As the warring spirits cry

"Do not look so grim, my friend! The fun is just starting..."
The shifty-eyed demon grins with devilishly sharp teeth, all nine fox tails swishing behind it. You're left staring down at a wooden board marked with pieces carved out of bronze- pieces in the shape of different animals. Exactly six pieces sat on the board, depicting different animals- animals you knew were in the spirits of people.
"With pawns such as these, we will create a game," The kitsune tells you, sweeping a claw across the board.
"A game more strategic than shogi, and a far more exciting gamble than Chō-Han! After all--"
The demon's grin splits across its face, impossibly wide. Earlier this kitsune had been in the shape of a human- but now fur continues to break from its skin, growing impossibly more demonic in appearance at it begins to tower over the board. Your breath almost flees from your lungs as you see the kitsune's grinning face above yours.
"It is much more fun to gamble with lives than with coin!"
As the monster continues to cackle, something seizes you from within. A desire- a desire to win against the kitsune's impossible game. It is rigged for you to lose...unless you put your faith in one of those six pieces.
Your arm involuntarily reaches out, and as you seize a piece, the world floods with white...

Samurai of the Inferno will be an RP set in a fantasy world similar to feudal Japan. It revolves around six different warriors, all from different backgrounds who have received a mysterious dream in which they dealt with a kitsune. They find a few strange things after having awoken from the kitsune's dream--
For one, they have unlocked a strange new power within themselves.
The power to harness their spirit animal, and use its abilities to aid them in life. These manifest in the form of the Spirit Essence- both passive and active abilities. Though mostly passive, the active abilities of the Spirit Essence causes the second form of the animal to emerge- the Spirit Armament. Strange new clothes that give the wearer abilities beyond their imagination. Whether it is actual armor or not depends on the spirit of the wearer.
Second, that they have a strange new mission.
The kitsune left behind a scroll at their side upon their awakening, detailing a Spiritual Ascension- the ability to make their spirit animal even more powerful. All they have to do...
...is to kill another one of them, a fellow warrior that has also unlocked their spirit animal. On each scroll is a different clue for a certain warrior to kill.
These chosen six, bound by the red strings of fate, have been forced into a killing game that will bring them to one place, and force them to sever their ties to one another in pursuit of power.
The odds seem impossible...unless these warriors choose to destroy the kitsune instead.
"Let this killing game...begin."
