The Suspicious Eye

Your Darling Devil
latest
AtlasIt was snowing heavily in the early morning when the airship approached the Atlas port. As your airship touched down in the harbor and opened it's bay doors, you could see why Atlas earned those titles. A massive grey wall wrapped around the whole kingdom, with soldiers patrolling the wall solemnly. the harbor was in a state of constant production. Maintenance crews toiled away to clear the landing pads of the fresh snow from only minutes ago; landing crew guided arriving and departing ships, while recording cargo and whatnot; and the sound of repair crews working on airships echoed through a passage that appeared to go under the Port.

After gaining access to the city via the main gate, the kingdom itself was surprisingly similar to Vale in it's format. Civilian housing was located around the government and industrial buildings, it's academy, Simply named Atlas Academy, was situated above and away from it all. Above it all sat the CCTV tower and military force. However, that was where the similarities end. The environment was formal and uniform, with most buildings being dark and minimalistic. Schnee Dust technology dominated the landscape, from street lights to weird stones that floated above the kingdom itself. And while it is a military government, the sheer amount of soldiers was excessive, like it was less of a kingdom and more of a base camp for the military. Provided by The Prophet The Prophet

Returning to Atlas for some would be welcome homecoming, however for those of the Schnee family their homecoming was a bitter one. A message has been sent to every Schnee across Remnant with the heavy news. Jaques Schnee has passed away and his will was to be read in a few days. All the Schnee were to gather in Atlas, no questions, no negotiations, simply obedience. This family reunion would be colder than the others.

Grey Rook SchneeThe ride to the cold northern hemisphere where Atlas resided was no where near the frigid air inside the airship. The Schnee relatives resided stoically in their respective areas, very little cheer surrounded the group as sons and daughters holding any semblance of the Schnee name headed to the main home of the Schnee family. Grey sat in the captain quarters in a large armchair looking out the vast window at the cloudy sky around them. From the shadows a woman with long slender legs and dark black hair walks over to his side. Lowering her head in a soft bow she extended a cup of coffee to him. "Coffee for you, sir."

Grey didn't look over at her as he reached out and took the cup into his hands. "Thank you, Eris." Feeling the warmth against his skin he couldn't help but feel a bit uneasy at the whole situation. Waiting for the cup to cool he looked out the window, the woman still standing at attention by his side. Feeling the warmth weaken Grey lifted the cup to his lips and took a sip of it. It was good, Eris's signature cup of coffee, harsh and strong with a soft hint of chocolate and cinnamon added in. It suited her, and was one of Grey's favorite drinks he's had. Lowering the cup into his hands he spoke.

"This is far too early."

Cirrus Jay Schnee and Sage Auburn"Cirrus! Mr Auburn!" A sharp voice split the air like a blade. "How many grams of B grade powdered water dust are required to create stable ice dust with 60 grams of A grade wind dust?" Fumbling with the calculator app on his scroll Cirrus was keying in the correct ratios when Sage tentatively spoke up next to him. "97 grams?" Pausing in the middle of her pacing Winter levelled her steely gaze at the faunus. "Correct."

Slumping in relief Sage leaned back in his seat, it was certainly more comfortable than the benches in their actual classes but then again even when pulling people out of the outskirts of a city all but overrun by Grimm the Schnee's still travelled in style. Despite the opulence the private aircraft possessed both Cirrus and Sage had spent most of the trip in their own room once it became apparent that most of the people onboard shared similarly poor opinions of their relationship leaving them at the mercy of Winter's private tutoring. As far as she was concerned having their school overrun by Grimm was 'no excuse to neglect their studies', still she wasn't going to run them into the ground and the two boys seemed to be flagging. "That's enough for now, I have to go file a report. We will continue this later." While she didn't smile her expression and tone were light. "Y-yes ma'am!" Sage squeaked while Cirrus smiled brightly. "Alright, see you later mother!"

Once Winter was gone Cirrus sat back and turned to his boyfriend. "You know there's no need to be so jumpy around mother, she's not that scary, well she is but only when she wants to be." Sage reached up and rubbed at one of his still regrowing antlers, it had been a habit he had picked up since the incident when he was feeling self-conscious and he had been doing it a lot more once Cirrus' relatives had made their views about him clear. "I know, she's been nicer than I expected especially considering...us." He lowered his hand and sighed. "Maybe it's just that I can still feel the hostility from the others." He said with a touch of dark humour. "Still at least Orion and Grey are on our side right?" Cirrus' smile turned a little shaky and he replied a little too quickly. "Yeah sure they are!" Sage's brow furrowed at his tone and reached over to take his hand. "Cirrus, please talk to me, what is it?" Looking down at his hand Cirrus slowly raised his gaze to meet Sage's eyes. "I'm sorry it's just that I don't really know if Orion has forgiven me for hiding I-Io's condition from him." He stumbled slightly over the mention of his former teammate. "As for Grey I haven't had the chance to talk to him about us yet. Still I'm sure neither of them have a problem with you."

Sage winced at the mention of the insane student but smiled a little when Cirrus squeezed his hand comfortingly. "I think you should go talk to them, especially Orion. I know your family means a lot to you, well your close family and I get the feeling things will be tense once we arrive so it would be good to sort things out with him soon right?" Staring off out the window Cirrus idly rubbed the back of Sage's hand while he thought it over. "Yeah you're right, I guess I was hoping he'd come talk to me first...or maybe I'm just scared of what he'll say." After hesitating for a moment longer he stood up. "Alright I'll go see if Orion is ready to talk, are you coming?" Sage shook his head quickly at the idea of enduring all the stares. "No I'll stay here, this is just between the two of you." Stretching up he gave him a quick kiss. "Just be honest with him, I'll see you soon."

Walking the short distance to Orion's room Cirrus nodded silently to those he passed but otherwise ignored them, standing outside his cousin's door he hesitated a moment before knocking. "Orion? It's me, I just want to talk."

Staring out the window of his airship's quarters, Orion watched the land beneath flow past like the endless streams and rivers of water dotted around the kingdoms. He turned to the holographic call on his scroll, which was thrown haphazardly on his bed. The screen showed a "Sound Only" background as a voice flowed out, distorted by a bad signal reception. Taking a drag from the lit cigarette in his hand, Orion breathed out a puff of smoke, watching it swirl into the sky. "And for the last time, I'm going to Atlas and back home. I'm already on a ship back anyway. Just meet me there." he replied to the speaker on the other side of the scroll.

"Fine..." a whiny voice drawled out from the scroll. "I'll meet you back in Atlas at the usual spot. You owe me anyway." Hearing the long, drawn out sound of a hung up call, Orion turned from the window and back to his bed. Shutting off his scroll, he took a deep sigh of frustration, before exhaling slowly. Turning back to the window, he heard a knock at the door. "Come in..." was his response. Opening the door was an older woman in her mid to late twenties. Blond hair flowed past her shoulders, and a braid went past her waist, two lion ears could be seen poking out. A pair of glasses covered her green eyes. She was wearing some sort of maid outfit, a pin of Orion's personal emblem on the collar. This was Aurelia Lions, one of Orion's personal butlers/maids/assistants.

"Orion, I'm glad to see you in good health. I've brought you the tea you requested." Indeed, balanced impeccably in her hand was a tray of tea. Placing it on the table near the foot of the bed, she took a seat at the table, and poured two cups. "Come sit down. We have much to catch up on." Orion took a seat at the table, facing the woman and sipping the tea. Once he sat, he just started talking. Aurelia listened without a word, just listening as he spilled out his heart. Hearing another knock at the door, Orion watched as Aurelia went to open it with his permission.

Staring at the figure in the doorway, Orion steeled his heart. "Cirrus... yeah... we can talk. Come in."

Cirrus Jay SchneeWhen the door opened Cirrus did a double take at the woman in front of him. "Aurelia good to see you, it's been some time." Looking between her and Orion he shifted his feet nervously. "Would you mind giving us a minute please?" Once she was gone Cirrus perched awkwardly on the edge of a chair across from his cousin. "Orion...I...we haven't really talked since what happened and I don't want it to keep coming between us, especially now." Hanging his head he looked out the window a moment before he continued. "Io only told me about the two of you a short time before everything went wrong and she had been stable for months at the time. I didn't tell you then because I thought...or maybe just hoped she was better."

"All the teachers, my team and me agreed to cover it up when I found her trying to hide three severed heads in her bathroom and it turned out Grey had known all along, I didn't want to break up my team and when I heard about the two of you I didn't want to be the one to ruin it especially since she seemed to be in control." He abruptly buried his head in his hands. "And then it all went to shit. All those people dead and she almost killed Sage, I'm surprised he doesn't blame me like you do." Raising his gaze he met Orion's eyes. "I'm so sorry for what happened, I just want us to be family again Orion."

