Chosokabe Aegeria
After several days on the road, the castle was finally in sight of the main Chosokabe host. Aegeria pressed the men on without rest in hopes that they could make it before the fighting began. (sorry it's a short post I just want you guys to know I am alive)

"My men will also accompany the Night Raid party, the Mibu Clan just loves a fight in night." Kyoshirou added letting loose a light chuckle. But he had a menacing look upon his face as he thought of the battle to come, how some of the Hyakki Yagyo would enjoy a chance to assume their true forms. Besides they are youkai, they belong in the night.

A collection of figures in the shadows could be seen ahead of the Katagami forces as the Mibu went ahead with inhuman stealth and glowing eyes instead of marching with torches. At the forefront were the Yuki Onna who were using their cold manipulation produce a mist to camouflage the Mibu as they made for the enemy camp.

Following the Katagami forces were the Oniware group. At the front of them was Mizuaki and Shugachi the two walked side by side. An eagerness was building inside the two as combat seemed to creep just around the corner. Mizuaki looked to Shugachi and asked him. "Do you think I'll get to bare my fangs Shu-chan?" Shugachi shrugged his shoulders not looking at her as he answered. "Who knows I'd hope so it'd be a shame not to get to go all out in this war." One member of the Oniware stepped close to ask a question. "Shugachi, Mizuaki how should we strike when it's time?" Shugachi and Mizuaki both smiled at the man. "Rip and tear just like normal." The man smiled and nodded his head to the others. The entire Oniware clan seemed to ooze and thirst for battle as they walked.

Yori bowed again to the lord "As you wish", then he walked off to the left and vanished inside of the mess of tents. He quickly picked up a horse from the stable and strapped a bow, some arrows and a bed roll to the back of the saddle before leaning against his tent behind him and falling asleep.

Chiisagata Valley Nighttime:

Yori was riding with the lords unit but trying to stay as far away from the lanterns as possible, in this dark they just hurt is night vision. He kept scanning the horizon he could feel some sort of power in the air it felt almost like a youkai using their powers but magnified, then he spotted it the mist that just happened to be fairly localized and heading towards the marching army. Momentarily Yori puzzled over what to do, he couldn't really tell Lord Katagami about it because it would reveal at least part of his heritage and he didn't want to do that especially with those spell casters around. In the end he settled for just moving towards the lord to help protect him as a grin began growing over his face, the coming dance would be beautiful.

"What in the world?"

Masaki pulled back on the reigns of his horse and motioned for a halt to his guards as the strange fog materialized in front of his army. A few moments passed like an eternity as the front ranks of his spearmen continued their march into the sea of clouds. Then suddenly shouting, and sounds of battle began to swell within the fog. Lord Katagami grit his teeth, it looked like the battle had come to them instead.

"Send word back to the mercenaries, we're under attack!" He shouted over to one of his riders as he drew his blade, it's white metal catching ablaze beneath the moon's silver light.

"Men of the Katagami! It's time to remind these fools why it is we're feared the nation over! Charge!" The roar swelled through the valley as the Katagami army each screamed out their own battle cry and ran forward into the fray.

Fujimoto Ayako
Location: Outside Castle Fukashi

The Fujimoto army had set up a camp outside of the castle walls. There was no reasonable way that they could fit their cavalry and sortie out in a moment notice in the castle. Besides, Ayako quite liked the tenting feel of it, even though it was before a battlefield. She was resting in the general's tent, eating a small snack and playing some Shogi with one of her vassal clan leaders when she heard a thunderous roar. "Looks like the enemy has met the night raid. Keep guards on alert."

Ayako leaned back. Hopefully the night raid doesn't yield anything too concerning.

