Futuristic Rules of Engagement: Section I

Lebowski waited for his chance to strike the enemy, and engaged in a full speed sprint as soon as the opportunity became clear. As the Deacon focused his attention on his less-seasoned companion, Lebowski launched himself from the ground, hitting the enemy hard enough to force the scumbag to miss his shot.

"Why waist good munitions, son?" His query appeared to have been cut short, as the Sergeant Major wrapped his left arm around the Deacon's helmet, acquiring a good grip before forcing the bastard's head around until his cervical vertebrae was on display to the rest of the world. As the Talakan sloped to the ground, Lebowski turned to his subordinate. "When you can do that?"

Making his way down the rocky perch was an interesting task to say the least, running along the edge as the battle commenced below he soon ran into another fanatic trying to find its own way down as it stood at the edge of a more slideable part of the perch. How convenient that they'd both find their way down mere seconds later as the Private leveled his gun and shot the fanatic over and rolling down the incline before he himself jumped off and hit the incline sliding down towards the battle, lining up whatever available shot he could get as he neared the bottom. And hitting the ground feet first he used the momentum and kept going, slamming into cover just as Marius' vitals showed on the side of his goggle a moment before he sounded the warning for Deacons, it didn't read badly but the fact was that it still read something. "Marius! How bad is it?" He called out over the comms, popping out of cover to open fire on a group of charging fanatics whose minds quickly changed about their plans as the last ones standing quickly took for cover, the Private opening up on any who dared show themselves as he moved closer to the rest of the squad.

"Lebowski, Secure that shield gauntlet. The engineers will want to look at that." Marius barked as data scrolled across his HUD, only to be voiced by none other than their homicidal AI.
"JST First Platoon has taken out the first gun and have hunkered down. I suggest we get into the fight and take out the other two. Now get up, You have people to hurt!" the AI barked over the squad's comms. This only brought a smile to the Major's face before looking towards Riktor, his helmet's speaker distorting his voice slightly.
"Second degree burns on the left shoulder. Burned straight through the armour plating. I'll live. Save the medkit for when we need it Private." He growled as the other members of Sigma Assembled in the corpse strewn outcrop. "Malevolent Intent, What's the terrain like around the second gun?"
"Satellite scans before the invasion reveal high cliffs surrounding a small box canyon where the AA gun is located with only one way in by foot. Images from the Spirit of vengeance show heavy opposition. Recommended course, hit them from the cliffs. Your Jumpjets should be adequate enough to scale the sheer face. I'll set a waypoint on your map. Look out for snipers." She replied with a psychotic giggle at the end.
"You heard the lady, Lets move it."

As she engaged other birdbrains along the way via throwing a few plasma casting rounds over where she assumed were hostiles, torching a pair of birdbrains who were paroling, and giving a very unlucky one a buckshot pie. Needless to say Lucienne was having a very good time causing some chaos out and about, it wasn't until she heard that the major was injured did she snap out of her little phase of making her way over to the rendezvous 'quietly'. She was then further relieved when he reported that he was okay "Major! If you die whose going to buy me those drinks when we get back?!" Shouting over the comms "im almost there." it was at this moment did she break from cover running toward where Marius and crew were did she stubble upon a small hunting party, presumably for the pods that fell. "well shit." She quickly turned to the twenty or thirty count party and let out a plasma burst from her left arm mostly to blind them and confuse them.

She then ran full sprint toward the rest of sigma with bird brain rounds flying all around behind her landing in front of her and beside her. once she reached the squad she came running around the corner, beneath her helmet there was a big grin. "Sorry for being late!" her voice was out of breath as she quickly turned around equipping her plasma caster. "i was all alone so I brought company with me!" in the perspective of the rest of the squad it would've seemed like Lucienne had popped up out of no where staggering about like a drunkard with highly flammable equipment.

Zurgus was caught in the open when Lucienne's followers appeared. "Chuk'ta" He swore in Tymerian before bringing up the devastator and firing full auto at the larger group. The high explosive rounds tore through the first three of the group and drove the rest to the ground or behind cover. As they began to return fire he powered up the jump jets and flung himself forwards. As he launched into the air he brought his shotgun out and aimed it at the enemy he was quickly approaching and fired once as he Goomba stomped the closest fanatic. He looked around and found he had landed in a explosion crater its charred walls providing him with cover. Zurgus propped the devastator over the rim of the crater and was about to fire when he saw something move in the corner off his eye. He spun around just in time to block the swinging blade with his arm-guard inches from his exposed chin. Zurgus pushed against the fanatic and shoved him back against the crater wall. They charged at each other, the fanatic lifting the blad high above his head and swinging down. Zurgus brought his heavy armoured fist up under the fanatics chin and sent him sprawling. Zurgus dropped down on top of him and hit him over and over again until he finally stopped fighting back. Zurgus sat for a second over the downed enemy and let out a long sigh. He started to reach for his shotgun. And then he heard the grenade land behind him.