Orion could only listen to Cirrus, could only listen and not respond. He knew Io had some weird habits, but to the extent at which he was revealing, he just didn't know how to respond. "Cirrus..." Orion spoke up, his voice a whisper. "When people look at our family, no, when people look at us, they see remnants of a great generation. They do no see us... they see our parents. We are not them. We're still growing, still learning, and although some of us, more than others, are broken, we try our best to remain right." Standing, Orion went back to his post by the window.

"Io... is an sensitive topic, even for me. I don't blame you for the events that happened anymore. What I do blame you for is keeping secrets. I have my own fair share, and I get it... it's who we are..."
Sighing into his palm, Orion tried to hide his tears. "When I first met short stack... I saw a girl crying out to the world. I saw a girl crying for help, trying not to drown. I tried to answer that plea, and for all intents and purposes, I did, and I failed. I brought her out of her own despair, but I... I couldn't keep her out. I left her when she needed me... when she needed me the most..." Just like Robyn, just like Azure, went unsaid.

"CIrrus.... our family may be broken, our lives cracking and shattering, but we are family. We will never not be family. We are Schnees, do not forget that." Walking past his cousin, Orion put a hand on his shoulder, before making his way out of his room.

As the clouds opened up under the piercing kinds of the airship's shape the city of Atlas could be seen through the Misty air. The glistening city lights of Atlas twinkled in against the dusk sky slipping over the cold mountains of the north. The intercom of the airship began to crackle and a calm melodic voice could be heard. "Good evening ladies and gentlemen, I'm pleased to announce that we will be arriving at the Schnee estate in approximately fifteen minutes. Please be ready to disembark. There will be no need to gather your luggage as it would be out honor to carry it to your rooms. I hope you enjoyed your time and we wish you all a pleasant evening." There was one final crackle before the voice quieted.

"Ugh what a absolute nuisance! Clarence inform the clearly incompetent staff to fix that screech on the intercom. It's far too harsh to hear at any time." Letting out a huff a small girl in vibrant neon clothing and a strange almost jellifish creature resting on her head. Glancing over into the open door she stared at Cirrus and Orion. Stopping for a moment she wrinkled up her nose and gave the duo a deathly glare before sticking her younger out and storming off. A moment later a tall man in all black noticed the two and gave a bow. "My apologies." Giving a soft apologetic smile before turning and following his charge.

"Out of my way you!!"

"Oh? Sorry little Aquarium, I didn't see you down there." A calmer voice said with a faint chuckle.

"I'm not a Aquarium and I am not SHORT! Hmph!" The girl yelled before the sound of her heavy boots stomped off.

"Alright then, see you soon." Passing by was a tall lanky man with snow white hair. Taking a glance at the open door he noticed the two Schnee. "Ah, Cirrus, Orion, how's it going guys? Oh you guys probably don't remember me. It's ok most people forget who I am. Guess it comes with the territory huh?" Giving a calm chuckle he shrugged, "anyway it's been a nice flight hasn't it? But I'll let you two get yourself settled. See you on the ground." Giving a slow wave he sauntered off into the distance.

Then from down the hall came a loud screeching of tires and a yell. "I told you I don't need any help! Piss off you staller or I'm jumping!" Wheeling past the door was a blonde blur of hair as she called out to the duo "Hey nerds! See you on the ground!" Then there was a loud chunk And the ship shook as a guest of wind exploded into the cabin. A steward came rushing over almost in tears and cried out as he saw the open door.

"Oh my God she jumped!!"

Walking slowly past the door a lanky boy with grey skin and blue hair was chewing on a lollipop. A explosion of candy wrappers exploded from him as the air hit him. "Whu uuu suuuuusss." Passing the door there was a loud clunck along with another scream. The steward felt faint and was about to fall to the ground when he was caught by a dazzling young man.

"Careful now. We wouldn't want you to be hurt." A smooth and gentle voice said, With just a voice you were able to almost feel his smile.

"Thank you sir, oh and lady you're as beautiful as ever."

The man gave a deep charming laugh. "No need for thanks and I'm certain she appreciates it. Now if you'll excuse us." Two sets of footsteps passed by as a tall boy with white hair and a girl with amber rose hair. The girl noticed the door and looked at the duo with glossy eyes and stopped. The boy noticed and looked in, his charming smile faded to a deep and evil scowl before he leaned over and whispered into the girls ear. Then the two began to walk.

With all those events occurring the airship was four minutes until they landed.

Cirrus Jay Schnee and Sage Auburn
Sitting alone where Orion had left him for a few minutes Cirrus considered how the conversation had gone. Well it could have been worse. It hadn't been the forgiveness he had hoped for but it was just about what he had expected, placing his hand over where Orion touched his shoulder he stayed where he was for a another moment before getting up to leave.

Making his way back through the ship he passed a few people on the way refusing to raise his gaze from the floor until he was back in his room. "Hey Sage." He met the faunus' eyes with a sad smile.

Sage looked out the window trying to enjoy the view in order to distract himself. He was glad to be with Cirrus but he still worried about both his team and family. Hearing his name being called by the familiar voice of Cirrus, Sage turned around with a smile to see him back so soon. His smile faltered once he noticed the smile he offered to him. "What happened?" he asked walking over to him. Sage took a hold on his arms as he continued, "You look like you have seen a ghost, Cirrus. Is everything alright?"

Cirrus raised his eyebrows in momentary surprise then chuckled bitterly at Sage's concern. "Do I really look that bad?" He sighed heavily. "I talked with Orion like you said and...I don't we're okay yet, we will be someday I think but not right now."

Stepping further into the room he sat down on the end of his bed and stared dully at the floor. "I hurt him by hiding what was happening to Io, I hurt everyone...even you."

"Skyler told me it was my uncle's orders for you to not tell anyone. If you think it was your fault, then my uncle hold more blame than you do," Sage reassured him, walking over to him. Taking a seat beside him at a good distance to give him some room. With a deep sigh, Sage continued, "You didn't hurt me, Cirrus. I-Iola did. It wasn't your place to tell anyone about her, it was her's to do so. Don't beat yourself up for something that was out of your control."

Sage pause for a moment. Taking one of Cirrus' hands, he held onto it tightly. "In the end, you were the one that saved me... I could have died if you didn't. You know the worse part of it all? If Skyler and Saffron didn't decide to go out to the city that day, she would have killed them as well, and I am grateful that they didn't come to the party."

Feeling the weight settle on the bed Cirrus looked over at Sage. The faunus spoke the same justification he had given Orion, that he had just been doing what he had been told and that it was her secret to share or keep. "That's pretty much what I told him, still he's right that I should have told him when they got together. Instead of stepping up and trusting that he could handle it I gambled that nothing would go wrong and lost." As Sage took his hand he smiled slightly for a moment automatically.

"What would you have done?" Cirrus asked after a minute of silence. "If you knew about someone like that and Skyler or Saffron became close to them?"

Sage looked at Cirrus, a bit knocked off his train of thought at the sudden scenario he was giving him. He knows he has been bad at keeping things from Skyler, but then again she was always able to read people. Taking a moment to think over his answer, Sage let out a sigh, "My family has always been a secretive one, but like my mother, it is had for me to keep it in. I would have kept it to myself as much as I could, but Skyler would have noticed something was eating at me and force it out of me. As for Saffron, he might not have noticed so I might have been able to get away with it. But that was only if I was in your place Cirrus.

"I would have told my team anything that would help me keep the secret. You and Orion are family but not a team. You had a duty to both warm him but also trust your teammate to tell him that," he paused for a moment, "Cirrus, as much as you run through what happened in the past to justify why you did what you did, it's not going to make you feel better or fix the past. Orion also needs to understand your position in the matter. Your hands were tied, and that's why I can't blame you or allow you to blame yourself for what happened."

The way Sage answered his question surprised Cirrus, in some ways the way the faunus talked about Skyler reminded Cirrus of him and Grey, both could read them like a book though Skyler seemed a lot less distant and a lot more protective than his brother.

Sighing he ran his free hand through his hair. "I know I can't stay stewing over it forever but talking it over with Orion got me thinking about it again. He blames me for hiding Io's problem from him I understand and I-I can accept that but even he said what happened wasn't my fault. I still feel like I could have done more and I'm okay with that, right now I'm just glad it hasn't changed the way you feel about me." With an echo of his usual sunny demeanour returning he shuffled closer to Sage until their shoulders were touching.