The Yuki Onna remained at the front maintaining the fog that now entrapped the Shogunate forces. Sometimes what appeared to shards of ice who find their way into the bodies of Shogunate soldiers, others would have a limb suddenly frozen off as a yuki onna hits them with a freezing breath. Others would just be a shattered pile of red ice, already implying what had happened to them. Even Kyoshirou had the Yuki Onna pull back commanding them with his Leadership abilities from being a Nurarihyon.

He signaled the next part of the attack to go, and suddenly it would seem something cut the fog. There would be the sound of a high speed wind and then the scream of a soldier split in two, several soldiers cut, and some suddenly have their arms cut off. All from bloodless wounds, this was the doing of the Kamaitachi among the Mibu Clan. The Mibu had to pull back though after this because the Kamaitachi dissipated the fog. The Mibu would instead now move around the enemy army towards their camp under the cover of darkness.

When the mist fully clears it would seem the first few ranks of the Katagami were slaughtered but the remains and wounds make no sense. This sight would surely instill fear into the hearts of the human soldiers, especially through things such as slipping on the slippery ice remains of the Yuki Onna's victims.

Shogunate Main Camp

The onmyouji had stayed behind to help organize ths Shogunate encampments, they did have to listen to the Tsuchimikado because they were the ones guaranteeing their safety with their Onmyodo. One the camp was in order all the different lords forces in a circle surrounding the War Room Tent within the Tsuchimikado portion of the camp which was arranaged at the center so the camp magical defenses could be maintained without problem. The outer edges of the camp were layered with paper charms, stone walls formed with Wu Xing, and sealed barriers formed with the 64 Hexagrams Commands. All in all the Shogunate camp now looked more like an impromptu fortress than a ragtag camp.

When the Mibu arrived near it they discovered they couldn't get because of the wards set up by the Onmyouji and were forced to turn around as they surely didn't want to be caught between the Tsuchimikado and a returning force of Katagami forces they attack on the way here. The Mibu began withdrawing back behind the frontlines of the forces engaging the Katagami. The dark hazy cloud from their yoki vanishing in the distance with swiftness.

Komori Takahiro and Lord Fuka

The enemies all out attack on night one was very unexpected and definitely threw the imperial forces for a loop. When the thousands of lanterns appeared marching into the valley the Komori and around three fourthsof the fuka forces formed up outside of the castle and began there march. The Komori rifle men formed up into three rows, while the archers formed up behind the, and infantry behind them. The Komori Calvary had a different mission tonight, they would be lead by Dula to hit the enemies castle.

Takahiro held his forces back until the fog dissipated and the Mibu forces pulled out. Smirking he brought down his fan in a signal to fire. "Archers, Rifles, Fire!" He could here his instructions being repeated through both his own and the Fuka ranks. A second latter the loud clap of hundreds of rifles and thousands of bows being fired filled the night as the projectiles went hurtling towards the katagami forces. To his right he saw the Fuka forces begin to march forwards and he held his hand up to signal for his own infantry to begin there own advance. With a loud cheer the Komori infantry began a slow steady advanced, there lines completely parallel with the Fuka forces.

While the infantry advanced the Archers would fire two more volleys over the heads of the infantry men. Once the infantry were in the way the archers fell silent and the rifles as well. four messengers were dispatched, one to Dula and the Komori Calvary to begin there assault, one to Lady Fujimoto to order her to begin the assault on the enemy flanks, one to the Furo to ask them to join the main battle or commit more troops to attacking the enemy camp, and finally to the Tanako's to ask them to remain back at the castle to act as the defensive force with the remain quarter of the Fuka army. This small scale night raid had turned into a large battle very quickly.

Asato Hisamune

Hisamune was slightly surprised, this battle had escalated very quickly. The shogunate forces must have been looking for a swift victory, a very swift victory. A messenger appeared before him and relayed the Komori and Fuka's request for the Tanako army to hold the castle for now and he nodded and thanked the messenger. Nodding his thanks to the messenger he turned and entered Honoko's tent. "My lady, we have new orders from the Komori and Fuka comanders."
animegirl20 animegirl20

Honoko was in her tent waiting incase any new orders were sent. She had been outside watching what she could before she decided to head back in. Everyone seemed to be holding their own which was good. She turned her head towards Hisamune as he came in. She then remembered he had spoke to Lord Fuka before they left. I wonder what that was about. She snapped out of her thoughts when Hisamune spoke up. "New orders? What are they?"