Marius was fine, minor wounds in his opinion but Riktor made sure to adjust the goggles to keep Marius' vitals on screen just in case they began to spike or drop. And as he heard this, that crazed AI he'd seen and heard before was talking again, and mentioned their plan of attack on the next AA, then she stopped with a psychotic giggle. "So I understand that she's supposed to be a bloodthirsty AI with a thing for combat... But that just makes me question her circuitry more." He said with a shake of his head, but he was soon brought out of it with the sound of nearing gunfire and loud footsteps, well seems Lucienne had made her way here with quite the entourage. And first to take the challenge was Zurgus, and he seemed to be doing rather well, but far be it for the medic to leave these birds as prey for someone else. And so he stood up over his cover and began to open fire on the ones still out in the open, putting a few out of commission that Zurgus had merely knocked to the ground, the rest getting a bit wiser by this moment as the rest of Sigma began to open up... Seems rock-climbing would have to wait.

James didn't have much time to relish in his kill before a shot nearly took his head off, the sniper taking cover as he looked to find the fanatic that shot it. He spotted it, a sniper trying to pick him off first. "Clever," he thought, "For a birdbrain, that is." He took aim, dialing in the alien as another shot smashed into the rock he was behind. He opened up his comms, saying, "Hey Boss, we got a sniper here. I'm taking him out of commission, over?" He didn't wait for an answer, dialing the bastard in as he fired his sniper at the birdbrain, seeing the gauss trail as it rocketed towards the alien as it's eyes widened and it screamed briefly before it's brains exploded, James smiling as he said, "Two down, a couple million or so to go."

As the rest of the squad fire upon her dear followers Lucienne did the same with her plasma caster, laying the general direction of the birdbrains full of plasma taking out any possible cover there could be or at least trying to and basically making a complete mess of the place trying not to hit her lizard comrade. She backed up near her 'mates when rounds were getting close to her, pain or not she didn't plan on dying just yet, there were more things to fry and cook after all, although she started advancing forward when it seemed Zurgus was having a little too much fun without her. When a sufficient amount of the field was burnt to a crisp she holstered the almost overheated plasma caster on her back and switched to her shotgun to support the lizard boy giving a potential shooter of the flat faced reptile something that would make its face go inward then she took cover next to him just as the grenade landed. "Well ain't that a bitch?" Knowing her armor is more heat resistant than the others she got in front of Zurgus preparing to take the blow and hoping it was a high explosive and not a frag.

Zurgus heard Lucienne land next to him as he hefted the body of the fanatic onto the grenade. Then Lucienne Tackled him down and placed her body between him and the grenade. Then the crater was filled with smoke and fire. While the detonation only took milliseconds time seemed to slow. The fanatics body blocked most of the shrapnel but small peices still peppered their armour. Then they felt the shockwave, deafening them and and slamming them against the crater wall, followed immediately by the flame that singed the dirt and left a burn against the right side of his chin. Zurgus looked at Lucienne and tried to speak, but the ringing in his ear made it impossible. He lifted his arm and quickly typed a message on his datapad that would appear on her HUD. "Are you ok?" Zurgus looked around trying to get his bearings. He new the rest of the squad were somewhere to there rear and the enemies were pushing on there position. He ran a quick systems check and found he had minor thermal scarring on right shoulder plate but other than that his suit was running well. He looked over to Lucienne and waited for her response.

With a feral growl, Marius activated his combat skin's jumpjets, rocketing him over the battlefield and into the center of the hoard of Talakan Fanatics. The Illustrati Major became a whirlwind of death, as he cut, slashed and butchered any that were in range, the burns he had sustained prior only dumping fuel of the fires of his hate. Limbs, bisected bodies and black gore arced through the air, as lambent glowing crystalline shards peppered his armoured form only to ricochet into the attacker's allies. "Cut them down! Gut Them!" Marius bellowed, blood drunk on the chaos and death surround him. This of course was short lived as one of the cannon fodder managed a lucky shot. The crystalline shard sinking into the Paladin's exposed left shoulder. The Shredder round detonating a moment later, filling the wound with micro shrapnel. Whether the major felt it or not, wasn't of concern for the avian invader as the major let loose a blood curdling scream of rage, before pummeling the creature with it's own weapon, his left arm hanging limply by his side.