Seeing Cirrus return to his normal self, if only for a bit, brought a smile on Sage's face. It only broadened as their shoulders touched. Leaning over to kiss his cheek, he allowed it to linger a before pulling away and telling him, "Nope, my feelings towards you are still the same. Maybe a bit more than before but they are still there." Taking Cirrus' hand he reassured him, "Everything will turn out alright with Orion. He just... just need time."

Smiling brightly at the reassurance Cirrus put an arm around Sage. "What did I do to deserve you?" He said as he held the smaller teen close. "I just wish I could do more to help Orion now. I'm lucky enough to have you with me but he's alone."

Sage couldn't help let out a small laugh slip through his lips at Cirrus' change in mood. Hugging him back, Sage answered, "Everything you do is deserving of me, I'm just glad to be here for you as much as you are for me." Sage didn't let go of Cirrus as he thought about what they could do to help Orion. He hadn't really interacted with him, but he also wants to help in any way that he can. "I think the only thing there is to do is give him room and maybe in time, he will open up."

Unable to keep from grinning upon hearing Sage's soft laugh and feeling him return the embrace Cirrus gave him a long kiss. "I love you." He said when he finally pulled away and sobered a little as the conversation steered back to Orion. "I guess there isn't anything else I can do for him for now." Lying back on the bed he gently pulled Sage down with him. "We just have to wait until we get to-" He broke off and sat up at the sound of a sharp rap on the door. "Sounds like mother is back."

Going to the door he opened it revealing that it was indeed Winter waiting there. "Cirrus, Mr Auburn I'm told we'll be arriving soon. Make sure you have your things together before we land." Smiling in anticipation Cirrus nodded. "Yes mother!" With a small smile and her own short nod of approval she left. "Alright best get ready, remember not to underestimate the cold." He said while bustling off to grab an extra layer.

Sage was taken aback by the sudden kiss, but once the shock left, he returned the kiss. "I love you, too." Try as he might, Sage couldn't remove the grand grin on his face. He allowed Cirrus pull him down on the bed beside him as he listened to him. When the knocking on the door happened, Sage popped his head up to look at the door. Sage was so used to having someone coming in after there knock, thanks to his mother, but when the door didn't open he was left to watch Cirrus get up to open it himself.

Like Cirrus had guessed, his mother was at the door. Sage nodded to her announcement before thanking her for the warning. He pulled out his scroll, making quick movements of his fingers, sending a message to his parents that he was arriving soon at Atlas. Done with his message, he turned to Cirrus and asked, "How many extra layers would you recommend someone that had lived in warm temperatures for almost there entire life? I don't even think I have the layers appropriate to this weather now that I think about it."

Quickly packing up what little he had brought with him from Vale Cirrus stepped over to the wardrobe. "I'd say three should be enough to get by and still be able to move in a pinch, grab a scarf and...oh right." Naturally there hadn't been time to gather luggage while escaping Beacon and after that they'd just had what they could scrounge up while at the shelter, while the airship had been stocked with spare clothing in his size the same couldn't be said for Sage.

"Sorry." He mumbled hanging his head for a moment before getting back to rooting around. "Umm let me have a look, I suppose it shouldn't be much colder than wintertime in Vale since it's summer...here we go!" Turning back to Sage he revealed a sky blue scarf with the Schnee emblem branded on the ends and a darker blue coat that hung down just past his waist. "Give these a try, they should keep the wind out that's what will really chill you. It'll be a bit big on you but you can fold the sleeves in on themselves so they're out of the way. It should do for now obviously we can get proper gear for you later."

"You don't have to apologize, Cirrus,"
Sage beamed over to him, "We just forgot, that's all." Sage sat as he watched Cirrus looking for something that would do better than the hoody he had on. When he did, Sage walked over to him to take the scarf and coat. The color of the two reminded him of his family. Due to his father's attachment to dark shades of blue and his aunt join for the lighter shades on top of the Sharp family color, having the two blue articles of clothing, brought a sad smile on his face but quickly turned it to a genuine one and thanks Cirrus.

Taking the thin hoody off, Sage slipped into the coat, which was big on him, but not by much. The sleeves of the coat went past his hands, but rolling it up as Cirrus had commented, Sage was able to free his hands. Putting the scarf properly, he turned to Cirrus and asked, "What do you think? Is it obvious I forgot to pack warm clothes?" Sage couldn't help laugh at his joking comment, trying to lighten the mood a bit.

Chuckling along with Sage Cirrus gently adjusted the scarf so that the ends were the same length, the coat hung a fair bit lower on his shorter frame but otherwise it fit fairly well. "Nah you look great as usual. Certainly better than the time I tried on my dad's cloak once, I was so little then I could have wrapped myself up in it."

Going back to the wardrobe he dug out a white turtlenecked top and undid his shirt before swapping the two over hurriedly while also keeping his left arm out of Sage's view as much as possible, hoping that he hadn't messed up his hair to badly in his haste he combed his fingers through it while he grabbed a jacket of similar cut to the one he had worn in Vale though this one was significantly thicker. Picking up two pairs of gloves he sat back down next to Sage. "There we go, perfect."

Cirrus Jay Schnee
Heading to the exit Cirrus put his arm protectively around Sage as his various relatives bustled past, most with varying degrees of hostility though he nodded politely to Clarence and waved to the forgettable man and the rose-haired girl before the scowling guy moved her along. Forcing a smile he braced against the wind from the open door. "Well at least they aren't boring right?" He said with false cheer, he only half-recognised them but evidently the time since he had last seen them had done little to improve the attitudes of those that actively disliked him and Orion.

Releasing Sage he went to the open door and leaned out into the wind. Basking in the familiar chilly air he looked over the city below, they were circling over the sprawling Schnee estate's clustered buildings and high fences that had always seemed a little oppressive to Cirrus when compared to Patch when he had been a child. "Cirrus! Get back inside and seal that door!" Hearing a sharp voice cutting easily through the rushing wind he quickly grabbed the door and pulled it shut. "Sorry mother I was-" Winter cut him off with a raised hand. "Enough, this is a serious occasion and I expect you to conduct yourself appropriately no matter how far others present may lower themselves." She glanced pointedly in the direction the others had gone then in the direction of the quarters Grey had claimed for himself. "I expect your brother will be making his appearance soon."

Grey Rook Schnee and Eris Russet
The airship landed with ease even with the unforeseen turbulence from some of the other Schnee relatives. The intercom crackled again as a clam voice said, "welcome to the Schnee estate. We hope your stay is a pleasant one given such troubling circumstances." As the intercom stopped, the door to Grey's quarters opened and his assistant, a tall woman with navy hair, opened it up. Looking over she noticed Winter and Cirrus, although she was the personal assistant to Grey she rarely saw the rest of the family. Her job was one that relied on handling the intelligence division that Grey owned, she only saw the rest of the Schnee family maybe once or twice a year. Taken a bit back, she was surprised to see them she stepped out into the hallway and gave the two a deep bow.

"Mrs. Winter, Mr. Cirrus. It's a pleasure to see you two again." She said in her usual monotone voice.

"There's no need for something like that, Eris." Grey said stepping out of the open door. With his words Eris straightened up and looked forward with a distant look, yet her eyes were sharp as a blade. Grey walked past her and stopped near Winter giving a glance at Cirrus he noticed Sage and Orion in the room. His eyes narrowed, but he kept his disgust to himself. He turned to his mother, "Good evening. Will you be need accompaniment off the ship?" Eris glanced over at Grey as he asked to accompany his mother, her look unblinking as she prepared to start walking behind them.

"FINALLY! UGH! Let's go Clarence! The sooner we get this reading over with the sooner I can leave! Seriously like I care about being part Schnee. I have no idea why I was called here. I'm already rich. Hmph!" The young girl with a jellyfish hat said with disdain as she passed by the group, completely ignoring them as she walked off the ship and towards the mansion estate. The tall man who followed behind the girl nodded worriedly at her words but his face paled as he noticed the group. He hesitated wondering if he could apologize but as he watched his charge walk off he rushed to follow her.The blonde girl and the white haired man walked past the group as well and out the doors towards the estate without a word. Neither of them glanced over in the groups direction, so it was possible that neither of them even noticed them standing there.

For the most part, the Schnee Family Home's interior is white with blue and gray accents and frequent use of columns and arches in the architecture. Most rooms and hallways have white or pale blue walls, a gray ceiling, and a white reflective tile floor. Decorating one long hallway are nature paintings that exclusively use white, gray, and pale blue colors. Running the length of each hallway is a long blue rug with white floral designs, and along the walls are occasional black armchairs and glass coffee tables with metal frames.

