Finished [Rotian Lands] The Freeze is coming! Go, go, go!

IMG_1711.png

V-CXI wrestled with the monster, putting up a struggle he barely managed to keep himself from getting eaten, though not defeated. Not by a long shot the frog did recoil a small some releasing the construct as the dagger dug into its nerves, flinching back from the hit of strength. The frog monster after a brief moment leaps forward once more to attack with its claws.

Baharius managed to knock it back one yard with excessive brute strength, hid attack digging deeper and overpowering the creature with the mix of his strength and know-how of his blade the spikes on its back dug into the ground beneath as it got knocked in the way of the machine guns from the fuller, as bullets got shot at it it made one last croaking noise before red and black splattered everywhere from the bullets. But the Saurian would not have a long-lasting reprieve as two more jumped at the chance to attack him.

Kōmori also managed to make some progress, the damage from the previous attacks still costing the frog damage, the continued attacks from Kōmori would lead to the frog’s tongue getting sliced off, promptly bleeding out as its blood poured onto the ground. Two more frog monsters would jump and attack her with its claws.

“Hikari!” Griffin shouted in concern. Attacking one of the frogs that was going after them. Repeating the same incantation before he cast a weaker, but similar AOE spell. [May be utilized for a team up bonus] IMG_1371.png The spell hit the monsters in weaker bursts of wind, perhaps opening weaknesses for the party. Griffin follows up his attack with a mundane attack with a bow and arrow to add just a little extra damage. Griffin told the rest of the group.

“C’mon! Only five left we got this! Try again!”

Marriane shouted at Aedrianna.

“Magic is always a complicated thing! Don’t focus on your words or your posture, just calmly sway your arms in a manner that feels right, not everything can be an incantation so right now trust your instinct with your words! Focus on the energy— the mana pulsing in your veins!”
IMG_1658.png Marrianne casted a fire spell at the frog that was attacking V-XCI. The fire ball was huge and smacked the frog dealing it damage but not dead.

Baharius' strike would soon dispatch one of the hideous frog monsters being helped by the mighty Fuller's rapid fire bullets reducing it into a gross meaty paste. The saurian briefly looked back at the mech's smoking guns. Such firepower! Turned out they certainly weren't just there for show. It would be mighty concerning if they weren't. Though as he began regaining his bearings two more frog monsters leapt towards him with gaping mouths.

"Hmph." scoffed Baharius, "I don't need my sword to take you both out..."

Just as the frogs were within range, the mighty saurian swung his whole body forth as his tail aimed to strike at them to slash at their stomachs and hopefully take them out in one swift strike. Even if they were still alive at the end Baharius wouldn't let them escape. He issued an overhead swing to cleave into the nearest frog's shoulder before lunging forth to spear the other frog into its mouth.

Actions:
  1. Uses [Tail Whip E] to hit both frog monsters simultaneously with his tail
  2. Attacks one of the frogs with an overhead strike to its shoulder.
  3. Attacks the other frog with a stabbing lunge to its mouth.

A whirring mechanical sound started coming from within V, who barely managed to hold on against the might of the monstrous frog. The pressure eventually gave off, but only because the frog leaped his way. And while the fireball that hit it provoked injuries, it did not make the beast stop.

Seeing as he needed to do something, the rook focused as best as he could to try and find something he might be able to use here.

And then a faint memory finally flared up.

On instinct alone, V tried to recreate a jumping strike similar to one he saw the Masked Man utilize, Trying to hammer his arm on the underside of the frog.

Aedrianna’s gaze flicked to Aurora as his voice carried through the chaos, a steadying presence amidst the flurry of croaks and clashing weapons. There was something unshakable in his tone, a confidence that reached her even in her uncertainty. He believed she could do this. Her lips pressed together, a flicker of determination rising in her chest. “Alright… okay,” she whispered under her breath, her fingers tightening slightly around the edges of her jacket.

She caught sight of Marianne, her movements smooth and deliberate, the way she wove her magic into the fray with practiced precision. Her earlier words about magic—about trusting instinct, about feeling the energy coursing through her—stirred in Aedrianna’s mind. It wasn’t about saying the right words or standing the right way. It was about feeling it, letting the magic flow through her. “Trust myself,” she murmured, echoing Marianne’s wisdom.

Her eyes darted to Baharius, watching as he wielded his great sword with terrifying strength, his strikes calculated and devastating. Then to V, whose mechanical movements seemed both sharp and instinctive, his resilience shining through even as he grappled with the monstrous tongue. They were all fighting, all contributing. She couldn’t let them down.

With a shaky breath, she tapped her cheeks lightly to focus herself. “You can do this,” she told herself, her voice barely audible. “Just… focus.

Her gaze settled on one of the frogs near the edge of the chaos, its hulking frame shifting in the snow. Raising her hands, she pointed a single trembling finger at it. Her other hand moved slowly, deliberately, as she began to trace an unseen pattern in the air. Her movements mirrored Marianne’s calm swaying, her breath steadying as she let herself feel the hum of energy stirring in her veins.

The shadows formed slowly, curling around her hands like smoke. Flecks of starlight shimmered within them, faint at first, then glowing brighter as her confidence grew. The magic pulsed softly, responding to her focus, and she guided it with careful, deliberate motions. Her breath caught as the energy gathered at her fingertip, the soft light shimmering with an otherworldly glow.

She hesitated for the briefest moment, her heart pounding in her chest. Then, she exhaled and released it.

A beam of shadowy light streaked forward, shimmering with twinkling starlight as it arced through the snow-covered air. Aedrianna’s arm stayed outstretched, her blue eyes wide as she watched the magic disappear into the chaos towards the frog she'd been focusing on. She froze, her breath caught in her throat, unsure of what would happen next.

Kōmori’s lack of response led her to the reluctant acceptance of her fate as the claws of the two large monstrous amphibian-like creatures dug into her, the first one breaking past her armor. [Armor hp 0/3] Her armor now broken made it easy for the second one to attack her, knocking her to the ground Kōmori landed in the snow bleeding from multiple wounds. [HP applied from character grade, HP left 1/3] Kōmori would find herself having a hard time staying conscious and unable to move. Fortunately what stopped Kōmori’s untimely fate would be yet another fireball aimed at the two frogs shot from Marrianne. IMG_1658.png The fire ball knocked the frogs backward after sustaining extra damage from Griffin’s spell into aim of Charlotte’s machine guns resulting in them becoming splattered gunk of red and black painted across the fresh white snow on the ground. The fae ran towards Kōmori.