When the blast went off Lucienne was thrown off Zurgus and flew a feet or two onto the craters wall, her momentum causing her body to slide and spin about in a probably violent manner. She landed upside down with her tank of compressed gas keeping her in the air instead of falling down on the wall/ground. "uhh" There was a longing pain all along her side that she might or might not be reveling in for the brief period that it felt good, before she realized what had happened. Head ringing and staring up at her lizard comrade that she attempted to save she pushed herself down from her upside down position to a lying down one sighing. "I always am" giving a little chuckle before she then tried to get up, her muscles still aching she looked over cover to see their major not do major-y things. "Although he might not be" she casually gestured over to Marius having his fun with the rest of the birdbrains. Giving her limbs a feel to see if nothing was broken or too damaged, her HUD indicated that there were a few damaged parts mostly all on her leftside where most of the shrapnel dug in and where most of the force from the explosion came from. It didnt seem that bad and they had a medic so Lucienne didnt register her injury as much of a problem.

"Lets not let him have all the fun yeah?" She then used her jump-jets to go barreling down on a few more birb-brains however unlike Marius she let loose her plasma thrower incinerating or blinding any attempting to get a lucky shot in. However when it cam paramount that she was gonna be fighting near her teammates Lucienne poured more plasma around her in a cylindrical shape before stopping and switching to her shotgun and taking cover behind the cindered remains of birds and what not. Although she was almost shot but the shard ricocheted off her back as it was a bad angle for the unfortunate ash-pile.

Having been detached from his own unit following an investigation on another planet, Tu-Tebor was retasked to the Conclave Offensive with a similar Paladin squad. His maunder through the cosmos was relative to their placement, and HQ had already redirected navigation and his individual mission objective. A perturbation of annoyance swelled in his chest, displeased of his treatment in the corps. His most recent mission culminated in ambush, departing his comrades into the jungle's treacherous expanse. Tu-Tebor snatched an enemy vessel after a period of combat, and began observing the tangled swathes. There was nothing. Command abort the mission and forced him to adjourn the planet. That was a few hours ago. In that time, he established contact with allied vessels and was recounting the events in his mind.
Tu-Tebor was an adherent to a particular cultural group in the Paladin Program. These warriors were of reptilian nature, which in itself held many tribal counterparts, and who revered in their polytheistic beliefs of spirituality. This minor community were eventually acknowledged as the Ta'ring Regiment, though not officially recognized. They held their own societal rites, which generated slight diversion in the Paladin Project, though nevertheless, they all worked with the same efficiency.

Tu-Tebor cleansed his rifle, mumbled some mantras, took a moment to repose in meditation and overviewed important subjects the AI mentioned. After being granted admission to board the MRLN Spirit of Vengeance, Tebor rushed to rally with a superior - who newly adopted command of him once at presence.
"The fight is fresh, though tough. Your associates are in heavy combat with Conclave forces," they both marched, Tu-Tebor heeding every word with his helmet clasped to his side and head bowed in regard.
"We need to push, so you will be deployed further ahead, adjacent to enemy lines," he continued, now projecting a hologram from a pedestal in his right hand, "you will flank their outpost here, which will provide a foothold for our advance."
They closed in on the deployment bay after a brief ration of water and meat, where a remaining drop pod was present. Tu-Tebor strapped in over the officer's words.
"Your superior down there is Major Marius, those with the HK-74 Einharjar will be notified of your presence on the field. With Tii'kr blessings, reptilian."

Tii'kr is an astral guru venerated by some traditional reptilians.

Tu-Tebor bedecked his shoulders with traditional finery, adopted by his affiliation with the Ta'ring, it was a garb meant to promote good fortune and fierce spirit into the votary of the reptilian culture. Simply wreathing himself with it sparked a gild of determination and flicker of persistence. The officer and Tu-Tebor both salute one another before the launch pod detached from it's hold, and glissade through freefall from the ship. As the portentous-haunting, terrestrial symphony hissed through his intercoms, the cascading launch pad screeched overhead through the immediate atmosphere in a howling concerto. Many laid eyes on this, and AA tracers crossed the sanctum's path, though nothing could adhere to it's descent.
Ahead, it crashed with a hefty impact through snapping foliage and simmering grime. A Conclave force was sent to investigate and capture the Paladin, though at once, Tu-Tebor had already concealed himself within the dense vegetation of the woodland, and was already creeping to a vantage point.

