In day to day moments when with her parents, she could be quiet and peaceful, but the second something happened that she didn't seem to like, or she noticed something off about her parents, she flipped a switch and became a brat.

It was something easily fixed, one of or both of her parents would take her out of the room and just smile or tickle her tummy and she was all laughs again. It was something so simple, but it cheered them all up, and Alana was pleased. By the time she was two, she knew how to work her parents to her advantage. Not to say that she had malicious plans or anything. She just wanted to get away with stuff later in life, because this little fox had big plans and she couldn't afford to have anything holding her back. So she was the cutest little princess she could be, only causing the normal amounts of trouble here and there, but generally being the apple of her parents' eyes.

However, when her brother was born, nothing really seemed to make sense to Alana. During her mother's pregnancy she could tell something was different, even though she was three that didn't stop her from recognizing that her mother's appearance was changing. One her brother's day of birth and the White City rejoiced once more, all Alana could do was stare. Her actions confused her parents, because all she could do was tilt her head in confusion as she stared at the tiny form of her sibling. Alana didn't believe any of those ridiculous stories that when parents had a second baby they forgot about their first child, that was ridiculous in her young mind. But she was still confused. The appearance of someone else in her life didn't make sense. It wasn't in her plans.

It took a few years for her to get used to her brother, but in that time she was never mean or tried anything to harm him. She was just....unsure. Growing up, she helped her parents as best she could with him, but otherwise steered clear unless she was absolutely needed. In the meantime, she spent her time studying. Once she'd learned about magic, she was hooked. The second her parents gave their official approval that she could study and learn magic, she took to it like a fish to water. It was all she did, and while her parents were glad that she was interested in learning and found her obsession with sticking true to acting like a fox, cute, they didn't always appreciate the mess she made.

As she grew and continued to learn more of her Illusion Magic, Alana became somewhat of a terror. Everyone in the castle quickly learned that when Alana became bored....run. It was never a good thing and while a good majority found her tricks to be humorous, the ones who were on the receiving end felt differently. Of course, she always apologized if something got too out of hand and was the picture of princess maturity and elegance when accepting that she was in the wrong. That never stopped her however. Just increased the amount of time between tricks.

Throughout her teen years and even now going into her early twenties, Alana hasn't changed much in regards to her personality. Despite her parents not always being thrilled with some of the tricks she came up, they were still foxes, and appreciated her creativity. In the end, she was still their daughter and they loved her. Of course, it also helped that Alana knew when she had to play a role. Whenever matters of the court came up, Alana was the perfect princess her kingdom required her to be. Alone in her study and pouring over another magical text? Well, let's just say that was the first sign that she was planning something new.

Resilient: Setesh does not break easily under stress, never freaks out in an unexpected situation and can withstand large measures of physical and mental discomfort. He has never been pampered by his parents and learned to be as hard and unforgiving, more to himself than others, as the landscape of his homeland. As such, it is not difficult for him to adapt to extreme conditions.
Empathic: Even though Setesh eventually decided not to pursue the path of studying empathic magic, it is a field he used to be interested in. He has a natural talent for understanding how people feel and at times, he displays surprising amount of mental support and words of wisdom beyond his age.
Adventurous: There is no challenge he would not accept, be it drinking an entire bottle of absinthe or trying to tickle a bear on its foot.
Deceitful: Frankly speaking, Setesh is the master of deceit, as he has been living three different lives for the entirety of his adulthood and some. He can lie straight to your face and you'll never know.
Cynical: It would be incorrect to claim that Setesh is a pesimist. He's simply not the cheerful young royal like most of his opponents - and doesn't pretend to be. His outlook on life is somewhat darker, and since brooding doesn't suit him, he undertones it with cynical humor and sarcastic remarks. In situations when others would go for pep talk, he paints everything in more than realistic colors instead, which can be an unwelcome eye-opener for some.
Arrogant: Thanks to his life experiences, adventures in the Guild of Thieves, the necessity of constant pretense and lack of pampering, Setesh believes himself better equipped for the tournament than anyone else. In fact, being the oldest of the group, if only by a year, he considers most of the royals no more than children, which he may or may not show.

Background: Fate gifted the Hebian royal family with exactly the number of children necessary to partake on the trials: a boy and a girl. Both of them healthy, strong, displaying enough of the Fae features, born three years apart. One could almost believe the greatest wish of King Chepri, to be provided with two likely winners, had been granted. Or at least the king believed it.

From early childhood, the children had to learn responsibility, train their physical and mental abilities, study hard and follow a strict set of rules in order to succeed where their father had never been given a chance to shine. The expectations were set high especially for Setesh, who would inherit the kingdom one day. But it would not be simply handed to him; the list of duties he had to fulfill and skills he needed to achieve was endless. And it seemed his parents were hardly ever there, except to admonish him for things he did wrong. Raised mostly by nannies, Setesh formed a strong (and possibly only lasting) bond with his younger sister as they went through life’s hardships together.

At the age of 13, Setesh was considered old enough to learn the family secrets: the rumours saying that the Hebian family might be connected with the Thieves Guild could not be more true. The family had been, in fact, its direct leaders for generations, made all the decisions regarding the Guild’s major actions and reaped great profit. Similarly, they were very invested in the workings of their mercenary group. To help keep the secret, only a select few individuals that could be counted on the fingers of one hand knew about the family’s direct involvement. Even within the Guild itself, the identity of its leading members was not to be revealed. When engaging in shady business, the family members always kept their faces hidden under hoods and masks/facecloths.

From then on, Setesh was groomed not only to be the perfect successor, but also to replace his father as the head of the Guild. That eventually happened as the king turned 50 and decided to retire from the function, which often involved partaking on physically straining robberies and escapes. Setesh is known to the Guild members and mercenaries under the alias “Nightfall”, a much befitting name, since the night is his element. Just like snakes, he relies much more on his touch and heat-related spatial orientation than his eyes, which makes him the ideal man for night assaults of any kind, especially paired with his poisonous fangs and the ability to cast sleep spells. His training in this discipline makes him occasionally suffer with insomnia, which Setesh does not mind very much. He often wanders out into the desert at night, taking in the immenseness of the starry skies above his head and losing himself in thought. On one of these walks, he stumbled upon a white cobra and brought it home. It has been keeping him company for five years already.

It was during one of his tasks with the mercenaries that Setesh discovered his sexuality. Even as a child, he wasn’t really interested in most girls, finding their squealy and sweet nature and fluffy dresses simply abhorrent – with the exception of his sister, of course, who was nothing like that anyway. But he hardly even suspected he’d ever be interested in boys instead; rather than that, he channeled his entire energy into both his official and unofficial life. Until 16, when he met Lorca: a sleek, exceptionally skilled assassin, who could wield just about any weapon with an elegance akin to dancing. When he moved, his silver hair seemed to have a willpower of its own. He was aloof, yet oddly seductive, and being older by 4 years, he already was everything Setesh aspired to become one day.

The first love, or more realistically, crush, gave Setesh nothing but sleepless nights and a few kisses in the back alley – a moment that was over when Lorca discovered his scales and with as much politeness as possible backed out. Until then, Setesh never considered them a problem, even though more and more started to grow over his skin whenever one of his adventures resulted in an injury, perhaps because his body wanted to protect itself. But from then on, he is quite anxious about his looks, knowing many people find snakes visually disgusting, scary or unpleasant to touch. Since then, he had a couple of affairs, however, all of them short-lived. At the moment, his sister is the only person aware of this secret – one that would certainly make their father hate him forever.

As the trials approach, the pressure within the family grows. King Chepri never quite came to terms with the fact that it was not himself, but his older brother who had won the 7th tournament, much less with the fact that the aforementioned brother did not even strip the losing families of their lands and wealth, but acted most generously instead. His utmost wish is to rectify this situation and win through one of his children – preferably his son, but any would do. Ideally, a royal marriage would follow soon after, which is something Setesh fears much more than he could ever fear any battle.

This is My Story: Isadora wasn't born royal, but it was obvious that she was of royal lineage the day she was birthed. When her brown, rabbit ears popped upward, her mother knew immediately the scandal that it would cause. You see, King Marco Usagian was a man who loved his queen dearly, but wasn't the most loyal of men. And when the baker's wife made a delivery to the castle one day, they both were unable to resist each other. Unfortunately, those ears appearing would be mere proof of their infidelity and out of fear, Marzia left in the middle of the night with her child. The baker pleaded with the king to help him find his missing wife and newborn child, but as if he knew what had happened, the king refused and blamed it on poor timing and funding. But concerned for his new daughter, he did point the baker to Truvaria, where some of their soldiers could easily be hired for such a task. And the baker did just that. He pooled all of his coin into finding his family, even if it kept him from doing anything other than working.