Lining the walls of every room and hallway are black sconces with pale blue teardrop beads hanging from them, topped with white candles. Across the ceiling of each hallway is a series of chandeliers, each made up of a metal ring with an upside-down semi-transparent dome on the bottom, blue teardrop beads hanging from it, and candles around the edge of the ring surrounding a white cylinder in the center. When lit, the candles on the sconces and chandeliers emit a white-blue flame.

The hallway that runs alongside the piano room has the entrance to Jacques' study and bears a portrait of the Schnee family. The portrait appears to have been made when Weiss, Winter and Whitley were children. Above the door to Jacques' study is a crest-like design consisting of curving, leafy lines around an eight-pointed starburst shape. The dining room features black chairs gathered around a table covered in a large white table cloth. The chairs are upholstered with blue fabric decorated in a repeated pattern of the symbol above the door to Jacques' study. In the middle of the table is a large glass vase filled with white lily flowers and foliage. On one side of the room is a wall made up of several open archways, with a second-floor walkway overlooking the dining area. The upper walkway's arches have sheer curtains hanging in them, and visible through these curtains is another room that has a crystal chandelier hanging from its ceiling.

On the first floor of the Schnee home is a two story library. Bookshelves set into alcoves line the walls of the room on both levels, and the center of the first floor is set with multiple lounges, chairs and low tables. A large rug covers the ground, and a multi-tiered chandelier hangs in the center of the room. There are a few pillars holding up the walkway for the second story with wall candles on each and more in each corner of the room on both floors. A large staircase curves from the upper floor to the center of the ground floor.

The courtyard outside of the home is surrounded by archways, with a large fountain at the end. The fountain has the Schnee emblem on it with wings around it. It has two gardens with small hedges with the stone ground having flower symbols engraved in them. The view from this location shows the manor to be at least three stories tall, possibly more.

Walking away from Cirrus, Orion just caught him leaving to go back to his own room, most likely to check on Sage. Letting out a small smile, Orion continued on until he made his way to the outside deck of the airship. Ahead, beneath the clouds and the sky, Orion could faintly make out the bullhead docking port. Shivering in the cold air, Orion almost burst out laughing. The cold was bothering him, something he never thought would happen.

Feeling the wind blow his hair, Orion leaned onto the railing and stared ahead. His thoughts kept returning to what he told Cirrus, how they are a family, how their bonds are stronger than anything. Now, as he sat here contemplating his choices, Orion couldn’t help but regret saying what he did. He didn’t know if staying in Atlas was going to do him well, or staying anywhere. “What would you do…?” he asked the wind.

Not expecting a response, Orion turned to go back inside, preparing to land. Walking past a shorter figure, Orion had to do a double take to make sure she was real. Reaching out a hand, Orion touched her cheek, then her shoulder, before pulling her into a hug. Letting out a silent sob as tears ran down his cheeks, Orion cried into Azure’s hair.

Azure, struggling in his grip tried to break free, but ultimately couldn’t. “When did you get emotional and cry?” she asked in her usual, monotonous voice, but Orion could sense the veiled joy.

Orion released the hug and took in his sister. Her clothing changed, from her usual black combat dress, to her now white leather jacket, jeans, and combat boots. “Since I’ve learned to love again.” was his response, while chuckling, and wiping the tears away. “It’s good to see you again.” Motioning to go inside, Orion started to walk in, but paused before continuing.

“What?” Azure spoke up, noticing his pause.

Still walking, Orion turned to face her. “I was just wondering how you got onto the ship, but knowing you, you’ve probably either bribed, threatened, or maimed someone to do it.”

“You know me too well, brother.”

“No, I just remembered seeing a few terrified and scared attendants and staff before.” Azure remained silent as they made their back to Orion’s designated room aboard the aircraft.

Walking in, Orion through his jacket upon his bed, and then started to unbutton his shirt. It wouldn’t do well for the Schnee heir to be seen in his combat gear in a formal return home. Throwing his shirt across the room, into some corner for a maid to clean, Orion went to the closet and began dressing. Foregoing his normal clothing, Orion dressed himself in dark blue suit vest, a white shirt, light blue almost white tie, and a pair of khaki slacks. “How do I look?” he asked Azure.

“Like a spoiled, arrogant, and narcissistic Schnee. Well done.”

Chuckling at her response, Orion made his way to exit the airship. The ship would be landing soon, and if anything, Orion planned to be there to get off immediately. Seeing his mother, Orion tried to hide himself from her. Spotting her son, she made her way over to him. “It’ll be alright.” she tried to calm him. “Everything will be okay. I know it’s been tough with your sister missing and all, but she’s strong. Azure is my daughter too, you know.” she said, wrapping an arm around his shoulder.

Trying to tell his mother that Azure was right there, she was gone. “But she was…” Falling silent, Orion stared back at his room, realizing no one left with him. She was real, right? She had to be. “I came in from the deck alone, right?” he asked hurriedly.

“Yes Orion. You did? Are you okay? You’re not sick or anything right?” Escaping from his mother’s grip, Orion could only nod numbly as they landed and everyone departed. "Head to your room and rest, I'll come fetch you when we're gathering, okay?" Nodding numbly once more, Orion left to his room, his head shaking.

Miles hadn't moved much since their departure from Ironwood's presence. It wasn't because he was having a hard time finding his way around or anything, but instead largely because he was still very much surprised how quickly things had changed for him. Between a crashing ship and his ability to maintain a defense until others arrived to help, his skill was almost immediately lauded. At the same time, his damaged helmet had to be sawed off, so everyone assumed him some elder huntsman come to aid them. What a shock when the helmet revealed a naught but a young adult just out of his teenage years.

Still, he quickly paired up with one of the leading 'commanders' in the area, and from there actively worked with them to develop a quick reputation as a capable huntsman. So when that commander, a bird faunus from Atlas, was called home, it was much to the young man's shock that he was invited to come along. It seemed something had been seen in him that was worth mentoring, and he was not one to turn down great offers.

From a greenhorn huntsman to the employ of old Ironwood himself, in what felt a longer time than it had likely been.

And now to be a guard at the Schnee estate?

Honestly, he'd faced Grimm that felt like a less daunting task than to be expected to guard over one of the most prestigious families known to mankind. He'd even stated as much, but was met with reassurances from his new boss, and a unique perspective from his mentor.

'They are but squabbling children, afraid of things different than them, and as such seeing themselves as different from each other. I would wager we stop them from attacking each other more than we stop anyone from attacking them. You said you had younger siblings? They fought I am sure. Treat them in kind.'

While it surely wouldn't be that simple, the man could understand his mentors opinion especially given the gift of flight as he was. Miles was interrupted from further musings as the craft shuddered to a stop before him, and one of the other guardsmen noted that they had arrived. As Miles moved to rise he noted one of the soldiers nearby seemed like he may have been offering a hand, but the young huntsman simply shook his head and rose of his own accord. Presumptions and underestimation, no matter if given in kindness or pity, were dangerous to act upon, for recipient and giver.

Stepping out of the craft and onto the estate grounds, Miles heard someone approach. They walked in measured, almost counted steps, as if it was all choreography. Given the prompt of the Schnee's and their hire help, he was less than surprised when he found he was correct in his assumption.

"The Schnee family and estate would like to graciously thank you for you assistance, and humbly welcome you to their-"

Miles found his attention brought to the subtle sounds of wind ruffling through feathers, and the near silent impact of boots as they touched the ground near him. To have clearance to fly her under ones own power meant that this could only have been Argus, a fact quickly proven for him.

"Oh you're here as well. Very well. I suppose you're all free to find your places. Have some good taste in where you... station yourselves."

Blind as he may have been, Miles' brow furrowed and his pale eyes narrowed at the change in tone. Where before it was friendly, if not robotic, the words intoned towards the freelancer Captain. It wasn't something he personally enjoyed hearing, and while he wasn't going to rise to any bait, it was clear that this servant in particular had run ins with Argus before. This all meant little, however, as Argus brushed it off and moved forward, calling for his fellows to follow.

"Miles, I have stations for everyone save yourself." Argus spoke as he found the man walking alongside him, "I expect you to mingle with the crowds. Doff your helmet, if you would, to come across as more approachable, but maintain vigilance. I expect that if someone would be to act, they would initiate their actions nearest to you. While I have full faith in your ability, you can act as better bait than any one else here."

Miles immediately found himself on board for the plan. It was genius, and utilised what many people considered to be his greatest flaw.

"Your youth, after all, will cause many to think you inexperienced."

"My youth?!" stuttered the truthfully young, and surprised, man, as if he hadn't even factored it into the equation.