They approached - there in smoldering ruins was his desecrated capsule. Their feathers rustled at it's sudden sparks and pangs of hissing hot metal. In the contractions that ensued, they encircled the crash site - unknowingly locking themselves out from reinforcement.
Tu-Tebor surveyed them with snake eyes and a horrifically-composed countenance. They stepped about the verdure, as Tu-Tebor slipped away in quietus to flank a distant outpost.
His only hope was that the Paladin soldiers knew of his arrival.

And there went Marius, he was a reckless bastard and Riktor hated that part of him yet admired it in a boyish way, at least he could berate the Liberas later when he gave treatment to the crystalline shrapnel now detected in the Major's left shoulder. The recklessness sure took out combatants but it also wounded the reckless. Then came the vitals of Lucienne and Zurgus, popping up with only minor wounds and mostly on Lucienne, knowing the masochistic Hell-Bringer from reading her medical files he knew she'd be fine.

As a Medic it was his duty to ensure casualties were kept to the minimum, in his idea, that was a big zero, and that required making sure wounds were kept a minimum as well and despite not liking the combat as much as his squad-mates, one would think with his next actions that a switch was suddenly flipped. Loading a new clip he rolled out of cover and charged towards the fanatics, a mere moment after Lucienne went flying out of the crater propelled by her jump-jets, then he began to come under fire, dropping to a roll as shards flew past him as he came up into a kneel, his jump-jets engaging as he aimed his back forward. And in the next moment he was sent propelling into a small cluster of fanatics, meeting one's chest barrel and blade-first taking it to the ground as he quickly recovered, and using the momentum rolled over the corpse, keeping the blade imbedded in it as he knelt and turned quickly, using the corpse as a shield as it fun peppered before Riktor began pulling the trigger, soon making a hole in the corpse and aiming at each fanatic in turn as the corpse was wrecked with holes. And he comes out better than his aggressors, only a clipped ear and a few winged armor pieces on his legs.

Lebowski was analysing the complexity of the device locked onto the arm of what had once been his adversary, now a lifeless corpse with a piece of bone attempting an escape from its neck. The Sergeant Major had never been too familiar with alien hardware. Messing with something he didn't understand could bring about an unexpected and untimely demise if one were to disregard any safety. So far, poking and prodding would have to do him for now, rather than risking wiping out the entire universe. Such a thing may not have actually been at risk, but Lebowski always thought over exaggerating would decrease his chances of dying tenfold.

When the Sergeant Major thought he was getting somewhere with his experiments, a Talakon popped out of nowhere before landing a stray shot to the side of his helmet. Lebowski could feel the heats inches from his cheek. He swore he could feel his skin peel away at such a temperature. The human stumbled, and the Talakon believed he had been provided with an opportunity to take out his target. But to the xeno's surprise, Lebowski had disengaged the lock on his helmet, and brought it round until it struck the alien straight across the face. The Sergeant Major followed up by throwing the smouldering piece of armour directly into the bastard's helmet. Shards of what had been a visor now broke free of their restraints and took to the skies.

As the Talakon fell, Lebowski found a good grip on the xeno's armour. He dragged his attacker until he found a nice piece of rebar to put between the alien's head and his torso. It's unarmoured neck was now bloodied and mangled from the sudden force of being impaled.

Zurgus launched out of the crater after Lucienne landing a few metres behind and firing high explosive rounds into the incoming enemies. As he got closer to Marius he saw the shards in his shoulder. "Major your hit." his arm hung limply by his side and blood was starting to flow. His eyes were locked ahead as he fired. Zurgus stowed his devastator over his shoulder and gently rested his hands on the Major's shoulders. "Sir, You have to stop and let the medic take a look". His tone was caring but firm and he would not take no for an answer even from the higher ranking officer. He looked around for the kid and saw him laying prone behind a downed enemy. He hit his suit ping that would signal to him and yelled out "MEDIC". He then turned back to Marius and stood in front of him his devastator at the ready. He would protect his commander. None shall pass.