‘C’mon…C’mon.” She spoke trying to pick her up. Though Marrianne was still on guard.

Baharius would successfully manage on his own against the creatures, his tail knocking them into the range of the guns. Resulting in yet more splatter in the snow. four was now down with one last frog to go. V-CXI managed an attack towards the creature which ended up being aided by Aedrianna’s spell. This resulted in a final—less gruesome death for the monster they were fighting as the light and shadows consumed lingered in the corpse for a short manner of minutes before dissipating. IMG_1371.png
“EVERYONE OK?!” Griffin shouted concerned eying everyone then running towards Kōmori who was now being carried by

“We have medical supplies inside right?” He asked in a bit of a panic.

Marrianne answered; “I believe Demetrius knows some healing spells, let’s try to calm down. Except for me. Charlotte is getting a lecture for sending newbies in for fieldwork—“

She turned to Aedrianna. “No offense Hikari! Your last spell did great—but right now things seem to be a bit 50/50 in terms of your casting works….we’ll work on that but right now it was risky.”

She answered then pointed at V-CXI “And him, he has potential but we need to give him proper training as well.”

Griffin nods. “Ok, everyone! Back in the fuller and we’ll continue on our trip. As well as get everyone checked out for injuries.”
IMG_1661.png
After everyone returned to the fuller the barrier around it disappeared, Charlotte did a head count locked the doors recieving a lecture by Marrianne as the fae placed Kōmori down, Charlotte started driving the fuller while her fellow students lectured her til her ears fell off. Demetrius would be unable to heal Kōmori due to how much energy the barrier consumed. Griffin sat next to the Oni protectively. Though his attention was still split among the party.

“Well, that could’ve been worse. Guess we shouldn’t be surprised this is Rotia.”Griffin mentioned with a sigh.

“How are we all holding up?”
He asked the rest of the group. IMG_1659.png
Demetrius mentioned.
“The rest of the group seems uninjured surprisingly. I do not count on it lasting long. We are likely to have to fight worse while continuing on. When Marrianne is done with Charlotte I will discuss some measures until I can heal Kōmori. If there are any concerns or questions I encourage you to ask. Otherwise, it might be best to lighten the mood with small talk for the time being.”

Baharius felt his tail collide with both frog monsters, coincidentally hurdling them in the way of the mighty Fuller's thundering arsenal. He'd hear the guns go off as he turned around, catching the tail end of the carnage as the frogs gave out their last a sickening croaks followed by a shower of ichor painting the snow reddish-black. The saurian gave an affirming chuff at this epic coincidence before the battle quickly ended as it began. Hearing Griffin call out if everyone is ok, Baharius rose a meaty fist into the air. "Never better!" he replied confidently, "Just a shame it ended so soon."

Taking one last close look at the gory remains of their enemy, the hulking saurian proceeded to return to the Fuller while he ensured everyone was accounted for. Everyone had survived the encounter, however it was Kōmori who apparently got the worst of it. Baharius didn't see what happened to her but he assumed it must've been solely due to bad luck. Her armor was virtually destroyed and her health was fading. Demetrius supposedly had access to healing magic but would be unable to use it currently due to energy concerns. Griffin and Demetrius discussed how it all could've gone a lot worse, though their battles had only just begun. For now they could rest up and chat the time away.

Sensing the right opportunity, Baharius walked over to Griffin and sat beside him. "Right..." he groaned lowly to him as he laid on his scaly belly on the floor, "What were you were gonna tell me what you thought of Aedrianna- er... Hikari's condition? Guessing she hit her head too hard on something I reckon?"

V-CXI

With the aid of the friendly amnesiac, V managed to take down one of the monstrous frogs with his lackluster strike. "⠞⠓⠁⠝⠅ ⠽⠕⠥ ⠋⠕⠗ ⠞⠓⠑ ⠁⠎⠎⠊⠎⠞⠁⠝⠉⠑" the rook said with an acknowledging nod, then lowering his head, realizing he still couldn't talk proper, and he had left his art supplies back in the mech.

Reflexively, he also spoke to Griffin in his broken, forgotten, and glitchy traces of language. "⠗⠑⠍⠁⠅⠊⠝⠛ ⠁ ⠉⠕⠍⠃⠁⠞ ⠅⠝⠕⠺⠇⠑⠙⠛⠑ ⠃⠁⠎⠑ ⠺⠕⠥⠇⠙ ⠃⠑ ⠁ ⠛⠕⠕⠙ ⠊⠙⠑" After a mental struggle of how to convey that phrase, he tried putting a thumbs-up and an emphatic nod, hoping it was a sufficient answer.

After that, V sat down next to his new buddy, Hikari. Or was it Aedrianna? Regardless, he would pick up his utensils and started practicing his Common writing. Slowly getting more clear whatever symbols came to mind. He didn't remember it completely, but it was a start. His art skills certainly wouldn't do... Should he practice drawing more? He pondered on that question as the symbols came to mind and he practiced them.

Hikari flinched slightly at Marianne’s words, her bright blue eyes widening before her expression shifted into something that could only be described as reluctant acceptance. She puffed her cheeks out slightly, a flicker of petulance crossing her face, but quickly smoothed it over. “It worked though…” she mumbled under her breath before catching herself. Marianne had a point—she didn’t really know what she was doing yet. Still, she nodded with a little more seriousness, giving a short, “Got it. I’ll be careful.

She turned as Griffin called out for a status check, her mood brightening instantly. With a wide grin, she threw both hands up in the air and waved enthusiastically. “I’m good!” she called out, practically bouncing in place.

Her gaze quickly shifted to Baharius, catching sight of the impressive way he had knocked the frogs directly into the fuller’s firing range. The carnage left behind was gruesome, but even Hikari could appreciate the sheer skill of it. “That was amazing!” she blurted, eyes gleaming as she took a step toward the massive saurian. “That last tail swing? Absolutely perfect. Do you have to practice that, or is it just natural?

