Scion or Exalted?

Like I said, I have a feeling that I'll be running the Lunar game too. Just give me some time to get settled in with the Scion game.
I know nothing about Scion, or I'd be interested, but I'd be down for the Lunar game, probably (insert standard question about canon MoEP vs. TAW here).

Where on the Internet do you recommend to get Scion-related information, please?

I am leaning towards an Japanese-American character (specifically Japanese & Hawaiian) who was born from the Amatsukami pantheon (perhaps a child of Amaterasu-O-Mi-Kami?). I love the idea of this character having American training of some kind (SEAL perhaps, Green Beret, or perhaps CIA). Might an idea like this fit in or should I create "someone" else?

The site that I have gone to for my game book PDFs is 4shared.com. The books are: Hero, Demigod, God, Companion and Ragnarok. Alternatively, try a google search, because 4shared can be somewhat testy about exact spelling of the book, and if you don't type your request in the same way that they have it listed, no luck.

That character sounds fine. I would have to check to see if that particular god is listed in the Japanese pantheon, since off the top of my head I don't know.

Just to let everyone know, the illustrious mods have asked me to just put in a request for a new board. The request is in and pending, so assuming that there is nothing I need to add to the request, we should have a place to take this out of here.

I have a question about 4shared.com - Were you prompted to download an installer from iLivid? I found Scion Hero, but I don't know this iLivid company at all.

I believe there is a smaller download button you can select to avoid that, but I'm not sure. I've gotten a ton of books from them (Rifts, Star Wars, Vampire, Mage) and haven't had any trouble.

Amaterasu is in the books as pretty much the head honcho of the Amatsukami. She is associated with Epic appearance, charisma and strength as well as Fertility, Sun and Tsukumo-Gami. Associated abilities are Art, Awareness, Craft, Empathy, Integrity and Presence. I played a son of Hachiman once and the Tsukumo-gami ability to talk to the spirits of items is fun though can lead you to having to chap up Spanish galleons for infomation.

Just click on the one that says wait 20 seconds for 4shared instead.

I have just read up on the Irish pantheon and am In the process of making a scion of Lugh hailing from the SAS.

Good deal. I look forward to seeing what you come up with.

Thank you, DreamingGod. =)

I just found out my other half already has the .pdf, and she is offering it. That seems like the safest way to go. =)

<nods> I HIGHLY recommend that any character you make has Epic Dex. It is a requirement for survival in combat. Even if your parent doesn't favor Epic Dex, load up on it. Trust me. Or, on the alternative is for me to make a sheet for you, which would have it on there.

Hooray for wonderful people like my lady! I have Scion and I'm reading about Eric Donner now. =)

@Sherwood. Epic Dex it is! =)

Everyone, just don't forget when making up your sheets that I am giving you an extra Dot in each category of your Attributes and 5 extra Dots of Abilities, and finally, you get Legend 3 for free.
Wait, do the Tuatha include Aidh?
After a quick glance through the pantheon I don't see Aidh.

@Sherwood have you had time to look at the alternate purviews I posted? And are you house ruling the Soak rules, perhaps to follow Exalted standards?

Also, is there a limit on group size, and if so what's your selection algorithm?

I've been throwing ideas around, and am leaning a little toward a sorceror-Sherlock kinda character. Alternatively, it's been a while since I played a proper warrior so that could also be interesting. I'm considering making a character who prior to his Visitation actually worshipped one of the old pantheons, the Aesir (and related mythological creatures) have a few thousand worshippers in Scandinavia, not sure how popular the others are. Well, except the Deva which are pretty damn popular.

I'm also on general principle interested in knowing one or two of the other characters prior to game start, do you have any opinion on whether or not this is a good idea?

I didn't see the link. I'll go check them out now.

I am hoping for 5 players; any more than that and things start to get bogged down. Give me a good story and that will go a long way to getting a spot.

It is possible for you guys to know a few of the others before game start, depending on your backgrounds. A CIA agent could know a friendly rival in the KGB, or a Brit in their intelligence network. The Special Forces circles are small enough that a skilled operator might have a reputation enough to be known by the others.

You keep bringing up the KGB, are we playing in the 80's? Or are you imagining our characters being active some 20-30 years before gamestart? ;)

I mention that because it is one of the non-American intel services that I know of by name. The game is set in the current age with the terrorist scares after the attacks on 9-11.

A lot of the Tuatha De'dannon, or however you spell it, were mythologized historic figures. Sometimes, Aidh gets elevated to that level, sometimes not. Depends on which stories you read. Would have been a Fire, Warfare, Piety thing, I imagine.

The forum is made, and soon will be live. We can then take this discussion over there.

Wait, do I have to make my Charachter Sheet now to be Valid, or can I do that once you've set up the Forum? I'm just here on dinner break from a Tabletop right now, so..
