S.A.O - Anime based rp

Kayaba Akihiko has released a new Nerve Gear game. Sword Art Online or S.A.O for short. You are one of the thousands of players that bought and started the game. However, when entering the game you notice that you can't log out of the game. Akihiko has called you to the main hub and stated "This is my world. My creation. You may have already noticed that you can't log out. This is no glitch. This is by design. Once in the game you can't leave. In order for every one to leave. At least one...

Leo walks into his room with the new game release from Nerve Gear. He shuts his door and plugs up to the system. "Game start'" he commands the system to start. The HUD appears and asks several questions. He answers with his age and height and weight. He does several motions to calibrate the system. The log in appears and he enters his Beta log in. He clicks on use Beta Character. "Let's hope this works." he breaths slowly and lies down on his bed. "Here we go" he shuts his eyes and gets downloaded into the game. Seth appears in the main Hub and looks around. "Woah it looks so much better than the beta." He smiles and looks down at his hands. He tightens them into a fist. "Good the system is working right." He takes a few steps forward. "Nice."

Rose was already in the game, and testing how far the system could go. Jumps, kicks, punches, and every combination of attacks seemed to work well, but since she hadn't seen any enemies yet, she didn't know how effective they really were. Her character, Eyeri, was very easy to work with, since she fit Rose's IRL body nearly perfectly. She soon stopped with the kicks and tricks and began to wander around, exploring her surroundings. She noticed that there was no -Log Off- button, but she was sure that was probably just hidden somewhere- After all, the graphics were so clean and nice that having a -Log Off- button in one corner of the screen would just ruin it all. She'd probably just find it in the pause menu somewhere... although she didn't know how to access that, either.

Oh well. She'd figure the controls out soon enough.

Emory examines the NerveGear© from all angles before setting it back down on his bed. "Man, I sure was lucky to get this thing...had to go through hell and back but once I watch Emmie's face light up, it'll be all worth it~" he smiled happily as he imagined his dear little sister. Ever since she heard about the game Sword Art Online, Emmie had been dying to get the NerveGear. She thought she could buy it herself and started filling up a piggy-bank, but Emory knew fair and well that pennies and half-dollars would get her nowhere. So, knowing her birthday was just a couple of weeks away, Emory decided to buy it himself. It was all for dear little Emmie. The Emmie who relied on him. The strong little Emmie that seemed to be so happy with her dysfunctional life.

"If I was 10 years old and forced to live with my 21 year old brother and not my own parents, I'd lose it..." he said, thoughtlessly examining the helmet. "I still have a few more hours until school lets out...I should probably check to see if this thing works. It'd be my luck to give it to Emmie and it not work." He looked down at the contents that came with the helmet. "Manual..." he grabbed the piece of paper. "How does this thing work..." He scanned the contents of the small brochure-like manual. "...put on helmet...register it...link start..." Understanding, he set the paper down and carefully slid on the helmet, as if it was prone to breaking. He wasn't sure how video games like this worked, as he hadn't had time to play one in the last few years but he was sure he didn't need to be a genius to calibrate the needed settings and make sure the game worked. Lying down on his bed, he decided to give it a go. "Link Start!"

My dear little Emmie...

they say people play games like these to escape reality.

Are you not happy? Are you putting on a front for me Emmie? Or you trying to be strong?

I'm your big brother...I'm here for you, I wish you'd rely on me a little more.

I could never replace our parents, but I promise I'll support you.

I'll still be around. So, you can still play these games...just, don't ignore me...promise?

Little did he know that he wouldn't be there to support his sister again for a very long time...

Shidori was pacing around in her room, waiting for the starting time that the sever for SAO would open up... Ever since the beta ended she had been looking forward to the official release date of the game. She had gotten her reserved copy just yesterday, being told that even if she tried to start the game it wouldn't connect to the server.

Come on.. Come on... She thought, anxiously awaiting for the time...

