"Eh, never mind" Frost said.
"Have have a nice day" Frost said as he walked past the faunus.
"Geese what a party pooper" Frost said to himself.
Frost went into the auditorium, seeing as there were no chairs he just assumed that he would stand in the back and not talk to anybody. He then looked at everybody but two people caught his eye, what looked as a brother and sister, he went on to examin the two 'I gotta' keep a close eye on those two' Frost thought to himself.

Kingdom of Vale – Vale city – Beacon academy – Infirmary – Oceanos; Ozpin, Purpurea (NPC)

“Ahaaa…is that so?”
Ozpin made a step towards the empty bed next to Oceanos and leaned against it.
“Well, I had a look at the information about you that Pardus saved on his scroll. You are 16 whereas huntsmen applicants must be 17; I am sure Pardus told you so. Of course, if the info is correct, you will turn 17 in a couple of weeks, so that should not be a problem.
Regarding the fees –“,
Oceanos opened his mouth even as he tried to come up with something; he did not have any money with which to pay tuition,
“- Pardus took care of that. A sum has been deposited at your disposition at Beacon. While it is not enough to make you a millionaire overnight, the money will suffice to cover your expenses for studying at Beacon, and if you use it economically, there might be a bit left for the first time after your graduation.”
Oceanos closed his mouth, speechless, inhaling shakily. The wave of grief from earlier was now followed by something like a tsunami of gratitude. He had often thought how much Pardus had been doing for him and the other villagers; protecting Sagisō, escorting them to other settlements and occasionally even to Vale, training Oceanos; but this? To the best of the young man’s knowledge, the old huntsman had no children or other close relatives, but still he would never have expected to be constituted as Pardus’ heir.
He nodded, not trusting his voice.

Ozpin looked at him gently, then focused again.
“There is, on the other hand, the matter of the entrance exam and initiation. I am sure Pardus explained to you that most young people who aspire to become huntsmen first attend a combat school, then go through the exam to be accepted at Beacon. Only then can they go through the initiation, which is going to happen tomorrow, by the way.”
Oceanos clenched his fists. He had literally gone through everything between Sagisō and Beacon, and now this?
“Luckily, Pardus did his job very well. I have had quite some time to go through his thorough documentation of your training. Amongst the very last videos he recorded, I found a long and continuous one showing you going through a whole number of fights, not only defeating an large number of various Grimm but also dueling your mentor right afterwards, showing rather impressive skills with your weapons.”
Oceanos remembered the day this had happened; Pardus and he had gone deep into the forests and first attracted the attention of several hordes of Grimm to make them follow them, then Pardus had withdrawn, leaving Oceanos to deal with them alone. Only seconds after having defeated the last one, the boy had barely managed to block several shots from Pardus’ weapon. His teacher had attacked him ferociously, and when the duel finally was over, Oceanos had been completely exhausted.
What he did not remember was Pardus ever having recorded him. How had the old huntsman done that?

“I could not help but notice the seeming intent of your mentor to put your skills on display, in quite a similar manner as the entrance exam is supposed to do. I am therefore willing to consider you as having passed the exam.”
Again, relief flowed through Oceanos.
“You will still have to go through initiation tomorrow, though, to become part of a team for your upcoming years at Beacon.”
Oceanos opened his mouth to agree, but a stern voice cut him off before he even started.
“Absolutely not.”
He stared at Purpurea.
“I have no idea what you are thinking, Professor Ozpin, with all due respect. The boy is not in the state to even leave his bed, much less run through a Grimm-infested forest!”, the woman said angrily, glaring at the headmaster.
“That might be true, Purpurea, but I do believe in making your own decisions and then dealing with the consequences. Trust me, I have quite some experience with that…”, the man answered, then looked at Oceanos again, raising his eye brows.
“So?”
Oceanos nodded immediately.
“I’ll do it. Whatever this initiation is, I will be there tomorrow. And don’t worry, Madame Purpurea, I on the other hand have quite some experience with Grimm-infested forests”, he said, smiling weakly at the woman. He was not sure if that was the correct address for her.
She stared at him ungraciously.
“Please? Look, this is really important to me. Surely you have also had something really important to you in your life? Can you not understand that?”, he added, becoming increasingly desperate. He had no idea what it would mean if she did not agree. Would Ozpin actually forbid him to go through initiation then?
But maybe the nurse did understand. After a moment, she sighed and her expression softened.
“Oh all right! But just to make this clear, you will stay in this bed for the night, not sleep in the ball room, and you will also sleep here for the next three nights after the initiation so that I can monitor your recovery!”
“Yes, absolutely, absolutely!”,
Oceanos agreed enthusiastically. He would have agreed to sleep in the infirmary for a month just as long as he was allowed to the initiation.
“Very well, it is settled then. Initiation begins tomorrow morning; until then I suggest you get as much rest as you can”, Ozpin said, pushing himself off the bed he had been leaning against and leaving with a nod towards Purpurea.
The nurse looked at Oceanos again strictly.
“I also suggest that you rest, seeing as apparently, everything I say is a mere suggestion nowadays!”
Oooukay…Oceanos hoped her irritation with him would not be permanent. He did not worry too long, though, as he felt as if the last hours of sleeping were non-existent. Seconds after he had closed his eyes, he was already asleep.

