Fandom (RP) Avatar: The 100 Year Abandonment

Beau eyed closely as Aika spoke. "Run," she said. His eyes widened as he realized why. In the sky, huge balls of flame came hurdling towards the village, definitely stemming from some sort of ship or base. Assuming it was fire, Beau rose his hand to push back one of the giant blocks headed his way, and only put out the flame over the rock. The boulder still had it's trajectory fixed on where he stood, and there was little time to dodge it even if he wished too. He stood there, bracing for the impact, but suddenly, the boulder returned to its sender. Someone had deflected it. Glancing back at where Aika had been, and the group that'd surrounded her, he pieced together that it'd been the Earth nation girl, who stood as if she were meditating, while giant boulders of rocks returned to the ships, though some still hit the small village.

"Evacuate the village!" Beau began, but easily let Makato take the lead once she'd began her warnings. It sounded like he knew what she was doing. For him though, he'd be useless staying in the village. He turned his eyes to the fleeing princess, thinning as he focused them on her. Beau brought his hands up to his lips, and through the holes in the stampeding villagers, Daizo the Komo-Dragon wove through to its master. In one swift motion, Beau leaped, and set himself aright on the moving steed, and carried on with it's momentum towards the princess, shoulders low, and hands on the animal's crown.

Princess Aika only had 3 of her men on her, Beau had counted before her rude exit. He had faith in his bending, and hoped he could capture the princess before any more reinforcements came in. Hold her for ransom in return for released Earth villages. It was a rough plan, but he hadn't been expecting to see any of the Fire Nation present, and hadn't planned if. The princess had already gained distance, but in her walking, and Daizo's charge, Beau was able to catch up with her just outside the village.

In a series of grunts, and gibberish, Beau had transferred orders to Daizo, who's running increased to a charge. His horns lowered for impact. Beau leaped from the steed, grabbing the dual katana on the side of it, and landed on his feet in a graceful backwards flip. Daizo charged into two unknowing guards of princess Aika, knocking the men forwards several feet. It was plausible that they'd been knocked out, but Beau still had their locations in his peripheral view, just in case. With Aika, and her one remaining guard, the rogue soldier readied his weapons, and set his eyes dead on the princess.

"What you did in the village was a disgusting act Princess Aika. Now I must punish you. Excuse your guards, for they will not be at my mercy." He said calmly. "I've faced the wraith of the Fire Nation all my life. You will not take away the lives of those people."

There was the fist-sized rock that broke off from the deflected boulders, trickling of oil and flame among the roofs but through the efforts of the water bender and the others getting people clear it seemed at least nobody was seriously hurt, which was for the best since keeping this up forever wasnt much of an option...she had ensured not a single one struck the village, but for how much longer she couldn't be certain. Fortunately, though she would not have to persist much longer as the disappearing of two of the offending vessels beneath the wavers, another capsized and the rest making a retreat had them stop the rest of the firing for their own safety to preserve what little they had left...with over cramped boats from those that had been pulled from the waves littering the decks.

The cost of the ships, the crew, the supplies and vast array of equipment now sleeping in the wreckage was far beyond what they could possibly have hoped to gain from the small market village, though the damage to the pride of the fire nation was perhaps the most costly of all, educating them that not all would be taken without a fight, that the village was there and it was defended...and when the news spread it would also surely bolster the spirits of many an earth nation citizen seeking to defend their own homes from such aggressions. The final injury to the entire situation would be the lack of escort awaiting the returning party at the harbour when they finally arrived. Back within the village, the scene was starting to calm down, with no more bombs on their way Ila could only maintain her stance for several seconds to make sure it was clear before rolling off the roof and onto the ground with some exhaustion..smoke still coming off her fingers she rushes to plunge them in a nearby water barrel to perhaps reduce the burning sensation.

"Is.....everyone....ok? I think they stopped.....The fires.....Ill help.....in a ....in a moment" doing her best to get some composure from the sudden rush it was though heartening at least to see other villagers also putting out th small fires before they became to great, others peering through the windows of buildings they took shelter in, though one appeared to be mourning the contents of a wagon filled with some sort of leafy produce, shouting its name over and over again.

Aika turned around to see two of her men flying across the field.

