They're both nerds that flit about, and yeah, the spectacles are a plus. In his original incarnation Faraday is a clockwork mummy called a Xelor (it's a race/religion in the Wakfu universe, an MMORPG/anime- I made this OC years before I watched RWBY), so I figured round spectacles would be the best way I could achieve that kind of eyeless look from his helm.
Oobleck definitely reminds me of him too, down to the tea-drinking.