Kingdom of Vale – Vale city – Beacon academy – Amphitheater – Ozpin, Glynda and many, many students

Finally, a man clad in dark clothes with green elements took the stage: Professor Ozpin. Everyone became silent.
The man welcomed the students to his school, then went on and held a speech; he rather bluntly explained that he saw lots of wasted energy in the students without any purpose. Additionally, he emphasized that what they would learn in Beacon would only take them so far; it was up to them to do the rest. It was a surprisingly short speech, though; not even five minutes must have passed before Glynda Goodwitch told the students they would be sleeping in the ball room for the night and have initiation the next day. Then, both of them left.
Immediately, the room was taken back by the buzzing of the students.

Frost notices the siblings leaving the auditorium, 'hmm i wonder where their going, whatever it aint' my buisness' Frost thinks to himself while waling to the ball room to drop off his stuff and set up as far away from other people as he can.
'geese how are so many people her already we only just got out of the assembly whats happening, eh whatever' Frost thinks
Frost walks over to a corner where he doesnt see anybody occupying, he the continues to set up his stuff, when he's done he pulls out his scroll and listens to music while he sleeps not knowing that he's out of pill from the pill container he has in his pocket.

(just a little knote, ussually Frost's pill containers can last up to three days but today has been a pretty stressfull day so he used the whole thing unknowingly)

Aue put his bag onto the floor and put Thrillseeker on the ground next to him. The ground wasn't very comfortable, so Aue spread a singular cushiony blanket on the floor and grabbed a thin one to keep out the cold. He sat on the ground and looked around, watching as others went to sleep or stayed up to chat. He saw the annoying kid from earlier, Frost, listening to music, and perked his ears up, angling it in his direction. It would be nice to listen to music without using his own scroll since Aue couldn't really put headphones on.

Frost woke up fast looking around he noticed the brother and sister and then he saw that kid from earlier, "really c'mon" he mumbled to himself while reaching for a book in his bag.
while reading his book he got severly into the story of an ancient man who could use magic at his own will, and that he was fight an evil dust user who could use the ability of the dust to it's full extent, in the book he was on the 13th chapter when the main character was in a near death expeariance when he was forced to close the book when a girl came up to him randomly and started to talk to him about the brand of hoodie he was wearing, "oh my guad is that the new desighner black jacket hoodie" the girl said
"no" he says in a serious tone
"
then what is it" the girl says
"it's just a normal hoodie that I got at a shop, in my village" he says
"oh, well then, sorry for bothering you" she says
"yah no problem bud" he says as he opens his book back up

Name: Clementine
Place: Ballroom

Ozpin's speech left Clementine speechless for more reasons than one. Judging from her previous school, she had made herself comfortable with her jacket on the floor, expecting it to take at least an hour. Normally, headmasters were so proud of their schools that they bored everyone with every aspect that they deemed somewhat mentionable.
In this case, however, Ozpin had given them nothing reminiscent of exposition or guidelines. Instead it had been carefully created sentences with meanings that seemed to go way deeper than the eyes could see.
Afterwards, life seemed to be a little to perplex to go on normally and Clementine felt like she was in a kind of stupor. She repeated the few sentences in her head, pondering what the headmaster had meant to say, but soon she could not remember the excact words anymore and the meaning that had seemed so in reach was completely lost to her.
She shook her head. It was no use. Just like he had said, she would have to figure everything else out along the way, trying to understand what he had tried to teach them in this cryptic way of his. Well, there was a reason she would spent several years to come in this school, training to become a huntress, so she would have plenty of time going over those things again and again. Perhaps one of her future teammates would happen to know the answer.
Anyway, it was no use to wonder about this now. Soon it would be time to go to sleep and judging by the way it always went when too many teenagers shared a room, a god night sleep was even more unlikely than a domesticated Grimm. Alas, she would do. Somehow. Clementine just hoped that she would find someone who made it worth spending the night with them instad of sleeping soundly through it all.

"Ah, no no no!" Sumire exclaimed at Sable, her hands shooting before her to wave off the notion. "I didn't mean you had to leave, I just... didn't want you to feel obligated to stay here out of obligation or anything," she stammered, her words repeating themselves out of nervousness. "I mean... you're a lot better with words than me. I just figured you'd have met people on the airship and already become friends with them and um, would want to see them and, um-" Her words trailed off as her train of thought derailed, unsure quite where to go from there; Sable clearly seemed to have no issue with sticking around, but still Sumire's inner voice was telling her she was being a burden to him. Thankfully, the sudden amplified sound of a man clearing his throat created an effective, if not particular elegant escape to her predicament.

Oh thank the gods. "Ah, it looks like the assembly is beginning," the violet haired artist interrupted herself with. She turned in place just a little too quickly to be natural, now facing the stage as whom she assumed was Professor Ozpin began to speak.

...wasted energy?

... take the first step?