So... the traitor had decided to fight... he was a fool.

She turned around to face the man standing infront of her with his sword drawn.

She heard her remaining soldier beside her go to pull his sword out to defend his princess.

Aika gently raised her hand and her soilder stopped and slid the half drawn sword back into it's sheath.

She then gently lowered her hand and glared over at the filth standing infront of her, with her hot, glowing blue eyes.
"You should head back and help the villages. I'm giving you a chance to leave with your life."

She knew he wouldn't move. His own stupidity would kill him... and by the looks of his scars... It already almost had.

She slipped off her gloved revealing the scaring on her left hand that was obviously from fire.
She looked down at her hands with a disturbing amount of peace and calmness.
She then looked over at the rouge and smiled. It was a smile that only death would recognize.

"You know... I wouldn't have burned the village if it wasn't for you and that tall girl... but know this, Traitor..."

She tilted her head slightly to the left and a cold grin came across her face.
"I now have a new hobby... and you just so happened to hurt some of my hunting party."

With that she through her hands down creating a massive smoke bomb to cover everywhere around her and her remaining men.

Once the smoke was clear they where gone without a trace of where they had gone.

Reina soon found herself walking along the beach with the water gently running over her feet.
It made it difficult to see but she enjoyed the coolness on her as walking so fare had started to take it's toal with the sun kissing her skin.

She suddenly stopped in her tracks when she smelt an all to familiar smell.
Smoke.

Reina got her staff and pushed it hard into the dry sand and her eyes widened when she was able to get a bit of a visual what was under the water.

Crap!!!

It was an anchor! It was touching the bottom of the sand in the water and although she couldn't tell how far it was as it was a quite distorted image she received, but she knew the anchor was big... and big ment it wasn't good.

She quickly ran off the beach hoping no one saw her.

That's when she heard it...

Two male voices coming from infront of her.
She stopped running and knew she had to play blind.
She was blind but she had to make it known she was actually blind.

One of the men walking towards her noticed her and grinned.
"Lee... check it out. Pretty little blind girl's got herself lost."
He laughed but it wasn't out of fun... It was out of spite.

The other fire nation soilders that was called Lee saw her and scrunched his nose up at her.
"Pretty? Are you saying some useless, Earth girl is pretty? Maybe for a bit of fun I guess."
He laughed and then the two of them walked over to Reina.

The other shoulder grabbed her by her long, free black hair and yanked her close to him by it.
"Yeah. Guess we could see if she's useless at everything."

Reina restrained herself... but she wanted to draw their blood all over the sand.
How many innocent women had they done this to?

No... She would wait it out a little longer... play the innocent victim until they had all their guards down...

She liked being underestimated. It made the fighting more fun.

"Please... don't hurt me..." She tried to pull away from the man and added in a little shaking.

Yeah... playing innocent had started to become all too easy. Lieing to the fire nation had become like second nature.

Saara continued helping put out as many fires as he could with the water he could find, in the moment upset that he couldn't generate his own water in the same way firebenders could generate fire. But there wasn't time to dwell on that now, he had to help. Saara kept looking up to see if the fireballs were still falling but they had seemed to stop. "No more new fires at least," he said to himself as he headed over to find a fresh water supply.

Saara came across a barrel with the tall woman soaking her hands in it. "Sorry but I may need to borrow some of this," he said politely as he used some of the water to help put out fires that were near them. As he did this he gently congratulated her. "Good work deflecting those fire balls. God knows we'd be in a lot more trouble if you hadn't done that"

Makoto noted Akia barely reacting to her running of to help the villagers. Admittedly the other firebender and earth bender were more dangerous and priority targets to focus but still... Makoto still could not help feel hurt and even more concern about the sudden change in her sister. However he could not think about that now, they were injured that might need her help.

She went about helping those she could. Luckily most injuries were minor thanks to the earth benders deflections, shr treated a few with cuts and scrabes with some torn fabrics and herbs from the market. Her medicine was not as quick as healing bending but would do the job eventually and most people she helped were appreciative. No one seemed to mention she was with the enemy as she feared.