When the time finally came, she slipped on her nerve gear and laid down on her bed. Rubbing her hands together in anticipation, she uttered the two words that would open up her virtual life.

"Link Start!" She said, in a giddy voice. And so it did...

Her world was opened up as she was transported to select a character. The character she had previously made was actually just loading in her personal looks. Shidori thought she had no reason to hide who she actually was, for it was just a game. Besides, if you play as a different looking character, how can you feel like you're the one inside of it?

Once transported inside of the game, her blue eyes wander about the town of beginnings. Players appear all around her, the majority of which having large smiles on their faces... She kept quiet though and just walked amongst the populous...

Seth walked around for a few minutes. He soon realized he was in the standard beginner outfit. "well figures I'd be standard with everyone else." He spoke to himself. He walked into town and looked around for a weapons and armor shop. He walked into a shop and purchased his two blades an basic armor. After getting his items he walked out into the main area and started looking for some enemies to fight. With no luck Seth walked into town and sees a new female character appear. He smiled a bit and walked up to her. "Hello. My name is Seth" He said holding out his hand

Then some random guy wearing all black armor walked up to her with a smile. He offered her a hello...

She faintly smiled back, not being rude or anything, she just didn't like speaking to people.

"Hi. I'm Shidori." She simply said, not needing to overreact on the introductions. She shook his hand though to be nice...

Is this guy serious with that armor... To me he looks like a layer killer if I've ever seen one... She thought in her head, having met a lot of player killers in the beta...

Making friends wasn't a bad thing though, and he seemed friendly enough for now.

Seth smiled again when Shidori shook his hand. "You new to the game?" He asked politely. He looked her over a bit. ~definitely noob~ He thought looking at her player info. He looked at her eyes. There is a light breeze that blows across the main Hub. Feeling the wind made Seth shiver slightly. He let go of her hand and waited for an answer.

(Good to know that I'm a noob in your mind just because I just now logged on and didn't have time to do anything yet.)

She shook her head with a frown, then rolled her eyes.

I just logged on you idiot... She thought in her head, wanting to actually say that. After all, even if you were in the beta your Player Info automatically resets itself once the official game server is logged on.

The breeze went by and fluttered her silver hair as he let go of her hand and shivered. The cold didn't bother her much really, it was just a good feeling to know that she was alive in this game some how. Even if in the real world she couldn't do all that much.

(Ha, you guys won't know her life story because there was never a bio in the character sheet :P )

Seth nodded. "I see. Beta?" He asked looking at her. There were only a hand full of people who were lucky to play the Beta. Seth looked guilty for a second rethinking his last thought. ~she must have been a tester~ He looked back up at her. "Well? if you are a beta, A little suggestion for you. Get out of here. The first-timers are going to flood here soon and they will be bugging all of the betas for tips. I mean im sticking around here for a while but you and I both know what's going to happen when this game gets going. All the good spots will be taken

A standard outfit. Not the most flattering of outfits, but it was what she- and the majority of other players- were wearing. Well, it was etter than some games, where you start out nude... Yeah. Definitely better. She sighed, and went into the shops, looking for some weapons and possibly some armor. She always went for the weapons first, since most of the time having something to defend yourself with was better than having nothing and some flashy armor. After buying a fairly good dirk- Good for a beginner like herself, anyways- and some light armor, she left and looked around. Nothing very interesting was going on yet, although she supposed that something would happen soon.

Looking around, she saw that there were few players that interested her. Most were still wandering around- although a few, like the boy her eyes now rested on, had black armor and weaponry already. Her eyes narrowed imperceptibly, and she attempted to blend in with the other players- which, since she was very good at doing, wasn't too hard. Usually, people in black or red armor were serious PvPers, and she didn't really feel like fighting just yet. A breeze blew across the main town, and she realized that she would have to be very careful. She didn't like pain, and with this she could feel everything.

