Fantasy Second Heaven

Reyn

Undying God of Eurobeat
The sun had risen over Second Heaven, climbing through an ever-cloudless sky as the people below began to wake up and continue their lives. The weather was, of course, unnaturally pleasant, the trees were in their permanent blossom, and the birdsong was loud, but not grating. The citizens walked around somewhat aimlessly, greeting each other with polite smiles and welcoming gestures. They all seemed so perfectly happy with their lives, but a few of the smiles seemed a little...... forced.

Levi was lying on the sidewalk wk,nobody around him seemed to care or even notice him for that matter. Levi open his eyes and pick himself up. "So this is heaven...looked much better in my head." Levi said to himself "It's better than that shitty foster home, I'll tell you that."

Tara

The girl rested on the roof of her "house". Lying down with her hands folded behind her head, she glanced up at the sky. She had always liked it up here. It was quiet, and peaceful. Hardly anyone ever bothered her when she was on the roof; and whoever did often just stopped by to offer a polite "hello". Tara enjoyed watching the clouds roll by, and of just getting lost in her own little world. Even before... It happened, the roof had been her favorite place; so there wasn't any suspicion from her mindless neighbors or alike.

The roaming guards weren't able to see her expression when she was way up here. It was a nice change of pace; and the roof allowed her to freely think and emote with very little fear of others seeing her. Today, just like every other day, was
perfect. At the beginning, life was wonderful. Every day was perfect, and every night was splendid. Tara couldn't even remember how long she had been in this strange place, the days had gone by in a blur. The same cycle seemed to repeat itself over and over again; but she had never grown tired of it. That was, at least, until something changed. It was like a switch in her brain had been flipped. Suddenly, she was able to see things differently.

The perfect days were
too perfect, the splendid nights too splendid. Everything that had given her mindless joy now sent off warning signals in her brain. But the girl couldn't just announce this change. Whoever did that, or whoever showed signs of being in the same situation as she either disappeared or were beaten down ruthlessly.

Tara found herself longing for some imperfect thing to come along. She wanted some sort of catalyst to stir things up, and to make life in Second Heaven actually interesting for a change; and not just some cookie-cutter Utopia. She wanted everyone else to see what she saw. More than anything, the girl craved imperfection.

"Why not? What's wrong?" Levi looked around, the smiles, the colors, the buildings. This place is unnaturally happy, unearthly even.

Lance Naito

"The name's Lance Naito." He seemed to be thinking about someone. "Genocide better be behaving...." He mumbled

"Second heaven? What about the first heaven?" Levi accidentally put the cat paw on his lap without noticing "Is place some sort of enigma or is it known? Haven't read The Bible in a while."

He seemed to not care about the cat paw. "All I've heard is that this is the place where niether saints or evil people go. Kinda Neutral People.... And I hate it...."

"Who runs this joint? Can I meet him or her?" Levi was still worried about that paw of his. "Do you want to walk around?"

"Then come on." He started walking to where the apartments were

Tara

Sighing softly, Tara pushed herself into a sitting position. She couldn't stay up on the rooftop...She knew that much. Eventually, someone would grow suspicious of her, and then she would be treated no better than a rabid mutt. Her old habits could only allow her so much relief, she had to put the mask back on at some point; or else face dire consequences. "Come on...Get up and face the day." The brunette climbed to her feet and stretched her arms up above her head.

Yawning, she put her "mask" back on. A small smile placed itself on her lips, and the excited light returned to her expression. It was another day of pretending and just getting through everything. Things were bound to change eventually, but just not today, it would seem.

Tara climbed down from her perch on the roof. Shoving her hands in her pockets, she began her usual routine of roaming the streets aimlessly and exploring Second Heaven.

While Levi was walking with Lance, he saw a girl near the apartments with a forced and fake smile. "Hey lady, you OK? You look like if someone is forcing you to smile like that." Levi noticed that lots of people were smiling. "Looks like i didn't get the memo.." He thought

"Shh..." Renata shushed the young, glasses wearing newcomer with a strained smile plastered on her face. "You shouldn't say things like that out loud."