Her excitement wavered slightly as her gaze landed on Kōmori’s slumped form. The oni warrior was being tended to, but the blood staining the snow around her was hard to ignore. Hikari’s fingers tightened slightly around the edges of her jacket as she hesitated. “She’ll be okay, right?” Her voice softened slightly, uncertainty creeping in. She didn’t know Kōmori well, but watching her go down left a pit in her stomach. This was different from any fights she had seen before. The wounds were real, the pain tangible. Even if everyone treated it like just another day, Hikari wasn’t sure if she was ready to see people she was starting to like get hurt like this.

Still, she swallowed back any lingering nerves and followed the others into the fuller, tucking herself into a seat. Her hands rested in her lap, fingers tracing absent-minded patterns against the fabric of her dress as the vehicle rumbled to life.

Her attention drifted to V, who had started fiddling with a pen and parchment. Curious, she leaned slightly toward him, watching as he began marking symbols onto the page. After a few moments, she tilted her head. “Oh! Can you read and write?” she asked with genuine interest.

As soon as the words left her mouth, a realization struck her like a slap.

Her expression faltered, confusion flashing across her face as she straightened in her seat. That was a normal enough question, right? But… what language was she speaking? It wasn’t Japanese—she knew that much. And yet, she was understanding everyone perfectly. They were all speaking fluently, and so was she. Her lips parted slightly as her mind reeled, the weight of it suddenly feeling heavier than it should have.

She turned her gaze to the others in the fuller, searching their faces as if the answer would be written there. “Wait… what language is this?” she asked hesitantly, her voice quieter now, uncertainty creeping in.

Hikari had adjusted quickly to this world, too quickly maybe. But now, for the first time, she was realizing just how strange this all was.

“Well, er you and Hikari may need to pay attention. Before I explain what the theory is I should explain the grounds. That are quite frankly unbelievable sounding to the point where I might be judged heavily for it. But it is important as it is important for me to tell you what it is before I tell you where this conversation is going. What I think happened to Hikari is…something that happened to me. Or similar so hear me out.”

Griffin stated first, a warning for the bizarreness that was soon to leave his mouth.

“I’ve touched on my own experience with Hikari, though I haven’t ever told Baharius…because it sounds unrealistic and like I’m a utter nut job. But what I did tell you and the past wasn’t completely false…so what is it…right I came from another world. Well more specifically my soul did….from what little I remember I was bed ridden, I vaguely remember the hospital I was in I think it was in a place called…America? What I remember most out of my few memories are the good ones. In short terms when I was fourteen I was diagnosed with Lung Cancer. I was sixteen when I died in hospital. I still remember the flatline. Then I woke up in this body in this world…anyway…why is it related? Because I think the same happened to Hikari.”

He took a quick breath and explained further.

“The amnesia, the few memories. Hikari mentioned she had throat cancer back in Myatheville. I don’t even know if Cancer is a disease that exists or a disease That has been discovered in this world Baharius,”

He looked between the two if then.IMG_1661.png
“I suspect Hikari’s time ticked its final tick. Just like me, she lost the fight but…and she met with some sort of deity like I did…but it doesn’t answer how she was able to take over Aedrianna’s body…unless Aedrianna was…was…”

He took a deep breath, he was already starting to chalk up. Now wasn’t the time to be emotional he had to explain it, it was a harsh potential reality. It hurt. Death always stung. “

“…was dead…I worry Aedrianna died. And Hikari took her place.”

He sighed. “Maybe, I am overthinking. Maybe the cause is different—it could be. I’d accept an alternative. But as it stands everything Hikari has stated struck a cord. And she isn’t familiar with her own body…”

Hikari, he knew could attest to that.

“Hell if the medic Jane was her she could attest to Hikari’s reaction…its either that or some form of amnesia that caused the development of a new identity. And it seems like it makes some sort of sense to me, because if something like that already happened several times before. Why not another?”

Griffin then Answered Aedrianna’s question as Kōmori was taken to the med bay after finding more medical materials.

“She’ll be okay I hope, but she might not be responsive for a while…”

He then follows up with a question about the Language. “Common, I believe he is trying to practice his reading and writing, but we are all speaking common tongue. Every race knows this language, kind of like a default if you will. It would probably be rare and concerning to find someone who didn’t know common. There are some languages as well… like Analog. Which %is this language right here% usually you’ll find constructs like myself are the ones that speak it, then you have others like Beastial, typically spoken by beasts, Terran typically spoken by humans, Sylvan typically spoken by the Fae and Abyssal spoken by monsters. Though I don’t know what language our friend here speaks. Language is a weird thing…I don’t remember being taught common or analog but I always concluded that it was just how the Griffin construct was programmed. I assume your understanding of common is because you were a pre-existing person before…anyway.”

IMG_1658.png
Marrianne spoke up. And then pointed at V-CXI with a wrench.

“You. C’mere I think I found some vocal components for you! I’ll help you implement them. Shouldn’t take long to replace your modulator.”

Charlotte told everyone. “Now that I am no longer being lectured I think it is worth noting we are coming up on the base we are meant to meet up with the others at soon! Just hang on tight everyone!” IMG_1660.png

V nodded once again, showing his shoddy writing skills to Hikari by raising the parchment and turning it to her. Something clearly went wrong, as her amnesia struck a nerve once again. Griffin was swift to disarm the situation. Still, the rook stepped away for the two forgotten friends to talk it out further.

The ancient construct turned from the strange and confusing scene when the mechanic called him out. Having something to enable him to talk. His glitchy vocals shrilled with apparent relief as he followed Marianne.

Glancing back at Hikari's excitement over his capabilities, Baharius gave a humble chuckle and a shrug. "Takes a bit of practice to get the aiming right, but its all natural." he responded as he rested his sword on his shoulder, "Though I'd say this time it was more of a coincidence than anything!"