She saw the earth and water benders start to talk and she just listened as she worked. She was not sure how they viewed her and thought best than assume one way or another. She would wait for them to approach her and react accordingly. If they saw her as friendly she would be so, if hostile well she planned for that too. She was no bender but she had a few tricks up her sleeves.

Beau's eyes were set dead on the princess. She'd ordered her henchman to sheathe his sword, she was arrogant. He would show her better than to underestimate him. While Aika spoke, Beau hadn't moved an inch. He stood unnaturally statue-like, awaiting a move he would return with a swift counter and attack of his own. But that never came. The princess' evil smile sent chills down Beau's spine, truly so. So much so that he was frozen in his position, and the smoke bomb didn't help. He gasped, and forced himself to move, but the slashing of his sword caught no flesh.

Beau stood in place as the smoke cleared, and even the fallen soldiers had disappeared with Aika. His screams would be heard in the village, anger and sorrow expressed in his voice. Beau sheathed a single katana, and with the other, brought it up to his left palm. He closed his palm over the blade of the palm, and looked further into the distance of the path. "I will find and kill you, Princess Aika. The next time you will not be so lucky. I swear it!" He promised, and with that, whistled for Daizo's appearance. The komo-dragon grunted in his arrival, and carried Beau back to the village. He was paranoid now, and looked for anyone that might be another spy, like Aika was disguised. Any that was disguised. That was when he realized.

Beau brought his katana up under Makato's chin. Daizo had wandered off to eat somewhere else, and the happiness of surviving had distracted plenty of the crowds. No one paid much attention to him and her now. "Tell me everything you know." He ordered slowly, moving his off hand onto her back to sense any sudden motions. At this point, Beau would slaughter anybody that crossed him, and seemed vaguely associated with the fire nation. Makata would likely feel the coldness on his left hand on her back, and the dripping sensation of his blood on her clothing. He hadn't time to patch himself up yet.

Getting her breath the woman pulls back her hands showing the red and raw hands, starting to bind them up the best she can with a clean rag, she nods trying to keep a smile as she turns to the waterbender "Thanks....I should have seen this coming the moment they showed up, ive heard before....they take everything then burn the place at least this way they don't have anything and the place is still standing. I wasn't really sure if i could but....guess im lucky they were used earth" going to rub the back of her head nervously before wincing as her hands feel the pressure.

"But now i guess its cleaning up and making sure nobody gets missed...they might come back so i guess erm.....maybe work on getting organized for that?.... Then again this is....all kind of new to me, but well some people use logs and pits for hunting so maybe that could work against the spikey armoured guys?" as she continues she turns her head slightly, a large lumbering dog like creature coming from around the corner to drop a soldier into one pile, and dragging the villagers unable to move to another "Giri! Good Boy!......" the creature turning and panting towards them before bounding up to lick their face, towering over even Ila as it does so

By that point, she worked on another injured villager, bandaging a wound after applying her herb. Than she felt a presence behind her than cold steel touch her neck. The blade just digging into her neck a little proving its sharpness with a little blood trickling down her neck. She paused remaining quiet for a few moments assessing the situation. "That might take a while I know many things, a bit of scrollworm you know. I also there are others that my medical attention." She said calmy with an unconcerned turning her head slightly so she could just about see it was the firebender.

Meanwhile on hand slow slipped toward a secret compartment of her robe where she had one of her Sai."So if you can be more speak or better yet wait until after I am done here..." She said before trailing of feeling the hand on her back making her pause the moment of her hand. "You hurt too, let me finish with him and I can look at you as well. I will tell you what I can than." Her tone was serious and there seemed to be genuine concern for him in her tone and eyes.

He was looking up at the strange sight, of the ship, when he noticed movement out of the corner of his eye. He looked towards the movement and saw a band of fire-benders appearing on the beach. It looked like they were wearing armor, was this an attack? His eyes darted to his sister, she looked like she was still enamored with the ship. He clicked his tongue and began moving quickly, causing the boat to rock and water to move around them. He soon built up the waters momentum and the boat jetted out of the warship’s shadow.

This wasn’t good, they where way too close to all this. He had to protect his sister; she was a pain in the neck sure, but it was still his duty to do so. He was bending quickly to make their escape faster, sweat dripped off his brow as he did so. The heat down her was already taking a toll on him, or was it the anxiousness of the day’s events so far? His long, milk-chocolate brown hair whipped around him, in the wind behind him as he speeded them off.