Asato Hisamune-

"Lord Fuka and Lord Takahiro have requested that you remain inside the castle to act as its defender with the reaming quarter of the Fuka army already in the castle. Looks like we will be missing out on the fun." replied Hisamune with a light smile, his grip tightening on the handle of Ransu. Inside the castle was definitely the safest place of his lord. As talented as she was he didn't want her to go out on the battlefield, after all one wrong mistake and it is all over. Despite the fact that he didn't want her to go onto the battlefield the same couldn't be said about himself. The sounds of combat were calling to him, but his place was not on the battle either, it was by his lords side.
animegirl20 animegirl20

"Oh?.......Huh....I guess it would be better to make sure the castle is protected incase anything were to happen." She stood up and picked up her umbrella. "Alright then at least we won't be stuck in a tent all night huh?" She said laughing. Honoko was about to head out but stopped as a question came to mind. "Asato am I the only one going back? I mean do they request my troupes come as well?"
Dante Verren Dante Verren

Asato Hisamune

"That is true, being inside of the castle is better then being inside a tent, well outside a tent in my case." replied Hisamune with a smile on his face. When Honoko asked if she was the only one going to the castle Hisamune realized he wasn't being clear enough. "Apologies my lady, it seems I misspoke. Lord Komori and Lord Fuka have requested you and your forces act as the defenders. You will not be going alone."

Shirobara Osamu - Head of the Shirobara Clan
Time: Night time
Place: Chiisagata Valley
Characters: Katagami Masaki

He remembered his father words to support the Katagami at the battle, but the same time seek for a peaceful solution if one available. His intention to this trip with lord Masaki would be not to press for a bigger war. With the changing in leadership and other matter at hands, the Shirobara clan is currently not fit for war. Their troops, weapons and resources are quite low compare to other clans in the land.

Travels along with his lord, he felt something odd. Strong horse footstep, rushing, rally from many side... An ambush! The enemy has taken the first act.

"- Protect Masaki-sama at once! Anyone else who doesn't have Katagami's leaf on his armor come close to the lord, you slay him down!"

The young daimyo then charges to the battle site. The Katagami soldiers are still resisting strongly but the valley is narrow and keep this fight long would be a foolish idea. With the sword held strongly in his hand, Osamu rushes into the enemy and started to cut down his enemy. He noticed the symbol on his enemy, Komori's men. They're a huge force and would've prepared for this raid carefully.

An enemy spearman come at him with the spear but Osamu parries it away, his strong body allow him to stay balance on the horse back and with great reflexes he thrust the tip of his blade to the enemy throat. Another come at him as he slash his sword across his eyes. More and more come yet none could touch the young swordman on his horse as he keeps rushing forward.

"- Masaki-sama! What's your words ?! The more time we spend here the worse it get. Should we fall back and regroup ?"

"Oh good ok then gather out troupes and lets get ready to head back." She walked out of the tent and was about to head to her horse. She stopped as she could hear the battle going on. She turned to look towards all the men fighting. Well it looked like they had the upper hand. "They should be fine." She noticed one of her soldiers and told him to get her horse. "Hurry up we'll be leaving now." He quickly hurried to go get it she waited. While waiting she thought about Hisamune. She noticed he had tighten his grip around the handle of his sword. "I wonder if he's alright." Once the solider brought her horse over. She thinking about waiting for Hisamune to help her on but decided not to wait he busy enough right now gathering everyone. "Alright help me up on the horse."