Meanwhile, the illegitimate Usagian princess and her mother had been taken to the Ombar Dominion since it was the last place the baker would look. But unable to get decent work immediately, Marzia was forced to help the Guild of Thieves in certain missions as a means to provide for Isadora. The Guild, no matter how shady their businesses were, made sure to take care of their own. So when Isa reached the age of eight, they offered to give her a proper education. Marzia couldn't refuse since she didn't have the time to formally educate the girl. And so the Guild took the young Usagian princess under their wing. And in order to keep her ears hidden, her mother helped pin them down every morning and wrapped a scarf around her head. Many thought it was just an odd fashion choice, but so was blue hair, so they didn't pay the little girl too much mind. The Guild, however, found it to be a sure way for someone to recognize her and tried to get her to remove the head scarf. Not wanting to disappoint her mother, Isa fought to keep it on. But at such a young age, she wasn't able to do much before it was snatched away. And her true identity was revealed.

The Guild wasted no time in reporting her and Marzia to Ithlolen's royal family, seeing as they saw this as a way of making peace with the Usagian king. They wanted more trade routes through the island network, after all, and this was a way to get it. But they were shocked to find out that the child was illegitimate once arriving with Marzia and Isa in hand. So instead of using it as leverage, they merely acted as if it was in the "good of their hearts." They would propose the trade idea later.

Queen Penelope Usagian, after giving birth to her third child now, was more than livid and heartbroken. As the court decided what to do with the "new" princess, the queen made sure to persuade them into believing Marzia had committed treason. And while being backed into a corner, the king was forced to behead his daughter's mother; and Isa was forced to watch by Penelope's orders. Heartbroken and scarred, the little rabbit princess sobbed and attempted to run from the castle. But the queen had her men stop Isa so that they can hold trial over what the little girl's fate would be. The court ruled in favor of making her an official royal since she was the first, Usagian princess born and would be required for the Tournament. Even if she was illegitimate. The queen grew bitter after hearing this ruling and refused to play the role of mother to a child birthed from her husband's affair.

Isa, rather than turn cold and angry, had become frightened. She was frightened of the world around her now that she had no one that she could truly depend on and was forced into a life where no one wanted her. Even as the years rolled by and the queen's hostility towards the princess died with each additional child, Isa never truly felt comfortable being apart of the Usagian family. But since she was the first girl and had a heretical duty, she was forced to learn magic and how to fight.

She wasn't strong. Far from it. But she was quick and learned quicker than average. Her father, when he finally made time to have full conversations with her, said that after childhood of incredible struggles, her body learned how to run from most situations. He helped her find what magic she actually wanted to learn and also helped her learn that she wasn't alone in feeling guilty after her mother's death. King Marco also felt incredibly guilty for all of the pain that he had caused. And that's when Isa opened her heart to her birth father. Her defense slowly melted away when she felt the man's sincerity.

After years of training, Isa was able to summon birds to her aid. Rather than stay cooped in the library, which she had done a lot when she first was made a princess, she liked to stay by the docks and the beach. She learned to fish, since the concentration and silence helped ease her nerves, and she loved to go for long swimming sessions in the water. And when she summoned the birds, she felt like she had friends.

By the age of sixteen, Isa had also made friends with the royal cook and had learned different recipes from the man. She loved to bake and cook intricate dishes because if there was one thing she loved more than reading or playing with her bird friends, it was eating the confections she could make. All of those kept away the thoughts of the only reason she was spared. The Tournament. But as soon as she was told she'd have to leave with her brother, she realized that this was the end. If she didn't win or help her brother win in some way, would they execute her? Would they exile her? It's true Penelope was more dismissive than hostile now, but the rabbit princess always found herself fearful of what would happen after the Tournament. After all, the woman made an eight year watch their own mother be executed. It wouldn't be wrong to assume that Isa's life was still in danger, right? Background: When Jasper was born, there was, of course, grand celebration and excitement within the kingdom, as there tends to be when these sort of things happen. Groomed for success since that very moment, and with all avenues for greatness open to him, amazing things were expected of the young heir. Unfortunately...Jasper failed to deliver much of anything, really. Mainly for lack of trying. He was ok at best in his studies, his mind often wandering away from them, and he showed very little interest in the life of a politician - not like he was any good at it, anyways - he just didn't care enough about furthering his kingdom or his family.

Jasper has been sort of selfish in that way - simply enjoying the pleasures of royalty and trying to avoid both his responsibilities and the public eye. Though the disappointment in him was immense, most people soon forgot about him (and began to hope his parents would give birth to another child that would succeed where Jasper failed) as he lazed around his family's home, his only pursuit studying the art of Deception magic. Though that was more for his own amusement than anything else. There'd be the occasional scandal involving him telling off some, in his words, "pompous dick of a nobleman," or using his magic to sneak away from home and go on little adventures, often accompanied by less fortunate kids of his age who he called friends.

Overall, though many of the higher-ups of the kingdom aren't exactly fans of his lackadaisical attitude and very much doubt his ability to rule should it ever be required of him (Jasper would agree with them there). Still, his easygoing, relaxed attitude and the oftenness with which he interacts with the lower class folks have won him some favor with them, and the people generally like him. His reputation is pretty much that of someone who could do well as the 'face' for a more responsible, more driven ruler. Jasper is pretty ok with that.

In regards to the tournament, he could not be more apathetic toward it. If he was in charge, he'd probably just forfeit so he wouldn't have to bother with participating. Unfortunately for him, however, he has been forced into it. More unfortunately, his pride won't allow him to just throw the matches, so he'll have to actually try to win.

Darion reached down to the hilt of his longsword, his right hand clasping the leather hand wraps. Even the dull, quiet sound of him removing the blade from its wooden sheath felt like booming thunder compared to the eerie silence that had hung in the while he was standing still. He held the blade up, the small bit of moonlight that pierced through the gray sky reflecting off the oddly polished weapon. It seemed his equipment was in working order, which was a relief - it would be a shame to die again so soon.

Looking around, the woods were dark, the gnarled gray trees poked out from the ever-present fog in looming, sinister looking visages. It was cold too - or he figured it should've been, but he could barely feel the chill air. It was still there, but his whole body felt..numb and all the sensations he should've felt were dull and muted. Perhaps another side effect of his undeath? Would there be more? He wasn't sure, and as his gaze shifted to his former resting place in the dirt, he felt that he had spent enough time here thinking. Now, it was time for action, he had rested long enough.

Weapon in hand, Darion marched in the direction of that constant pull towards vengeance. It was a strange feeling, one that he now felt constantly, as if there was a voice whispering in his ear, goading him towards Strahd, while invisible hands subtly pushed him in that direction. Turning away from it, trying to ignore the call...it made him feel sick, feel wrong. He hoped it would lessen eventually. Until then, he would heed the call, at least it gave him a solid path to follow.

Darion continued on like this for only a few minutes longer, watching the trees intently, waiting for something to inevitably jump out at him - undead, dire wolves, blights or any other of the multitudes of horrors that prowled the Svalich woods. Though he kept a keen eye out, he had missed the small raven who seemed to be shadowing him.

The quiet was suddenly broken by a sound he was too familiar with, the howling of wolves. His gaze wandered up to what little of the sky he could see through the creeping branches above him, but as far as he could tell, it was night. Darion couldn't be certain though, day was practically just a lighter shade of gray, there was no real sunlight in Barovia. It was the domain of a Vampire, after all. One important difference though, was that night meant these wolves would be on the hunt. Probably for him. The grip on his sword hilt tightened and his eyes darted between the trees, searching for any sign of the predators.

After a while, it became obvious the beasts were not hunting him, there was, in fact, some other poor soul who had no doubt been dragged in Strahd's domain, there was no other reason *anyone* would be in the woods at night. Darion quickly ripped himself away from the path he was following and though it was somewhat to his own dismay, he would not allow himself to let someone suffer alone in Barovia.

