

Roleplay Rules:

1. No Mary Sues or Gary Stus. I'm starting to get seriously bugged by them.

2. Some swearing is allowed but nothing is excessive.

3. Romance but fade to black (and don't make it love at first sight, that stuff makes me puke)

4. No god modding for obvious reasons.

5. Don't centre everything on your character.

6. Don't hopelessly rip off other plots.

7. I'd like reasonable sized posts- a short paragraph at least. Obviously, long introduction posts would be good and shorter normal posts. No one liners!

8. I understand a few mistakes- specially if English is your second language- but spelling everything wrong and using the same words over and over is annoying.

9. Maximum of five characters.

(I finally bothered to write my first post. So, we can start)

As always, Katherine awoke early. But when she pulled the curtains back, there was light outside, which meant it was morning! She got dressed as quickly as she could, falling over three times in the process and getting her shirt on back to front. She slowed down and tried again, managing to get all her clothes on properly this time. Then, she raced off down the corridor to her brother's room. She'd taken to waking him up recently because otherwise he slept in until well past noon. Also, she was beginning to get the feeling that he was trying to avoid her and that simply wouldn't do. When she reached his door, she knocked on it gently.

"Nik?" she pushed the door open, "Nik, it's morning! Do you want to train with me?" Her brother, who had been stirred by the racket Katherine was making, lifted his head off his pillow. He took one look at the clock beside his bed that claimed it was 4:30AM and went back to sleep.

"Nik!" Katherine insisted, "Come train with me. Please." Niklaus, her brother, was ignoring her and was already asleep again. He was very drowsy nowadays, though Katherine wasn't sure why.

"Go away, Kathy." Niklaus said. He knew very well that she hated being called Kathy or Kath or Kate or anything like that. She liked to be called Katherine.

"Katherine!" she corrected, "I just want to spend time with you, Nik." She clambered onto his bed and poked him in the face. He just scowled and rolled over. Obviously, he didn't want to talk to her. So, Katherine got up and left the room, feeling a strong sense of failure. She didn't think anyone else was awake yet so she just moped in the corridor outside Niklaus's room. Why didn't he want to spend time with her anymore? She missed him...

Silas had been up for about an hour, just walking around the halls of the institute as usual. This always impressed him you see, the paintings on the walls and the decorations in the roof. He did not even have an artistic way of seing things. But anyone with a head on the right place would think this was beautiful. As his eyes followed the swirling pattern, he reached the training hall.

As usual, it was empty. Not a single soul inside. This pleased the young man of course, not having to worry about others and just focus on his own techniques. Somehow he always managed to loose his focus when others were around. Without a single noise, Silas moved to the window in the corner of the room and sat down while opening it. His legs were dangling off the edge, a simple push and he would fall for quite a while since the room was on the fourth floor. And below him were a bunch of rose bushes just by the wall of the building.

A silent sigh could be heard as Silas brushed his cold fingers against the damp window sill, leaving a few marks on the edge. It was still rather cold outside and the water from the rainy hour the other day still decorated every tree and stone. However, the cold never bothered Silas. Or atleast when it was just a bit chilly outside. During winter, the cold was really a burden. But that's almost everyones' opinion.

Silas sighed again and looked up in the sky to watch the pale clouds float by.

Savannah had been aloud to bring her cat with her to the new institue, considering they where closing hers, unfortunatly he was also really good at waking her up at random times in the night. His soft mewing and kisses on her cheek always woke her up. " What is it now, Synyster?" 04:30, opening the door she followed her cat down the hallway. There was noises about the institue, the smell of breakfast food was slowly bbeginning to fill the hallways from the enormous kitchen. Synyster had lead her to the door, she hooked his leash and braved the cool weather outside. Savvy had decided to take her shower and remain up after walking the cat, after the shower she threw on her treaining clothes and ran around the block a few times. The cool air had always pushed her to run faster, harder, and longer to build up a tolerance to the weather. Finally, after her two miles, Savannah returned to the training room for some basics, only the basic things in the morning.