Ozpin was, true to his word, brief, and before Sumire had time to process the few words spoken, he was off. A blonde woman told them to report to the ballroom for the night prior to their initiation, and just as quickly followed her predecessor off the stage. Just like that, their opening ceremony was over. "What... wait," Sumi quietly intoned, flabbergasted at the experience she'd just gone through. "That's it? That's all we're being told?" She brought a gloved hand up to clasp at her forehead as she shook it to and fro, asking "What are we supposed to do with that?" to the air, before reaching down to grasp at her suitcase again dejectedly with a sigh. "I guess we'd better make our way over then. I'm going to need some time to contemplate my impending doom."

~~~
The ballroom was darkened inside, the dim moonlight itself doing little to illuminate but for patches on the ground where it dimly shone in from the windows. A series of candles had been lit in sconces along the walls, their lights flickering with every wisp of breeze students summoned as they passed by quietly, not wishing to draw the ire of their compatriots. Up above, grand chandeliers lit up the ceiling in ethereal washes of glowing light, further magnifying the grandeur and mystery of the place they now temporarily resided. It was a beautiful composition of light and dark, color and gray, and in any other situation Sumire would have found herself eagerly attempting to recreate it in a medium of her choice. But at the moment, dread and anxiety weighed heavily upon her, dulling her spirits and imposing a most nasty case of artist's block, and so underneath it all, she lay sprawled out on her back, already the model of defeat. Clad in a thin set of lavender-colored pajamas, she stared wordlessly at the ceiling atop a sleeping bag she had rolled out along the ground, trying desperately to find some shred of focus as she awaited the next day. A sketchbook with various scratched out attempts to capture the scene sat vehemently tossed away atop the pile of possessions (which included the outfit she'd been wearing that day) that comprised the contents of her suitcase, the massive container having finally been opened to reveal its insides. Anyone who ventured a gaze at it would notice that while roughly half of the space had been taken up by clothing, toiletries, and other daily neccessities, the other half was devoted solely to what appeared to be artistic supplies, explaining the surprising weight of it earlier.
"Ugh... what in the world am I going to do tomorrow..." she quietly moaned anew, an arm coming up to rest against her forehead in visible exasperation. "I know that a huntress is supposed to be able to react accordingly to an unknown situation, but this is just so... worrying," Then again, maybe this is really why Haven didn't let me in. I bet oneesama wouldn't have wouldn't have flinched even slightly if she were in my shoes... A pained look crossed Sumire's face as she considered the possibility of her inherent inadequacy, before forcing the thought to the back of her mind; she was already concerned enough about one performance test, she didn't need to be trying to consider her past results on another at the same time. In an effort to clear her mind, she sat up from her makeshift bed, rolling over onto one arm to look out over the collected massive of fellow students. It was funny to think of them this way, but with the opening ceremony having passed, she supposed they were classmates as good as any. Sure, teams had yet to be decided, and of course, there was the matter of the initiation on the horizon, but barring some unforeseen tragedy, these were going to be the people she associated with for the next four years. Hmm... maybe that's the problem I'm having... She reached over to the discarded sketchbook and flipped the page with the scrtkt of paper being manipulated. Then, lifting her pencil, she began to draw anew, her stylus making soft scratches across the surface with every stroke. This time instead of trying to capture the gravitas of the ballroom hall, she focused her art on a much more down-to-earth subject: the students within.
As Sumi started to babble Sable simply continued smiling at her, although internally he groaned. He should have seen it coming really, but Sable had hoped he could keep himself from working Sumi up. It seems that luck, as always, was against Sable this day. After a moment's thought Sable decided to let Sumi babble, as that way she'd (hopefully) run out of steam to freak out with.
When he heard the sound of a voice clearing however, Sable immediately turned towards it with a frown, his attention focused entirely on the older gentleman standing on the platform who had to be Professor Ozpin himself, Headmaster of Beacon Academy. The speech itself wasn't that bad as far as speeches went, and Sable actually found himself liking it for once. It was like the speeches his mother would give the staff on the rare bad day: short and sweet, but also to the point on the matter. However, while the speech was good, Ozpin himself seemed... off. Sable had seen his father overworked enough times to know when someone wasn't up to snuff, and Ozpin almost seemed to be working on fumes to Sable. Of course, that made sense to Sable: If anyone would be overworked or stressed it would be a Headmaster of a Hunter's academy. Still, it was worrying to see such a man look so tired.
Shaking his head as he dismissed his thoughts, Sable turned back towards Sumi with a new smile adorning his face. "Well then, that was surprisingly short." Sable hummed, holding out a hand towards her for the other end of her suitcase, tisking at her pessimistic attitude. "Oh come now Sumi, don't be so negative! You'll do just fine, I'm sure of it! Just keep your chin up and do your best and it'll all work out." He insisted, grinning widely at Sumi as he assisted in moving her things to wherever she decided to bed for the night.
--------------
Sable had to admit, Beacon's ballroom was an impressive masterwork. The chandeliers, the artwork, the sheer size, it was all rather breathtaking. It was certainly better then the one back home, and that was saying something, as the Marigold mansion's ballroom was a beautiful work of fairly expensive art.
