ROLEPLAY HERE - IN CHARACTER -

Cedric Nomine

The newborn was not in his arms that day. A worried look plastered on his face. He wore his usual clothes with a little armor marked with the crest of House Merek. Though his armor was black instead of the traditional white and green. He turned to the voice that called out to him and he forced a smile.

"Yes of course, what is the matter... sir?" He couldn't decide which title to use on his new acquaintance for he had many.

Elijah looked Cedric over, and it was quite obvious he wasn't in his best state.

"Firstly, no need for that for that unconvincing grin, I'd much prefer a real frown over a fake smile. allow yourself to worry, it's understandable, trying to hide the fact will only make you worry more." Elijah spoke with the simultaneous authority and care only a teacher can possess.

"Second, what i came I to tell you is that if you need me for whatever reason tonight, simply tap the mark on this coin." Elijah pulled a coin out of his pocked that had been scratched over with an image of a flame, and he held it out for Cedric. "It will alert me if you seem to be in danger, or if you tap it," he explained. He waited expectantly for Cedric to take it.

The man's words brought a genuine smile to his face. He eyed the coin curiously and gratefully took it.

"Thank you, sir." He said as he observed it from his hand. "I must ask... they say you are a mage, and that mages are capable of magic." He looked at Elijah almost shyly; he wondered if he should even continue his statement. "And I was... wondering..." He took a deep breath and decided to ask. "How is that possible when you seem younger than most of the mages I've seen in my travels?" He looked down now, suddenly feeling sheepish in front of the older man. "You don't have to answer if my question bothered you, sir."

Hedwig Rowan

The lord stepped out of the bathroom, a robe covering him. His dark hair was dripping wet and his eyes were heavy. He wasn't able to get much sleep from the night before. He was not used to the temperature of the room, to the bed, to the place itself. Aside from that, the words that he exchanged with his sister played in his mind, over and over, like a singing jester at court. Part of him wondered if he was homesick.

He took a towel that was folded by the bed and brought it to his head, wringing out the water in his hair.

"Heeeeeedwiiiiiiig~" An all too familiar voice echoed in the room after the sound of the opening door. He turned around to see both of his sisters, already fully clothed, though not quite dressed for the ball.

"Why aren't you dressed?" Matilda frowned lightly. She was wearing a white dress that made her red hair much more noticeable.

"You look bad, dear brother." Seraphina commented as she found her way on his bed. As always, her clothes were borderline decent. Her light violet dress hung dangerously low. It already showed most of her chest. It was decorated in gold. Hedwig sighed and threw the towel at her. She rewarded him with a squeal as she squirmed away from the wet towel.

"Honestly, Sera, didn't you bring clothes that actually covers what needs to be covered?" He scolded.

He earned a laugh from her.

"I tried to tell her... even tried to change her wardrobe. But she refused." Matilda sat on the bed like a proper lady. Their father would have been proud.

"And what said is that there's nothing wrong with my clothes. It's proper enough to pass the standards of the court." She excused, "it just so happens that it's barely passing."

"That was my point exactly." Hedwig sighed and shook his head. "I hope your attire for the masquerade would be better than this." He walked towards his wardrobe and opened it, revealing his clothes.

"Oh trust me brother, when you see the clothes I have prepared even you'd want me." She teased.

"Seraphina! He's our brother." Matilda said, a blush on her face.

"So what?" She grinned.

"I thank you for your visit, however, I must ask you to leave." He turned around, clothes at hand. "I need to change."

"But I dont mi-" Hedwig took her by the hand and dragged her out of the bed. "HEDWIG!"

"See you in a while, dear sisters~" He sang.

"Bye Hedwig!" Matilda obediently followed.

"You'll pay for this!" Seraphina pouted as she crossed her arms when he finally let go of her.

"Of course. Later, when I'm dressed." He grinned and shook his head as he closed the door.

He wore his clothes in peace and combed the tangles out of his hair.

When he was decent, he decided to give his father a visit.

Elijah smiled at the younger man, and appreciated his curiosity. "Don't call me sir," he joked, "You're not one of my students." He hesitated a moment before answering the young mans question. "Well, that's an excellent question, one many have asked. To be truthful, I'm merely very skilled and very lucky. A sharp mind and a fortunate lot can do wonderous and terrible things. I've done both. And, I've been I have an old soul." He grinned. "Maybe that explains it? I don't fully know. That would explain my unquenchable idealism for certain though..." His voice faded off as he thought of how his idealism was being tested by Sera, and her passionate rejection of it. He sighed.