"I remember how much I loved games but I never was able to actually be IN a game. This is a billion times better than the Oculous Rift!" Emory, no Arluin, exclaimed; he was baffled by how realistic it all felt. "Emmie's going to love me forever!" His smile was golden as he felt like he needed to win the 'best guardian of the year' award. Walking around he watched the other players play the game and communicate with one another - just as excited as he was...but with the obvious reason of that they're playing the game. I wonder if anybody is around Emmie's age? Will she make any good friends I wonder. This better not subtract her studies. I'll need to talk to her about real life importance before giving her the game. Sighing, Arulin had to facepalm at his own thoughts. I'm already sounding like a pain in the ass parent. I used to hate that myself. He looked over towards his reflection in a nearby glass object over at the markets. He never really hated his looks, so he chose to go with looks just a bit similar to himself...except with a brown hair. He always wanted brown hair but was against dying it, as he believed in natural beauty.

Well, there's not anything I'll be doing in this game and I don't want to end up being the one hooked (ha the irony he'll learn later on), he straightened himself up and thought carefully. "Menu...how to open that up..." By the flick of his hand his menu appeared. "Right..and the log out button should be ...here? No...here? ....huh?" He tilted his head to the side as he tried to think of how to exit the game. I'll have to ask a player...

Seth felt eyes on him. "And you are?" he asked turning to the new girl. He smiled a little bit. He saw she was slightly better equipped for a new player. He sighed slightly. Then a bell rang and all of the players appeared in the main Hub. A red WARNING symbol appeared all around the sky. A voice rang out. "Welcome to Sword Art Online. Now I know what you all must be thinking. The missing Log out button. Well that is no glitch. That is by design. You all are stuck here. If you wish to leave by all means go. But removing the Nerve Gear will kill you. To leave you must beat the game. Oh and if you die here your living self also dies. Welcome to my world. Have fun."

(These r like legit his words)

"Attention players. Welcome to my world. My name is Kayaba Akihiko. As of this moment, I am the sole person who can control this world... I'm sure you've already noticed that the logout button is missing from the main menu. But this is not a defect in the game. I repeat... This is not a defect in the game. It is a feature of Sword Art Online. You cannot log out of SAO yourselves. And no one on the outside can shut down or remove the NerveGear. Should this be attempted, the transmitter inside the NerveGear will emit a powerful microwave destroying your brain and thus ending your life...." He said as multiple people began crying out for what was going on and happening.

"Unfortunately, several players' friends and family have ignored this warning, and have attempted to remove the NerveGear. As a result, two hundred and thirteen players are gone forever, from both Aincrad and the real world..." Then appeared various news reports and images around him.

"As you can see, news organizations across the world are reporting all of this, including the deaths. Thus, you can assume that the danger of a NerveGear being removed is now minimal. I hope you will relax and attempt to clear the game. But I want you to remember this clearly. There is no longer any method to revive someone within the game. If your HP drops to zero, your avatar will be forever lost. And simultaneously, the NerveGear will destroy your brain..."

"There is only one means of escape. To complete the game...." He then explained how you had to clear all 100 floors in order to beat the game...

"Finally, I've added a present from me to your item storage. Please see for yourselves."
Then everyone went into their inventory to find a mirror. This mirror then showed the actual person in real life when they looked into it. Their avatar had changed into their actual selves. Shidori however practically remained the exact same.

"Right now, your probably wondering, 'Why?' Why would Kayaba Akihiko, developer of Sword Art Online and NerveGear, do all this?' My goal has already been achieved. I created Sword Art Online for one reason... To create this world and intervene in it. And now, it is complete. This ends the tutorial for the official Sword Art Online launch. Good luck, players." And with those last words uttered, he dissipated into thin air, vanishing with red smoke... The sky cleared of the red warnings and now everything looked normal... However nobody said anything yet. They all just stood there...

After hearing this everyone freaks out and tried to run. Seth looked at the two girls. "Follow me!" He yelled running out of the main city and into the field filled with wild boars. He breathed heavily for a few minutes. "Look, you two leave here and find a good leveling spot..." He said in a cold voice. He turned away from the girls. "I'll see you two around..." He started to walk away. "Good luck."