After helping Sumi move her things, Sable had immediately gone to get changed into something more comfortable. Unlike many of the boys in the ballroom, Sable was actually wearing a shirt along with his pants, a set of plain grey pjs being his choice of the night. He'd ended up choosing a location that was close enough to Sumi that she could see him, but far enough away to give her space. If Sumi wanted to talk she could come to him, and if not then he wouldn't be smothering her with his presence. A worthy compromise he felt, best of both worlds.
Although while the ballroom was wonderful, Sable had a few things to say about the whole sleeping arrangement in general. I mean, seriously. All the boys and girls in one giant room together? I get that Hunters are supposed to be comfortable with their teammates and all but I swear, whoever's thought it was a good idea to put a buch of hormonal teens in a room together is an utter idiot, and I don't care if it was fucking Ozpin himself who suggested it. With that warm thought Sable made sure to keep a watch out. Some idiotic excuse of a male was sure to make a fool of himself in order to impress a girl, and Sable didn't want to miss it for the world. In the meantime, Sable had decided to go ahead and do a few stretches and yoga poses. He didn't do it regularly as his training usually kept him limber, but since he hadn't brought any books to read he might as well keep himself occupied.
Lilith honestly didn't care much for speechs from leader figures, old fogies with agendas spewing hot air, but the headmaster's was refreshingly straight forward and realistic. Short too, like she had predicted. The message was simple enough; That they were all weak and useless and, while this school could give them the tools, it would not magicly change them. They would have to make that effort themselves. To Lilith this much seemed obvious, but how many couldn't see that? Wouldn't see that? And how many would die because of it?
Soon she reached the ballroom and she let out a groan when she saw the crowd. She had been hoping the rumors of a slumber party had been just talk, but here she was staring at a room full of kids in various stages of dress getting ready for the night. So pulling her hood down further on her head and slipped into the room. She stalked through, passing a redhead linx watching some emo boy in a corner, a brightly colored lizard (she wasn't sure what kind), a silver-haired one eared cat doing yoga, and a purple-haired girl drawing in a sketchbook. Her eyes lingered on this last one for a second, reminded of her own sister's obsession with the arts, but soon she had walked past and the moment was gone.
Eventually she reached the far end of the room, just before the massive row of windows stopped and the stage began. Letting go of her stuff she dropped down and leaned back against the window frame. She didn't change into her sleepwear, didn't roll out a sleeping bag, didn't pull out a blanket or even a pillow. There wouldn't have been any point. There were too many people too close to her in too enclosed a space. If she closed her eyes would she see jade eyes and hear that gentle laughter once more? Or would those glowing red eyes crawl their way into her dreams again. When she opened her eyes would it be because of pain? Would she be alone in a Grimm infested forest? Or would the building be burning around her? If she relaxed around these strangers, which one would it be that she'd find trying to cut her ears off or slit her throat? Even though she knew she was safe, knew that nothing would happen to her here, she just could not seem to drive these thoughts away. At least here by the window she didn't feel trapped. Here she could escape at any moment she needed.
So no, Lilith would not be sleeping tonight. She'd just sit there and stare off into the night, fiddling with the knives hidden in her vest as she warred with her anxieties, and wondered if she had made the right choice.
The speech was blessedly short for the Wolf Faunus that was carrying far to many things. He had been scared that it would take some time and that he might drop something before it was all finished, but lucky him he hadn't. Well, not yet anyways, there was always later. And that later was fast approaching as he felt a duffel bag begin to slip from underneath his arm. If he dropped that one, it would no doubt cause a cascading effect where everything just magically ended up on the floor. So Isern was one of the few leading the pack into the ballroom, where he promptly claimed a spot and unceremoniously dropped everything. He took a moment to shake out the stiffness in his arms, but quickly set out constructing his nest of blankets, which his mother had expertly packed one of the duffel bags with.
When it was all said and done, Isern had a neat little bed, hemmed in by his bags to keep him from rolling to far in either direction and invading other's space while he slept. And, after stamping in a small circle, he promptly laid down and prepared to go to sleep before almost immediately getting back up and rummaging around in one of his many packs. Whatever he pulled out, he quickly walked off with it towards the restrooms. And when he came back, he was in much more casual wear. Baggy grey swishy shorts (a hole poked through for his tail) and a simple white shirt were his PJ's for the night, and for many more to come. And this time, after once more ritualistically stamping in a circle and laying down, he remained down. However, it was clear that he was not yet ready to go to sleep as he tossed this way and that looking for a comfortable position to lay.
Raine Olympia
Raine spent most of her time during the speech inspecting the visible teachers. The woman with the riding crop seemed quite impressive, she carried herself with an air of confidence and her eyes would dart menacingly to the few students who'd dare talk during the assembly. The headmaster was more of a conundrum; Raine prided herself on her ability to guage skill in combat but with him she couldn't be sure. Though that only excited her, he certainly had strength behind his words but where the strength originated was an enigma that Raine longed to solve. But the speech quickly came to a close and the headmaster left her sight. Raine wondered whether or not he'd be willing to spar with the students Her thoughts left her as she followed the crowd to the hall that they would be sleeping.