Tu-Tebor trawled through the clart and gumbo. A trusty GSM-40 elevated at a horizontal angle across his chest. With sure ease, Tebor wade through the wallow, a rhythmic cadence of rifles and gunfire screamed forever on the horizon. Beside him, kindled herbage crackled, to which when the wind blew, the blaze unfurled with a gusting roar and Tebor shirked away, now prone, inching upon the shoreside. He crawled and pushed forward, masked and unnoticed. His entire visage was dirtied and bedaub with crud, which benefit as excellent camouflage. Tu-Tebor came up behind a boulder, where he squat down beyond and monitored a Conclave patrol yonder the treeline. A dripping of muck trickled from the brim of his helmet, brief droplets ignited by the soft, purple glimmer of his mask. His eyes tracked each one of them. Closer, and closer they came. Now close.
One of them spoke in a foreign tongue, to which the rest passed an idle glance as the feathered rogue paced to the boulder he was behind. Tebor shrunk behind, immersing himself in shelter. He listened with intent. A group of footfalls were marching away, the sound softly draining out toward a tumult of gunfire. The lone Conclave soldier was taking a piss on the rock. Tebor took on the brief shower with a locked jaw, and brows furrowed. Then once there was silence... Tebor slipped steadily around with leisure, revealing the back of the Conclave. Tebor prowled for a moment, before instigating his attack. The little Talakan shithead squawked for a brief instant, though was hushed by strangulation. Tebor dragged it's squirming body behind the rock, then stanced himself over the soldier, pinning the Talakan into the grit. His arms remained choked around the soldier, which allowed Tebor to fall at an angle and conclude the Peruvian Necktie. Tebor forced his might into this, which climaxed with a muffled pop. Their frame went limp, they lulled to one side and the air left their body with a shrill whistle.
He checked over their body, looting for valuables and the odd sort. Only identification papers and a family portrait, neatly folded into the soldier's pocket. Amidst other things, there was nothing of importance, and Tebor moved on, quickly sailing through the distance between both treelines. The fighting grew ever more fervent, and he knew he was on course.
Only a short distance away, and he'd make it to the outpost.

The battle ensued for but a moment longer, when the last fanatic hit the rocky soil, it's black ichor pooling around it and into the earth. Clutching his now badly wounded arm, Marius wheeled around and smashed his elbow into Lucienne's face, glaring balefully into his subordinates eyes. "The next time you endanger your brothers sisters, I will fucking end you myself..." The major growled before making his way over to the private to get his shoulder patched up.

"There's no saving the arm Private. The shrapnel has shredded it far beyond repair. Just give me a dose of bio-gel and something to dull the pain." He said in a surprisingly calm demeanor. Normally a soldier would be panicking or hysteric at the notion of losing a limb, but one look at the major's posture, spoke of acceptance and finality. "Now hurry up! We've got AA guns to destroy. Lebowski, I gave you an order! Secure that shield..."

And just like that, The major was back to business.

And then the last of them went down, no more damned bird-brains to kill for the moment, and so he caught his breath as he still lay behind his makeshift cover, at least until his HUD showed Zurgus' ping and him calling for one. He quickly looked over to them just in time to see Lucienne get an elbow to the face from Marius, who berated her and soon headed his way. And so Riktor set down his weapon and got the Medkit, placing it on the ground and opening it as the Major began to speak, he had feared that, but the fact was once they got back to proper facilities they could replace if not fix the arm. And thus grabbing the container of bio-gel he took the application device and began putting it on, focusing on his work as he in turn talked to the Major. "Sir, if I were asked what Lucienne would have done with such a big force behind her, I still would have wished for her to bring it to the rest of us. If only because I'd prefer wounds were sustained near me to allow for treatment." He said with a soft tone, finishing the application of the gel and putting it back as he grabbed a cylindrical device with a dial on its side and a button on top for injection as he adjusted the dial, before pressing it against a less-damaged part of the Major's shoulder, pressing the button as the painkilling cocktail was injected into him. "That'll null the pain and tighten your muscles in the area to keep the shards from doing anymore damage until we get you back to proper facilities." He spoke while setting the injection device back into its place in the kit, closing it up as he looked back at the Major, then to Zurgus. "Major, don't do anything as reckless as that anymore on this mission or I'll have Zurgus and Lebowski temporarily detain for medical purposes. I already have to help replace an arm, don't make it worse Sir. And Zurgus, I expect you to keep our CO as intact as possible." He had the slightest tone as he said this, one of warning as his eyes said the rest. Then packing the Medkit properly onto his person and grabbing his weapon he began walking.

But one more thing required mentioning, a name had appeared on his HUD earlier during the battle, a new set of unfamiliar vital signs somewhere closer to their objectives, and so he looked back to Marius.
"And sir, it would appear there's a new piece on the board. Seems the ship sent down another Paladin."