"Of course your youth, Miles." grinned Makovo, "Did you think that I was going to mention your eyes? As if being able to 'see' is a fair assessment of capability. Take our 'gracious' host moments ago. A good pair of eyes his whole life, but still can't see past the limits of his preconceptions and biases. No, you are the youngest one of our group, and an unknown, but I've witnessed you fight, and if there's anyone here I trust to safeguard the masses most, I'd wager that falls to the man that destroyed his own aura reserves to break the impact of a crashing ship, and then continued to fight regardless."

Gracious praise to be sure, it would have filled Miles heart with pride if it wasn't immediately followed with the comment of not wanting to 'play babysitter for the Schnee brats either'. Rolling his eyes, Miles conceded the point and set off to go join the mingling. And perhaps figure out which food smelled so good.

Perhaps Argus Makovo wasn't the most conventional mentor, but Miles counted himself lucky to have him. Besides, what could go wrong at such a simple party?

Hearing the door to Grey's quarters open both Cirrus and Winter turned to look. "Miss Russet." Winter acknowledged the greeting with a simple nod while her youngest waved with his usual smile in place. "Hey Eris! Hi Grey!" He added seeing his brother reveal himself, unsurprisingly Grey had kept himself shut away for most of the flight more surprising was his offer to escort his mother. "Good evening to you as well Grey. I would welcome an escort" Winter replied with a ghost of a smile.

Disembarking Cirrus protectively held onto Sage again and led the way inside. "So what do you think? Understated isn't it?" He said with a touch of sheepishness at the stark extravagance of the place. "I could give you the guided tour but it would take a while, plenty of high ceilings for when I was told not to fly outside. Spent quite a bit of time pretending to fight that king taijitu statue too." As they walked a powerfully built young man in armour a few years older than him caught Cirrus' attention, presuming him to be part of the security drafted in for the gathering Cirrus nodded to him politely.

Giving a nod of approval he stepped alongside his mother as they made their way off the airship and towards the entrance of the Schnee family home. Ignoring all that was behind them Grey looked over to his mother and spoke calmly. "Mother, I know much of your relationship with grandfather, but do you think there's a reason for him to have order so much of the extended family to the estate as well. It's quite strange of him, don't you think?" He said raising a curious brow as he watched the couple, who he knew as Alabaster and Emily Ariosto, enter the Schnee home. I certainly didn't expect to see them here at all. Unlike the others who were second cousins, their connection to the Schnee family is a bit more complicated and quite a bit more messy. Most members don't know their history, but Grey researched every possible blood relation and uncovered it after some hard work. The bastard son, who was destroyed by the Schnee family in many ways. Whatever they do here it will certainly be interesting.

Walking behind all the Schnee Eris watched over Grey, but took interest in the conversation between Cirrus and the faunus boy she knew as Sage Auburn. It was quite strange that all the children, both Winter's and Weiss's, have had some intimate relationship with a faunus. She wasn't sure how much she liked the idea, but knew that she should keep quiet. Fully aware that own feelings were clouding her judgement, she would wait for time to settle the matter. For Orion, it was all too easy and soon for the rest they'll all realize the right choice. Looking at the young couple she let out a sullen sigh as her eyes turned towards the security.

As they entered into the mansion she watched as one of the hired security walked off from a elder. Her eyes glistened with shark like life as she watched him pass. The other relatives were either moving around partaking in the accommodations of the house or heading to their rooms. Taking a step back she stood by the wall and waited for Grey to call her over, all the while she stood by and watched all that was going on.

The young girl with the odd jellyfish hat was standing beside her butler, who held three plates of sweets and was grabbing all that his charge pointed to. "I want three more of these and then a order of ocean tea!" She watched as he took the sweets and smiled as he grabbed the last plate. Applauding his skills she hopped up and down, "Wow Clarence! You never cease to impress! I should give you a raise! But only if you can balance a tea cup on your head while I make my way to my room!" Grabbing a teacup she placed three lumps of sugar into it and waited as he knelt down. Placing the teacup on his head she smiled before turning on her heels she walked towards her room with Clarence standing up without falling behind.

Casper was nowhere to be seen, but was most certainly somewhere. Alabaster and Emily did not stay among the party instead they made their way down the long hallways and vanished around the corner. The girl in the wheelchair spun through the walkway and spun in front of the incoming group. Screeching to a halt in front of Cirrus and Sage, her blonde locks bounced as she leaned against her armrest. "Oh hey it's the main Schnee fam and guest! I bet this is awkward for you huh? Sorry about your grandpa. Death sucks." She paused for a moment a smile on her face, before snapping back to the present. "Hey have you slow pokes seen my bro outside? Also what the hell is your brain damage brining a faunus here? I mean come on dude. You're a Schnee. Don't you want to uphold that hoity richousness you guys used to have? Or did that finally die out? I mean you do know we're being appraised right? Or have you given up because she's coming?"

Orion scarcely paid attention to what was happening around him, only vaguely hearing the conversations. He was part of the main group heading for the entrance of the Schnee Manor, but once inside, his path would diverge. He would try to find a place to sort out everything. He could still hear Azure’s voice lingering in the back of his head. Whatever was happening had to be linked to the attack on Beacon and Vale. It had to be; there was no other logical conclusion.

Walking past the girl who interrupted Cirrus and Sage, Orion had half a mind to step in. Shaking his head, he went to continue on his way, but paused thinking of a certain pink-haired rabbit faunus. She’d probably do something, maybe a few words. Stopping Orion looked over his shoulder, met eyes with Cirrus, and let out a slight chuckle. “The hate we held for faunus, that former “hoity richousness” that you call, it is exactly what is keeping us from being liked by the world, it’s what is holding us back.” Starting to walk again Orion casually flung a hand over his shoulder as a wave. “We’ll never be able to move forward if we stick to the past.” It was hypocritical coming from him, and he knew that. Moving on from the past, he was doing the exact opposite. “And for your information, Cirrus may be the more sane out of the two of us.”

Shouldering his way past family and guests, Orion finally stood in front of the door to his old room, the room he lived in before running away to attend Beacon. Opening the door, he saw the condition it was in, just how he left it. Clothes were still scattered around, papers littered the floor and were pinned to the walls. Letting a small smile pass his face, Orion closed the door behind him, and slumped against it. Clenching his fist, Orion drew Broken Requiem, and stabbed the rapier into the ground with a shout of frustration. Ice spread from the tip of the rapier and began to cover the floors, the walls, the roof, and even the furniture in a layer of ice.

Sliding down until he was seated at the base of his door, Orion put his head into his hand, and silently sobbed to himself. He curled into himself as he let himself go. Everything about this place brought back memories of a happier time, an easier time. He didn’t have to worry about Grimm invasions, school, psycho exes trying to kill him, or even when his sister was here. Everything was simpler, it was easier.

“Is that the way a team leader is supposed to act?” A voice said from the other side of his room. Looking up, Orion’s blue eyes met with a violent red. Standing there was his partner from team STAR, an old memory, a friend he did not expect to see, Robyn Branwen.

“What, how? What’s going on with me?” he said, eyes wide in shock. Robyn was gone.

“What’s going on with you?” Robyn snarked out, slowly taking a sip from a cup of tea. “You’re being a coward, running from your problems. You help others, but keep neglecting yourself. You have to stand and fight, Orion. No more running.”

Orion slowly stood against the backdrop of a frozen room. He mulled over the words of his partner, his mind running a million miles per hour. Her words struck something within him, something he didn't know he had. “You’re right… I really am a coward aren’t I. I’ve changed huh, I’ve changed more than I thought I would.”

“Indeed you have Schnee. Indeed you have.” Walking up to Orion, she punched his shoulder. “Show the world why they should fear us, why they should fear you. And if you ever see that mother of mine, punch her in the face for me.”

Blinking, Orion saw that Robyn had disappeared and in his hand was an earing with 3 robin feathers on it. Smiling, Orion replaced the earning of a cross in his right ear with the one in his hand. “Will do, partner.”

Opening his door, Orion turned and walked out. He wouldn’t interact with his family just yet. He’d continue to play the part of the insane, he had a reason to keep going after all.

Sage AuburnSage kept close to Cirrus as the airship began to circle around the grand manor that Cirrus had spoken to him about several times. The only other grand home he had ever gotten to see had been his grandfather's home and the Sharp Estate. Well, the latter would be the closes in size but then again it's hard to notice from it being mostly inside the mountain itself. As they walked, he couldn't feel at ease from being held closely by Cirrus. It was like his anchor in a new land where he is not very liked by most of the individuals that were here for the funeral. That was why they were really here for right? Sage didn't know, he was only here to support Cirrus.