Turned wordlessly towards her brother, her eyes still wide and she started to ask “wha-” just then her brother began to move, and their boat jetted out towards the docks of the town. She nearly lost her balance again; she narrowed her eyes at him “what are you doing?!” she growled

At his words she turned her head and saw fire-benders appearing on the beach, her eyes widened in surprise. Both at her brother’s reaction and what was happening, now they would surly see them as a threat or spies. She wished he made better choices in life, plus she had never seen a fire nation person in person before. She was curious about them, did their eyes really gleam like gold? She shook her head free of thoughts and regained her footing on the boat.

She walked towards the edge towards the fire-bender side and waved at them. She did hope they would see this as friendly and not a mocking gesture. She sat down with a sigh and prayed nothing bad would come of this brief interaction. She chuckled to herself as she thought ‘bringing home a fire nation boy for a husband, that would make quite a statement, she would definitely upset her father. Perhaps this was something to ask Takku about when he chilled out a bit. Maybe if she suggested selling the fish, they had brought to market in the fire nation, it would be more money? Sure, it might be more dangerous but that is how people get rich. Yes, that was the pitch to use with him.’ she had a plan and couldn’t help but smile as the sea breeze rushed past her, in her brother’s haste. She was glad she decided to tightly braid her hair today, as she looked over at her brother, she observed his hair whipping around wildly and knew that was going to be a mess when they made port.

Beau stayed ready for any potential attacks, grip growing tight over Makato. She was trying to talk smart to him, something he didn't appreciate. He only replied with a subtle grunt, letting her finish whatever else she had to say. She hadn't denied being a Fire Nation affiliate, but there was an aura about the girl... she knew what she was saying. He looked past her at the people requiring medical aid, before setting his eyes back over her dark hair."I'll... wait then." He finished. Beau released her without harm, and sound of metal sliding against metal echoed from his back as two katana blades now sat sheathed over his back.

"Whatever I can do to aid- let me know." His voice was emotionless, but in his face. It was obvious he wasn't one to express his emotions very often. But there was a subtlety of compassion. Perhaps this woman was also a Fire Nation rogue. "What's your name, madam?"

To her surprise despite the strict moody look of the fire bender, he still seemed reasonable and even a little compassionate. She was sure he was touched by the way she was helping the populace. She turned to him and gave a sweet gentle smile at him. "Thank you, if you could use those sharp swords of yours to rustle up more bandages it will help but dont strain yourself ok master hero swordman?" She winked him before touching his good arm gently. Little details like a gentle smile and touch were always effective ways to build trust, doing medical treatment doesnt hurt either.

"Makoto." She replied as she returned to work on the injured man, using the bandages the fire bender provided. She did see any reason not to give her name. Even if someone knew the royal family and her position she doubted anyone would make the connection, the name was not unusual. She was finished in a few minutes and so turned her attention back to the Fire Bender. "Ok, handsome. I am all yours. Take seat." She said indicating a free space nearby.

Reina held her staff a little tighter as the solider laughed at her.
She didn't know how many people were around for sure but she could only sence the two and knew there could be more coming with the anchor up further ahead.

That's when she heard it... it sounded like rushing water?

She frowned slightly to herself as she couldn't make out what it was. She knew she had to act to get away from the two fire soilders and fast.

Several soiders by the boat where getting ready for the arrival of the Princess. She had been gone for a while and they had been given the order to set fire to the near by village.

They still have 4 ships out at sea and with only one ship at the dock some of the men grew a little uncomfortable when rocks had returned to the ship in retaliation of the fire holders they had just thrown. They had missed their mark however and they hoped the Princess would arrive back soon so they could go.

That's when one soilder saw ssomething out of the corner of his eye.

"Benders!"
He shouted and pointed to the small boat that was trying to get away.
It appeared to have two people in it and if they where benders they where to follow orders and get rid of them.

Reina heard the very faint shout from up ahead and could make out it was near the docks.

As the man started to try and push her down she had, had enough of the two soilders. She had to get to the earth village near by and with people shouting about something up ahead it couldn't be good news.

