the closest thing that has something akin to the skin you want would be a honey badger with their thick, flexible skin. so they can survive a few things without care like machetes, lion bites and other stuff.

Ahh, sorry bout that, I knew it was a long shot having a mythic faunus..

Indeed, he has not.

His trait was actually gonna be wings, and there was gonna be an explanation to that in my first post.

would he have snuck his way in as aura seems to be the basic requirement. Then again he comes from a tiny island suffering a population collapse given they get most of their kids killed

If he's an experienced fighter, there's no way his aura hasn't unlocked. Jaune's wasn't unlocked at the beginning of the series cause he cheated his way in without any fighting experience.

given he must have spent 2 years fighting grimm at the age of 5 to 7 he should have both unlocked

I'm more concerned about the Darwin Award winning tribe that makes the Spartans look civilized. How has his people survived at all up to this point?

Karcen Karcen Grimm is a negative. For the woods at least.

RedArmyShogun RedArmyShogun Mainly because it is pretty rare for the kids to actually murder each other at such a high degree. But you're correct, the history of his village did make the Spartans look civilized. Mainly due to the fact that they are from the dragons. That was the idea anyways.

Tiguidi Tiguidi in a normal case you would be correct, but the dragon tribe had no serious need for aura, especially since they didn't fight the Grimm all that often.

It depends on whose mythos you are using; eastern dragons are more known for wisdom and good tempers, than being fiery and family murdering. Which one Remnant leans towards is difficult to say as both examples are present, just not as Faunus.

RedArmyShogun RedArmyShogun I was meaning more.. Western. The fiery and war leaning mythos.

Fairfax Fairfax When they turn eighteen they start maturing and that's when the trait from the animal begins to show, it grows in fast, which is an extremely painful process. Often leading them bedridden, or, if a warrior, forces them to learn to deal with the pain. That's for the males of his species though.
Gozarth was going to get large wings.

grimm spawn everywhere and more often where there are negative feelings like in a forest where a bunch of 5 year olds are killing each other for 2 whole years. Really they must have no sense of direction given this island can't be very big .

that isn't how faunus characteristics work they are born with them they don't grow in its from day one

True, been a bit since I've watched the entire show, rewatching it now.

Like, I dunno, shooting in the dark since I know this isn't my place to say but while this idea sounds awesome on paper, it just doesn't seem like a RWBY character concept. The upbringing, the fact he doesn't have aura even after years of fighting, your take on the faunus' characteristics, it all seems separated from the established canon.

I agree with you on aura and such, but my take on faunus is very much inspired by the established canon. I knew I was firing a long shot by saying he didn't have aura, but the mythic faunus characteristics was an idea that I made a little while back, mainly based on the season witches. And the introduction of the gods.

i mean most if not all faunus story is rooted in their time as slaves and the racisim they face/ reaction to it. They never really were shown to have a tribal society even their current main home was kinda given to them over something they have had

and what do the season maidens have to do with the faunus they are just keys to the artifacts

True, though through the mythic faunus I had the idea of them having taught their way out of it. In a violent struggle.

It was the introduction of that kind of idea that gave me the thought that a mythic faunus could exist
They are the left over magic of ozpin They are not naturally occurring

Faunus gained freedom after their service in the great War so it was a violent struggle

I know they are leftover magic of Ozpin. I was only saying it was that idea that gave me the construct for the mythic faunus. It is also Ozpin himself, a leftover being from the past world.

Season nine was an interesting construct as well, allowing us to see that there are other worlds.

He is a body surfing soul only Salem has lived from the time of magic. The gods killed all life except Salem and the grimm. So I don't think the dragons would have survived or cone from another world

I'm talking constructs here, mate. Ideas. I understand that he was a body surfing soul that would incarnate into another living body once his current body is dead. And yes, I know that Salem was the only one that survived, mainly due to the dark waters. And I wasn't saying the dragon faunus came from another world, would be interesting. But no.

i think you mean concepts

salem survived because the gods cursed her to live forever the grimm goo was just a death attempt

Right sorry, to both. Once again. I only just watched the first seven episodes of season nine.
Concepts and Constructs, the words get me sometimes :/

But my pont is that the introduction of all these things just gave me the idea of the existence of mythic faunus being a possibility.