A GSM clattered by his waist, fastened to the holster of his buckle - this brawny strap leashed to his belt allowed for quick armament when reversing to combat. In his right hand, Tebor wield an inwardly-curved blade, similar to a machete, and stalked his objective through the bushes. There it was. In all its radiant galore.
This outpost had been established as not only a communications or early-warning radar, but a garrison to fortress reserve troops. Tebor would fail against a platoon of warriors. He understood that wit and guile was the procurement for victory. Tebor clenched his fist around the hilt, eyes staring, squinted at the outpost. There were two towers - each composing of an MG nest as well as the front gate. Stationed outside were two mechanized units for transport, well as a squad on the defence. Tebor concluded the remainder of their forces were within the checkpoint. At that moment, obscured by the bushes, he pondered to himself, glancing about the reinforcement troop. Then his scheme encompassed a detail of confusion and shock to the enemy. There were four grenades to his disposal, laced around his chest in a bandolier. They ranged from a single smoke, flash and two fragmentations.
A soft ring was the predecessor to a sudden lump of metal landing after the first installment of sandbags, almost instantaneously a broad sweeping haze engulfed the front gate. A group of three fanatics charged through the fog with bayonets primed into the murky thickness - hoping to snare the aggressor. Tu-Tebor was patient, until they aligned before him in a single column, at combat spread. They seemed bewildered as their charge lessened to a halt, with no indication of Tebor. With abrupt fashion, a rich clank and funnelled thwip skimmed through the air. The projectile smashed through the windscreen of a jeep, and promptly detonated. Through this instance, they slowed and turned, but Tebor had suddenly pounced from the louring flora already. A stiff knee to the ribs from an above apex, drilling the fanatic into the ground as Tebor choked his left hand around the back of their neck. Immediately delivering a swift kick to the temple as he pranced back up. Their friend had just about noticed his figure - though Tebor found his way to them first. A tackled embrace, with his left palm compressed to the soldier's mouth, and a razor-sharp edge boring itself into his neck. Tebor swung them around, with the momentum, his blade slashed a gaping laceration that wheezed out spatters of a crimson flow. They were slung into the dirt, as Tebor span he barged the final soldier in the pelvis with his shoulder. A few rounds spilled over his head, and a sudden engagement from the MG nests tore up the terrain around them. It was inaccurate - they were dazed. Now both soldiers were with the procumbent, wrestling over each other, inching toward the bushes. Tebor straddled their torso once sufficiently concealed by the flaming skeleton of the humvee. Though brief spasms of gunfire culminate the air - they never came close. Tebor broke the fanatic's jaw with his own rifle, knocking him unconscious. Through the confusion, those stationed had detached to pursue Tebor's last known location. Tu-Tebor had circled around them, first tossing a stun grenade equal distance between both towers, then storming the gate with a flanking gambit.
A spray of controlled gunfire incapacitated three guards and killed two. Above, his adversaries yelled in anguish and disarray. Tebor manned the closest machinegun, slaughtering a portion of the detachment with whom the rest deserted in shambles. Intoxicated with adrenaline, Tebor clambered the mast of conjoined rope, pausing briefly to squeeze the trigger and expel molten lead at the farthest tower. Their silhouettes dropped, one span and wailed. As Tebor mount the ledge, both inhabitants lunged at him. Tebor swung to one side to which his assailant tripped and fell from the tower, as he came around, his knife caught the other on their hand, cleaving a chunk out of it. They cawed out in agony as Tebor dragged them with his impetus. They toppled as Tebor swung himself over the barrier - revealing the entire outpost in disorganized chaos. His boot fell with force on the fanatic's head, splitting their skull and marking the last stand.

Tebor was engaged in combat with the enemy. A lashing whip of gunfire spat about him, chipping quarry from the cliff and richly clattering with the rocks. A fissuring skirl whizzed past him, which jabbed at his balance. He issued the usual state of protest, by leavening his rifle above cover and firing in sporadic bursts down below. Tebor reloaded his assault rifle, though instead utilised the machinegun stationed in the post. With a caterwauling screech of bloodlust, Tu-Tebor fired with tenacity at the crowd of uniforms below. A few shots caused him to retreat slightly, afterwhich a grenade rolled into the windowed bunker. He threw this one back out just as another came forthwith - he did the same thing as before. Though only a moment after he tossed their second grenade back at them, a third had erupt just outside his grasp. This force hammered him back, causing him to slump against the barrier in shock. The wind had been knocked out from him. An enemy ascend the frontier beside him, though was quickly ousted with two shots from a Talakan shredder. Another, adjacent threatened him, though collapsed with a crack through his skull.
Tebor caught some breath, standing and vaulting the barrier onto a ramshackled rooftop. Two Conclave fighters closed on him, and two Conclave fighters fell. Another four were injured and three killed. A spectacular finale ushered in the scorching swelter of the ground level. A fuel depot had been lit aflame and blew up in the fray. It had demolished every tent in it's vicinity, and partially demolished a building. Most Conclave present were screaming in agony or laid in dormant silence. Tebor dropped to the center, stepping through the carnage and picking off his last targets before solemn-walking to the rooftop - where he engaged IR smoke to conceal the position, and green smoke a farther distance away to signify his comrades of allied territory. A successful capture.