A loud noise from the large wooden door made Silas furrow his eyebrows and turn his head towards the door. And here I thought I would be alone.. Someone entered the room allthough, he couldn't quite see who since a large statue of an angel stood in the way. The statue of Raziel to be exact. The one angel to be the creator of the first Shadowhunter. Silas completely turned around and jumped down from the window sill and rolled up his sleeves to his elbows. As he crossed his arms and leaned on a metall pillar he took a look around until he fond what he was searching for. The one who entered, Savannah if he was not wrong. He barely knew her, maybe he had been talking to her once, but only exchanging a few words, mostly about proffesional things. Not those "get-to-know" things. But them again, he wasn't quite the one to make friends with everyone in an instant.

Silas brushed a hand through his black hair but quickly returned to the position he was just standing in. Crossed arms leaning on the pillar. With his tounge, he played a little with his two piercings on the inside of his bottom lip as he watched the young woman in silence. A silent sigh was heard and he stoke his thumb on his decorated arm. The main reason for his tattoos, were to keep his runes a tiny bit less obvious to the mundane world. Even though he was able to hide himself from any mundane, he still wanted to be able to interract with the humans. He looked down on his arm to follow the messy pattern off tattoos from his hand to his elbow, where the sleeves of his shirt covered the rest. His tattoos all had a meaning and reason for being there. They were now a part of him. Without them he would feel naked and empty. They completed him. Silas sighed again before looking up from his arm and looking around the room again, hiding slightly in the shadows of the black pillar.

Lucille Michaels stepped out of the portal she had made and into the grand hall of the Romanian Institute as her twin Alisander Michaels and older brother Xavier Michaels stepped out as well before the portal closed, leaving them with their bags.

"So... This is it then." Muttered Alix as he glanced around slightly, his green-hazel eyes observing everything quickly while stepping to stand beside Lucy. "And now the question of where is our host or hostess..." He said while fixing his glasses, doesn't need them but likes them for reading.

Savvy pulled out her targets, that is if large slices of paper could be considered targets. She had drawn many different types of demons, and various other creatures upon the paper. She stood about ten feet back, a smile appeared on her face as she pulled out her signature blades. The sound of slicing paper filled the room, within five seconds Savannah had flung all of her first set snd was admiring the target from afar. Once up close she could see the damage done, one in the forehead, one in the heart, in the ankle, and in the wrist weilding a weapon. Savannah was beginning to become scary good with those throwing sets, chuckling to herself she wrapped her wrists and hands setting of to spar with a hundred pound bag. Punch after punch after punch, she had never known anything besides training and protecting the mortals.

A small creak in the door sent Savannah wheeling towards the door, no one was ever training this early. Meow. Savvy laughed, " oh, synyster you frightened me." She reached down picking up the cat, " you know better than to be in here." Once she had gathered up her belongings Savannah left the room heading back to her small bedroom. She placed the cat on the bed and changed into her clothes for the day. Finally deciding on an outfit she threw on a black psir of leggings and a long teal teeshirt with her black boots, it was a lazy outfit but if need be she could fight in it.

Lucy shrugged slightly as she looked around while walking a few steps. "Well... Since no one is here to greet us... Maybe we should go get some rooms for ourselves." she said while starting to walk up the stairs of the grand staircase, carrying her bags as she does and checking to make sure that no one was in the room or any of their clothes were there before going in the room and putting her stuff down.

Alisander and Xavier looked at each other and sighed slightly as they followed their sister up the stairs and down the hall to find rooms for themselves, hopefully nearby Lucy's room so that they wouldn't be far from her and in case they needed her or she needed them. They cared about their sister quite a bit since she was the only female in their family, their mother had died in a demon hunt.

There were people standing outside their door and Fleur wondered if she should greet them. She'd been watching the trio from her window for a while and was considering going to welcome them in. She had not been able to sleep through the night, yet again. Perhaps, she should consider life counselling. That was when there was a knock and her bedroom floor flew open. Fleur drew a knife and spun around to find her daughter standing there, smiling.