"Sorry," he said to Cedric, "with an old soul comes the worries of the elders. Worries of wasted time." He perked back up into a smile. "And the tendency to ramble comes to." He chuckled.

The knight nodded as he watched the older man curiously. He thought him strange, but interesting. He was not one that would be easily found.

"You, ambassador, are an interesting fella." He smiled like a child, and in a way, he still was. "And if you need to erm.. talk about your worries, I'd be more than glad to lend my ear." He wondered if that was too weird for him to say. "Have you seen the queen for your mask in the masquerade?" He asked.

The Vastikult Siblings

The gentle morning had come forth and Siantara found herself sitting on the chair facing the vanity table, brushing her hair. Seeming to be in a daze, she was brought back with a knock on the door. Before she could say anything in reply the door opened, revealing her brother, Sage, who was dressed in his usual clothing.

The eldest sibling leaned on the door, crossing his arms as he observed his younger sister, "Walk with me? I don't think father will approve if we chose to spar in here. Ah, speaking of father, he had informed me that he will be staying in his room. As his presence might be summoned."

The young lady scoffed into a smile as she stopped what she was doing and stood up. "Is sparing the only thing that goes in that mind of yours, dear brother? I am starting to think that this is the reason why you have uet to find a maiden to be your bride."She teased as she walked over towards Sage who has his arm offered to her to which she took and began their walk.

"Ah, her only role is just to produce me an he-" A smack on his shoulder cut him off, he turned his head to see his his sister angry, her eyes wide and brows knitted together.

"How dare you see a woman that way! Are you implying that mother was just there? To just produce an heir? Or me for that matter? We both know that I would be married off to some lord soon. Are you saying that I am nothing but a tool to produce a babe?" She pulled away from her brother and walked past him, leaving him with the feelings guilt and regret. He watched her retreating sister, even when angry she was able to keep her grace in movements.

Siantara met the head knight, Merec, along the way but did not bother to greet him. He looked at her form before at Sage, who was looking down scratching his head.

"I take it that you have said something that angered, m'lady?" The knight asked as he approached the confused lord.

Sage sighed, "I'm afraid that is the point." The knight chuckled, to which the lord nudged him.

As for the lady, she continued her walk alone, stumbling in the open corridor, revealing the beautiful green landscape of Viserp. She stopped for a moment to admire the view. It was completely different from the pale white snow of Walid. Deciding that it would calm her, she stayed where she was, enjoying the gentle breeze of the wind.

He laughed. "Interesting, huh? I'd like to think so. Thanks for the offer." He shook his head.

"I haven't I'll go see about that now. Remember the coin!" He said as he left. He walked to the queen's room, knocking.

(Sorry for the short post, On the phone, but I don't want to hold up the show.)

House Merek

The queen of only 24 years was fully dressed as she opened the door to her chambers. She greeted the ambassador with a warm smile as if they've been friends for a long time.

"A wonderful morning to you, ambassador Elijah!" She chirped. "I was just about to call the lords and ladies, see I made preparations, there are masks for everyone!" She said happily. The young queen was childish in nature. "I even made one for you... come on, follow me." She walked to her work room as she chattered about how excited she is for the masquerade.

"Not always... but I can't say no to my mother, can I?" He smiled warmly, admitting his regard for her. He shut his mouth and listened to her scolding. Truth rang in her words and he acknowledged his careless mistakes... he still had much to learn and it pained him to be reminded of it. A part of his mind traveled back to the time when he was told his family's passing, of how the cup of kingship was not originally his. But he couldn't help but smile at hearing the lady's words, it also reminded him that his childhood wasn't that bad... if anything, she made it worthwhile. "Absolutely wonderful." He beamed; a proud father. "Cedric had issues at first. It dawned to his mind that he shouldn't be called my son. He's even taken the name Nomine." He frowned lightly, "But you should see them together, Mo. The sight is just heart warming."