He was getting closer, past the sound of his heavy footfalls and the occasional snapping of a twig under his boot, he could hear more howling and perhaps even a human scream closer in the distance. As he drew closer, he heard another howl and then another yelp from one of the wolves, it seemed whoever they had been fighting had managed to scare them off. Good.

Darion was pretty sure he had gotten close to wherever the fighting was happening and was fairly certain any other monsters that were lurking nearby had already be alerted by the scuffle. Not feeling the need for stealth, and not being very good at it, he instead decided to yell out, "Is there someone out there?! Show yourself, I can help you!"

Background: The Summer Solstice, a day of celebration and peace throughout the six reigning kingdoms. The same day that the Lunar Princess of Truveria was born. Most saw her arrival as a gift, appearing just in time in order to allow the royal family to participate in the following generational tournament. For the entirety of her childhood and even until now Helena had been spoiled. She was given the best of everything and nothing less. Despite that however she was never coddled. That was perhaps the difference that ultimately prevented her from becoming over-indulgent. That and the strict training that she was subjected to as soon as she was able to walk.

Another factor were the visits to the other kingdoms. As soon as she turned twelve her father began bringing her along on trade deals, celebrations, and other events. The experience of travel and personally witnessing the hardships of everyday life humbled her as time passed. Of course the goal was to not only make allies but to gauge the weaknesses of the other royals. It may seem underhanded but the Truvia Kingdom had yet to win a tournament for many generations. Helena, with her carefully honed skills and aptitude gave the people hope that the time of change had finally come.

Still, despite the supposed support of the court, the nobles weren't above testing the princess. It had been at their insistence that her training should begin no sooner than her sixth birthday. She was expected to win and therefore could only exhibit perfect results. There was so much that her own parents could do to shield her without crossing the fine line of ignorance. It was their efforts and of course her own brother that got her through what ever trials she was given. She would do absolutely anything for family.

laid-back... In general day to day life, Ren isn't really that picky about what goes on around him, preferring to let others take the lead while he follows behind. Due to this, most insults that he receives (which come in often) roll right off his back and he isn't threatened by much.
honest... When asked for his opinion, Ren doesn't bother to give anything but the truth. Lying always took too much work, and Ren doesn't agree with hiding things about himself. He is who he is, and he has no problems letting everyone know.
lazy... Like a true cat, Ren enjoys a lot of naps. He enjoys sleeping the day away, doing nothing, and ignoring his responsibilities, making others search for him.
sarcastic... One of the few things that brings Ren amusement is making fun of others. When someone comes at him in anyway, be it physical or verbal, he'll most likely have some type of retort.
rude... It's rare for Ren to go a day without insulting someone. It's happened before, on the few days that he was able to nap the day away, but in general, if you're not his sister, he's likely to insult you then go back to sleep.

background... The expectations that followed Ren from the moment he was born were thrown out the window. His parents were proud, their firstborn was a son and they had plans to raise him to be proud and righteous and keep to same beliefs of the Cat Fae. Well, even as a baby, the young prince had something to say about that. Or rather...he had nothing to say about it. Normally, babies cry, but Ren? Nope. He was quiet as the grave and if many were being honest, that worried them deeply. While he cried when he needed something, it wasn't the loud, high-pitched wailing most babies emitted, but a low and grumbling cry. To his parents it seemed like he was bothered that he had to cry at all.

In the first four years of his life, Ren was quick to leave all that knew him speechless. He was quiet, didn't particularly care to interact with others, and he slept. His parents weren't quite sure what to do. The only thing their son seemed to enjoy doing was sleep, and while yes that was a cat trait, normally one of their own didn't want to sleep as much as an actual house cat. Ren was more than happy to prove them wrong. For the most part he was respectful, but at the same time depending on who he was talking to, he was somewhat rude. Not in a way that was meant to be hurtful, he just seemed apathetic.

When his sister was born, that's when things started to change somewhat, and his parents were extremely grateful for their second child. The second that Ren caught sight of his sister's pink eyes, he knew he had to keep her safe. Having seen that he had taken such an interest in his baby sister, his parents were happy to let Ren spend as much time with her as possible. He grew attached and soon it got to the point where he finally decided to take some responsibilities upon himself. While holding his sister he'd gone to his parents and said he wanted to learn to fight. They were overjoyed, especially since he also began to study magic on the side.

By the time his sister was beginning to learn her own magic, Ren had a fairly good grasp on his and was watching when she completed her first attempt at shifting. He was the one who went to calm her down when she attacked him, giving him the scar on his neck. His heart broke for his sister. He didn't care in the slightest that she hurt him. He'd rather she hurt him than herself, and to this day it still pains him that she blames herself for hurting him. So ever since then, he's made it his mission to protect and care for and reassure her that no matter what she can depend on him. He would do anything for her, no matter the cost.

Personality
Known widespread as the resident eccentric of the Usagian line, Pascal is famous for his playboy flair and wild energy. Defying the bookish, peaceable stereotype of his people, this boisterous bunny-boy is brash, playful and silver-tongued, coming off as a charismatic, lackadaisical, and yet slightly dim, rogue. With his ever-present grin and showman's touch, Pascal presents himself as an eloquent enigma, a quick-quipping joker who can play down the seriousness of any situation and turn tense times into a grand old game. This Victorian quirkiness, coupled with tall tales of his various different exploits (not all of them true), have made Pascal into one of the land's biggest celebrity names, and certainly a marmite character. Some find themselves enticed by his easygoing whimsicality, his boyish charm and his limitless energy - with a swagger in his step and a wink never far from his eyes, he has many admirers. Yet others see him as shallow, irresponsible and unfit to one day rule as king - how could this cheeky charlatan command a nation?


This exterior performance could not be further from the real man inside. For underneath the bravado, he is a socially anxious bookworm who has constructed this eccentric facade to attempt to mask his inadequacies. The underlying effort that goes into maintaining this chaotic character results in an internalised comedy of errors as a clumsy, nervous introvert pretends to be someone he's very much not. Though he appears carefree, he cares deeply about his own reputation, and his personal values of romantic fidelity clash with the flirtatious roguishness he exhibits. He's not interested in fame and celebrity status - he's more interested in appearing confident and charismatic enough to make a good king, yet the pressure caused by his lack of readiness for this position makes him insecure and rash. He longs to get close to people, and yet at the same time finds himself distancing himself out of fear and cowardice. Worst of all, he tells himself, he's a coward, and will twist and trick everybody around him to ensure he survives. For this, he bears a lot of guilt.

Out of this, he's always the first to volunteer for anything, keeping himself tirelessly busy as to not allow a chance for cracks in his character to show. He is deeply invested in his country, but mainly out of anxiety. And he fears failure more than anything, leading to restlessness and recklessness. Thankfully, his natural gracefulness makes even his clumsiest moments look like well-planned jokes. More positively, Pascal is a lot smarter than he pretends to be, having both book and street smarts and a quick-thinking, analytical mind. His real character only ever comes out when he's sure he's alone, and then he withdraws into quietness, a book in hand, studying tirelessly. However, he's an over-thinker, an over-analyser and a natural worrier. Yet when he sets his mind to something, he will stop at nothing to see it to completion.

For Pascal, the tournament holds not just national stakes, but personal ones - attain victory and he will finally prove his doubts wrong. And this showman has an ace up his sleeve...

BACKSTORY
Name Day 33rd Day of Winter
Background Ever since he was born, Pascal knew his future with certainty. As firstborn of the Usagian dynasty, he was to one day rule the Ithlolen kingdom. He would be king. The problem was, how could he reconcile the image of a grand, masculine ruler with the weedy bookworm he found himself to be?


Pascal was born in the midst of winter, a suspiciously short amount of time after King Marco's marriage. The king's passionate relationship with Penelope was well-known and rumours of a bastard child would only pile further pressure onto the child, so Pascal was kept concealed until an appropriate time, and is still 'legally' considered several months younger than he actually is. He seeming 'rapid growth' compared to other Usagian children only cemented the sense of expectation - this child was clearly special.

Across this brief period, Pascal was concealed within the hidden archives of the famous Grand Library. He was far too young to remember anything of this time, only having his father's classically tall tales of the time to draw back upon - stories of his nurses reading him encyclopedias and extensive historical records to quell his tears. Whatever the truth, the young Pascal forged an unbreakable bond with the library. Whilst other noble children frolicked across the island rafts, Pascal would standardly be found buried in a book in the shade, the salty breeze tickling his nostrils.