She twisted her hands on the middle of her staff and it split into two. As she slipped them away from each other it was clear the two fire soilders that where hassling her where not ready for the two blades that where followed the two halfs of the staff.
She moved swiftly and lifted and slit the throats of the two men before they could even react.

They fell to her feet and she put her staff back together to conceal the two blades inside once again.

She loved her head to hear more yelling and more water rushing sounds.

Then she heard it... that loud click...
Fire bolders where now being aimed and send flying into the water.
This is when she wished she could see.
She couldn't get a clear focus on anything as her feet where standing in sand and it made it so much more difficult to understand what was around her.

She moved her head slightly to the left in the direction of where the fire boulders where landing.
The massive splashes of water made it everdent that there was something out there.

She wanted to help the people they where attacking... but with them being in the water... She couldn't help.

Her eyes widened and she separated her staff again just enough to let some of the blade it the sunlight.
She moved it into the direction of the gushing sound and knew the sunlight would capture some attention to the people on the boat they where attacking.

She pointed to the marshes that would give them enough cover to get out of the open water and get out of sight.

She then put her sword back together and made a run to the thick, over grown marshes.

She was just glad she had been there before so she could remember the layout of the stretch of beach.

Rocks on one side and marshes on the other with the docks in the middle.

Beau nodded. He flashed a very quick smile, the longest he'd done in a very long time, before turning to make more bandages for Makato to aid the people. He hadn't the best sense of humour, and hadn't even caught Makato's teasing at the end of her sentence. He did enjoy the compliment though. Then she stroked his arm. The first feeling of affection he'd had- or allowed, in a very long time. Something about her demeanor made him trust her, a bittersweet feeling he berated himself for. Beau didn't have a very healthy history with trust, and hadn't had to have faith in anybody but himself for months. But with Makato, the connection seemed instant, part of him wanted to embrace it, and part of him wanted to get away. To rid the potential of betrayal. For now, embracing her seemed to be in more control.

Still, certain things didn't need to be shared on the first day. "Benji." Beau replied once asked about his own name. His born name was all too familiar, and even with the scarring on his face, he'd made sure to change his hairstyle and garment from his fire nation days. He only hoped Makato wouldn't notice, or wouldn't be hurt if she did. This was a relationship he hoped to keep, but some habits wouldn't change.

Beau had smiled a record number of times during this conversation with Makato. He hadn't exposed his pearly whites in anything more than teasing during combat. But with Makato, his smiles only radiated happiness, even through the chaos that'd just been released. Beau took the seat next to Makato, and hoped to get all his answers at once. But that wouldn't be the case.

Any other ex-military would've noticed it. Out of his peripheral vision, he could make out the rustling of leaves and trees. Someone- or something, was out there. "Stay put." Beau said quietly, he wanted Makato safe and out of harm if something were to go awry. The look he'd given Makato before he left made it obvious he didn't want to leave, but duty called. Slowly, he unsheathed one of the katana blades he'd used to make bandages, and sprinted towards the sides of the village, before creeping slowly from the village opening into where lead into the jungle. He glanced back at Makato, before turning back in. He'd be ready for whatever was coming.

So the the exile can smile after all, it was almost unnatural on the moody face which has not seen a smile in while. Still there was a charm to it and she could tell it was genuine. She wondered his story, what brought him here and what made him so jaded. It must have to do with the scaring on his face. What could it be? A battle gone wrong? A lost Agni Kai? Trouble with his family, something she could understand. Maybe once she satisfied him and earned his trust, she might try to probe him and give him an interrogation of her own.

She had to pass his questioning though as she knew that smile can turn quickly to her detriment if she was found lacking in his eyes. When he sat next to her, her hand inched close to his in a little flirtation. She looked at him as there was noone else bit him out there. However it wasnt meant to be as he seemed to notice something among the trees. She frowned when he told her to stay put, not liking to be treated like a damsel. She drew her and stood, following close behind the firebender. A keen and alert look in her face when he turned to look at her. "I am not just a healer when I need to be." She explained in a whisper.

Aika walked back to the ship in silence.
She spoke to none of the men as they waked back and none of her men dare to speak.