Fujimoto Ayako
Location: Outside Fukashi Castle

As the game of shogi progressed, a messenger burst into the tent. Turning around quickly at the newcomer, Ayako looked at him and asked, "A full battle?" "You best see yourself." With that response, she rose and walked out of the camp. Across the valley laid thousands of lanterns. "Wake up our cavalry and prepare the horses!"

Within moments, men were groggily getting up and moving out of their tents. Servants ran down the ranks, giving everyone a sip of sake and miso soup to wake them. Soon they formed their units and ranks, 400 force strong. Their respective commanders approached her. "You attack as a single force from the right. You deal as much damage but do not follow them to their camp. Not a single flame until your blade is against their side. Mounted archers will cattle the enemy to keep in line. The mounted swordsmen will slash through them. Cooperate with the Komori's guns and make sure all of you live. I better not see a single dead horse out in the field!"

The commanders bowed and took to their own horses. After the orders were relayed, the cavalry division turned to face her. "DRIVE YOUR BLADE INTO THEIR SIDE! COMMENCE ATTACK!" "YES MY LORD."

Chiisagata Nighttime

On the far right flank (enemy's left) came the distant sound of hooves. Slowly the thunderous noise approached the enemy troops. The moonlight glinted off the swords and armors. Soon lights were aflame as they crashed into the Katagami facing Fuka's forces, slaughtering and trampling infantry forces.

The fog dissipated as quickly as it came but there was no reprieve for the Katagami men. As soon as the field cleared, a hundred points of light opened up with a deafening crash as whatever remained of the vanguard troops were torn apart by the hail of gun fire.

"Damn it all! Rifles?" Masaki grit his teeth. It was just one more unfortunate event after another. There was still no word from the Oniware or the Ichikoji, and the Tsuchimikado had remained at base leaving the flank exposed. Suffice to say, this battle had quickly turned into a bloodbath for the main army.

Despite this, Masaki attempted to at least maintain a loose facade of control, barking orders to his troops in an effort to at least minimize casualties and develop a counter attack against the Komori rifles.

"Captain! Have the frontline spears spread out and return fire with bows. Have our rear forces move forward to cover our flanks!"

No sooner had his troops began to move than the thunder of hooves began to roar across the field. The Fujimoto calvary crashed against the unprepared left flank, tearing a nice wide hole into it until infantry from the rear guard arrived to attempt to salvage the situation.

The only sign of good news was the arrival of the Shirobara. Though he'd never admit it, Masaki was always glad to see those banners on the field. He pulled back to meet up with Osamu as he came rushing towards him.

"Impeccable timing Lord Shirobara! We just took a major hit to our left flank. Move your forces to engage the enemy there, I'll focus on dealing with those rifles!"

Yori spurred his horse forward lamenting him being nearer the rear of the forces, he managed to make good progress slipping in between men who cleared as they heard the galloping hooves. Yori jumped free of his horse just as a large shard of ice found its way into his horses flank causing the beast to collapse as he vanished into the fog a slight red aura surrounded him and he managed to cut at least one Yuki Onna down and left a few more with sword cuts surrounded by slightly blackened flesh, a wordless command resonated in him causing him to immediately bring up his guard and deflect the blade of a Kamaitachi but still receiving a shallow cut on his shoulder. He silently cursed himself for being so lax, he new that he was fighting Youkai yet he still limited his speed and strength.

The fog began to clear signalling the retreat of whatever force was allied with the youkai, through the rapidly thinning mist he spotted as several soldiers forming ranks and pointing them at the Katagami. He cursed again, audibly this time, and dropped low and began moving back through the ranks towards his current lord, earning many odd looks from the warriors but currently they were focused on the apposing army as the fog cleared. The booming retort of muskets mad Yori cover his sensitive ears all the while continuing his movement. Once he heard the cheer he turned holding his sword still in a guard, he wanted to get back to Lord Katagami but he knew that to face away in an infantry battle was just asking for trouble.