Listening intently to Griffin's theory regarding Aedrianna, it would finally make sense to him. It was as he feared and more. Though Baharius didn't seem terribly surprised about it, he still showed signs of despair over the somber realization. How dangerous the hive invasion was... the deception at a supply camp he'd overheard from... all blending into a deadly and fatal chaos. "So..." he breathed lowly with the sunken sigh, "She died then, huh..." He gave a deep reptilian grumble while he attempted process the information provided to him. For it wasn't just a theory on Aedrianna but also Griffin explaining his previous life. Once living in a life in a place called America... having died from a terrible illness... and being brought here with little to no memory of their past.

Both were similar yet more severe punishments compared to the one Baharius had been put through.

"I'm sorry..." he stated lowly, "I had a feel that was the case but..." The massive saurian sighed as he proceeded to get up and sit upright as he readjusted his stance. "I too have been resurrected from another world in my past life..." Baharius confessed as he reminisced of homeworld, "But unlike you and Hikari, I remember mine's fairly clearly. A world of saurians... the Fantozoica... where I was a general for an army. was a war hero for my people, fighting for what I thought was right. But then I was slain in battle, my army falling for a trap, betrayed by unseen bureaucrats who wanted me and my ideologies dead."

"Then I too saw a human in white, welcoming me to this world. And now... here I am. I could go on about my experiences of my homeworld... but where would I begin? Perhaps another time should any of you be interested..."

He then glanced over to Griffin and Hikari respectively, his gaze more somber then ever. "I pity the both of you for being unable to remember your past lives. I suppose I'm grateful for remembering mine but... as far as I'm aware I'm the only one of my kind in this world. Not once have I seen another saurian since arriving here, let alone another one looking like me... and the chances of encountering one from my homeland is very low. It's as if I'm destined to travel alone with the memories and knowledge of my homeland. And when I die here... or however I happen to stop existing a second time... I fear all of it will be lost if I perish again. All of my experiences... my memories... lore... gone."

Baharius chuckled morbidly at the thought before returning to reality. "But that's enough moping from me." he excused, forcing a half-baked grin to mask the pain before looking over the unconscious body of Kōmori. Supposedly she'll be okay, but may be unresponsive for a time. It was still shocking to see what looked like a great warrior become overwhelmed by frogs but the fickles of luck are a tricky and cruel mistress.

Hearing that they were coming up on the base, Baharius prepared himself to depart and help with the preparations within.

The fuller hummed softly beneath them, but the air inside had grown heavier.

Hikari sat quietly as Aurora spoke, listening intently as he hesitated, his words carefully measured but still edged with grief. She didn’t know how to process what he was saying at first—it all felt too surreal. She had barely come to terms with her own situation, and now here he was, explaining that the same thing had happened to him. He had been someone else. He had died.

And now, so had Aedrianna.

The realization hit her all at once as she caught the expression on Aurora’s face—the way his voice strained ever so slightly, the way he refused to meet her eyes for too long. She turned to Baharius just as he let out a low, rumbling sigh, his deep voice carrying a weight she wasn’t sure she was ready for. His words confirmed what she feared.

They weren’t just confused by her memory loss. They were mourning her.

Or rather, they were mourning Aedrianna.

She swallowed, her hands gripping the fabric of her dress as she stared down at them. In their eyes, the woman they knew—the person she had woken up as—was gone. And no matter how much they tried to explain it, she didn’t know if she could ever truly claim that identity.

Because as far as she knew… she wasn’t Aedrianna.

A guilty weight settled in her stomach. Her voice felt caught in her throat, but she forced herself to push past it, her lips curling into a small, hesitant smile as she looked up. “America, huh?” she said softly, her voice carrying an odd nostalgia. She turned to Aurora, tilting her head slightly. “I performed there once. As a pop idol. A big event… Madison Square Garden.” A quiet, almost bittersweet laugh escaped her. “You said you remember the hospital the most, but I remember the stage.

She paused, glancing between him and Baharius before adding, “Maybe when we get to the base, I can sing for you. If you don’t mind hearing an old idol try to remember how her voice works in this new life.

It wasn’t much, but it was something.

She caught movement from the corner of her eye and turned to see V showing her his writing. Her earlier confusion about the language faded for the moment as she looked at the parchment, tilting her head to the side. The symbols were rough, uneven—but they were improving.

Then, as Marianne called for him, Hikari noticed the faint tension in his frame, the way his glitchy vocals let out an odd shrill sound before he turned to follow her. She smiled and gave him a quick thumbs-up before calling out, “You’ve got this ! If they’re fixing your voice, I expect to hear a song when you’re done!

She grinned, keeping her tone light, but beneath it all, the weight of Aurora and Baharius’s words still lingered in her chest.

Because if Aedrianna really was gone…

Then what did that make her?

In the fuller, discussions continued to take place until their eventual departure. Baharius spoke his turn and Griffin listened attentively before answering. He offered the Saurian words of comfort.

“Dying, as we can all attest to sucks. But at least you died fighting. That is more than what we can say….it is fascinating that souls don’t just come here from Earth…like some I’ve met in the past. But you died fighting for what believed was a worthy cause. That is very admirable, and you never know maybe there is a saurian right around the corner.”

Though Griffin tried to keep himself composed, he fought in a war, he’s fought against mutant bugs, undead people, and mutant undead zombies he’s defended and protected others, yet that didn’t save him from the relatively immature emotions of a teenager. The construct wanted to grieve, scream, and cry. But now was not the time and place to do it. Not in front of her, Griffin knew Hikari didn’t deserve that, and at the end of the day, Griffin as stubborn as she was still thought of her as his good friend, her sister figure.

“Madison Square Garden? Sounds…familiar…” he told Aedrianna…Hikari, her name was Hikari. IMG_1371.png
“I don’t mind hearing you sing, I’ve heard Aedrianna’s voice before. It was how she used her incantations. And while I miss her I would like to hear Hikari’s voice.”

Identities when being…spiritually transported or whatever the term was tended to be complicated when you aren’t grown into it. It was an experience Griffin knew well. An experience Griffin as Aurora and Aurora as Griffin triggered an identity crisis.

He didn’t want Hikari to endure the same. Griffin decided he would help and he would make sure she didn’t resort to the same coping mechanisms he did. Which for a long time had been ignoring what needed to be addressed. He also added.