Rose would have liked to say that she was one of the first ones to recover from the shock of the announcement. She would have liked to say that she reacted calmly, sensibly, and intelligently. She would have also liked to never have picked up the game. Ever. Unfortunately, she stood there for a good two minutes before realizing she should probably do something... And so she ran, looking for a quiet place where she could sort out her thoughts. It was more of an instinct than a decision, really, and by the time she had found that spot she was back to somewhat clear thinking.

"I'm trapped..."

Upon hearing the announcement the first thing he could think about was not his own life but...

Emmie...

What's she going to do now?

Who'll look after her?

How'll she get home from school?

What'll her reaction be?

Who'll be there for her?

Doesn't she need me?

How's she going to handle this?

She's just a little girl...

without her parents...

with a family who finds her a burden.

Shaken up, not sure of what else there is to do, he runs. He used to do this years ago when he was upset. Like the time he heard his dog died. He loved that dog dearly. Little Beauty was her name and she was one of the best dogs a guy could ask for and one day an irritated neighbor shot her down. When his parents sat him down to tell him the awful news, he didn't know what to do or even how to react...so he just got up and ran. Ran out the house- out the yard - down the street - just ran and ran until his legs and lungs gave out. Until his heart was pounding vigorously, and his legs were hot and pulsing and his throat was dry and begging for air.

And even now, so many years later, Emory was doing that again. That same childish running...as if he could run away from his problems. He was an active man and had much more stamina now so he was able to run through the town of beginnings and blindly into the open fields where the boars roamed. He ran until his vision blurred with the sting of tears, and blindly he crashed into a person...a younger girl - one with silvery hair.

Seth kept walking. He was alone, like always... No one to be there for him at all. One tear fell down his face. "People around here have families to go home to...I have no one..." He said to himself as he walked around the field killing boars. "Let's see what I got." He checked his level menu. Level 5. Damn~ he thought to himself. He walked passed Rose again. Even though he didn't speak to her. He knew her name from her health bar. He walked over. "Rose isn't it?" He smiled softly.

Shidori merely blinked.

What the Fu** is that about? She thought as he walked away. She paid no mind to the other girl who was with her, especially when some guy ran into her, knocking her over.

"Oww...." She said simply as she as she rubbed her arm where he hit. Even though this was a game, she still of course could feel pain. It was a Virtual Reality. Turns out in his attempt to keep running, he had fallen over too.

As she turned to see if he was okay, she noticed that he was crying, as tears fell from his eyes. Instead of staying quiet and acting like some mute girl, she decided to actually see if he was okay.

"Are... You alright?" She asked hesitantly. She found it odd that the other girl was here, when she didn't even know who she was to begin with. Why did Seth drag the girl with her? It just made this awkward...

I bet it's the force of the game... She thought, although the whole 'Being trapped' scenario hadn't bothered her in the slightest.

(Mercedes much... xD )

"You're welcome." He replied politely. "Well I best be going now..." He turned and swiped his hand down. "Here." He sent Rose a Friend Request. "Just message me if you need anything." He said softly and walked away from her. He walked passed everyone else and towards the next town. "Ill be seeing you!" he called back to her. "Some day.." he said to himself. ~Survive Rose~ (I have to log off now so ill be on tomorrow Im not sure when but ill be back ^^)

Lucian held the rusty blade in front of his confused, and annoyed eyes. He couldn't believe it, he waits in line for 24 hours for a stupid virtual reality game, gets the second last copy and now he is stuck in the game, come on!

Thoughts filled his brain, how does his mother feel about all this, or his entire family for that matter. What about school, I mean he didn't have any friends, but what about the homework? He wandered about around the town, looking at other people who seemed to be getting a hold of their senses. He actually heard laughter, people were actually having fun. He pulled out his weapon, it was probably the weakest thing in the game, but it was a weapon none the less.