Raine ducked into the bathrooms and changed into her bedclothes, a dress eerily similar to her usual one, albeit with a bit more length and sleeves. She took her place in the corner of the room, sitting up on her briefcase so she could peer across the seated cohort, using the last of the light to inspect as much as she could, all the while maintaining the same dull smile. As she'd noted before, there were more faunus than she'd expected, though she didn't see much diversity between them, Raine wondered if they were all children of the same cat and dog. One such cat seemed particularly on edge, covering herself in a hood and scurrying down to the most secluded area of the hall. Raine frowned; cowardice in the face of a crowd was hardly evidence of a skilled huntress in the making.
Raine leaned back, resting her head against the wall of the hall. She would watch these students until lights out. She absentmindedly began braiding her hair, as her eyes continuously scanned the room, pausing on those she gleaned potential and passing over those without.
The music got boring; it was basically the same melody over and over. So he looked around. Observers only saw a casual and slightly curious glance at others, but that was not the truth. Although he was looking at each person for less than half a second, Aue was, in his reality, looking at each person for a good thirty seconds if necessary. His spot was against the wall, to make a good escape if needed. But it also provided a good place to look around.
There were a few close groups scattered around. Aue saw one of the cat Faunus on the wall. After a few seconds of close scrutiny, he spotted the bulges in her vest; probably some weapons. She was very tense, and her ears were going up but slightly backward, which meant she was stressed. Either fear of crowds or paranoia of some sort.
Another group consisted of three girls; they were talking to each other a little loudly. He looked at them for only a few seconds before dismissing them as a threat.
He noticed another cat Faunus; the one that he had seen earlier. The Faunus seemed to have only one ear, which was peculiar. He didn't know of any cat species that had that, so it was an injury.
What is up with all these cat Faunus?
The Faunus was doing some stretching exercises of some sort, seemingly out of nothing else to do., but he did seem very flexible. Aue might be able to escape from this place,but he could bet the Faunus could hunt him down quite easily.
< Cronan Dracula>
The Kingdom of Vale - Beacon Academy - Student Assembly Hall
Seeing as how most people seemed to flock towards the Assembly hall Cronan came to the conclusion that the staff had arrived and it was finally time for things to get started and so quickly followed suit, trying his best to not get too tangled up in the ginormous crowd of students. He watched as a man donned in dark clothes, who he assumed to be no one other than Professor Ozpin himself walk up to the mic on the stage and began his speech. It was short, straight forward and brutally honest, but Cronan Appreciated it. Mr.Ozpin didn't go on this long inspirational speech that filled the onlookers with a false sense of hope and wonder or say that the time spent at the academy would automatically shape them into fine hunters, no such school existed after all.
Once everything was said and done he immediately made his way into the ballroom hoping to have as few interactions as possible, at least for the rest day anyway. He timidly made his way through the various assortment of students around him from the shirtless guys trying to flirt and show off to the girls gossiping about the latest trends, finding a secluded enough spot near one of the corners of the room and deciding to set up his makeshift bed there.
To say that Cronan was nervous about what laid in store for him tomorrow would be an understatement but deep down he could also feel a rush of excitement building itself up. He placed his glasses back in the safety of its case before lying down and trying his best to drift off to sleep.
Kingdom of Vale - Beacon Academy - Ballroom
Y'know, if you had asked Spinel what all had been addressed in Ozpin's welcome speech and the like, he wouldn't've been able to tell you. He had resolved to some made up contest in his mind and tuned out of reality. Supposing someone else would make an attempt to break him out of his trance. The was most definitely not the case, unfortunately. So, here he was in the ballroom with way too many people. Don't get him wrong, he didn't have any particular dislike for people as a whole. He liked to think of himself as friendly. However, he wasn't good at dealing with the noise, some sensory perception disorder he's been told. Hearing the echoes of time ripple back into your skull is something totally different to deal with when you're living out in the boonies and only talk to maybe two people a day if you're lucky. Spinel was excited to have the chance to converse with people his age, only undercut by the fact that his skull was going to split open. Really only a set-up for disaster, confirmed when he slipped on some fucking idiot's weapon. Who fucking leaves their weapon on the floor for people to trip on!? Spinel's thoughts bounced out of his mind, as he lost all semblance of balance. Pushing his momentum away from other people as best he could, he dived toward the wall in front of him.
"Mother fuck--!" He rolled across the floor, stopping dead on his skull. His legs carried the momentum and crashed nearly through the window. Of course being Beacon Academy, it was definitely ballistic level.