"Good morning, Mother." she beamed, "I brought you some tea." She set the tray down on the desk and poured her mother a cup of tea, spooning sugar and splashing milk into the cup too enthusiastically. Or perhaps... Was her hand shaking? She finished with the tea and looked up at her mother.

"Thank you, Katherine." Fleur said, "Would you be a dear and go and welcome our visitors in?"

"Of course, Mother." Katherine said, and she raced out of the room and there was a loud series of thumps as she ran down the corridor, slamming the door behind her. Fleur winced, sipping at her tea. Why must the child be so rowdy?

Katherine was heading to the front door but found out quickly that the new people had already entered the institute. Now, they were wandering the halls. She watched for a moment, chewing on her hangnail, staring at them. There was one in that room and that one and that one. She decided to speak to the one that looked eldest.

"Hello." she said, after a moment, "Who are you?" There were three of them from what she could see. One female, two males.

Lucy looked up and seemed to look for the source of the voice and spotted Katherine. "Ah, hello. Sorry for just walking in but to be honest, we were standing outside for a good 30 minutes. "I'm Lucille Michaels." She said and gestures to her brothers. "These are my brothers. My twin Alisander. And my older brother, Xavier." She said before looking at her. "And you are?" She asked while Xavier and Alisander stood behind her, talking about something.

"I know. Mother knew you were there." Katherine smiled, "Your brothers, hmmm? I have a brother too. You'll meet him if he ever leaves his room. I'm Katherine, by the way, Katherine Ravenna. My mother is the owner of this here institute." She gestured to the building they were in, slightly over dramatically, "But it's fine. Make yourself comfortable, choose a room- we have lots- and I hope we can be friends!" She finished, smiling widely.

Lucy smiles a bit and nodded. "Thanks, we will. And yeah maybe." She said with a grin as she went and picked an unoccupied room as her brothers followed suite and picked rooms beside hers.

Savvy passed the group of new inhabitants, she chuckled to herself as she passed them, synyster on her heels. Katherine was giving them there welcome per the usually here. She composed herself and headed down to the great hall for breakfast. This time when she passed by they had all dismissed themselves. She assumed most of the group was either unpacking or exploring the institute.

Sebastian had just finished getting dressed as he stood in his room, before looking toward his door once he heard footsteps and light voices that slowly became more coherent. The voices weren't familiar to his ears...new occupants? Visitors? Shaking his head, he decided to dismiss the thought. Time to eat. Stepping out of his room, he made his way from the second floor down the staircase into the foyer. From there he made his way to the great hall, his silver hues examining the halls he had walked down for five years now..

Lucy had finished changing into her usual clothes and stepped out of her room, she scanned around slightly when her eyes landed on Sebastian. "Oh hello there." She said while giving a slight nod.

Sebastian stopped his progression when his eyes gazed upon Lucy, standing beside the girl and giving her a smile. "Hey Luce. How's it going?"

He leaned against the wall, chuckling lightly before looking back toward the female. "Forgive me, it's a bad habit. You could say it's like a...sixth sense."

Lucy squints her eyes at him slightly before snapping. "Your a warlock aren't you? Well... Part? I think." She said while looking at him and running a hand through her hair.

"Tsk Tsk Tsk..." He shook his head, placing a hand on his hip. "Everyone always mistakes me for one of those sparkle-slingers. If you must must know Honey, I'm a sorcerer. A Downworlder in a house of Nephilim." He grinned, always joking how the Shadowhunters often look down upon those not of their own kind.

Lucy smiles a bit. "That's pretty awesome. I haven't met a sorcerer." She said while looking at him and leaning against the opposite wall.

"I guess you could say there aren't as many of us as there used to be." He gestured down the hall with his head before beginning to walk off. "Coming?"

"So Lucy, where were you before you joined us here at the Institute?" He asked, making light conversation with the girl as they walked down to the Grand Hall.