He went to the outskirts of town where he heard was a good place to grind for beginners. As he walked around for about five minutes he had finally came across a herd of enemies, 3 boars. As they caught sight of him he got into a defensive stance, gulped, and awaited the beast's attack. As the first pounced om him he swayed to the left, tripping slightly but dodging the attack. He sort of got down on how they moved, so when the second attacked he countered it with a thorough stab. The boar jumped back and only half of it's health was taken. Above the beast was it's level, Lucian squinted his eyes and the number 3 vaguely appeared in vision. He looked at his own level by quickly checking the menu, but also keeping a close eye on the enemies. On the screen it read level one, of course, how could he be so blunt. The damaged boar grew impatient and charged Lucian once again, make an ominous screeching noise. Their movement was now predicable and he was able to finish the boar off with one last strike. Lucian straightened his back and stretched out, relief filled his restless body. He checked out the other boars who seemed to have lost interest in him. He took the time to look at the menu to see if he levelled up. His eyes raced across the screen and it read: Level 1, experience to go, 67. Lucian looked at the screen, as unamusement filled his eyes. "You gotta be kidding me..." he said in agony as he held his head out of stress.

"What's she going to do without me...?" He asked desperately, tears streaming down his face as he forced himself to sit up; his long dark hair drooping down in front of his face and he had to pull it back behind his ears...had to man up, but all he could do was think of Emmie.

"She's the only person I have and I can't take care of her if I'm in this stupid game!" His fists balled together, and his nails dug at his own palms, blood beginning to seep out. "She's only 10 years old...so young, she doesn't deserve this punishment! I was going to make it all better for her too..." he began to bawl. He didn't care that he was saying all this in front of a stranger. He was so confused on what to do. This was stupid. This was a sick joke. There was no way this was happening. No way in hell!

"Umm... There.. There..." She said awkwardly as she pat his back twice.

"Think of it this way, at least it's you who is stuck here and not her..." She said, trying to reassure the strange long-haired man... Long sentences were more appropriate for such a scenario, so Shidori had to tough it out and actually speak for once.

"I mean, if she was in the game and only 10 years old... You might not have seen her again..." She tried explaining, though the fact that he still might not see her again probably was implied somewhere anyway.

"If you beat the game however and get out, surely you can take care of her then." She said, logically going through what should be blatantly obvious.

Shidori actually didn't have anyone in the real world besides her parents. All they ever did was pay for medical expenses and work, hardly ever spending time with her... This escape from reality is just what she needed, however she could never possibly understand what this guy on the ground was going through. However, it was still a tragic sight all the same...

Izual looked around at the fear driven and sobbing crowd. He wanted to break down and sob aswell, but not because of the result of joining this game, but because he couldn't quite shut them all up at this moment. Even with his meds still quite functional his conscience was knocking at the back of his skull 'THEY JUST WON'T SHUT UP!! WAA WAA JUST STEP YOUR BASIC CRAPPY WEAPON DOWN THEIR WEEPING VOID (mouth)' as the rant finished he shook his head nearly throwing his glasses off. "I can't do that here!" he whispered as he was about to tear his knife at the whining long haired man and the cheery lady. 'You don't actually believe they would die in real life, and so what? The police can't prooove it! Just invite some people to a party and PaRty HARD!' he was now skipping whailing his arms in the air to avoid taking out his dagger, and even if he did, he read the guide he knew he couldn't kill people in a safe-zone. He rudely bashed through the 2 conversing and egging each other on with motivational speech and problems (BEX and Raviael) mumbling as low as possible to the point where a human would only hear gibberish "won't you just shut up already.".

Kri just stood there, dumbfounded. She looked around. Most of these people are beta testers. She had just started the game, and didn't have a decent weapon yet. I'm not a fighter! What if someone tries to rob me? She took a shaky breath. "I have to go hunt, to get my experience up. Standing here isn't helping anything." She whispered. She felt a tear roll down her cheek. She had family, a sister. I have to stay alive for her!