This bookish pattern continued as he grew into puberty. Whilst his cautious etiquette pleased his parents, he consistently rejected his father's attempts to encourage him to engage with public parties, escaping into the archives and into another world, another time main possible by his books. His private life, meanwhile, was marked by a tension between his parents that he couldn't quite source. He recognised the guilt in his fathers eyes, a deep sense of regret over something he couldn't possibly know. And he considered himself, the timid wimp who was so far removed from the storybook pictures of kings he'd been read as a child, and concluded that he had to be the cause of this unseen conflict. Increasingly he grew aware of the gap between the other youngsters and himself, spending long hours watching from the castle windows at the children he found himself wanting to be like. Even when Isa was revealed the world, and his father's adulteress publically beheaded, he could not, would not stop blaming himself. He had seen his father, the man he so admired, crippled by human weakness, and he had learnt the burden he was to inherit. A burden he would fail to carry.

And so across his teenage years, Pascal began to steadily reinvent himself. An expert at people watching from all his previous observing, he made special efforts to attend his parent's grand parties, crossing paths with dignitaries from many different nations whom he took notes on under the guise of 'poetry'. His father now obsessively caring for his prodigal daughter, the sister he had grown up without, and his mother quiet and withdrawn, there was no authority figure to challenge or question Pascal's decline into eccentricity. All the while, he'd spend the majority of his private hours making up for lost time by training in combat, and cross-referencing the people he'd observed with the gallant heroes of the literature he consumed, the playboy rogue was born.

For the past five years, Pascal has been travelling from kingdom to kingdom, making acquaintances and being wild at parties. What appears to be an aimless tumble into infamy has actually been a carefully planned exercise in data-collection. Yet his experiences brought him closer to stronger, cleverer individuals who scared him. So, in preparation for the tournament, Pascal has returned to his studying, reading all about a forbidden magic. His conscience is racked with guilt - of course it's morally dubious, and yet he has to win. To rule has been his destiny. Thus, whilst Pascal's infamy proceeds him as he arrives at the tournament, and whilst he is surrounded by loyal followers gathered over his years of travelling, the man inside feels incredibly small. He is a small man in a big costume, and no performance can fill the hollowness he feels.

+ Gifted: Rio has spent most of her time in her family's library and actually paying attention to her lessons. She has a thirst for knowledge. Rio can grasp new materials quickly; her brain is kind of like a sponge. Putting two and two together is quick math for her. Analyzing is second nature to her. She is perceived to have the same large energy pool her brother is perceived to lack.
+ Pleasant: Being kind and good to others is the way Rio loves to live her life. She gets a little joy out of bringing happiness to others. She likes to bake or craft to display her affections, or to just make others feel better. Rio has a very calming aura that seems to affect her voice - something her brother uses as an excuse to nap in her vicinity while she's reading aloud. (She doesn't mind of course, as she finds it endearing.)
+ Patient: Rio likes to wait for others to be relaxed before pushing them to do anything outside of their comfort zone. If it someone else's decision, she doesn't mind delay. - Anxious: Honestly, even without her power, Rio is constantly worried about how she is to be judged, or how she may come across to others, due to the way her teachers, and some higher class members, sometimes treat her. Name Day: 21st Day of Spring
Background: Kirsikka Rhionne Felinean was born as the sweet cherry blossoms bloomed, and her irises were a shocking pink, matching the trees outside of her mother's window that looked into their garden. Her mother fondly gave her the name Kirsikka Rhionne as the baby let out something of a growl when she saw her mother's tail. Even with this display of ferocity, Kirsikka was a small and weak thing, seemingly the runt of her family. It almost frightened her mother, who coddled her, and her father, who began training her very young due to his fear.

Despite the support the received from her family, especially from an older brother whose sarcastic words turned sweet if directed at her, Kirsikka preferred to stay in her shell. She connected with her family regardless of her behavior, continuing to do an exceptional job in the lessons her father curated for her. During her first transformation, where she was asked to turn into a small bear, Kirsikka did so with no qualms, which amazed her family. It was unfortunate that this amazement couldn't last; Kirsikka lost control of her mind, which reverted to that of a bear cub's. With the mindset of a frightened baby bear, Kirsikka attacked her brother whom she had deemed was a threat as he came over to help calm her, brandishing him with a cut along his neck. She almost went for a nurse before she was finally subdued.

Although her teachers explained this was expected, Kirsikka was scarred by the experience and felt she didn't deserve to go by her royal name due to her lack of control. Her chosen name, Rio, followed her mother's theme and came from her middle name, but her teachers deemed her 'unworthy' of her power because she refused to accept herself and, in some financially beneficial circles, her unworthiness was wonderful gossip; a princess descended from the Cat Fae, not worthy? It was like catnip to them. Rio struggled to meet their expectations - most of them didn't understand how quickly the mind shifts, how changing the form can change them, how it can impact the mind. They just saw it as a failure if she didn't complete a transformation without question. This treatment caused Rio to revert further into her shell; however, when her parents reminded her of the trials, she tried to agree without hesitation in her voice. She didn't want to disappoint them, but they didn't seem to get it. No one did. They just didn't understand that with every great transformation seemed to come an equally as horrid accident....

Astute: With people constantly out to get the better of her, Aurora quickly learned to adapt. Not even from her own mother and siblings was she safe from mind games. So, as to not feel like a victim, she quickly learned how to keep up. She mastered the ability to read a room and how to tell when her siblings were up to something, so as to best be able to save herself from being the target. In regards to her mother's fluctuating mood, she also taught herself how to tell when it was best to avoid the woman, or else be dragged into her little games. This perceptive ability has saved her many a time.
Tenacious: Having had the need to be the best and restore her family's honor instilled in her, Aurora is quite persistent. When she feels she must accomplish something she will not be dissuaded. Whatever it takes she will do to reach her goal, even if means sometimes going against who she is as a person to see it through. To many this near obsessive desire to complete a task she puts her mind to might seem unhealthy, but she has only ever received praise from her mother for having such a mindset. Wanting to succeed couldn't possibly be something to view as negative, in her own opinion.
Thick-skinned: Growing up in a rather cold home environment, Aurora has learned the very useful trait of ignoring words intended to cause her harm. Sticks and stones, and all that. She has heard some of the worst things one could hear about themselves as a child, and as a sort of defense mechanism, has developed a desensitization to empty words that are meant to hurt her and question her worth.
Loyal: Despite her less than compassionate personality, and general lack of regard for the feelings of others, she does place a high value on loyalty. She has been taught her entire life to never turn your back on family, no matter how tempted you are. Once you have bonded with someone, especially through blood, to betray them in their time of need is simply unforgivable. While to many she may seem fickle and unreliable, her sense of loyalty is so strong that she would not only stick by someone's side who has done obvious wrong, but she would also be willing to do less than moral things to help them in times of need.
Sly: While Aurora does have some sense of morality, she is still quite untrustworthy. In her eyes, she comes first and she is not above using devious and underhanded methods to get her way. Usually, she goes about this by pretending to be amicable and forming artificial bonds with others to find out their secrets and weaknesses and use them to her advantage. She is quite good at putting on an act and playing along, as long as the effort pays off in the end.
Competitive: Growing up in a household where she was constantly pitted against her siblings has made Aurora alarmingly competitive. She does not like to lose, and to do so is the biggest blow to her ego. There has always been a high pressure upon her to succeed and outdo those around her, to the point where she does not feel accomplished unless she proves she is better than others by besting them. The power trip she gets from outclassing someone is one of her favorite feelings. Of course, on the flip side, when she loses she falls into a bitter spiral of self-hatred and growing disdain for her family.
Facetious: Because life would've been a lot harder if she hadn't developed some way to cope as a child, Aurora began to develop a more flippant attitude. When circumstances are serious and the atmosphere is heavy, she doesn't respond in the appropriate nature. Instead, she treats such things with a derisive attitude and shows little respect for the gravity of a situation. It is her way from allowing such things to affect her deeply, similar to her ability to remain unbothered when being insulted or criticised.
Hypocritical: Like most people, Aurora can be quite contradictory. There are many traits she believes others should have whilst lacking them in herself, and yet priding herself on that very fact. For example, she values people who are honest in everything they do, but prides herself on not being so transparent and would never accept such a quality in herself. She holds people to a higher moral standard than herself, while simultaneously mocking them for being so weak.