He was pulled out of his thoughts when several of the relatives began to make comments and demands from a few of them. Sage was oddly taken aback from the coldness. if he had ever snapped at anyone in that manner his mother would have pulled him aside to explain why that was not right, even Skyler never raised her voice to the staff in her home. All he can access from the rest of Schnee relatives he hadn't met personally, that they were stuck up and straight out rude. Cirrus' next comment caused Sage to let out a nervous laugh and making a meek comment of, "Yeah, charming..."

Sage felt Cirrus let him go to go over to the airship doors and opened them. The cold air cut right through to his bones as he let out a shiver from the sudden invasion. Even if it was cold, he came closer to Cirrus to look out. From her, he could make out the manor much better. Even if the building was beautiful, his focus was out in the city of Atlas. Even if it was getting near to summer, the city looked cold and a bit lifeless from it's white on white color scheme. They both pulled away after Mrs. Winter snapped at Cirrus to behave himself, which caused Sage to slightly back away sheepishly. If Cirrus had to behave, so did Sage. The last thing he needed is for him to get in trouble for Sage's actions.

Soon enough the airship landed, and in came Grey and another woman right behind him. He looked between them, but upon seeing Grey's cold stare, he quickly looked away as he bowed his head. He had seen Grey in passing at school, and even then Sage could feel the cold aura he tended to have to anyone that was around him. He kept quiet as he allowed Cirrus to escort him to his home. His first impression of the manor was Cold. There was no warm feeling to welcome you in. It was rigid and stiff. Sage felt more unwelcomed here than how he felt back in the airship.

Sage tried to smile away his worry as he answered Cirrus comment on the grandness of the interior, and commented back, "Oh... Uh, yeah. It's a bit colder than my uncle's estate back in mistral... there is just a lot of white and ice blue..." He tried to bring up the mood even if he was clearly still shy about everything as he continued, "I think you would like the Sharp Estate, it's big but it very welcoming with its neutral browns, greys, and different shades of blue."

Picking up on Sage's obvious unease Cirrus stared at the floor guiltily wondering what he had been thinking by asking Sage to come with him out of sheer selfishness, for an insane moment he wondered if they could just turn around, get back on the airship and join the others or even fly them to Mistral under his own power. If the reactions of most of his relatives was anything to go by the best they could hope for would be that the others would be too busy focusing their ire on Cirrus and his close family to pay much attention to Sage though the slight sigh from the usually tightly buttoned up Eris sounded disapproving enough and he didn't think Grey was pleased Sage was there either.

Hearing Sage trying valiantly to make conversation off of his lame commentary Cirrus raised his gaze and smiled slightly. "That does sound nice." He said of the description of the Sharp estate. "Sometimes I think this place could've made me colourblind if I didn't spend so much time on Patch too with how little variety there is here."

His attempt to lighten the mood got cut off when Daffodil rolled up. She seemed to line up with what little he knew or remembered of her, nice enough or at least not actively mean but lacking a filter. "Yeah thanks. I haven't seen your brother since we got off the airship, he probably just-" Her next comment made Cirrus stiffen and tighten his hold on Sage. "Sorry...am I not living up to my grandfather's standards in who I choose to be with?" His tone was brittle and he glared at her sharply until Orion unexpectedly caught his eye and came to his defence for a moment but he left before Cirrus could call out to him. Turning his attention back to Daffodil he frowned but Orion's intervention had taken a lot of the venom out of him. "Who's this person I'm supposed to be worried about? The executor of Grandfather's will or something?"

Daffodil SchefflerAs a second cousin the Schnee name was hardly worth anything to Daffodil. For most it's just a extra invitation they are given out of politeness, never required to attend. Most cousins know this and accept it. It was a relief to them to not have to deal with all the dangerous rumors and bad reputations of the Schnee family anywhere but inside the Schnee family home. Daff and the others knew that to uphold those ideals was more for their own safety rather than the need to uphold the Schnee legacy. That's why most came alone, Alabaster being the exception. With the cousins being called over more often, it was disheartening to embrace such coldness, but every cousin hoped for a change.

Daff listened to both Orion and Cirrus stand up for their new beliefs and she felt a bit of pride for the kids. Giving them a warm smile she nodded in agreement. "Well I'm glad. Last Schnee to say that to me is a happy father of two now. Follow that path all of you." Looking over to Sage she gave him a playful wink, but there was worry in her eyes. Not one to care about who or what anyone was dating she was glad they weren't afraid of facing the family past. She saw strength in them, but she wasn't the one to convince. Hopefully what she's been hearing through the second cousins rumor mill isn't true and little Lina will do the right thing. However, knowing the new ice princess she didn't expect it to go on without a fight. I wonder if I can skew this fight in a way? Look at me thinking like a Schnee now.

Her mind wandering she almost didn't catch Cirrus's question as was a bit shocked. "The Executor? No that's not who I mean." Pausing she thought about the last time she's seen them all together, and came up with nothing. Then again, I don't think they've ever met. Her look becoming more serious she started to talk, but was soon cut off by a sudden monstrous chill in the room. "Cirrus, your uncle..."

Crystal SchneeWhile they were talking three large spears of crystal shot directly at Sage, aiming for his head, heart and groin. With a swift reaction time the attack could be countered. The attack came from the second floor beside the stairs in the entryway. There was a swirling white glyph and a poised young woman glaring down at them in disgust. Raising a hand she elegantly tossed her hair as she glided across the floor and down the stairs. "What a absolute disgrace. All of you are a disappointment to what grandfather stood for." Making her way down the stairs was the newly named princess of the Schnee family, Crystal Schnee, daughter to Whitley Schnee. With her father's condition she spent much of her time in boarding schools or under the tutelage of her mother and grandfather. Having met either of them, Crystal's personality is well reasoned, she is simply a proud product of her upbringing.

Watching as the others stepped away from her, she glared at all of the Schnee group her eyes resting on Winter. "Not that any of you care. Once you let your sister take over the company, robbing my father of his rights to his legacy, this whole organization went downhill. Running the family name through the mud with your weakness. Ones that are clearly shown through the pathetic display of your children." Glaring at all of them she tisked as her eyes rested on the faunus before shifting to the adults. "Every one of your children consorting with those who drove this once great business down. And you all don't even see it." Placing a hand on her waist she lifted her head and glared at them. "You're all such fools. You left this business full of holes, in attempts of 'making amends.' Ones which you were warned about but never listened to." She said a cold smile one that never reached her eyes. Watching her closely deep in her eyes there was a strange red symbol glittering within the blue pools. "You should listen to the only smart one in your family, Winter. I certainly did." Her eyes running across the group resting on Grey's cold eyes.

Running a playful finger across her lips she giggled, and shook her head, "you left shares to the company dwindle to your 'trusted' friends and companions. Little did you know they all work under me. You let other dust companies begin to rise taking more of your profits. Only for them to end up working for me. You even made trade deals, with such obvious flaws that they're baffling you agreed. All helping my company flourish in the end."

"The Crystalline Empire." Grey said, his body shaking with rage, his eyes blazed with a cold rage.

Nodding she added, "I wonder how long it took you to weave through my mirror room of parent organizations to figure it out. Well either way it's far too late." Tilting her head she cooed. "Do you know how close you are to losing everything? The young girl with the odd choice of headwear. Do you know her name? She is our cousin after all. It's Lina Aquis of the notorious company devourer, Aquarius. Owning the most profitable waters, it seems on their routes they found a large deposit of dust underwater. One so pure and bountiful that will eliminate the rest of this weak empire. And with her pull, her parents decided to trade with my company, all to be finalized in a matter of weeks. The Schnee Dust Company is finished." Then her cold smile softened and her vold voice hummed warmly as she extended her gloved hands out. "But don't worry, with grandfather's remaining shares I'll have enough to have the majority the company and I'll be sure to keep the family name inside my Crystalline Empire."

Giggling softly, she pulled her hands closer and rested a hand against her cheek. "You put up, something of a fight, but you've lost. Still please enjoy your stay in the family home. While you still can enjoy it, that is." Making a quarter turn on her heels she playfully walked over to one of the hired security humming as she swayed her hips. Placing a hand on Miles's arm she blushed ever so softly, "excuse me. I'd like to take a walk around the grounds before I return to my room. Would you escort me? I don't want to be wandering around unaccompanied afterall."

Orion walked down the hall, hands together behind his back as he ignored the whispering around him. From what little he could make out be they servants, distant family, or “friends” of his estranged grandfather, Orion could hear the names he was being called. Disgrace, black sheep, outcast, disappointment, all names he had heard from those who believed themselves higher than him due to names and money. Orion cared little now, realizing that the Schnee name brought more misfortune and despair upon him than good. Whatever happened at the reading of ol’ Jacques’ will, would impact the company in most likely a horrible way for the Faunus of Atlas and the world, and Orion, he did not want to be part of that.