“I also want you to know, to make sure you understand you can confide in me for anything…be it basic knowledge of the world, magic usage, or even things involving identity. I can’t speak for Baharius but the most of my first year here I…to put it simply, didn’t know who I was. What was I? Aurora? Griffin? Boy? Girl? If I have a new life where I am no longer sickly what is my purpose? It was a question that struck me the hardest when I wasn’t fighting to protect anyone. What was I? If, you are wondering about that or need help and advice regarding identity instead of understanding this world know you can confide in me about it. It will take time no doubt…but life is easier when you know who you are and inner turmoil only makes it harder.”

With what Marrianne had, she welded, rewired, and replaced some of the parts in V-CXI’s system, it took the remainder of the trip to do so. Marrianne asked him.

“There we go, let's give it a try. Your voice should at least be coherent now worst-case scenario a little glitchy.”

She explained putting her items away.

“How about, you try telling us your name now?”

She suggested. Then the movements of the fuller came to a stop.

IMG_1660.png
“ROUND UP EVERYONE! WE’VE MADE IT TO ONE OF HORNBACH’S MILITARY BASES, LINE UP IN SINGLE FILE AND HEAD OUT!”

Charlotte shouted over a microphone allowing everyone to hear, it contained a surprising amount of authority. Everyone would be shuffled out of the fuller following this. Kōmori would be wheeled out to the city of Hornbach for better medical treatment. After leaving the fuller they would be guided to Nicholas who was speaking to a black cat beastkin wearing armor with medical equipment and Jane. The area behind them Barracks, over sized machine hangers, storage and training areas could all be seen. The Cat’s orange eyes looked at them suspiciously, before further conversation he made them all be scanned by black orbs. Then he greeted them.

“Greetings, I am August. First things first we are going to split you all up into groups, with so little time until the freeze we need to cover as much ground as possible. And based on what the orbs had showed…”

He pointed at Baharius, Charlotte, Jane, V-CXI. “You three will go to the training grounds and aid,the training of new recruits.” He looks at V-CXI and points at him. “You, are a new recruit.”

He points at Aedrianna and Demetrius, “you two will meet up with Arthur to aid the defense line as it seems you both have relatively powerful healing magic and decent barriers. Which will com in handy when improving everything.”

He then pointed towards Griffin and Marrianne.

“You two will join me in running supplies around!”

After a moment he says.

“That is all, if you have any final questions ask now before I said you on your way.”

Hikari listened in silence as Aurora spoke, his words weaving between reassurance and something deeper—something raw. He was trying to steady himself, trying to steady her, but she could see the weight he carried behind his words. The way his voice wavered just slightly. The way he hesitated before calling her name.

She smiled, small but genuine. "You know, I think I’d like that. Singing again. Maybe it’ll help me figure things out." She wasn’t sure what else to say—how to acknowledge his kindness, his offer of support. But she’d remember it. She’d hold onto it.

As the fuller rumbled to a stop, she straightened, blinking in surprise at Charlotte’s sudden commanding tone. Without thinking, she glanced toward V as Marianne finished her repairs, a flicker of excitement breaking through her somber thoughts. She gave him an encouraging thumbs-up before standing to follow the others out.

The cold hit her first, then the imposing sight of Hornbach’s military base. Everything felt so structured, so serious. She barely had time to take it all in before they were being scanned and divided into groups.

When her name was called, she hesitated. "Wait… healing magic? Barriers?" She glanced at Demetrius, then back at August. "I mean, I did do something back there, but—"

She cut herself off, realizing that now wasn’t the time to question it. Maybe this was her chance to learn. Maybe this was exactly what she needed.

Squaring her shoulders, she nodded. "Alright. I’ll do my best."

Then, as she stepped toward her assigned group, the realization sank in—she was being separated from her new friends.

Her head turned toward Baharius, toward V, toward Aurora. They had been with her since she woke up, her first real anchors in this strange new life. She hesitated for just a moment, then lifted her hand in a bright, energetic wave, flashing them a determined smile.

"Don’t get into too much trouble without me!" she called out, her voice carrying a mix of teasing and encouragement.

Then, with one last glance, she turned toward her new path.

As he walked away from the grim conversation, Hikari dedicated a few words of encouragement. Once again, he answered in his garbled, glitched audio "⠊ ⠙⠕ ⠝⠕⠞ ⠗⠑⠉⠁⠇⠇ ⠑⠧⠑⠗ ⠓⠁⠧⠊⠝⠛⠁ ⠍⠥⠎⠊⠉ ⠗⠑⠇⠁⠞⠑⠙ ⠍⠕⠙⠥⠇⠑" He shook his head, knowing it was pointless. Which made him all the more eager to have his vocal abilities restored. Though he did wonder where she got the "V" from. Had his words lent themselves to convey such to be his name?

Marianne was very skilled. Managing to work on the ancient mechanics that would look like a living being's insides under the outer metal plates. The end result wasn't perfect, but it'd do the trick.

He tilted his head when his name was asked. He brought a hand to his thick neck, then slowly nodded. "⠝⠁⠍⠑? I have no ⠝⠁⠍⠑..." the rook recoiled when the words in common came through along with a clearer version of his undecipherable noises. His voice held a peculiar metallic echo to it, for obvious reasons.

"⠙⠑⠎⠊⠛⠝⠁⠞⠊⠕⠝ Model Five, Unit One One One."

The nameless construct brought a hand to his neck again. "You did a ⠋⠊⠝⠑ job, ⠍⠊⠎⠎ Marianne."

He had not much time to test his restored vocal capabilities, as the trip had ended, and they were meticulously guided out. 5-111 did as the rest, and then walked along to the folk who ushered them to the training grounds after gesturing Hikari goodbye. He then focused in his own task. "That ⠺⠕⠥⠇⠙ be welcomed. I ⠇⠕⠎⠞ my combat ⠅⠝⠕⠺⠇⠑⠙⠛⠑ remembering such a ⠞⠓⠊⠝⠛ is important to me."

The saurian shrugged at Griffin suggesting the potential in possibility finding more of his kind, his eyes drooped tiredly with a sigh, "I'll believe it when I see it." he stated bluntly. Baharius already had this inner monologue once recently before. Needless to say, his hopes weren't high. As Hikari offered to sing for the two in memoriam of her previous life, Baharius gave a solemn yet warm smile at her. "Perhaps once this is over," he replied politely to her with a nod, "It would be a great honor to hear your singing." He patted the fair woman on the shoulder briefly with his massive scaly hand before departing the conversation in short order.