Fuck it--he thought to himself, he had made an embarrassment of himself almost immediately--I'll just stay right here. He was going to own it; best case scenario, everyone underestimates him. It happens every time someone talks to him already. His sharper, throatier accent definitely betrays him, in revealing his Buttfuck, Nowhere origins. On his left side was a gargantuan amazon woman, and she had definitely seen and most likely dismissed him. Then to his right--much, much closer--a Faunus; the necklace said wolf, but the eyes definitely screamed cat. Smelled like one too. Not that he was supposed to know. He made an immediate effort to hide it, not even she'd be able to figure him out. Now, the look on her face definitely said she gave no shits, but Spinel most definitely saw the tension across her muscles--her forearms and hamstrings in particular. Set up in a posture where she could dart off at a moment's notice. He could hear the twitching of each individual fiber of her body. She didn't show it, but she was most definitely on edge, even considering how much of a fool he looked. Like he would suddenly get up and execute her on the spot. Now, Spinel wasn't here to make friends, but it would've been nice. He let out a light sigh.
"Sincerest apologies, friend." He whispered to the Faunus, and gave a timid wave to that giantess on the other end. Then he kicked away from the wall. The pressure on his head shifting forward until he was no longer upside-down. He flopped hard onto the floor, stomach first.
Now, of course, they weren't going to worry much about it. He wouldn't say much else, unless of course they addressed him for whatever ungodly reason. He was going to get some rest. Well, the best he could. With as many voices swimming around and crashing against his skull, he would have to be the last asleep. Who knew how long that'd take? Maybe he'll sneak off somewhere quieter later on.
Kingdom of Vale - Beacon Academy - Ballroom
It had become quiet. Not a voice cried out, nor whispered around the room. Only Spinel's own voice, that sprouted infinitely in his vision. He still couldn't sleep, the tossing and turning of each individual in the room creating a feedback loop in his mind that echoed into eternity. He was starting to lose it, as tad. Time to get the fuck out o' here. He pulled his legs up and used his head to push against the wall on which he sat, elevating his body into a standing position. Sighing to himself, he stepped forward. His foresight guiding his each step, as to avoid stepping on something, or someone. Soon, he was outside, alone. I want to know... what happens next. Perhaps he'd take a moment to find someplace to meditate. Now, Beacon Academy was peculiar, in the sense of location. Having been built on a cliff-side for who knows the reason? Spinel had taken to exploring that cliff-side. Finding what he found to be a rather interesting spot. A rainbow eucalyptus tree, growing sideways out of the eastern cliff-side. Most unusual, not really a native species. What's more, the roots stretched out of the stone wall as well; curving and curling together to create a seemingly intentionally grown seat made of roots.
As Spinel stepped closer to it, his eyes grew a dull ache. Visions of the future invasively slammed into him. He saw that this tree was important, to become a getaway for him. Strangely, he could see much further than he ever could before. For just the briefest of moments, he saw well past the coming week, or even the year. It was incredible; but as fast as it arrived, it left. Stunned by what he had seen, he decided he would have a seat in this 'chair'.
Lucky that Beacon was so far from the city; like this, he'd still be able to view the same starry sky. Shaking that away, he pulled a vial from his pocket. In it, a deep blue liquid.
"Thank fuck, water dust got so cheap." He whispered to himself, uncapping the vial.
Looking up to the sky, he held his eyes open with his right hand, and took to dropping the liquid in with his left. Having dropped some of it in, he felt the energy crawl into his brain; like a foreign entity worming its way past his eyes and into his mind. It enveloped him, and he felt himself open up. He felt himself and the world around him grow. He could go about a week out.
"Let's see how far down this rabbit hole goes."
Kingdom of Vale – Vale city – Beacon Cliff – Ozpin, Glynda and many, many first-year students
“For years, you have trained to become warriors, and today, your abilities will be evaluated in the Emerald Forest”,
Ozpin said. He and Glynda were standing directly at the Beacon Cliff, facing the students who had gathered for their initiation.
Oceanos had come here directly from the hospital wing. Purpurea – or rather, Miss Digitalis, which he now knew to be her last name – had awoken him in time earlier, putting a tray with a light but nutritious breakfast next to his bed. While his stomach had produced a somewhat indistinguishable feeling, the young man had not really felt hungry, which he had pointed out when thanking her. The nurse had explained to him that this was due to the infusion she had given him immediately after noticing in what a condition he actually was – her tone immediately becoming accusing again. He had only then noticed the IV bag connected to his arm, which in this moment she proceeded to remove. Miss Digitalis had elaborated, saying that the infusion had not only rehydrated him, but also contained all kinds of nutrients, which explained his lack of an appetite. She had insisted on him eating, though, and assured him that his appetite would return very quickly.
Then, she had shown him a wardrobe full of lost and found items – apparently, if you did not get your lost stuff back within a couple of months, this was where it went. He had been delighted to find a white t-shirt, blue hoodie and jeans together with comfortable dark sneakers in his size. As always, he had immediately hidden his necklace under the t-shirt when getting dressed.
After the nurse had reminded him that she expected him back in the evening for his second night in the infirmary, she had explained to him where to head and returned his weapons to him – perfectly in the moment in which Glynda Goodwitch’s voice had sounded from the speakers, asking all first-year students to go to the cliff.
Finally, he was here, standing in a row with the other new students.
“Now, I'm sure many of you have heard rumors about the assignment of teams. Well, allow us to put an end to your confusion. Each of you will be given teammates... today”, Glynda continued. Again, Ozpin took the word.
“These teammates will be with you for the rest of your time here at Beacon. So, it is in your best interest to be paired with someone with whom you can work well.”