Taking out his scroll, Orion scrolled through his contact list until he came upon a certain name, Snake. Chuckling to himself, Orion simply made a call as he brought the scroll to his ear like an old phone, using the voice-only function. Sometimes the video call function was too tedious, and this was a moment where it was. Stopping by a window, surrounded by family and servants, Orion heard the other end pick up. "Finally! Thought you would take forever to pick up. Jeez. When a guy needs something from his teammate, you'd think he'd get a quicker response." Re-positioning himself so he was looking out at the courtyard, Orion saw Cirrus and Sage still being held up by Daffodil. "What do I need? Easy. You still have connections with your old man? Yeah? Alright. So here's what I need. I need about 50 pounds of illegal ice dust sent to the Schnee Manor by tonight. Easy? Good. Oh and do install this app I sent you. It'll come in help later. Thanks man. I'll take to you later Taurus. Yeah, fuck you too Snake." Hanging up, Orion ignored everyone as he walked out into the main entrance.

Watching as three spears of crystal almost hit the deer, Orion waved his arm as three spears of ice countered them, shattering the six spears into a dust of sparkles. "Man..." Orion sighed as he stared at the spoiled bitch princess of a cousin. "I mean, hostility towards Faunas is one thing, but blatant murder of one on family grounds is a bit extreme, don'tcha think Cirrus?" he said looking down to his cousin. "I mean, sure we're rich and shit, powerful too, but murder isn't legal Bitch-stal. You still can go to prison! We're not above the law." Stepping onto the railing, Orion dropped down from the second floor onto the first floor, landing in a crouch. "And if you say anything about, 'Oh, I knew someone would block it in time', I'll slit my throat right here and now." Ignoring whatever the brat was going to say, Orion walked over to the other three. "You guys alright?"

As it was, Miles was actually happy for the sheer amount of people he'd overheard complaining about the Faunus guest in the room. Granted, there was an abundant amount of complaining about the Faunus security as well, but it was far more hushed. Even for his youth, he understood why. Not only did his mentor have a fairly sizeable reputation, but reputation in of itself was important to most of these types. So anything that risked their standing with Ironwood was likely avoided at all costs, and was also why so many people would whisper for none but themselves and one other to hear. Though it would also have seemed that a fair few failed to figure out that he was all ears.

So when he heard the ice crinkle and felt the temperature change, his immediate action was to send forth his aura. An impenetrable wall of unseen force rose up between the targeted Faunus and the oncoming attack, but there was no impact, and Miles semblance remained unseen, unknown and unused as a rival spear of ice shattered the attempted assault. Tilting an ear towards a new voice, Miles found himself driving down the urge to spit in disgust as he pulled back from a full on grimace to a much more reserved, tight lipped serious visage. His jaw only clenched harder as this... spoilt girl... dared to think he would have anything to do with her after such a brazen display of stupidity, vitriol and discrimination.

"The devil runs..." he muttered under his breath as her arms found his, and he quickly found himself please his sword and shield were stowed on his back and both of his hands came down to encircle the girls wrists. Raising his voice to be heard by all, he continued, "Assault, potentially attempted murder, and you dare?! Dare to make an attempt to 'ease it all over'. Dare to think you would garner anything but my contempt. I generally reserve my judgements, but your looks, if you even have them, fall on blind eyes girl. I don't give a damn what you'd 'like', I know where I'll be ta-"

"MILES! That's enough!"

Words halting in his throat as Argus' voice rang out over the crowd, Miles listened as he heard the Faunus alight to the ground next to him. At a signal from the man, Miles removed his hands from Crystal with a scowl, both irritated and disappointed, as well as moderately confused. If they were security, and they were here to handle such situations, then why were they not arresting this girl immediately?

"Crystal Schnee. My favourite Schnee to be certain," Argus spoke drolly, "As I am quite certain you've ascertained, Ironwood sent his best to handle this 'get-together'. So, as I'm sure you know, everything here is being recorded, including your attack. No worries however, as you aren't under arrest as of this moment."

Despite this, two other security members stepped up on either side of the girl, both looking ready for things to go sideways at a moments notice.

"However, you are in luck. You see, Miles here has his assigned task, but no fretting. My two senior associates here will escort you to your room as requested. They are good friends of mine, and I know they can be trusted to ensure you are quite well seen to until after the event, and Ironwood will handle everything else afterwards. Oh, and do not try something else foolish. I only ever scold a child once."

Without another word, Argus lifted off and flew himself back to his overwatch point in the room, leaving Crystal flanked by two grim faced guards. Opposite to her was Miles, who, albeit, begrudgingly realised what Argus was doing. Arresting the Schnee in her home, at a family event, it was insulting and potentially damaging, but there was risk here of causing a violent confrontation. However, by dropping Ironwood's name, everyone here now knew that the girl had put herself at odds with the man and his fellows. Reputation and saving face.

Groaning as he realised he would never enjoy handling politics or their nuances, Miles brushed past Crystal and her new entourage as he approached the Faunus, wanting to both keep by the boy's side lest something else occur, and ensure that he was alright.

"Apologies, I may not have appeared to move, but I wouldn't have allowed you to come to harm. Physically I would imagine you are fine, but how are your nerves? I'm Castus Clypeus Miles, by the way, mentoring under Argus Makovo, head of security."

Sage Auburn
When a member of Cirrus' family approached them, Sage was on edge upon hearing what she had to say in the matter of his presence there. It helped that Cirrus was willing to stand up for him, even if in the end it wasn't needed with her. Sage was actually a bit calmer at the discovery that Daffodil was okay with him and with their relationship. A bit calmer now, he allowed himself to look around as Cirrus and Daffodil continued to talk. He lightly activated his semblance to look and hear farther from his spot next to Cirrus. That's when he heard the formation of ice. Normally he would have dismissed the sound but he noticed it was coming from within the Manor.

Sage looked toward the familiar looking glyph where three ice crystals were forming, and they were aiming toward him. His eyes went wide at the sight, taking a step back once they began their travel toward him. He wanted to call out to Cirrus but his throat felt dry and blocked. His breath caught on his throat as he waited for the ice crystals to hit him. They never landed as something flew past him to intercept the assault. A few ice shards from the destroyed crystal hit his face, a much harmless attack he was expecting. Other than a clear line on his cheek, where it began to blossom red, he was unharmed. Shocked, but that was better than being dead at the moment.

Voices called back toward the woman that had started the attack. He was still trying to get out of his shock, which didn't allow him to pay attention to what they were really saying. He caught Orion's voice several times, but it wasn't until it was closer did Sage snap out of it. "A bit on edge," Sage tried to laugh it off, "I'll be okay, really. Thanks, Orion." Even with those words, it was clear that he was shaking. When an armored man came over to give his apologies, Sage just shook his head and replied, "I heard the formation of Ice. I was more than able to avoid the attack. Must be the nerves of being here that caused me to freeze up."

Crystal SchneeNot even flinching as the security took her hands she kept a cool and detached smile as he tried his best to insult her. Little did he know she held his life at the moment as behind his neck rested a small glyph. Tilting her head she looked him up and down. How cute. He doesn't know how I know him. Well I won't pry. Mother wouldn't like that. As he continued she couldn't help but find some humor in it. "My looks?" Laughing softly she shook her head and turned as another man called out the boy's name. As he removed his hands she stood still and closed her eyes with a calm smile on her face. Letting the glyph slowly vanish as she changed to a new target.

As she heard her name she gracefully turned on her heels and looked up and through the Faunus. Not particularly caring as to what he had to say she barely listened as he tried to warn her of their 'power.' "Ironwood huh? That's very cute of him to do so." Her smile widened ever so slightly as she noticed the other two and she ran her finger through her hair. As he reassured her as he would to anyone. Crystal was growing bored of the formalities and was starting to get irritated.

"Well as long as I can take the scenic route there, I don't have any issues. Though with all that's going to come out. I think Ironwood will have his own problems to deal with." Letting out a low hum she began to walk around the faunus and his gaudy appearance. "Unlike him. I make sure to hedge my bets. To consider someone foolish is foolish in itself. You should think more highly of your opponents, Argus." Walking past him she noticed Miles go over to the group and looked over at them all with a smug smile. "It was a pleasure to meet you all. See you in the morning." If you make it there, she thought to herself before passing through the open doors and made her way to the west wing. As she left she placed two small glyphs on the off switch of their heads for her own insurance. She wasn't one to trust others, everyone's a capable enemy afterall.