Personality

Loyal: Unwaveringly sticks by those who've rightfully earned their trust.
Fowler is no cowardly fox who runs and hides at the first whiff of trouble. Especially when his family or loved ones are threatened. He will bare his teeth and stand his ground against any threat. Until they are all safe.
Curious: Eager to know or learn something.
Fowler is renown for his curiosity, and excels at piecing together clues and figuring out mysteries. A trait he picked up from his mother who would often hide toys from him and leave clues for him to figure out where. Forcing him to become very observant and think outside the box.
Mischievous: Causing or showing a fondness for causing trouble in a playful way.
Like all foxes Fowler has a fondness for chaos and trouble, especially if he's the source. Paired with his love for fun, he is often the source of many pranks through out the castle and town. Most are harmless and the one's that aren't, well...they probably deserved it.
Guarded: Cautious and having possible reservations.
Thanks to his past with the castle children Fowler tends to be guarded around others, unless they are family or friends. Though he is good at masking it by acting playful. Very few actually earn his trust and will always be careful of his words and footing around others until they do, though tries to keep them unaware of it.
Stubborn: Having or showing dogged determination not to change one's attitude or position on something, especially in spite of good arguments or reasons to do so
A partner of his curiosity, Fowler is unwittingly stubborn at times. It's what has pushed him through his training and made him who he is. Without it he would still probably be a meek sickly little boy with no voice. So it's not a trait he is quick to let go of, for better or for worst.
Hyperactive: Abnormally or extremely active.
As a child Fowler was constantly seeking for things to keep him distracted. Playing games or sneaking away from his guards and into his father office was his main amusements. One thing never holding his attention for long. That paired with his natural playfulness made him a terror to his guards, tutor, and mother. The only contact he really had. Now that he is older he has calmed but he still finds it difficult to focus on just one thing. Often drifting off during classes or getting hit in combat training because his attention had turned to something else.
Vengeful: Seeking to harm someone in return for a perceived injury.
Once a meek child Fowler is now able to defend himself and others and strike back at any enemies. Something he does so with relish. Rather with pranks or fist Fowler isn't one to let an insult or attack go unpunished. He might even take some joy out of getting his revenge.
bad tempered: quick to lose one's temper.
Fowler is usually in good spirits and does his best to remain calm but he does have a temper on him that can cloud his judgement at the worst of time. Causing him to lash out in extremely stressful situations.

Backstory

Name Day: 30th day of Spring
Background:
Fowler was born on a warm spring morning to the Duke and Duchess of Belerast. His mother, Duchess Alicia Ankur Vulpes, and father, Duke Johan Azar Vulpes, were overjoyed to welcome their first son into the world after such a hard long pregnancy. Fowler was born weak and small, and so spent much of his early life under the protective watch of his guard, parents, and personal healer. He was often kept away from the other children of the castle in fear he would catch something and die. Leaving Fowler playing by himself and feeling lonely and isolated. His mother would try her best to keep him occupied. She would perform sound magic and hide toys and give him clues to find them, when he wasn't in a lesson with his tutors that is. His father was determined that if his son couldn't be strong he could at least be smart.

His isolation from the other kids at court caused him to be the target of much whispering and some slight bullying. When he was 8 years old and finally allowed to venture out to play with them they tricked him into playing hide n seek in an unused part of the castle, slipping from his guards sight. There they locked him in a small room and left. He was stuck there for almost a whole night, before finally one of the kids confessed and he was found. The children were punished heavily but Fowler was left terrified of dying trapped in a small space and wasn't quick to trust others after. Though, it did give him the determination to get stronger. He no longer wanted to have to depend on his guards or parents.

Fowler decided that first order of business was to get revenge on the children. They had been punished by his parents but if he didn't do something then they would still be under the impression he was weak. So he used the mischievous side only his mother and guard ever saw and one by one they fell to his pranks. He found he was good at stealing and being sneaky. Likely thanks to his fox heritage.

Then he begged his father to let him start combat and magic training. His father, pleased to see his son's desire to improve, quickly agreed and got him the best combat and magic tutors he could. Fowler struggled at first in combat training, his muscles unused to being used except to pick up books, but he was stubborn and determined. So, within half a year Fowler was no longer unable to walk or move after his training session and had grown stronger. Though, most of his combat abilities relied on speed, dodging, and using his opponents weight against them. The training also helped increase his stamina which helped when it came to learning magic. Especially Illusion magic, which he found he was most compatible with. His tutor found that once he had the right stamina for it that Fowler was quite talented with it.

With his training and strength came new freedom. He was no longer watched as closely and allowed to leave the castle frequently. He enjoyed going to the forest and napping in the trees with the birds or mingling with commoners in town who weren't nearly as deceiving as the men and women at court and even striked up a few friendships. He found he enjoyed having fun and he especially enjoyed dancing, outside the stuffy ballrooms. He picked up the flute during this time and would entertain the children in town playing and dancing. Reveling in his new found free spirit.

One day, while taking a walk in the forest, he discovered an owlet had fallen from it's nest and injured it's wing. Having a fondness for birds, as he had always envied their freedom, he took her to the castle and begged the healers to help her. From then on the two were thick as thieves. He dubbed her Arya, and she was fiercely protective of him. The owlet could always be found on his shoulder or nearby. Ready to peck out eyes or deliver letters.

Once he turned 15 Fowler was given his staff and finished his regular combat training, instead only going once a month to keep up with what he had learnt, and began to take classes at the mage collage. He had learned all he could from his tutors. In the meantime between classes and spending time with his friends and family he was helping out around town. He and his father even left to visit other families and kingdoms once he turned 18 and he found he enjoyed traveling and exploring.

[div class=title]Background[/div] In the middle of the harvest season, the Fawnus family welcomed their new baby princess, her prominent doe ears and tail stuck out against the babe's frail form. A sign that she was greatly blessed by the Fae and she was named after their ancestor, Elafína, who was known as a priestess- a healer. But when the newborn opened her eyes, they were shocked to see ruby red eyes. Perhaps it was another blessing from the fae, they thought. Some of the elders thought otherwise. They said it was a curse, a misfortune to the family. Along with her brother's stigma, the elders spouted that it will be the downfall of The Falindean Republic. Nevertheless, their parents loved them and saw no faults in their children. The Fawnus siblings were just a year apart and barely had any resemblance to one another. The prince had white hair and piercing blue eyes, while the princess had raven hair and bright red eyes. Despite that, they were very close friends as toddlers and rarely fought amongst each other. They both showed kind and loving attitudes and the parents couldn't have been prouder.

At a young age, Elafína had shown a strong connection to the woods. Often times, the princess would be missing for hours on end and the frantic servants would find her playing deep in the forest, surrounded by sprouting plants even in the middle of winter. When her parents decided to start training her brother, they assigned tutors and doctors to teach her magic and science. As their training and studying commenced, their time together decreased over the years. Only when it was time to involve them in diplomatic meetings and political lessons do they get to spend time again. With Elafína's passion for plants and healing, she quickly embraced her magic and impressed her tutors time and time again. Despite her grateful and caring ways with plants, rare flora that she summons are still hostile against her and her tutors soon realised that she has no way of defending herself. Thus, joining her brother in combat training, though limited to self defence.

An elder came to her when she was 12, claiming that they wanted to tell her stories and secrets of the Fawnus family lineage. Elafína had no reason to decline and she trusted them like family. But the councilmen didn't bring her to a library or secret chamber of archives. Instead, she found three cloaked figures in a dark room. They stood around a table in a dark room, candles were sparsely placed on the ground and barely lit anything. The princess tried to excuse herself, but she was outmatched by strong arms and magic, and she soon fell unconscious to a sleep spell. When she woke up, she was alone in the room. Her garments were loosely wrapped around her torso and the skin around her shoulder blades ached. Her eyes peered over her shoulder to see what was causing the discomfort and managed to make out the red ink in the shape of an eye. The tattoos had an eerie design, marking her as a target or a cause of misfortune. Her brother found her in a state of shock and silent tears running down her cheeks.