He proceeded to explain the details. They would be launched into the forest, where they had to go north, find some temple and retrieve a number of relics, one relic for each pair of students. Apparently, they would form pairs completely by chance, having to stick together with the first other student they made eye contact with.
Oceanos nodded. He noted the current position of the sun, determining the direction he would have to head for, then slightly bent his knees. When the plate he was standing on activated, this would hopefully allow him to absorb the force a bit better. Then, he took Scylla and Charybdis from his back.
Someone to his right decided to ask about landing strategies even as the launch plate on the far left activated, setting off a chain reaction which catapulted all the students into the air. Initiation had begun.
Aue spread his arms and legs wide, stretching his limbs out to catch the wind below him and slow his fall. At the moment he was being catapulted forward. His head locked onto a tree far ahead much higher than the rest. That would be his landing space.
Tensing up, he slowed his own time and decreased his own gravity.
As the tree drew near, he flipped forward, doing a front flip and activating Thrillseeker. Aue timed it perfectly, thanks to time alteration, and Thrillseeker sliced into the tree's wood, absorbing most of the shock as his feet touched down.
Crouching sideways on the tree, he pulled Thrillseeker out of the tree with a grunt, and his body started to lurch back. After no hesitation, he did another flip and plowed through a few branches before landing on his feet.
Aue staggered a bit; it had been a little disorientating, doing that. But soon after the feeling of dizziness faded, and he stood upright.
Current location: Beacon Academy, Cliff face
Sable listened to Ozpin's instructions intently, taking note of how teammates were made. 'An interesting choice to make teams based on eye contact, but I guess it removes the need to read the paperwork and assign them yourself.' He thought idly as the first launcher was fired off, and as he was relatively early on in the line, Sable didn't have long to wait before he found himself flying through the air.
For a few seconds Sable simply closed his eyes and drifted through the air, enjoying the feel and sound of the wind rushing by him, and the adrenaline from the plummet toward impending doom. In that moment he fully understood the thought process of an adrenaline junky, as he relished that feeling weightlessness that grasped at his very soul and made him feel free. Or maybe that was just gravity reasserting control, and it was time to end this thought process.
After those few seconds of introspection passed Sable snapped open his eyes and located a suitable branch near where he'd land, five yards near it ro be specific. Once he'd done that he Shattered his way on top of the branch, his plummeting speed nullified entirely when he did so. It always amazed Sable that his Semblance could simply remove his velocity, especially that it did so without harming him, but he had stopped questioning it long ago. It was useful, and that was that, no need to contemplate things that didn't need contemplating.
Taking a moment to observe his surroundings, Sable dropped down, idly picking a direction in the tree line and walking in it as he drew his sword out from off his back. "Here Grimmy, Grimmy, Grimgrim." Sable said in a soft voice, his tone icy enough to send chills down the spine of anyone who might hear it. "You really shouldn't hide you know, you have a date to attend to with Jasmine and Silvia. And let me tell you Mister Grimm, the girls hate to be disappointed by their dates." He always felt better after mocking the Grimm, despite the fact that it did pretty much nothing but give him an excuse to yell at something and not get in trouble for it. Sure, talking like that made him sound rather insane, but it wasn't like anyone was close enough to actually hear him say that.... right?
<Cronan Dracula>
The Kingdom of Vale - Vale City - Beacon Cliff
So this is it then? The initiation starts now and teammates will be decided upon eye contact. Cronan pondered as he was launched high up into the air, narrowly avoiding a poor bird as he sailed over the forest. I hope that whoever it is that I end up running into is at least a nice person, he thought hopefully as he slowly started losing altitude.
He took a moment to close his eyes and focus on manifesting his semblance, while he was sure most people would rely on using their weapon to break their fall, his bow allowed for no such luxury. In using his semblance he would need to create small and concentrated blasts that wouldn't expend too much of his aura but would still allow for maneuverability.
He stretched his arms back as sparks slowly began to emit from the palm of his hands before he was downwards propelled by the force of a small explosion. He twisted his body in the air as he became increasingly closer to the ground and firing off a few more explosions to dodge out of the way of incoming trees before skidding to a stop as his boots made contact with the ground.
"Ok that wasn't so bad," he said dusting himself off "Now, I just have to find...a partner then locate temple and receive the relics... I can do this" He reassured himself as he prepared himself set off deeper into the forest when he heard what sounded like ramblings of a mad man. He moved towards the direction the voice was coming from only to spot a silver-haired cat faunus in the distance, brandishing his weapons. "Umm... what exactly are you going on about?" Cronan spoke up meekly from behind a tree.
Chrom flew into the air; at first, it felt good, like in a wind tunnel or something, but after a few seconds he started to fall, which was not great.
Quickly he spotted a nearby tree and brought out Season's Greetings. Diving towards it, he managed to dig the blade deep into the tree trunk, absorbing the force of his fall and almost splitting the tree in half in the process. He stopped high in the air, and after a few awkward moments, managed to grab onto a branch and pull Season's Greetings out of the wood, sending quite a few splinters down below.