Eventually the group would finally make it to their destination. A military base owned by the city of Hornbach. Baharius gathered his gear and made it down the ramp, where they would be greeted by a black catfolk who'd separate the group into teams. In Baharius' case, he and the automaton were to head over to the training grounds by the barracks and help with training the new recruits. The saurian snorted an acknowledging huff of stream from his nostrils. "Got it." he confirmed, "Send me to 'em. We'll get started in short order."

Looking to the V-CXI beside him, he noticed that he finally was beginning to speak in common, It was garbled in certain places, but otherwise cohesive. He overheard about him getting a new voice modulator to help him speak when they were back in the Fuller so it was nice to see it was done before they arrived. "Your voice is a little garbled in places," Baharius whispered lowly at him, "But it's a start. Lets hope you can get the message across to the rest. I can try to interpret the loose ends if need be."

After the groups would be sorted and sent to their respective tasks. Team one which was compromised of Baharius, Charlotte, Jane and V-CXI would be guided to the training camp side of base. Steel constructs that took on various forms—from a simple slime to large complex dragons. Each construct took on the form of some sort of monster like entity…

Team two which was made up of Aedrianna, Demetrius whom meet up with a blue-haired human named Arthur out on the defense line, which had various armed weaponry, like guns however more notably was the amount of fortifications. There was a large wall with the addition of watch towers that lined a deep moat…

With team three that had Griffin, August and Marrianne the three prepared a few Palfrey horses that had been brought over from the citizens of Mythaville. Notably there was only three….

Various recruits trained against the monster constructs like one would practice with a dummy, some trained with swords others practiced with guns they all wore Rotian armor embedded with a seemingly strange symbol. The trainees thus far seemed unphased by the cold wind blowing in. There was a man having issues however. One clearly didn’t know how to wield the gun in his hands and was holding it particularly uncomfortably. Which caught the attention of Charlotte who pulled a shotgun from her pocket dimension.

“newbie marksman in sight, off I go! Good luck you three!” Charlotte told the group before going to help the trainee. IMG_1857.png
Jane would turn to V-CXI. “Do you have any weapons? Or perhaps one of preference? Follow me we can train with the slime construct, there is also a weapon rack over there I believe if you do not have one already.” Before proceeding to drag him towards that area.

This would leave Baharius being the last member of the newly appointed team still there, however upon further inspection he would notice one of the new trainees failing against one of the dummies, notably they weren’t holding their sword correctly and were failing in their techniques, perhaps Baharius could train him?

Aedrianna and Demetrius would be met with a Rotia Soldier with blue hair, who eyed them briefly. Before huffing he spoke.

“I’m Arthur. Enough said there, under regular circumstances I would’ve directed you two over to the medbay. “ he explained then pointed surprisingly calmly below to a giant whole in the wall that surrounded the captial and its military base, some monsters already began to close in.

“I have fire power, but I need to focus on fixing that issue. Defensive help wouldbe very much obliged by now.” Arthur explained.

Demetrius answered. “Then lets not dally some of those dastardly creatures are are already getting closer to the fort.”

By that point Aedrianna, Demetrius and Arthur would travel down a ladder, the task here was easier said then probably done.

Hikari and Demetrius defended while Arthur fixed the wall as he was currently beginning to do. Should be simple enough right?

Griffin helped Marrianne and August prepare for the supply runs. Discussing things further between the three of them.

“Did the military in base manage to get their supplies?” Griffin Questioned.

August nodded. “They did, we’ll be taking the weapons that are not military grade though, and keep it in with the supplies. Each horse has a few bags full of weapons, medical supplies, and rations we’ll be running them around Hornbach.”

Griffin pauses for a second before saying… “Uhhh sir?”

“Yes?”

Griffin tells August. “I don’t know how to ride a horse.”

Both Marrianne and August grimaced at that a bit. Or so it seemed. “Luckily my wings aren’t for show. But damn it these things are going to be heavy.”

Then Griffin took the supplies off the horse and used [Flight [F] to take to the skies, sort of not much. He needed to practice flying more.

As Baharius would step foot in the barracks, he'd be greeted to the familiar sight of new rookie recruits training and testing their mettle against dummies and each other. Memories of Afroyia flooded back into his mind as he imagined seeing the other saurians in his division doing the same thing, only with less snow and much more sand and dirt. It was weirdly nostalgic in a way. The past testing him for how far he's come or still remembered from long before. While some of the recruits held swords or sticks, others held guns and other ranged weaponry with some fiddling with their equipment haphazardly and with difficulty.

All three candidates - Charlotte, Jane, and unit V-CXI - would rapidly depart to assist with some of the newbies more aligned in their field, leaving Baharius the only one to observe the main training grounds. With a gruff and exhale of steam visible in the cold air, he planted his sword on his shoulder while he eyed the recruits going to town on the dummies. Most were diligent in their training, with some clearly more experienced then others. Then the saurian's eyes caught sight of a trainee having trouble with one of the dummies, flailing around with a sloppy, tired, not-sure-what-he's-doing, sort of vibe to him. It was evident he needed help... and proper guidance.

It was time to get to work.

Casually approaching the recruit from behind, Baharius continued to watch his performance carefully. It was clear he was getting exhausted... though there were a few things the saurian general would notice about his grip. "You're gripping the handle too tight." Baharius pointed out as his deep voice rumbled out. Lowering his body to match the recruit's, the saurian gestured for him to continue holding his blade the way he's been as he inspects it. "Holding it that way wastes too much precious energy," he continued in his explanation while his large scaly hands hold up his arms, "And making both your technique and finesse wider and sloppier. Holding a blade should feel like a natural extension of yourself, not as if it is controlling you. Relax your grip slightly... but not too loose. Think of it like a handshake... firm yet flexible."

He then caught the placement of the lad's hand placement. "Ah... Your hand placement is also too close to each other. For thrusting, it is good enough. But for slashing and cutting it's not optimal. They must be placed further apart to properly leverage balance and control for each swipe."