They boarded the boat and the men began to see to their wounds.

"I see you lost 7 men... this will work in our favor."
The Captain of the ship walked over to the Princess and gave her a bow of respect.

"Yes... send the hawk with the news of it. Telling him we have found benders... The Resistance. They where few in numbers, but they are strong... nothing we can't handle."
She sat down on a crate thinking about the rouge fire bender.
"We also have a traitor in the group. He's a strong fire bender... I think if we got him and brought him back to my father it would make him pleased to have someone to fight. It will obviously be an easy win but it would bring an end to the Resistance."

She looked down at her hands that she had covered in black gloves and frowned fee ling at them.
She hatted them... but she knew she had to accept it for how it was and yes her father (and by the grace of the great fire spirit) she was alive and the scars on her hands where a reminder of it.

Captain Hiroto looked down at her and nodded slightly.
"Use the traitors death as a warning to all about betraying our great nation."

Aika gave him a very small nod.
"Get ready to sail back to our other ships... we will need to inform them and get ready to go onto dry land."
She looked up at him with her hot, blue eyes.
"Our hunt is about to begin."

Captain Hiroto gave her a bow and walked off to go get the message ready to send.

Aika looked back down at her gloves and could feel the heat in her blood starting to rise.

She hated having to do this... but it was the only way to please her father and keep him happy. She did love her father, but over the years he had grown to become a very hard man. A great darkness like no other had come over him and Aika felt it too.

She closed her eyes remembering the day she had lost control over the power inside her she had tried to hide.
When ever she would feel like her emotions where rising she would feel the burn.
The burn of pure energy running through her.

The last time she had lost control of it a whole village had been blown up.
Although her father was proud of her and what she had done... She still felt guilty.
Guilty for the deaths of so many people who couldn't even bend.

Yes... She was becoming a monster and her father's pride and joy.
Her whole existence was to burn and have the world burn with her.
It was a burden that her father saw as a blessing.
She was the wepon he had wanted for years and was pleased she felt the constant burn of the element that was so loved by him and his people.

Aika was in constant pain with the burning of energy inside her, but she never told anyone. If she was to show any weakness she could disappoint her father and he would disapprove of her.
She had to carry the burden alone. It was the duty that the great fire spirit put on her.

She sat back and looked out at the water in silence.
She was always like this.
She had no friends and no one to confide in. She had her sister, but even then she was trying to push her away. If she was to hurt the one person she cared about she would never forgive herself. So it was easier to just push her to one side and focus on her orders.

Her orders where to capture and get rid of as many other benders as possible. If they came peacefully they would be locked away in some specialised cell... and if they didn't... they would get sent to the spirit world. It was as simple as that.

"Princess... your meal is ready."
The young leutanent was carring a tray and went to sit it beside her.

"I'm not hungry." Aika didn't even look at him. She just kept watching the men get the ship ready to go.

"Princess... you've only eaten one meal in 3 days. You need to rest and eat."

She glared over at the leutanent with her piercing blue eyes and stood up as she hissed at him.
"Never tell me again what I need."

Steam was starting to rise off her hands, but she walked away from him and headed below deck, to her own quarters.

Only her father could tell her what to do. And if she didn't want to eat, she wouldn't eat. If she didn't want to sleep, she wouldn't sleep.

She almost threw herself onto her bed and let out a long and drawn out growl.
Yes.. She knew she was torturing herself, but she deserved it.
She deserved the burning inside her.
She deserved the hurting of her stomach.
She deserved to be sleep deprived.

How many people had she put in the same situation?
How many people had she burned?
How many people had she made go hungry?
How many people had she made not be able to sleep out of fear.

She deserved every second of torture she put herself through.

Aika glared up at the ceiling as if it were some kind of enemy that had to be taken out.
She was constantly angry...
Angry with herself for doing what she was doing.
Angry with her Father for using her as a wepon.
And angry at the world for not just bowing down so she didn't have to do what she had done and was going to do.

The order to take out all benders against the fire nation had come to no shock to her. And now she had just taken several out of hiding it wouldn't be long till others where found and captured... or worse. If her father had his way the only benders left would he the fire nation.

(There's some stuff for you all to read.)