Walking the grounds under the light of the moon, it was relaxing for her. After a hour or so she made her way to her room and lifted the glyphs as they left. Letting out a sigh she peeled off her jacked sat in her chair. "And here I thought I'd get the opportunity to leave this place early. Oh well. It's not like I expected them to be as capable as I prepared them to be. Still this is just sloppy. I wonder if this is because of Ironwood's whole debacle about to come out. Can't keep the truth buried for forever." Looking at the chessboard in front of her she smiled. "I'm feeling a game of chess, see which pieces are lost by the end of the evening." Her eyes flashed a soft red glow in excitement as she slid the threatening note she had received days earlier out of her way.

I will attack on the day of the will reading. You'll die, as you deserve. Just like the rest of the Schnee.

Mako was, well, to put it literally, in a tight spot. Still, for the price she'd received, she really didn't care if some dry cleaning was going to be needed once the night was over. As it stood, or lay in her current position, keeping an eye on her quarry was easy enough, and she was less than subtle. Whether that was good or bad was completely up in the air at the moment. Given the two guards she'd just had to manouevre around, however, she at least knew they were going to no shortage to aid her in her oh so fun little task. Continuing along her path, Mako soon found herself barred by a quite loosened vent grate.

This grate in particular was one she'd already taken care of when the job had been taken and the money cleared. After all, being able to access everywhere your quarry was going to be was important. Shifting the grate out of the way the mercenary took care to lower herself quietly to the ground, noting that she was behind her quarry. Taking quiet steps until she stood directly behind her target, Mako's hand dropped to her belt, pulled out a fine example of modern ingenuity and lifted it to where it needed to be. Pulling the trigger, there was a flash in the girls face as the deed was done quickly.

Then silence as she reveled in her work, lowering the tool back to it's slot in her belt as she grinned, smoke drifting past her face...

"You know," Mako spoke around a freshly lit cigarette, "You sure do know how to make a scene."

Breaking the silence, Mako stepped around and sat opposite of her employer and grinned wolfishly. "I must say, you did a great fucking job proving that I should always demand cash upfront to. Shit, bitch, stirring up the hornets nest, it's almost like you wanted to get arrested. Or hell, maybe you do, cause that's where you think you'll be safest. I don't know how you upper crust types think." Fiddling with her holsters for a moment, Mako drew out one of her sidearms and looked down the sights, pointing it arbitrarily at one of the walls before continuing. "Of course, when I want a problem sorted I just rely on my own two hands. Of course, you want to throw your money at me instead, who am I to complain."

Pulling out a half empty pack of cigarettes, Mako reholstered her pistol before drawing one out. A quick twirl and she laid the cigarette down on the side of the chessboard next to the girl.

Of course, there were likely many who would question what they saw before them. A Faunus sitting down across from a Schnee in the manor. Particularly a Schnee with such a distaste for Faunus. But it was a simple business venture. Crystal had a task she needed exercised, Mako had the skill to ensure the task was carried out. Furthermore, Crystal had been offering a hefty sum, and while Mako's loyalty wasn't cheap, it was certainly well paid for. Still, there was something that needed cleared.

"You do remember I'm paid to protect you from harm. Not take on Atlas private military... or save you from a fucking prison cell. Right? I mean, sure, I got paid in advance, but I'm banking on a glowing review of everything 'cept maybe my Oum-damned attitude. Which means I'd rather the job not get absolutely fucked up the ass. You can't tell them I did my job well in the hole. And I don't care if any of you bitches like my attitude." she groused, pulling her lighter out from the spot in her belt and putting it next to the offered cigarette, "Shit, now's a great time to tell me what we're doing her anyway. Sure, the house is nice and all, but sneaking around in your ventilation system is a fucking drag."

OOC: That last part means if you want to go to school, say Beacon later on. She'd pay for your schooling.
Sitting in her empty room, Crystal waited for a moment as she considered the various games of chess she's won and lost in her life. There've been quite a few haven't there? She decided to repeat one game that she'd lost at quite a few years ago. Her demeanor didn't shift as a new presence entered the room, waiting for a tense moment she smiled a she heard the voice of her employee. Her attention returned to setting up the chest board as the woman spoke. She had to admit, in her eyes, what Crystal had done would seem a bit odd yet she wouldn't apologize for a thing. As the woman sat down and offered her a cigarette on the table, Crystal waited till she was done to answer her questions. Faunus or not she appreciated the straight forward types. Those who fluff with pleasantries, when they both know they think the worst of one another are quite irritating. Finished with set up around the time the woman ended her grievances ,her hand glided through the air and rested on her lap.

Her smile widening she looked up at the woman with glazed eyes. "My my my all this complaining. Anymore and I'd think you're trying to tell me you aren't up to the task." Reaching out she took the offered cigarette, inspecting it for a moment, she gracefully rested it between her lips. Looking diligently at the board her thoughts focused on the task at hand. Her hand glided over to the white pawn and slid it out beginning the game. As it rested with a calm click, her hand smoothly slid across the air and picked up the lighter.

Closing her eyes she lit the cigarette and took in a long and calming drag. Letting it settle with in her for a moment, she let out a long exhale of smoke as hercold calming blue eyes met with Mako's. Removing the cigarette she rested her head against her hand as her coy smile returned. "Come now, you know I can't tell you all the details, but know that everything is calculated. The outburst, the gloating, even that hint I gave the poor fools on who to see next." Resting the lighter back on the table she looked at the note, "even you crawling through the vents means that this so called attacker hasn't set any gas within it. That already makes things much easier. If I were to kill so many Schnee in one place, gas would do the trick, that cuts out one major option."

"As for my little outburst, it was for someone else. A little note to let them think I'm still their easily manipulated puppet. I know full well how fragile glass houses can be. Throwing stones will certainly cause it to crumble on anyone inside. Although leaving the manor all together wouldn't have been a bad thing. I could've worked without so much scrutiny." Letting out a soft sigh she looked back over to Mako, raising a gloved index finger. The cigarette balancing perfectly as her fingers shifted in one smooth gesture. "Which is where you come in."

"Since I make such a statement in every room I enter. You're to be my shadow. Even if this letter is false, I don't suspect tomorrow to go without some disaster. And like I said before. I like to hedge my bets." Putting out the cigarette onto the note, Crystal's eyes grew sharp and pierced straight through Mako. She certainly had distaste for Faunuses but she wouldn't be one to be cruel to her employees. "As for your attitude, I could care less. I'd rather review you on your aptitude and as no one has noticed you yet. You're worth your payment. Keep your eyes open and if you see something worth stopping, intervene quietly and without much of a mess. I want my inheritance to be delivered without problems. Afterwards the slaughter of the other Schnee can happen for all I care, whether it's this mystery attacker or myself. Keep your eye on the Schnee boys and that new Faunus, Sage. I despise unknown variables." Giving a soft chuckle she smiled and added, "do your job well and I may become your sponsor for any other endeavors you may be interested in."

Cirrus Jay Schnee
Walking alongside her older son Winter surveyed the room suspiciously. "Since I doubt my father intends to distribute his wealth among our more distant relatives I think it more likely that they are here merely as an audience for whatever manner of spectacle he or who he chose to favour has planned."

Cirrus meanwhile had placed himself between Daffodil and Sage ready for an argument but her response quickly took the wind out of his sails. "That was your idea of a test?" He demanded. "Who are you talki-" Keyed up by the tension he whirled around at the sound of a projectile whistling through the air already forming an oversized arm overlay to try and shield Sage though it turned out to be ultimately unnecessary as Orion deflected the attack. Shielding Sage with his augmented limb Cirrus looked the faunus over for injuries and wiped away the blood from his cheek finding the cut itself already being healed over by his aura. "Are you alright?" Still holding his boyfriend protectively Cirrus listened to his least favourite cousin with barely contained fury, only his fear that someone else might be looking to take a cheap shot at Sage kept him from rushing Crystal right there.

Slowly removing her hand from the hilt of her sword Winter eyed Crystal with an icy disapproval. "As I recall my father was only too happy to build up the company on the backs of faunus no matter how many of them broke in the process." As much as she usually kept herself out of SDC affairs it was evident to her that allowing the girl to take control would not be a stabilising influence. "A stance that gave fire to those that sought to bring it down resulting in many attacks on those close to this family." He piercing stare fell on many people in the room, Orion and Azure were far from alone in having being targets for radical elements.

Letting the security escort Crystal from the room Cirrus only relaxed fractionally and placed his free hand on Orion's shoulder. "Thank you Orion." He said softly before returning his attention to Sage barely sparing a scowl for the armoured security man from earlier. "Are you okay Sage? Do you want to leave?"