Baharius steps back for a moment as he unsheathes his massive greatsword, gripping it with both hands firm yet relaxed on the handle for the recruit to see. His hand placement too looked more balanced when wielding his massive blade. "Something akin to this." the saurian demonstrated as he made several slow exemplary slashes of his blade in the air before lowering it. "Try it." he ordered the recruit, pointing to the dummy to see if he got it.

V-CXI

V glanced at the reptile-kin, whom pointed out his flawed translations. "It appears as ⠎⠥⠉⠓ I would ⠁⠏⠏⠗⠑⠉⠊⠁⠞⠑ the assistance if needed." With a salute of sorts, the rook saw Baharius go his own way. Leaving him and Jane heading elsewhere, too. "I have no ⠺⠑⠁⠏⠕⠝ on me. And I ⠙⠕ ⠝⠕⠞ have memory of wielding any. Combat ⠏⠗⠕⠛⠗⠁⠍⠎ are damaged." Having said that, V would silently follow Jane to the area she intended for him to train at.

The ancient looked at the rack with varied weapons, then at the odd dummy, or a construct perhaps? V wasn't sure if it was alive or not. Not that it mattered, there was likely a reason it was being used as a target. V approached the rack, hovering his hand over the weapons, trying to get a feel for what would suit him.

First, he picked a spear. Observing it in his hands. Then he tried some stances, not looking comfortable in any. He awkwardly swung it around, then stopping after a few of those. "A piercing ⠺⠑⠁⠏⠕⠝" He then tried poking the dummy in a few ways. It was better, but not by much. Defeated, he returned to the rack.

Up next was a longsword. V twirled it around, it did feel better than the spear, but not enough for him to deem it viable. Poses felt mildly improved, yet far from good. Stabs, slashes, and more moves saw not much improvement. So it was discarded.

Number three was a battle axe. Something between a warhammer and a regular axe. It appeared noticeably more fitting in his hands. He slammed its blunt end on the dummy, it felt good. He then swung the sharp end into the dummy's side and some other places on other angles. It all seemed to be finally making sense for him. And yet, V shook his head once he finished. "Still not ⠛⠕⠕⠙" he said to himself after having tried these weapons for a solid while each.

Then a thought crossed the mech's head. "⠏⠁⠝⠅⠗⠁⠞⠊⠕⠝?"

This thought made him approach the dummy without a weapon, circling around it, while moving his limbs in what seemed like attempts to deliver certain motions. He finally stopped before the dummy, grabbing it by the shoulders and pulling it down into a knee strike to its midsection, followed by a takedown and a subsequent barrage of punches to the head. He quickly jumped back to his feet, dummy in tow, and practiced a sloppy guillotine choke a couple of times. Then a low kick. Clunky, but solid. Then he quickly circled around it and performed a german suplex, planting the dummy on its head.

With a whirring noise. V stood up, and brought the squishy dummy to its feet as well. "No ⠺⠑⠁⠏⠕⠝, is the best weapon..." he told Jane as he made his way back to her. "What do ⠽⠕⠥ think?" he asked, genuinely curious, and a bit puzzled as to where that word came from.

As Arthur pointed to the gaping hole in the wall, Hikari felt a nervous prickle crawl up her spine. Monsters were already closing in, and while Arthur had firepower, he needed time to repair the defenses. And she was supposed to defend him? Right. Okay. Defense. I can do this. Maybe. Marianne’s words came back to her: Don’t focus on the words or the posture. Just trust the feeling. Let the mana move through you. That sounded great in theory, but she had absolutely no idea what “defensive magic” was supposed to feel like.

Still, she had seen enough anime to imagine it. What would a magical girl do? Hikari took a deep breath, staring at the broken wall and the incoming monsters. A barrier. A glowing, shimmering shield to hold back the enemy—something radiant, strong, and unwavering. That’s what a magical girl would do, right? She closed her eyes and took a stance, lifting her arms in front of her. Then, she moved. She spun her fingers through the air in wide, sweeping circles, mimicking the fluid, graceful motions she had seen in transformation sequences. Her arms crossed in front of her chest, then stretched outward, fingers splaying as if tracing invisible imaginary glyphs.

Protect, shield, hold—

Her magic responded. Dark, smoky energy curled from her hands, tiny silver stars flickering within the swirling black mist. It felt heavy, like trying to shape water with her bare hands, but she pushed—willing it into something solid, something that could protect. With one final motion, she swept her arms outward and threw the energy toward the gap in the wall.

“We will need to send you to Marrianne later after work is done, your words are still messy. But I think I understand what you are saying.” Jane told V-CXI.

She ponders. Then fixes up her posture. She straightens out her body and then moves her arms towards her chest. Her hands closed into fists.

“Let's start with basic punches.” Jane exampled. “Move your body like this, don’t let your thumb be tucked beneath your fingers as this can lead to injury. And now repeat after me.”

She moves towards the slime construct and dives her hand into it, swiftly pulling back. It hops forward To retaliate. “With enemies like these…” she jumped out of the way and then went in for another punch. “They are easy to maneuver around.”

With Baharius the recruit listened tentatively to the Saurian’s words and attempted his best to mimic Bhaharius’s instructions and example. He did ok, for a beginner but his footing was off, and his slashes seemed off balance. The recruit attempted to remedy this but his hands were shaky.

Aedrianna would succeed on her conjuration of a barrier, however it only had a fifteen feet diameter, the result was that it didn’t completely shield off the hole. Demetrius however was able to help Aedrianna close it off. With his own magic.

“Good job, Good job! For a newbie that is pretty impressive most beginners can’t even shoot a stable blast of mana from their hands no less make a decently sized barrier.” The lizard spoke words lf encouragement.

Demetrius faced Arthur who used aid of some earth magic—specifically for the conjuration of stone to speed up the construction process he ponders.

“How about impromptu magic lessens huh Aedrianna? Or Hikari…sorry I ‘m a bit confused on that—I’ll just assume you have two names of preference like Griffin does. So let’s see how well you can double task your spells.” He speaks then looks down.

