Welcome to the year 2025. Technology has advanced further than anyone could have expected. Human beings have become capable of amazing things including the invention of the AD Dream Machine; a special Virtual Reality headset that allows ones thoughts and feelings to enter a digital state. The AD Dream Machine is capable of coming in many forms, however, the most popular among the masses is a special Headset. The geniuses behind this revolutionary technology are known only as "DREAM Co.". No one is sure where they originate and how they were able to make it on the market so easily. All we do know is that they are very secretive and are fond of success in their technology.

Alongside the AD Dream Machine came many exports that would seek to be compatible with this technology. Instant messengers, shopping channels, music players, and even games were soon in collaboration with the company providing more content for the headphone owners. One program seemed very popular among the youth; a virtual reality game known only as AUDIO SLAVE. Audio Slave is a MMO-Roleplaying game that allows a player to manifest their music tastes and song choices into powerful attacks. Players are given Audio Power which can manifest amazing abilities within the game. Anywhere from controlling elements and levitation to even controlling sound and vibrations. Everyone's music taste was unique so, depending on their bond with the music, everyone had their own special way of manifesting their power. These powers could be controlled and contained via Instruments which is a physical embodiment of ones Audio Power. Players could take part in adventures, chat and play with other players, or even take part in Shows which can best be described as PvP within the Audi-Arena.

During the first Open Beta, over one million copies of Audio Slave were downloaded and played. Many seeked to discover new music choices, becoming the top Audi-Arena contender, and hunting down powerful musical monsters for experience points. The game was a success! However, players began to notice strange things taking place. After playing for a certain about of time, one would notice changes in vision and unbearable headaches even after taking off the AD Dream Machine headset. The media began to catch wind of this reporting that maybe the the game was "Oddly Gaining Longer Play Times Than Normal". Players began to find themselves taking part in comas unable to release themselves from the game world. Trapping their minds completely within the headset; which was seen unable to even be removed from the players head.

The player base began to grow suspicious. NPC's began to corrupt even going so far as to attack players. There were no signs of the GM's. No one was able to get in touch with the developers whatsoever. The players had found themselves trapped within their own musical dungeon. However, some players began to feel a dwindling in their hold. Few who had a strong enough will to break from the headsets spell have been deemed "Audi-Hunters" These individuals, even after removing themselves from the game, began to experience odd events happening in their surroundings. Items from the game began to appear within the real world; including their own instruments and even monsters. The real world began to go into a panic as strange monsters began to appear causing havoc worldwide.

The Audi-Hunters found themselves able to manifest their musical abilities outside the game. A great responsibility was placed upon their shoulders. They needed to discover the secrets of DREAM Co. and put a stop to their devious plans. Hunters may travel between the game world and the real world freely. However, so are monsters and threats. In order to save their fellow players, they needed to find any remnants of DREAM Co. within game and out of game. The future of the world was in the hands of the youth. May their music be loud and rebellious.

TL; DR? Ok. I gotchu.

Audio Slave is a Virtual-Reality MMORPG which utilizes music-inspired database to manifest players music tastes into the game itself. The company behind the game, DREAM Co., is a technological powerhouse who's origins are unknown to the point in which it is a bit scary. Players loved the game and didn't wanna stop playing at all. However, players soon began to fall into comas trapping themselves in the now corrupted game. Those who have freed themselves from the trap are called Audi-Hunters. They are able to travel back and forth between worlds. It is up to them to investigate the real world while players keep an eye out in the game world for any signs of the company. Audio Slave monsters have found their way into the real world but, luckily, so has the Hunters abilities.

Think you can survive? Well let the games begin.

Player base is known to come from around the world rather than just one specific location. That being said, it will be rare for players to meet outside of game. However, through the headsets that they play the game with, they are able to communicate tactics to ensure their steps are monitored by one another.

Audio Power is based on ones music taste and genres. That being said, one's Audio Power will be named and themed after a music choice of YOUR OWN PICKING. That's right lads. Your taste in music will play a part in shaping your character.

The game itself is very beautiful. It's futuristic theme is highly appealing and encourages players to adventure. There are multiple settings ranging from Cities (Mostly for Housing and Leaderboards), Shopping Districts (Including Game Gear and even Music Shops), Wilderness (Monster Spawning), Beach Fronts (Visiting and Monster Spawning), Caverns (Monster Spawning and Treasure Seeking), and of course the Aud-Arena (PvP specific)

Very interested, although I am a bit concerned about three out of four buttons leading to missing content...

