Salutations!

New Member
Hello there, fellow members of RP Nation! It is I, Sesquipedalian, another new member in this world of writing. I look forward to meeting and rping with many of you.

A bit about me...

~I am a logophile, which is a lover of words. I particularly love sesquipedalian words, hence my username. Despite my fascination with vocabulary, I don't tend to use overly long or uncommon words in roleplays, as they just generally just get in the way. I will throw in some nice words here and there, and I try to use a rich vocabulary in writing, just not one that is going to confuse everyone.

~I have been roleplaying for three or so years. For those of you familiar with the site, I started out on Chicken Smoothie. In fact, I'm still there, actively roleplaying in the rp forums. But CS is not a roleplay site, and I am looking for some folks a bit more dedicated to roleplaying and the art of writing.

~In addition to writing, I love music, drawing, painting, and art in general.

~I love animals. Ironically, I don't tend to participate in animal-centered rps.

~Star Wars is one of my favorite fandoms. May the Force be with you.

~I also like the Avengers, but my knowledge of them is strictly from MCU.

~I enjoy fanfiction, mostly of the Star Wars or Marvel variety.

~I love creating characters. That's probably one of the main reasons I roleplay, besides the whole "I love writing" aspect.

~For me, roleplay isn't as much of a game as it is collaborative story writing. When I roleplay, I feel like I am controlling one character in a book, and together with my fellow rpers we are writing a story.

That's all I can think of at the moment that you should know about me. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I will probably ask a number of questions myself, as I try to get familiar with the setup of this site.

I agree, role-playing is like co-writing a story. I'm an animal lover as well. Welcome to RPN.

Greetings and salutations!

Welcome to RP Nation, where Roleplay is our business.

You've found us, congratulations for choosing the best RP site on the whole intertubes, we're glad you're here and a part of the expanding universe that is RP Nation. Also, now you're officially one of the cool kids.

Before you being your quest to becoming one of the old hats here at RPN, please do take a second and take a look at the site rules. You can find them here: INFO - Official Site Rules | RpNation.com - Best Roleplay Forum.

Unlike the Pirate code, they aren't more like suggestions but rules that we take a bit seriously. If, however, you've got a few pieces of eight you'd like to swing our way, we're always more than happy to take it. (I said, the rules weren't suggestions, never said we weren't piratey mate).

Once you've had a glance over the rules there's more information to be had here: Site Questions & Information | RpNation.com - Best Roleplay Forum. You can find something there to answer just about any question you might have.

Now then, I know that you have to answers that you're wanting answered now and the first is, you can join any RP that is open. You can find the different RP genres here: Roleplays | RpNation.com - Best Roleplay Forum

They're set up by genre so if you're looking for that Belgariad fandom RP (sorry, none yet exists here) then you'll know you aren't going to be looking in the futuristic genre. Each genre has an interest check at the top of the page and you can peruse this to see if anyone is wanting to create an RP.

If you are trolling the RPs and you just gotta make your own futuristic version of the Elenium, then you can pick the genre (future or fandom? I don't know!) and create an interest check. In the interest check you can tell the whole world about your RP and what you want to do with it. If you get enough people to say Aye! then you create your RP.

If you have any questions, issues, or concerns, don't hesitate to get in touch with either the moderators of your forum (the genre), the Super moderators, or even the admin staff. You can do that here: Site Questions & Information

Now, though I don't always give a personal response to what you've said, please believe me when I say that I've read your intro. And because I've read so many intros I've come to the realization that our users have come from a wide, assorted background when it comes to RPing. For many new users a forum based RP is a new thing and it can be a bit unsettling for those who aren't sure of what to do. Some of you are a bit unsure and shy about hopping into an RP. Sometimes we need a little something to dip our toes in. For that purpose I would like to introduce you to Kaedros The Undying. This is an RP hosted by Captain Hesperus and myself. Take a peek at the interest check and see if you would like to join. It is an RP that will always be open to young, old, new, and old users alike.

If you have any questions you need to address to me, please tag me in your comments as I don't always get to every single response in every welcome thread and I end up missing a lot of questions. You can do that by using the @ before my handle.

Again, welcome to RPN and happy RPing.

Lover of words? You're not gonna, you know, make my inner lobes pretzel into the salty delicious snack they probably are via use of big words? Hmm... welcome.

Hello and welcome RPN! I hope you enjoy it here I know I do and my name is Shelby or you can just call me countrygirl. Everyone is really nice here so don't be afraid to ask anyone for any questions.

Hi Sesquipedalian! I'm Meg and you couldn't have said it better, RPing definitely is co-writing a story. In fact, not only am I an aspiring author and love writing like you do, but my first trilogy I hope to get published was actually inspired by an RP I did! I couldn't have made it without my fellow RPers for they were the ones who made their characters and gave them personality. Writing is nice, but when your characters actually talk back to you when you don't know what they might say to the question you asked or whatever, it's even better!

I hope to RP with you! I too am a lover of Star Wars. Kinda obsessed with Kylo Ren at the moment, heh heh...

Thanks everybody for the warm welcomes!

@KayMegz : That's awesome that you intend to publish a trilogy! I hope to publish a collection of poems sometime in the near future. I had a book that I was writing with the intention of getting it published, but I have found myself lacking in muse. Every year or so I get a burst of muse and add a chapter, so maybe I'll finish it eventually. So far, I have about seven short chapters to show for four years of writing. Not much, but getting there.

@Sesquipedalian I am sitting here staring at the computer, unable to comprehend that you just used the term muse. That is literally what I call my own!!! When I am in a bad writer's block, my muse is missing. And then when I'm just full of inspiration and brain is going too fast for my fingers to get it all down on the keys my muse is singing. That is so awesome. Good luck publishing your poems! Your muse will return, I know it. I've recently been writing poetry due to a class and realized I absolutely love it. It's such a great way to express things in such a beautiful way. I've found that when I get my muse to not stop writing! When I stop to go eat or go to class and then I try to return to it I've lost all inspiration.

I really hope to RP with you! It appears we have a lot in common. Fellow writers unite!

@KayMegz : Is muse not a common term? Huh, what do you know. I wonder if I have confused anyone with the use of the term... Oh well, it is a perfect word to describe... Well, I don't really know of a better word.

Yes, poetry is such an amazing way to express just about anything. It's painting with words as I like to say.

When I'm writing, I forget all else. I have missed mealtimes on occasion when my muse is bubbling. But, like you said, leaving is detrimental to muse. Too bad I have to actually go to school and such, school tends to be a muse-killer too. Muse will strike in the middle of a math class, for example, and I will be unable to write. It is unfortunate.

I hope my muse for that story returns soon. My problem is either under-planning the story or over-planning the story. I can't determine which. When I don't have a plot, I write freely for a while, then realize I don't know where to go next. Then, I try to create a plot, and my enthusiasm takes a nose dive. I haven't found the balance yet with this book.

I hope to rp with you as well! If we have similar taste in rps, that would be perfect.