The monsters this time around were not even remotely terrifying. They essentially looked like if Pikachu somehow managed to merge with a golden retriever that was 5ft tall.

“Let the mana flow and guide your motions, you may find incantations easier if your mind uses movements and you speak words of things that remind you of a better time or place of comfort, if its not a incantation at least. Think that Lullaby Griffin used for his wind spells. If words fail you sounds alone may suffice.”

He waved his manus around speaking in beastial. A large ice dart was summoned that shot forward and impaled itself into one or the monsters. “Believe it or not. I was merely telling a story I grew up hearing when I was small. “

Once enough had been left for the area Griffin used [Fast [E] to run to a different area of Hornbach.

He threw a jab, which had better shape now that he had an idea to work with. Then another, yet this time threw an attack back. V sidestepped in time, and retaliated with a hook and an uppercut. They were somewhat slow to transition to each other, but the technique was more solid. "How was ⠞⠓⠁⠞?" he inquired.

Watching the recruit replicate his movements, Baharius could tell he still needed plenty of work. "Your feet are too close to each other." he called out attentively in response to his footing, "Not enough balance and support with a stance like that. Spread your feet further apart and keep your knees bent." The saurian then lifts one of his legs up before slamming it into the ground with a firm thud. Despite his bulky stance, he'd showcase a balanced yet spread footwork with knees bent and his sword held high. He makes sure to bring his tail around his waist as to better replicate a non-tailed stance. "Like so." He then showcases several swipes and basic maneuvers as his great sword lunges through the cold air. His thrusts were hard yet elegant, relying on timing to ensure a clean cut. When he moved, the saurian's footwork was lighter then one would expect from someone like him.

"Be light on your feet as well." he stated towards the recruit as he glanced over. That's when he saw his poor hands shaking. He grips his own blade handle firmly. "And remember. Firm grip." he reminds the recruit, ensuring he showed him exactly what that looked with his own, "Tight, but with room to change grip when necessary."

"Follow my lead."

With that, Baharius asked the recruit to follow and copy his movements as he initiated a slow but careful step-by-step process regarding a few swipes and thrusts. All a matter of taking things one step at a time...

Hikari let out a breath she hadn’t realized she was holding as the barrier solidified in front of her. It wasn’t perfect—too small, not quite as steady as she would have liked—but it worked. That was the important part. Her fingers twitched slightly at her sides, still tingling with the unfamiliar weight of magic. It was strange, exhilarating even, but also a little scary.

She glanced at Demetrius when he hesitated over her name. Right. That was still a thing. She hesitated for half a second before giving a small nod. “Hikari’s fine,” she said, voice softer than usual. “But, uh… I guess I’ll answer to both.”

Her shoulders tensed as she followed his gaze toward the creatures approaching the wall. At first glance, they didn’t look like much of a threat. In fact, they looked kind of… cute? Big golden retriever energy, if golden retrievers had too many teeth and a little too much drool. Her fingers curled into her palms as she bit her lip.

Was she really supposed to attack these things?

She knew, logically, that they were monsters. That if they got too close, they could probably do serious damage. But there was something about their wide, beady eyes and wagging tails that made her hesitate. Could she really just… hurt them?

Her hesitation must have been obvious because Demetrius’ advice cut through her thoughts—let the mana flow, guide your motions, use words or sounds that feel natural. Hikari frowned slightly, shifting her stance. He made it sound simple, but was it really?

Her gaze flickered to the ice dart forming in his hand, the way he spoke so fluidly, as if it were second nature. Telling a story… a lullaby…

A lullaby.

A memory flickered in the back of her mind—warm lights, a quiet hum, the distant echo of an arena filling with cheers. She had sung lullabies before. For herself. For her fans. For thousands of people who had once hung onto every note. It wasn’t an incantation, not exactly, but… maybe that was the point.

She took a breath, then exhaled slowly, letting the melody come naturally.

“Hush now, don’t you cry…
The stars will guide you home tonight…”

The air around her stirred, faint but present, as she lifted her hand. Dark mist curled from her fingertips, swirling outward like ink in water. She focused, shaping it—not into a shield this time, but into something more direct. A blade of condensed mana, sharp and humming with quiet energy. It trembled slightly, unsteady, but she pushed forward, flicking her wrist to send it flying toward the creature Arthur had pointed out.

With Baharius his training with the new recruit would find fruit, as the trainee managed to successfully practice their swipes and slashes properly. “Hikari sounds like a name someone would use in Kuridan,” Demetrius told Aedrianna.

Aedrianna’s form would be produced incorrectly, a small ball of light and darkness was produced, however, it was exactly that. Small no bigger than the palm of her hand, the condensed ball of mana did not land far, Demetrius shot more ice darts at more of the monsters, some became injured others were killed. The threat wasn’t eliminated. Demetrius explained the case to Aedrianna.

“See, Hikari. When conducting spells power levels—which can be difficult to manage at the first matter, from the looks of it you were trying to conduct a spell as powerful as the barrier. But even the most skilled and experienced mages can’t cast two spells at the same time of the same power output. The default reaction was a weaker spell. And if you weren’t still holding up the barrier with that spell your body would need a break of sorts. So How about you try something more powerful?”

Demetrius also suggested to her. Then turned his head to Arthur. “What is the progress?”

Arthur answered Demetrius by saying. “Almost done! Just stall the Pewchuis a little longer!”

What happened: Aedrianna’s spell got reduced to an F grade.

Why did that happen?: two reasons. The first one might be something new to be brought to attention in case no one has mentioned it before. But when duration is used on ability the grade of the ability is ‘locked out’ so to speak. And other abilities of the same grade can’t be used while one ability is active. (Similar to the reason you can’t use two abilities of the same grade in post) I can elaborate on this OOC. If need) the second one is, without duration E grade would’ve been on cool down so she wouldn’t have been able to use another E grade ability for one post.

Narrator recommendation? D grade abilities aren’t under cool down anymore for her anymore ;>

Griffin made it to the north side of Hornbach and followed a similar procedure. Dropping off supplies at various houses and businesses, or handing supplies to families she spotted in the city who were out and about. Meanwhile, with August and Marrianne they made it to the western side of Hornbach where they helped deliver the supplies around and aided a local Valcori church.
