Good day everyone,


I've been Roleplaying for many years and have always been intrigued by the direction a RP goes given who I'm writing with. I would say, on top of the obvious enjoyment of reading/writing, the number one reason I enjoy RP so much is because of this diversity. I never know what or how my partner will respond to my post. Many times I've had a certain idea in my head, as to how a scene would play out, and my partner has blown me away with something that never even crossed my mind. I just love this!

Haha *dusts confetti out of hair* Nice to meet you Kes. Genres... I have to choose?? I'm honestly open to all genres. I'd say, even as close as two years ago, I was closed off to certain genres/subjects... but then I gave them another try and voila... a new piece of writing re-invigorated those genres for me, so honestly I'm open to anything... Having said that... What I lean toward would like be romance mixed with adventure mixed with suspense mixed with fantasy mixed with sci-fi mixed with world creation mixed with.... YEAH, Okay okay!!! I can't choose!!! But that's a short list I suppose :) What about you? What wets your whistle?

I think we enjoy RP for pretty much the same reasons; it's definitely the unexpected twists and turns that keep things exciting!

Generally, I think I just like making characters. I have quite a collection and I like weaving their stories and making them fit with one another. So world building, in a sense. Role-play wise, I like reacting and interacting with others!

Yes... that is definitely world building. I have an idea for a story that involves 10 survivors from earth... I wonder if we could put something together using your character idea's and my plot? Do you have a link or something to your character's?

Now then, I know that you have to answers that you're wanting answered now and the first is, you can join any RP that is open. You can find the different RP genres here: Roleplays | RpNation.com - Best Roleplay Forum


They're set up by genre so if you're looking for that Belgariad fandom RP (sorry, none yet exists here) then you'll know you aren't going to be looking in the futuristic genre. Each genre has an interest check at the top of the page and you can peruse this to see if anyone is wanting to create an RP.


If you are trolling the RPs and you just gotta make your own futuristic version of the Elenium, then you can pick the genre (future or fandom? I don't know!) and create an interest check. In the interest check you can tell the whole world about your RP and what you want to do with it. If you get enough people to say Aye! then you create your RP.


Do NOT under any, uncertain circumstances create an interest check in the RP forum! Make sure that you create your interest check in the interest check forums! If you create an interest check in the RP forums then you have just created an RP and all the threads that go along with that. Then administration has to go through and delete all those threads. That is a hassle and a pain in the rear so please make sure that you are posting an interest check in the interest check forums ONLY. I love fantasy best, but the few modern and fandom roleplays I've been in, I enjoyed immensely. I'm still relatively new to RPing, so I'm willing to try just about anything at least once.

Hey there, Vanity, and welcome! I'm Never.


You mentioned adventure and sci-fi, and that you had an idea with survivors of Earth, and I was wondering if that would be compatible with a plot idea I have and if it would be something you'd be interested in.


Basically, the idea is that there is a species, called the Shiekin, and there is a group (maybe a political group, or a religious sect) of them that consider the gathering and use of knowledge to be the purpose of life. This has been the case for many years, and upon reaching adulthood, each individual chooses a specific skill or area of study that they will then devote their lives to understanding and putting their learning to use. However, there has recently been a shift to where this was discouraged, and finally forbidden. The remaining scholars met in secret and devised a plan to locate a habitable planet, load up a ship with supplies, and evacuate there until the political climate was safe for them again. However, their plans were leaked to the Myhtra (sort of like the Thought Police, which is scary because they are naturally telepathic and thought is a large part of communication) and they had to leave much sooner than they intended and with limited planning.


They struggle to find a habitable planet, but finally manage to find one and land on it. This planet is Earth, but there are no humans and haven't been for a couple decades (I have no idea how long, just guessing here. It's been long enough that most things are in a state of ruin, but not to the point that they're unrecognizable). The roleplay would be about the struggle for survival (unfamiliarity with plants and wildlife, trouble with climate, etc.), their attempts to understand what sort of culture lived here before them and what happened (especially their understanding/misunderstanding of humans, since they have no previous knowledge of them), and trying to build a new society.


Perhaps the humans you mentioned somehow survived whatever removed the rest of humanity, and could then interact with the aliens (whether on friendly terms or hostile, maybe some of both) as they try to learn about one another, find out what happened, etc. It is likely that both groups would need the other's help, but it also likely that there would be a lot of fear and suspicion between them. Does that sound like something that would work with your idea or something you'd be interested in?

I'm new as well to the site but have some experience elsewhere. I agree with you - RPing gives a twist to writing that is quite fun, which is why I'm trying again to get involved.


While I can't PM yet (new people rules and all that) I would be interested in trying something with you!

I do like this idea... maybe we can come up with some sort of prompt in PM? I'm still not quite sure how to start a RP here... my 24 hour 'newbie' thing just lapsed, so now I get to explore more about the site!