Once the two lines met he lost himself in the dance, while it may not be particularly interesting the shear number of people made sure that it was challenging non the less. He heard the thunder of Hooves as cavalry impacted the left flank but he couldn't see the damage, the younger appearance that he was currently using had the downside of being shorter than many of the warriors around him. He looked around before seeing Lord Katagami and he began cutting a path towards him, he had been placed in the commanders unit and that was often where the best would come to fight, he berated himself, even as he fought, for rushing into the fog in the first place.

The battle had turned to chaos. Another clap of thunder roared out as the Komori unleashed another volley. A stray shot managed to strike Masaki's horse and the beast reared back, throwing him from his saddle with a heavy thump before running off into the dark beyond.

Masaki laid still on the ground for a moment. Dazzed, angry, and sorely hurt, a part of him didn't want to bother getting up. Eventually he did manage to pull himself up from the cold dirt, his head still spinning as he clutch his side. A warm feeling pooled on his side and began to seep through his bandages as one of his more persistent wounds opened up.

Stumbling around and clutching his sword he tried to get some manner of awareness as to where the fight was. Suddenly out of the corner of his blurred vision, a figure came running up to him. He turned, sword raised and ready to cut down all comers but instead he once again met with a familiar face.

"You... You're the boy from the camp." He muttered, still half dazzed from his fall and not doing much better on account of his injuries.

"Looks like you managed to lose my horse, huh?" He dropped to a knee and clutched his side tighter.

Komori Takahiro and Lord Fuka

Both the Komori and Fuka forces had now engaged the Katagmai and there vassal clans forces, the battle was swinging in the Imperial forces favor. Takahiro rode on top of a black horse and flanked by four of his retainers sitting upon white horses. His eyes analyzed the battle from on top of his horse, so far so good. A battle cry from his right caught his attention as a Katagami foot soldier rushed him with sword in hand. Giving the soldier a blank stare he deflected the blade and brought his own down onto the mans neck.

Another series of claps signaled another volley of rifle fire, most likely targeting any fools who thought themselves brave enough to try and take out his rifles. Turning his attention back to the battle he tried to look for lord Fuka and there he saw him. Lord Fuka was in the think of the battle surrounded by his guards. His guards made sure that only one soldier at a time would face Lord Fuka and the man seemed to have win every fight for now. Takahiro raised his sword and pointed upwards at the moon shining overhead, "warriors of valor and loyalty, the traitors are almost broken! Fight on and finish this battle! FOR THE EMPEROR!" Takahiro's war cry was slowly picked up by the soldiers near him and soon spread to almost all the Komori and Fuka forces. The yell was loud enough that it momentarily dwarfed the sound of clashing steel and thundering rifles.

As Hisamune was walking out of the tent he was met by multiple commanders of the Tanako army, he quickly gave them the order to fall back inside Fukashi castle and they nodded before hurrying off to ready the men. Now that the orders had taken care of he caught sight of Honoko trying to get onto the large horse. Quickly making his way over to her, he handed Ransu to the soldier near the horse and stopped next to Honoko. "Need some help my lady?"

Shirobara Osamu - Head of the Shirobara Clan
Time: Night time
Place: Chiisagata Valley
Characters: Katagami Masaki

Follows the instruction of the Kitagami, Osamu and his men arrived to the left wing, where it's has been resisting a brutal attack from the enemy cavalry troops and doesn't seem to be able to keep up much longer. The huge numbers of cavalry troops are from the Fujimoto clan, as it shows the clan symbol on their armor. It's number is bigger and definitely better than the Shirobara army at cavalry combat. With only 200 cavalry troops at hand and the rest is infantry troops, the young daimyo of Shirobara clan understands that he need to use it smart.

"- Split them up!"

Shirobara cavalry splits into two and roams forward, into the side again the outnumbering enemy with their sword held strongly, their pride. Osamu intention is to draw the Fujimoto army away from where they have dug deep enough.

