Mainly because it is pretty rare for the kids to actually murder each other at such a high degree. But you're correct, the history of his village did make the Spartans look civilized. Mainly due to the fact that they are from the dragons. That was the idea anyways.

I agree with you on aura and such, but my take on faunus is very much inspired by the established canon. I knew I was firing a long shot by saying he didn't have aura, but the mythic faunus characteristics was an idea that I made a little while back, mainly based on the season witches. And the introduction of the gods.
i mean most if not all faunus story is rooted in their time as slaves and the racisim they face/ reaction to it. They never really were shown to have a tribal society even their current main home was kinda given to them over something they have had