Cricket didn't understand the forced smiles on people's faces. He didn't understand why one could possibly be unhappy in a world as great as this one- in a world as great as Second Heaven. Perhaps they were some kind of criminal in their past life? But that was absurd, for he was a criminal in his past life. Wasn't that the point of Second Heaven anyway? The people here weren't good enough for Heaven, but not wicked enough for Hell. How could one be unhappy here, where the sun shines beautifully all day long? Where there is no sickness, no diseases or pain? What kind of person must they be to see something wrong with this... With this... Well, with this Heaven? Cricket was clueless, though. He hadn't the slightest idea about what truly happened here. He'd eventually know, of course, but for now, he, unlike many others, would truly enjoy himself in Second Heaven.

Cricket was watching people atop a beautiful tree in the center of town, lively pink flowers blooming on every branch. Birds fed their offspring worms in a nest beside him. He was happy. So happy. Happier than he had ever been in his past life. He was smiling from ear to ear, not a single feeling of sadness or anger, or anything but happiness in his mind. He had his eyes shut, the smile still on his face, as he leaned against the trunk of the same tree, inhaling the scent of the nearby flowers. This was interrupted when he heard voices below the tree, talking about smiling, which was a little odd given he was just thinking about that. Opening his eyes with a curious grin, Cricket quickly made himself known to the lady he'd later know as Renata.

He hung from a lower branch by his knees, his face now right in front of hers. He closed his eyes and tilted his head a little as he waved and smiled. His dark brown hair fell to the ground, making it appear messier than it already was. "Greetings, m'lady. I couldn't help but overhear you, yeah? I wonder, why do you look so glum?" He was taking the advice he had overheard her say, keeping his voice low so nobody might overhear him.

Renata flinched at Cricket's sudden appearance, her smile faltering for a second in surprise before coming back full force, slightly more genuine now due to his rather contagious personality.

"Well, it's just that everything here is too perfect." Renata told Cricket in a whisper, trusting him just enough to not rat her out to them. "It's boring. I find myself wishing something wrong would happen here. After all, no chaos, no life."

Cricket nodded, making an 'ah' sound as he held up (Well, down) a finger. Cricket never had thought about it that way. He had no reason to suspect otherwise. This was Second Heaven after all, he figured it was supposed to be perfect in every single way. Which to him, so far, it was. He wondered how long Renata had been here, how she could get bored of a world so, like she said, perfect. Cricket had yet to find himself a little bored. He was always doing things around here, playing tag with some children, messin' around in the beautiful beach, spending hours just relaxing in trees like he was doing just now. Cricket shook his head after a few seconds, lost in thought. He still had ADHD here apparently.

Cricket went to cross his legs, forgetting he was hanging in a tree, because, well, that was just the kind of person he was. He'd forget to breath if it was possible. He landed on his back near her feet, his goggles falling crookedly over his eyes when he did. Coughing a little awkwardly, he quickly stood up and brushed the dirt and flowers that had clung to his shirt, forgetting about the pink flowers now in his hair. He adjusted his goggles, blew his hair out of his eyes and stuck his hand out for a hand shake. He casually did so, as if he had never fallen in the first place.

"Well that makes sense. A little danger is always excited, yeah? Anyway, howdy-do, m' name's Cricket. And a beautiful girl like you must have a beautiful name, hmm?" Lowkey flirting. That's how he rolled.

Sorry for the late response! I was spending the day at the beach with a couple of friends. I'm online now for some time!

"How charming." Renata said dryly, her expression void of emotion as she looked directly into Cricket's eyes with the single minded intensity of a predator.

The Italian stared at him for a few moments before cracking a real, genuine smile and laughing in mirth, her bright amber eyes closed as she dissolved into quiet laughter.

"Man, I like you already!" Renata told him honestly as she wiped away imaginary tears, grinning brightly at him. "But anyway, my name's Renata Sinclair, but you, good sir, can call me Reborn."