His plan is more or less effective, but yet his cavalry force is still outnumbered by the Fujimoto. He knows he must resolve this fast before Fujimoto cavalry eat them all up. Hold his sword strong, he hold his sword to the infantry army behind him.

"- Men! You see those horse with the symbol of flower inside the square (the Fujimoro symbol) ? I'll give you a bonus of 50 coins for each horse you kill!

"- Charge! For the name of Shirobara!!"

The Shirobara swordmen know exactly what to do when they hear lord Osamu's order. Shirobara infantry quickly to spread their formation wider and roaming into the battle field. As they use nodachi(long sword) to approach from longer range, Shirobara's troops look for the leg of the horses as they charge, try to dismember as many horses and bring Fujimoto men from horse back into the ground. Once taken into the dirt, the cavalry of Fujimoto have no advantage again the swordmen of Shirobara.

Osamu feel confident as he joins the side of his men. His trick has worked and the damage on the left wing has been patched partly though the side of Fujimoto is still charging in with big number

Ikko Arashi patted the side of his heavily panting horse as he pounded to the gate of the castle. Damn the Emperor for giving him his orders so lately. Before, he had been on a mission, assassinating demons who refused to side with the Emperor. He barely returned to the capital when the Emperor ordered him to move out and head to the Fuka castle and assist the forces there by himself. Of course he was nearing legendary, but if this castle was doomed, he hoped he wouldn't fall with it. However, it seemed that way. As he road here, he had spotted the Chosokabe. Even as he felt their Ki, he knew they were tired, but a pincer attack on a castle... That would be a potential disaster. No, it would have been a disaster if he hadn't sensed them. After that, he expanded his sensing and found that the battle had already been engaged, and it seemed like their were many many abnormal ki in both forces. It would be a terrible battle.

He and his two servants who carried his equipment reached the castle gate waving the emblem of the Emperor, his personal seal was on his Ikko Flag, so the guard immediately let him in. Now, he needed to find the leaders of the forces and tell them what he had seen, as envoy of the emperor. Arashi temporarily recruited a soldier guarding the castle to lead him to the general in charge of the castle. The soldier told him that Tanaka Honoka was incommand of defense, but was returning to the castle. He ordered the guard to lead him to her. The soldier withheld a thigh, before leading him to the commander, Tanaka. He approached her gravely. "Hail General Tanaka! I come with tiddings from the Emperor and a danger that lurks.

As the solider was just about to help her on he suddenly found himself holding the Ransu which was quite heavy he almost toppled over. Honoko glanced at the solider then looked up at Hisamune. "Oh yes though be quick I don't know how much longer he can hold that." She said laughing a little. Just as she was about to get on the horse she heard a voice from behind her and turned to see who it was. "Hm?...danger that lurks?"

Arashi nodded grim and inclined his head to the rear of the army. "Now, an army of the Chosokabe approaches from the rear of the castle even now, making great speed to join this battle. I advise you ride to the castle swiftly and use this to prepare for any surprise attack. This battle even now will be decided on your action."
Arashi bowed slightly. "I am a servant of the emperor, and I report directly to him, hence I will see where I will lend my aid. Do you have any questions?"
He looked into her eyes and as an after thought, thought she was quite beautiful.

"Well guess we better hurry then." Before she spoke again she noticed him looking into her eyes. She cough slightly, "Yes, well uh..." She turned to Hisamune. Hisamune gave the new arrival a slight glare, he really didn't like the look in that mans eyes.deciding to ignore it for now he quickly picked up Honoko and boosted her up onto her horse. Once she was on top of the lager animal he took Ransu back from the soldier who now seemed to have a relived look on his face. Hisamune was so use to Ransu's weight that he forgot how heavy it actully was. "My lady please head to the castle imeditly with the first wave of soldiers. I will make sure the rest are gsthered up and make it to the castle safely."