Tebor shrunk from the open, pacing to the dilapidated radar tower, spoofing the controls to his command. Once Squad Sigma met with him here, he would set the alarm at this outpost - hopefully causing some of the battery at the AA to investigate. This diversion would prove an easier takeover, which would allow the JSTs to clear out the remainder below. Tu-Tebor would only hope this worked, as he set about looting and refurbishing his wounds with bio gel. He holstered his knife, crouched over some documents near an ammo pile and sipped some rations of water.

These documents were meant to be delivered to the stage of AA cannons. They observed instructions to manage the facility, detailing the location of a command room. Tu-Tebor would have to hand these over to Major Marius, as a possible HVT was present at the complex ahead.

When all was done and gone Lucienne was about to go take a look at the major's wound only to find his elbow on the face of her helmet, it didnt hurt unfortunately but that gave Lucienne a little chuckle as he tried to berate her. Taking off her helmet and looking at the injured major with her own two eyes not really feeling angry nor overtly satisfied she began to point out a few things all the while giving him a smirk "you said leave none alive" she shrug as the medic gave him some gel. "anyways we got most of their guys who were sent to find us." Putting her hands to her hips just as the IR smoke was visible to the group. "And it looks like it helped someone out jusssst fine" she looked over to the direction where the smoke was coming from then frowned when she turned around to Marius. "Although.."

"What kind of fucking 'commanding officer' puts himself in danger like that?! You are a vanguard yeah but you're supposed to be an example to the new guys" she then pointed at her teammates, specifically the medic but the rest also counted with the exception of Ky and Lebowski. "i would've expected a light orbital bombardment request or a withdrawal from you." she left out the counterattack option which she also guessed but since it happened it was moot. "but noo the commanding officer had to go into the enemies faces risking his life to what could've been a safe and smooth withdrawal, the boys above could've also helped, AA ain't gonna catch ship guns from orbit" Lucienne stared at Marius's beady black eyes before putting on her helmet again and turning around muttering "uptight asshole" to herself.

To be honest Lucienne had flashbacks of her first deployment in Arcturas V, when her commanding officer died and everything went to shit. Of course thats what happened when there were few to no veterans and the new guys happen to have three others and some who are qualified officers too should Marius hit the hay. She wasnt mad or upset at him berating her in front of everyone but it left her a bitter taste in her mouth that their commander did something reckless while having all that responsibility and people riding on his shoulders. She was starting to sound like a hypocrite but her defense was that she wasnt commanding a squad of her comrades nor does she want to.

(*ahem* i wrote this at school and on two hours of sleep so tell me if i got anything wrong <3)

Zurgus let out a low growl and started walking towards the objective. He nodded at the medic as he past but did not slow. "Copy that lead next time we see an enemy squad well just run at them and hope we don't die. Back up is overrated anyway." With this last comment he brought up his arm data pad and check his suit cams and data feed where still working before bringing the map up on his HUD. The IR smoke gave off a faint signal that showed on the map. The signal was coming from what appeared to be a small outpost and a faint friendly IFF tag was showing. Zurgus broke into a slow jog as he slipped his shotgun from his shoulder and reloaded the shells. He racked the shotgun and started to sprint.

Terrans. Always fighting. Bloody Terrans.

No matter how hard he looked, Lebowski could never find out how to remove the gauntlet. It wasn't as simple as breaking a lock or anything like that. Xenos always loved to overcomplicate things, no matter how simple the tool was. And no matter how hard he tried, Lebowski wasn't getting anywhere.

"I guess we'll just have to use excessive force, then." Lebowski grabbed the xeno's corpse by it's lifeless, still hand. He adjusted his grip to the wrist. At this point, he forced his mechanical muscles to work. He pulled on the carcass's arm until it finally came straight off with a geyser of blood. "The package is secure. I hope you enjoy the added bonus."

