Daniel Charter
Daniel wrapped his arms around Summers shoulders as he listened along to the music while she described that wanted to be a teacher, “honestly? I could see that. You’re kind and gentle. Being a teacher would really suit you.” He said with a small laugh and tapped her shoulders along to the beat, “I think people kind of just grow into what they look like they’d be. I don’t think you’d be able to picture me at some office job with a suit and tie could you.” He joked and looked around, pointing to a hippie couple dancing along to the music, “like I think they sell weed.” He laughed and propped himself back on one elbow so he could get a better look at Summer.
At her question about why he noticed her, his eyebrows drew together as he thought of an answer, “I don’t know really. You’re friends with my sister so that kind of deterred me from you. But now I don’t care much what other people think of me or what I do? But that night you just… seemed sad. Someone like you doesn’t deserve to be sad.” He explained, lightly running his finger tips along her arm. “I may not be the best person in town, but I don’t think others should feel sad or alone.” He said, lightly running his free hand over the sand, picking it up and letting it fall through his fingers.
Sitting back up, Daniel shifted some so Summer was turned more toward him, “don’t think I didn’t notice you before though. That night just felt like kind of a push. I don’t know what drew me toward you, but it just felt right to talk to you.” He explained as he gently pushed a stray piece of hair behind her ear. Without another word, he leaned in and pressed his lips to hers. He kept the kiss simple this time, letting her lead. He had been drunk the other night, and maybe it was the vodka that made his want to press further with the kiss. But she tasted like cotton candy this time instead of liquor. Maybe this kiss was better? He didn’t know but he was enjoying it as he brought his hand up to carefully rest on the girls cheek.