Somewhere underneath him, he caught a glimpse of someone with silver hair, maybe a Faunus: he could see the shape of one ear, but not the other... Nevermind. The point was, he had just accidentally dumped a ton of wood chips onto this guy. "Sorry about that! It was an accident."
Rain Olympia
Hmm, so the first one we make eye contact with will be guaranteed to be on our team? Well that’s certainly a mixed bag. Raine thought as she stood dully on her platform by the cliff.
She was now adorned in her full armour, freshly polished and free of any dents and scratches. The night had been dull, most had simply fallen asleep and the morning had been just as unimpressive. Raine had, had had some pancakes for breakfast and a few sausages on the side. Their professor had explained how the initiation would work in the same monotone voice he had used at the opening ceremony. Raine failed to withhold her loud yawn, she just wanted to get out and start the actual trial.
Finally, one after the other, the huntsmen-to-be were launched off the cliff. Rain lowered her centre of gravity in preparation for the launch and, with a click, was sent flying into the sky. Falling was nothing to fear for her, her semblance had rendered that little fear irrelevant. She simply had to bend her own trajectory. As Raine arced downwards the pull of gravity seemed to almost shift as Raine’s body began moving parallel to the ground, cresting just above the trees until her speed had dropped. Ending her long slide with a small backflip Rain thrust the tip of Stytryx into the nearest tree, and the weapon extending, dropped down, her feet landing evenly on the forest floor.
With a flick of her wrist, her long weapon wound up and straightened into its spear form.
Hmmm, the mute girl would certainly be fun. Though communications would definitely be a problem…
Raine heard rustling in the bushes a little way ahead of her, she glimpsed a set of glowing red eyes peering back at her. A wide grin broke out on her face, her eyes turning sinister.
“Mmm but why worry about fate when I can have a little fun instead,” Raine chuckled deeply as she shrugged her shield to her arm and assumed a combat stance, waiting for the creature to pounce.
Kingdom of Vale - Vale City - Beacon Cliffs - Spinel
Spinel was admittedly a tad discouraged; he had seen through a good bit of the week, and found that he wasn't in for an easy ride. The first sign being the landing strategy; if he stood on the launch platform, he wasn't going to make it out alive. See the platforms created a lot more vertical momentum than anything else, and he didn't have anything to combat that. Fortunately, he managed to cobble up a sort of plan. While everyone else waited patiently on their platforms, he was a little ways back: about ten paces. Now, if I time this right-- Seeing the other platforms go off one-by-one, he set himself up a mad dash to his platform. His right foot catching the top side of it at the last second, he threw his entire body weight forward.
Alright! I got this. Having kicked off in the way that he did, Spinel would end up landing farther out than the others. He was also much closer to the ground, so he was much less likely to break his legs on the landing. So, what else to do but to bridge the rest of the way down. As he flew, Spinel channeled his aura forward; his hands of time reaching out and taking hold of the space ahead of him. He used his semblance to create a field of slow motion, then promptly slapping right into it. See, as time inside the field is slowed, the atmosphere inside can't displace in time to make room for Spinel. This in turn makes the sphere more like a solid wall than anything else. He proceeded to use his semblance to make a number of stepping stones leading down to the tree line. He slipped into the forest, but stayed high in the branches.
"A bit sloppy," He remarked, checking his surroundings. "but what can you do?"
Next, it was time to find his partner. Having seen his path, he knew to seek out Aue Matyas. His other teammates had already found each other, now it was time for him to double up.
"Alright lad, where are you?"
From what he had seen, Aue was a faunus; Lynx. Spinel turned his nose up to the air and took a deep breath. This way.
It seemed he had spoken too soon when he assumed that no one would be nearby to hear him. Sable nearly facepalmed as he heard a voice behind him, and turned around to try and identify the source of the voice, seeing a guy wearing a comfortable looking jacket and a rather interesting choice in hair style. Then again, with the styles some his sisters would try out, who was Sable to judge the guy? Regardless, he'd heard Sable's ramblings, which was... less then ideal. Oh well, better deal with it now rather then later, right? After all this was probably his new teammate now, best to try and salvage first impressions....
"A-ah, hello there!" Sable suttered, his cheeks heating up slightly as he waved at the stranger. "Um, don't mind me, I'm just yelling... at the Grimm... I sound absolutely insane right now, don't I?" Sable groaned and rubbed his face, wondering how this could get any worse then it already was.
Turned out it could, as the sound of wood breaking overhead was quickly followed by a shower of tree bark coming down on top of Sable in a flurry of brown. When it stopped Sable just... stood there, unmoving, his head and shoulders covered in bark as his ear began twitching like mad, a similar tick appearing in his eye as well.
"Sorry about that! It was an accident." A voice apologized from overhead. It sounded sincere, so Sable really couldn't be angry at them. And he wasn't angry anyway, just... frustrated at the situation, really.
After a few more moments of internal contemplation, Sable gave the voice from above a thumbs up. "All's good, I'm fine! Just... continue on with your day, find a partner and all that. I'm perfectly alright."
Without even brushing off Sable began walking again, the chips falling off as he approached the eavesdropper, to whom he bowed slightly and gave a small smile. "Hello there good sir, my name is Sable. Might I inquire as to your name, and how you are doing this fine day?" Sable said in a calm an collected voice. Whenever he got frustrated he defaulted to prim and proper, and he'd never figured out why. Maybe he never would.