During the briefing upon the deployment ship Zoka had remained silent towards the cockpit of the aircraft. Not one for conversation before an important battle her presence was washed out by the chatter of the others. Once the command to strap in for pod launch was given she clicked the carbon fiber clasps into one another securing her shoulders against the interior pod, with a grunted lean she pulled the hatch closed with the launch proceeding shortly after. The brief moments of complete solace inside the pods was always just enough time to collect her thoughts before a battle. However her silence was suddenly interrupted when her HUD lit up bright red // WARNING: TRAJECTORY OFF COURSE a small hiss of annoyance escaped her lips as the Pod spiraled off course, upon contact her head slammed against the back of the Pod's seat, it wasn't enough to Jar her brain but was sure enough to hurt like hell.

The once illuminated window of the pod was now completely black. Where she had landed she'd only find out once she secured her position. With a momentary click alongside a swift and powerful kick she had unbuckled her 8-point harness and watch as the pod door slammed against a rocky surface and tumbled uncontrollably down a rocky wall into a bottomless pit. She hadn't even heard the sound of the door hit the ground yet. As she stepped towards the edge of the pods opening she looked down... as expected nothing but blackness all the way down. She adjusted herself inside the pod and looked up; a hole where the pod had entered the cliff side, allowing a bit of natural light to shine in, wasn't much help though seeing how it was night time.

The pod creaked under her weight and in the next moment she found herself fisting the cliff wall as she watched the pod disappear into the abyss as well. Hanging like a marionette on the cliffside she quickly pulled her weight upwards. She could hear distant gunfire as she continued to climb, no doubt the rest of the squad had already landed carving a path of corpses towards the objective. Every now and then she could hear bits and pieces of what was being said over the comms but it wasn't until she was at the cusp of the hole her pod had made that everyone's voice began coming in loud and clear. She pulled herself up and out sitting on top of a cliff before brushing the dirt off the Poleyn of her armor. Luckily her weapons were still firmly holstered and suffered no munition or firepower loss.

She kneeled down placing a hand on the edge of the cliff overlooking the entire area, this had been a lucky spot for the Pod to land and would give her and her squadmates the 1-up on the enemy seeing how they couldn't be flanked anymore. Her HUD lit up scanning the canyon, it highlighted her squadmates but more importantly revealed every single enemy in the canyon to the rest of Sigma Squad, even ones dug down into trenches. Nowhere was safe for the enemy down there now. She allowed herself an amused laugh before taking her lighter out of it's pouch, and the blunt from her ear before lighting it with an electrical stream current. Clicking the lighter closed and putting it away, she took a long drag before snuffing it out on her boot.

She brought her modified GSM-40 with a NV-72 scope to the front of her person, shifting it's weight in her hands and effortlessly cocking and arming the weapon, placing the scope into her eye. She watched as Marius tore through the battlefield before turning her mic on.

"Sigma 8 confirming location. You guys should see a lot of enemies highlighted down there. I got lucky when my pod went off course and landed up on one of the cliffsides. It's impossible to rendezvous until you guys get closer there are enemies all around, and we've got a good vantage point. Requesting new orders, over."

The last part was a bit of an exaggeration but truthfully she couldn't see any enemies if they were on the other side of her cliff. She continued to watch Marius for a moment before moving her eye to the other squadmates.

"And uh... Major... you might want to take it easy, we actually need you alive this time."

She hoped that brought a smile to his face.

With the 'package' all secured, Lebowski was now double-timing it to whether the rest of his unit decided to hole up. He remembered how easy it was to fight these guys back in the day, when the weren't such a major threat to galactic security as they were now. Lebowski had known rookies come in fresh and go out frozen. It seemed as if the numbers of casualties was only rising these days.

"This is Lebowski. Approaching your location, watch your fire. Avoid shooting at my head, if possible. Out." Without a helmet anymore, Lebowski was now eligible for the 'One Shot, One Kill' scenario. He'd have to be careful, else he too would be going home all frosty too. He didn't desire a closed casket funeral.

Marius could feel the pain lessen to a dull throb as the pain killers flooded his blood stream, the Bio-gel creating a synthetic skin to stop the flow of his cobalt blood. Getting to his feet, the Major looked about at the assembly of Paladins, in a field of corpses. "Takahn, Ostrogo, Yayanara, Itera, rondevous with Corporal Tebor. Lieutenant, you are team leader. Make sure they come back alive." He said over his comms, before turning to the others. "The rest of you are with me. We'll converge on the third gun when Yayanara's team destroys the outpost. After that, If we survive, first rounds on me." The Major said with a bit of a jovial tone, partly being the pain drugs talking. Hefting his GSM-40, He began making his way towards the second gun. "Reese, you have point. Move out."