To her parents dismay, the elder had ran off that night, but they continued their search for him and his associates. Believing that they should be punished harshly for their actions. Elafína didn't want to push the matter further. She became reclusive, believing that her red eyes were some sort of evil upon her family. It was her brother that convinced her otherwise. If anything, she started working harder to prove that her brother's words are true. That she's no curse. Since then, she's proved to the people again and again that her heart and intentions were pure. She wanted nothing more than peace and happiness for Sodariel. Surely, such a good natured person couldn't harbour any ill will.

Growing close to her brother once more, she made a promise to herself that she would make Sodariel free of discrimination. So that people like her and her brother would never have to experience what they did, and that they were proof that the Fae's blessing were still present in the Fawnus family. [/div]

B A C K G R O U N D
↳ Raised by strict parents who had nothing but high expectations for both of their children, Ardyn grew up learning how to fight just as well as she could run. Her father, King Chepri of the Ombar Kingdom, was a rather cold man who rarely, if ever, showed any affection towards his children. However, her brother, Setesh, bared a larger portion of their father's pressure, given that he was the oldest and firstborn son. A strict schedule was soon formed- from private tutors to battle training to learning how to harness her Poison Control, she was molded into the perfect snake princess. Even though their mother, Queen Krea, displayed more warmth and affection than their father, Ardyn and her brother were mainly raised by nannies, and her first friends were the maids, chefs, and servants of the castle.

As a result, she formed an unbreakable bond with Setesh. The siblings soon learned that they could only trust each other. Although they had obvious differences in personality, they had underlying similarities, forming a team in such a pressurizing household. As young teenagers, they would often sneak out at night together, exploring the sleeping city and getting in trouble for their various escapades. However, after many harsh scoldings by their father, her brother began to dedicate more time and energy to his royal responsibilities. Now, Ardyn understands the intense pressure that he feels to lead their Kingdom, on top of his struggles with his own sexuality.

It had always been obvious that Setesh was the favored child of their father. Although this gave Ardyn more freedom to herself and less royal responsibilities, a subconscious part of her wanted to prove her own worth to her parents. As she grew older, she dedicated all of her time and energy to perfecting her combat skills, honing her dexterity to be one of the most formidable. Her agility with her poison-laced dagger and precision with her throwing knives created an almost flawless assassin.

In her adolescence, she came to learn that her parents were not only the royal rulers of the entire kingdom, but also the leaders of the mysterious Thieves Guild and their sister organization, the Red Band mercenaries. However, extremely few were privy to this information and the royal family's secret identities. Like her brother, she adopted a second alias to use during her Guild missions under the cover of the night. Ardyn became known as Razor, named after her sharp assassin skills. With her mask on and black clothing, she became heavily involved in the inner workings of this spy network.

When her father turned 50, he officially handed his position as the leader of the Guild over to Setesh. Having proven her worth and her abilities, she was given the responsibility of ruling the Red Band mercenaries. Ardyn thought that their father had finally seen everything she had to offer, but when it became clear that her leading position of the mercenaries was only a temporary job until her brother became comfortable enough to take on all the duties, she knew that the King only had his sights set on the Snake Prince. After all, King Chepri valued masculinity and aggression, adopting the traditional belief that only the eldest son should be honored with the sacred duties of the Ombar Kingdom.

Meanwhile, Ardyn learned to hone her magical abilities with Poison Control. She knew that virtually everyone's skin secretes oil from various glands into their hair follicles to lubricate the skin and hair. With the help of the castle apothecary, she created concoctions of various poisons mixed with liquids that had properties similar to that of skin oil. Starting out with low doses, she slowly began to increase the amount of poison in these amalgams to increase her body's resistance.

All was going well until one day, her impatience almost cost her her life. She ingested more than she could handle and her body slipped into septic shock. Luckily, the apothecary had created an anecdote for this very purpose. Afterwards, Ardyn spent days lying in bed under his careful watch. During this recovery period, she spent a considerable amount of time with the apothecary's son, Doran, who was training to take over his father's job one day. She developed quite a liking towards him, drawn to his compassionate and selfless heart.

Even after she was nursed back to full health, Ardyn began to sneak out under the cover of the night to spend time with him. He was her first love. She had always avoided intimacy due to her self-image issues, as she knew that her scales were an unappealing trait to many. However, it seemed that Doran loved every inch of her body. She knew that her parents would never approve of this relationship, as they had aspirations to marry her off to another wealthy, powerful family, never a lowly commoner such as the apothecary's son. Setesh was the only person she ever confided in, and he helped cover for her in front of others.

Going into the 8th tournament, there is immense pressure for her and her brother to win. King Chepri had always harbored a jealousy of his older brother, who was chosen to enter the 7th tournament and became a highly celebrated victor. However, perhaps what enrages him even more is his brother's decision for all the contestants to rule their kingdoms equally rather than taking it all for themselves. Now, the Ombar King expects his children to correct his brother's pathetic decision. Although her competitive spirit fights to win any tournament she is a part of, Ardyn mainly grapples to stay alive so that she can return to her lover back home.

Background: Antlers are the pride of the Fawnus family. The strong branches atop their heads are not only attractive to members of the family, but the symbol of their connection to the Fae. So, what happens when a child is born without these antlers? What happens when it's a member of the royal family?

On the fourth day of Winter, an innocent baby burst into the world crying. In that little room, as the sunlight leaned in through the winding bars of the window, the King and Queen of the Fawnus family smiled warmly at their newborn son. They named him Ark, the one who would reach the end of the sea and keep his loved ones safe from the dark, twisting storm.

When his antlers still didn't grow in at all by age four, the King and Queen realized the future that awaited Ark, and it broke their hearts. His parents still loved him, but to the rest of the world, he would always be the disgrace of the Fawnus family, walking proof that the Fae's blessings were fading. The King and Queen put Ark on a rigorous tutoring program to train him in all facets of life. The magic tutor taught him the Cure Wounds branch of healing magic, but his life force was a trickling stream to the mighty river of his sister.

The royal family kept Ark inside throughout his young life, focused solely on his tutoring. They thought he would be the protector of the Fawnus, but they found themselves desperately trying to protect him from the outside. However, Ark wasn't deprived of a keen sense of hearing and a surprisingly sharp mind, and he quickly came to understand what it meant to be a prince without antlers. He thought his parents locked him up out of sheer embarrassment. From that moment on, he worked effortlessly on his tutoring, becoming proficient in combat, diplomacy, music, and other activities. After becoming self-reliant, he stayed by himself. No Fawnus girl would want to marry a man without antlers, and no Fawnus-anybody would form a proper friendship with him. He was alone in his own capital.

His sister was nothing like him. She had proud antlers like the rest of his family, bountiful, flowing magic energy, and easily completed her tutoring. She was the child the King and Queen needed, and because of the expectations placed on them as the royal family, they couldn't help but favorite her and give her most of the opportunities they wanted to reserve for Ark. It was as if she stole a piece of him at birth. But it didn't matter, because he loved her just like everyone else.

Ark began to believe what he always heard whispered around the corner of the wall: that he was worthless, that he should never be king, that his sister would be the perfect ruler of the family. He devoted himself to supporting her, sacrificing his own happiness to her. The only one he trusts. As the tournament begins, he will stop at nothing to ensure her victory. He will finally be useful. He will protect her.

He will be her ark.

The Chameleon Fae Gave Me: The ability to adopt whatever animal attribute I want for a given time. But I prefer to keep my natural horn on my forehead and the iridescent, scaly skin across my back.

He learned quickly in order to compete with his siblings and found ways to trick them along the way as to gain his mother's affection first an foremost.
Charismatic: Seeing as they weren't part of the original Tournament and were forcing their way in, Alastair figured he'd need to practice being charming. He needed the royal participants to think he meant no harm and eventually learned to pick up on the smallest social cues and twisted them into his favor.
Fashionable: Partnering the idea that charming the royals being a central part of winning the Tournament, he has also researched what type of fashion is mostly appealing to the different cultures. He, however, found that he loved lavishing himself in the clothes and does it now just for himself rather than to please others.
Manipulative: Alastair enjoys toying with people and making them dance when he tells them to. He gained this trait from his mother and at times, they would work in tandem to see how far they could push his siblings.
Judgmental: Alastair holds everything, including himself. to a very high standard and if those expectations aren't met, he believes whatever he is judging to be lesser.
Spiteful: A limitless spring of spite was nurtured in Alastair seeing as the other Fae exiled his own Fae to another plane of existence. He wants to be apart of Sodariel, even if it means tricking everyone.