In any case, what will be the writing requirements for this? Any other rules or restrictions, namely in terms of characters or faceclaims, that I should be aware about?

Also, out of curiosity, how does a game where everyone has their own sort of psecial ability/combat style remain balanced at all? If you don't know the answer that's fine, I just wanna know if you have any thoughts on how you'll be dealing with that.

Oh don't worry. I'm kinda uploading them one at a time (Mostly because my computer can bonk out sometimes and I just dont wanna get things lost ya know). Give me a few moments and the rest will be up in a bit. And to make a long story short, all though everyone is capable of manifesting their own ability, there is in fact a level and power system to the game. And upon character creation, your ability will have to be well written to be reviewed. I hope to get a small GM team together to assist in discussing any set backs for abilities.

Well I'm not forcing anyone. However, I am gonna have to do some sort of questions or something to ensure ya know... People fit the position to begin with.

Ah, no worries no worries. I only say that cause it happens a lot, me ending up getting involved in the GM teams when they aren't pre-established because I'm the kind of person who always has an opinion.

I hear ya. I mean I'm prepared to just take care of things solo style. I wouldn't want to put responsibility on someone forcefully. And besides, I want to make things more enjoyable for everyone. So, that's a burden I'll take care of.

I love this Idea! I'd love to play a character in this world.

I could be interested in this.

As a note, whatever you're using doesn't play well on mobile. It would be nice to post links to important stuff in a separate post, if that becomes a factor.

Glad to know. And no worries. Thank you for telling me in advance. I'll be sure to have a seperate post up for future links as well.

It works better in the side view I've just found out, but it might be a good idea to so that just in case.

Some questions I've come up with after looking everything over: what exactly is the idea behind reserving a specific song per character? Are people locked to specific genres, or can they technically play anything? If you're not an audi-hunter (which appears to be the "main cast," as it were), then who exactly are you, and how relevant are you to the story (unless this is just intended to be a limit on players in general)?

I allow the reservation just in case someone wants to put in their song/band in early. No one has to do it but the option is there. And your power is specifically one song or band of your choice. If you do not want to be a hunter, you are a regular player among the game which means you will be dealing with the same havoc that is taking place in the real world. However, you are stuck inside the game. What happens in game will vastly be shaped on players and how they interact with one another during this crisis. As one can imagine, some may not be too keen on being stuck while others may even enjoy their new lives.

Unless things are going to change over the course of it all, a single song seems a little on the limited / repetitive side, though a single band might be a bit better. I sort of feel like opening things up might be a good play.

Either way, I'd like to reserve an audi-hunter slot and the artist Sabrepulse for the time being, if that's alright.

The songs or bands themselves do not play much into the aspect of the game. It simply just represents ones music taste. As for what the power that is called the song or band is is what truly matters. That is where the importance lies. And depending on what ability you will be going for, you will have your own potential to grow from there.

Think of it along the lines of color pencils. Each color pencil has it's own name and grouping. They are all on equal standards (all being color pencils). However they are all different shades. Regardless, everyone has their own favorite color/color combinations etc.

I'm not super sure that I understand what you're going for here, but I suppose things will become clear when we get to character creation, so we'll see.

Ok uhhh what I'm saying is that there isn't much limitation in regards to picking a song over a band or art specifically because regardless of what you pick, the abilities you go for will all be different.

Say that I pick a J Cole song and someone else picks a different J Cole song. Same artist but they both represent two different things.

I'm more confused by the idea that the songs don't really factor into the game; if the songs are supposed to be the "powers," then what factors of the songs are being used, exactly? Personal attachment? Names? Actual audio information? It seems at odds with what was in the opening blurb.

Let me rephrase that. The songs do factor into the game, however the level of importance you think it is isn't where it actually is. In the game, everyone's power is themed around a song, artist, or band of their selection. How the selection is of importance to you is for you to develop. Do not think of it as a set of skills. Rather than a theme of your abilities.

Maybe an example would make it easier.

So let's say Timmy is entering the game. The game has given him the Audio Power "Aerosmith" which allows him to fly. Aerosmith has been Timmy's favorite band for years because it reminds him much of his deceased father. etc etc.

Where I think I lost you is the level of importance to the game. Remember that this IS still an MMO. Music is only the theme of the game. Which means regular mmo objectives and aspects will be taking the center stage.