This is My Story: Being born in a barren waste land, among ruins of an old castle was depressing. So when the Nidae siblings were born, they were born knowing adversity. The Chameleon Fae had died long before them, but it made sure to bestow its gifts on the Nidae family before doing so. But there was a condition to be met: revenge. They needed to find a way back into Sodariel's realm so that they can show the rest of the Fae that they were still worthy of being apart of their home. And Alastair's family was brought up with these ideals. His mother, the High Queen Celestia, noticed that their little pocket dimension was beginning to encroach on others. The small tribe in their home of Zanubia, or what was left of it, was made to look into these occurrences and to report back to her immediately. If they failed, their families would be sent to the execution block. It was a very dark, strict rule and it was no different for her children. When Celestia discovered that one of the dimensions that they could now visit was the same one that the royals would participate in the Tournament in, she became elated. The Nidae bloodline was about to come to fruition because instead of sending two of her children, she would send all three. So she began training them, even pitting them against each other at times.

At first, Alastair was very much against it and even tried to wake his comatose father to save them from their mother who was now obsessed in warfare. But the king wouldn't wake up and as time turned Alastair cold, he grew to resent his own father. After all, why would someone who supposedly cared for the Nidae name fall so easily to an illness?

Al trained day and night for both his mind and body. His sole purpose was to learn how to beat the royals, not necessarily how to rule. And in order to fully teach himself, he would pit himself against his siblings and the men in the tribe around him. He won and fail enough to learn valuable skills and traits, but he grew colder and colder. Because every time he showed anything that fueled his mother's dream for revenge, he was nurtured and spoiled. She convinced people from her tribe to raid caravans in Sodariel for silks and other materials that fit Alastair's liking. She got him foods he had never tried, including decadent floral teas from Heloress and Ithlolen. And she even helped him play mind games on his siblings and surrounding tribesmen so that he could see what different emotions looked like on different people. The praise and prizes he got from her helped teach him things that weren't becoming of a noble man in Sodariel, but moreso one that people were taught to avoid.

He never loved like one traditionally loved. He cared for his siblings and would do everything to help them recover from what he may have done to them. He has also incurred their wrath just to feel the tinge of excitement he got from receiving pain and it somehow helped him bring them closer to him. They were a very strange family bred from physical and mental anguish, but once they made a home in Sodariel, it would be worth it. They were certain of it.

Animal Attributes: Parelle has a long sticky tongue that can be shot out and reeled back in at a distance of four feet. He has a scaled pattern along his palms and the bottom of his feet that make climbing and gripping easier. He can change his eye color on command. A scaly 3 foot long tail extends from behind Parelle, and the green scales crawl up his back from the base of his tail.

Scars: Parelle has many scars running all over his body that he has created himself when using his own blood for magic. They cross each other and spiral and curve everywhere but his neck and face.
Attire: Parelle most often wears loose robes that cover his entire body. They are usually made of a fine silk, but are unornamented. Underneath he wears a wrap to keep himself decent if he ever needs to take off the robe.


Caring: Parelle holds a deep love in his heart. He loves his parents and siblings deeply, and wants the best for all living things.
Brilliant: Reading books is Parelle's favorite pastime. He grasps new ideas easily and remembers nearly everything he sees or reads. Sharing
Patient: Parelle can have an assistant make the same mistake ten times and not get cross. People can swear at him, talk behind his back, or sneer and Parelle will let it slide off him like water. He can wait patiently for the right moment to strike, and eat slowly to enjoy the full breadth of a meal. Patience is in Parelles's soul.
Insane: Due to an accident in Parelle's youth he has lost some of his sanity. He is vaguely aware of this and has rare moments of clarity. Parelle feels a sense of separation from the world and it's people and it has left him with an odd emptiness.

Background: Born into a land of darkness, Parelle began his odd life as a banished prince silently. He was a quiet child who had little to do on that island of darkness. He began reading earlier than most children and the materials he had to read from weren't very light. The Nidae family had saved only the most important of books from their collection. He read through history, geography, and legends about a land he had never seen. He read books on mechanics, botany, astrology, physics, and other scientific works. He would read and re-read all of them. Working out techniques of memorization, and attempting experiments when he was able.


One day Parelle's mother, High Queen Celestia, brought him three new books to read. They were called "Blood Magic, Truths and Applications". Ever so exited at the new opportunity, the eight year old Parelle dove in. Apparently some sort of cave of light had been discovered and it had ignited a passion and happiness in Queen Celestia that Parelle hadn't seen before. Wanting to make his mother proud he started practicing blood magic. She provided him with subjects to test on, encouraging him every step of the way. He would use his own blood, living blood from those who were to be executed, and dead blood from those who had died of hunger or sickness. Parelle felt sick whenever he used living people, but it was for his family to get back at the realm who had betrayed his them.

On top of reading, physical training was now a regular part of Parelle's day. He was to be trained with his siblings to combat the royalty of Sodariel. He wished to learn a weapon with a challenging learning curve and searched through his books, coming upon the meteor hammer to which he added a small shield. This was crafted for him using what limited supplies they had to give the small smithy. He did not like hurting his siblings, but they seemed determined to get better and better, and Parelle wanted to give them a challenge to overcome. Overcome him they did.

After mastering all of the basic and intermediate uses of blood magic, Parelle decided it was time to try an advanced technique that his mother had been pushing him to learn. It was meant to open portals to other realms. This life-changing event happened when Parelle was 16 years old. Up to this point Parelle had only channeled magic through himself or another, and the books were not basic enough to explain the base principals of magic. Instead of focusing on a point where he wanted to rip the hole into Sodariel, Parelle channeled the energy through his body where it coalesced in his mind. With this surge of emotion and power tearing through his body Parelle's mind lost the image if Sodariel and focused on the greater idea of going to another realm. This was when the channeling finished. Parelle's mind was a maelstrom of chaos. He saw creatures and plants he recognized, but he also was haunted by demons, aliens, and outsiders. Some of these being sensed his presence in the astral rift and tormented him. When Parelle finally came to he was 17. Nearly 10 months had past since he had attempted the spell. The practice of blood magic by Parelle's other siblings was forbade by his mother to prevent a disaster like this from happening again.

After coming awake again, Parelle began to have strange dreams. His consciousness had been warped to exist between dimensions, and other realms and realities showed themselves while Parelle was awake. When he slept his brain drifted and often became fully immersed in other realities. This deeply disturbed Parelle for years, as he feared sleep for the chance his conciousness might drift into hell. Slowly over the years Parelle began to grasp this ability. He taught himself how to hide his presence and act as an observer to these strange realities. Mindsets and beliefs alien to any human and experiences no normal man could ever know revealed themselves to Parelle now in his waking dreams. This power only added the breaking of his mind and the warping of thoughts.

The initial experience brought Parelle several revelations. Magic could be channeled in near a great many ways. This life in banishment was a gift compared to other possibilities. Beings exist that many people could not comprehend without seeing them. Life is precious. This last revelation changed some of Parelle's most important views. He no longer used any living creatures blood for his magic if it would kill them. He would try to help people stay alive whether they are friend or foe. Revenge in the way that his mother wished against the Sodariel was neither just or fair. From the histories he had read, most of the families seemed noble or righteous. The Nidae must have done something to deserve their banishment. Parelle locked this secret away in his heart, so that he would still be sent to Sodariel where he would try to understand the other royals and make amends. Parelle's mind was also broken. He feared images and creatures others could not see, and he seemed more distant. His family was simply happy to see him alive, but his new superstitious nature threw them off. He couldn't stand being in the tight binds of armor for more than an hour, and he was much more talkative. Instead of the hidden bookworm he now seemed to want to connect with his family and understand them more. They did not always reciprocate, but family meant much more to Parelle now. He would have to protect them once they went to Sodariel. While his ramblings and oddities are offputting at first, those around him have grown used to it over the years and accept him for the broken yet brilliant man he has become.

Loyalty: When Allucard gives on his loyalty, there is nothing in heaven or on earth that could ever change his opinion of that person. He would live, fight and die for that person without any hesitation. Especially family.

Rage: When something breaks his personal moral code he is quick to anger. When enraged only a rare few people can stop him. His family is the safest bet. In his angered state he will attack the person or thing that has broken his code. He will not stop till that person is dead or the object is destroyed. He will harm himself and push himself to the point of death if not stopped.
Stubbornness: Once he has his mind one something it is nearly impossible to change his mind. He will fight to the end for what he believes in. It takes a massive amount of evidence to change his mind if he is wrong.
Closed: Allucard refuses to open up to just anybody. He does not enjoy opening up. He fears he will be judged due to his inner weakness. This is why he puts up a tough look.

Name Day: 20th of Winter
Background:
Born into a land of snow and labor, Allucard was born the first born prince of The Kingdom of Truvaria. He was supposed to be the prize child of the kingdom. And he was. It was clear as he was raised that he was the one they wanted.. His gift in magic, physical power and intelligence were everything that the family wanted. However, there was one issue with him. He was born with such unrelenting rage. Every full moon they had to chain him up. His wolf form was uncontrollable and the family lived in fear of his power. He knew he was unstoppable, so he ran his family. No one dared to defy him. He was on a path of anger and tyrannical rule.

Allucard was about 11 when his life changed forever. He was out watching his people work hard. They were working to make sure their families were well taken care of through the barren and horrid winter months. It was a normal stroll with his mother. Then, one of the workers hauling wood wood to their house bumped him. Allucard had become accustom to getting his own way and having no punishment for anything he did. When he felt the bump his mind went blank. He was not used to someone bumping him and it angered him. His vision went red as he ran to the man with the intent to kill. When his vision came back he saw his worst nightmare. In front of him, with his hand driven into her chest, was his mother. He stood in shock as tears streamed down his cheeks. He looked in horror at his mother who simply smiled at him. The woman he loved most in this world was now impaled on his blood stained hand. She touched his cheek and spoke to him with silken, broken voice of pain "My son.....your power is your greatest strength.......…" Her words broken by her cough of blood ".....don't let it....be your weakness too."

After those words left her lips she fell to the ground, lifeless. Allucard was shocked. After his mothers funeral he didn't eat, speak or move for a month. During this time he really thought about what his power could do. He thought about why he had the strength he had and what it meant for him. Within his time of solitude he had decided. He would live the way his mother wanted him to. With new found purpose Allucard devoted himself fully to becoming a worthy prince. The type of prince his people deserved.

For years he studied how to control his temper. He soon learned to keep his wolf side under control every full moon. He mastered Enhancement Magic, learned to wield a one handed longsword and learned as much as he could to make sure his people would be fine once his time to rule comes. Once he turned 17, his father his father awarded him his sword. It was the 'Canis Vorpal'. A sword made from the chains used to restrain him during full moons. He continued his training under his father. Soon becoming the undisputed, strongest warrior of the kingdom. However, he felt trapped in a prison of genius. He had been born stronger than most. Some would say the strongest of the new generation of rulers. However, he was bored. He didn't have the freedom to fail in his prison of genius. That is why the upcoming trials spoke to him so closely. It was his time to try something new with the intent of winning, but with the ever present fear of failure.

Now at 20, Allucard is ready to go to Sodariel, to prove himself worthy of his crown and to show the other future rulers, that he is not to be messed with.

Personality

+ Cunning: Koa has a quick wit and a sharp mind. Keeping people on their toes is one of his favorite past times. Koa is known for receiving challenges to play games, especially chess (his favorite), on the street when he is out speaking to his people. Koa likes to ask questions for the intent of finding loopholes, just for Alana's sake, trying to find a way that she can cause just a bit of mischief.

+ Modest (Surprise!): Talking about himself isn't Koa's strongest suit, or a thing the prince has ever liked to do, as someone with a good amount of common sense, morality, and humility. Koa would rather be seen as a normal guy - difficult, given the circumstances - so boasting about his achievements isn't something he would find fun. He leaves things like that to the people who announce he's arrived, because that in itself is enough enthusiasm about his title.

+ Charismatic: Koa has been charming people ever since his mom laid eyes on him. He was raised to be pleasing so he would be a good match for other royalty, but he didn't really need any training. Koa loves to see how people can become flustered if he says the right words to them. He adores seeing them like that; he thinks it's quite cute, and won't hesitate to say so just to see what reaction it brings.

- Petty: Koa is very vindictive. Whenever something is done to him, he likes to return it, tenfold. It doesn't matter if the little voice in his head tells him it's not a smart decision; by then, he's already done the deed, and feeling good about getting someone back.

- Impulsive: Because Koa is so good at gambling and taking risks, he does it, just for the fun of it. He can't really help it; he can't really explain the rush he gets from letting loose. He does a good job of hiding this behavior while it's daytime, but as soon as the sun goes down, his impulses rise. It's not hurting anyone, anyway.

- Distracted: Koa can get distracted by his *ahem* princely duties, and that can keep him from looking at what's in front of him. He'll enjoy courting a lord or lady and won't notice until later that he missed something his parents told him to do. Whoops.

History

Name Day: 33rd Day of Fall

Background: On the thirty-third day of Fall, the first prince was finally born to the duke and duchess in Belerast, after three years of attempts. It almost drove his mother wild to see his bright orange eyes and to finally, finally hear the coos of a young kit. She gave him the name Koannon Fennick, naming him after his father, hoping that he would be healthy and as wonderful as the duke. A lot of expectancy from a small child who was just born, but whenever his mother tells this story over and over, Koa likes to imagine she did it out of love and not out of desperation that he'd stay with her. As he grew into a healthy young boy, the duchess felt herself relax - only to find herself in high gear once more as she became pregnant again.

Koannon, who liked to shorten his name to Koa, noticed the change in attention he received once his younger sister was born. He saw how happy the people were now that there were not just one, but two royal kits in Belerast. It must have been a sign, they said, for the duke and duchess to receive such a blessing after the duchess' hardship. A blessing that they could pay forward, since they had now a prince and a princess. Koa took it as a sign, too: one that things were changing. Suddenly he wasn't allowed to get away with things, since his parents only kept nannies around who would fuss at everything he attempted to do. Plus, his sister seemed to be fussy; whenever she wasn't the one in the spotlight, she would fuss.

He had to admit that it was amusing for a while, but then, as the eldest, Koa was given the most responsibility. Koa began putting two and two together in his mind; his sister was allowed to do what she pleased while he had to work hard. While he worked, starting his training in magic and fighting around four years of age, he was considered an angel of a child, while his sister was the baby, catered to at every turn. Koa figured out his role; if he acted like the good older brother, if he did what was expected of him, he could get by doing practically whatever he wanted. Instead of being angry at his sister, he took advantage of the fact that she never seemed to get into a lot of trouble, as the "baby", by seeing just how much mischief she was allowed to get away with. It was like she was his own outlet for the pranks he was never allowed to cause himself. Soon enough, everyone knew that wherever Alana went, causing nonsense, her brother Koa wouldn't be that far behind, a smile on his face as he watched his sister have fun.

Koa found himself wanting to work with elemental magics, letting his sister have the floor when it came to illusions, something the family was best known for. He'd never admit it, but it was Alana who saw his first mistake, years ago; he had tried to get an older tree to allow him to use their vines, but he hadn't been as nice as he could've. For that, the tree whipped one of its branches around, giving him a thin scratch across his collarbone. Koa silently cursed and pressed the wound, trying to stop the bleeding, not too concerned about it - but when he turned away and saw Alana there, scared that he'd gotten hurt, it spiked his worry. He learned to be more respectful to what he was working with, becoming more empathetic the more he worked with the plants that surrounded him. He also knew he had to be better at his power, for the sake of the kingdom, but also to make sure he never saw Alana look as frightened as she'd had when she saw him back then.

The duke and duchess were conflicted on whether to be happy Koa wasn't doing the same tricks as Alana, as their prince and the face of Belerast, or that Alana was helping Koa become in tune with his own inner fox, since the boy had seemingly lacked that initiative. Regardless, Koa and Alana seemed to fit well together; of course, they had their moments of sibling rivalry, but Koa was pleased to have been born first, so he could be there for his sister when she needed him. He harbors no ill-will to her, even when she pulls his tail just to hear him bark. (He's gotten better at knowing when she's going to do that again.) As they grew, Koa became more centered in his prince role, while making sure Alana got the spotlight she so desired. They were a pair to beat. But when the trials were coming, Koa started to feel protective, once again. He couldn't lose, for he couldn't frighten his sister again or disappoint her. Koa realized he would do anything necessary to secure his spot as king, anything that brought him closer to what he coveted most: the Vulpes family proving their worth.