Moshira furrowed her brows upon hearing of Cedric's actions. "That boy doesn't have enough of the desert in him to feel proud of who he is. Wish my children inherited more from their fathers to be honest, they are too proud of their lineage. Give him to me and I'll talk to him about it." Listening further to Thomas' description of his sons relationship warmed her heart, many might argue that the man did not make the best king but he certainly was a great father. "...excited already to meet my future king and well if you let me call him, my grandson! Ha! Finally another babe! what is his name? Does he have blue eyes like yours?"

((Syra, it is already morning. I shall bid my farewell in this post and bury it with the rise of the sun.))

Thomas brightened up at the topic of his children. "Your grandson..." He smiled warmly and his eyes watered. "He is. I will name him on the morrow. And yes, Mo, he has my eyes." He melted at the memory of the sight of his new born son. He looked at the woman in front of her... the woman who he saw as his own mother. How he missed her. There was much to talk about, much to discuss, but the moon has risen and the day would start early.

"We'll talk tomorrow, Mo. I promise. But now, we both have to rest." He smiled and stood. "And maybe even, I'll see you at Talmodhor the next week. My son would need to see the desert."

House Merek

The eccentric queen almost skipped with every step she took. She passed by a knight and waved at him. The knight bowed in response.

"oh oh, dear sir, would you kindly help me deliver the masks to the lords and ladies in a while?" She asked happily. "Leaving them by their beds or tables, in their rooms, would do."

"Yes of course, my queen." He said before he left his presence. The queen turned to Elijah again as she put her hand on the door. "Here we are!" She said with a push. The room was cluttered and full of fabrics and materials, though there was not a single soul in it. On the long table, masks were arranged.

"You must forgive me for the mess, I'm afraid we haven't cleaned up yet." She seemed embarrassed. "But here we are." She took a Black half-mask decorated with white patterns. "What do you think?" She asked nervously.

@ThisUsernameIsALie

Elijah marveled at the copious amounts of fabrics, tools, masks, and other materials in the room. It took a moment for his eyes to settle on the mask the queen was holding before him. He took it and inspected it carefully.

"It's wonderful, fair lady! Truly perfect. Thank you ever so much," he smiled at the queen. He wondered if it would be offensive to ask his next request. "My Lady...," he began hesitantly, "would it be permissible for me to add my own touches to the mask? Being a mage, it would be relatively easy. Would you mind?"

~The third Moon~

The king stood in front of his throne. On his left was his queen holding their babe. In front of him, the lords and ladies and the gentries stood before him Everyone was decorated in elegant and vibrant colors. It was almost magical in the sense. They were all waiting for him to speak.

"Friends! Lords and Ladies..." He started, "I must thank you all for responding to my invitation to the celebration. An heir has been born to the throne of Renzivia, and he is your prince." The proud father's voice boomed through the Grand Hall. "So for tonight, I invite you all to drink, make merry! For the future of Renzivia is secured." He finished. He turned to his wife and took her hand. The musicians started playing and the audience broke off to talk and dance. It was a wonderfully happy sight. The couple walked towards the cradle that they have placed behind the thrones. They set their little one there.

"Watch him carefully." The queen smiled.

"With my life, my queen." Cedric smiled.

The Bastards of Talmodhor

Basil

Basil was already dressed as the early sun started rising in the sky. No doubt his mother was doing the same but he was not aware of the whereabouts of his other siblings. In the household, they would always play a game wherein the one who gets caught still in bed would be the slave for the day. More often than not it was Sohail but for very unsatisfactory reasons.

Basil internally shivered at the thought as he walked down the halls to catch a glimpse of Faraz. The man who was busy starting at if he was not mistaken, Siantara Vastikult. The eldest Faschia cleared his throat and smiled once he caught sight of his brother's wild green eyes.

"W-what?"

"She is a beautiful one, isn't she? I heard her way with the sword is extraordinary too."

Faraz sneered and crossed his arms, "Leave me alone, Basil."

"How has it been? Serving the Vastikults?"

"They have fine weapons, cold company and strong hearts. I wish I grew beards like them." Faraz pouted as he touched his chin much to the amusement of his older brother. Clasping a hand on the eldest twin, Basil soon left and went on his way to look for his mother.

Sohail
Sohail was dressing by the time the sun rose up. He left a note written in clean but delicate writing along with a jewel he had retrieved back in the mining areas of Zedohk. Combing back the hair of his sleeping companion, he smiled and bit his lip in an effort to hold back his tears. Nothing good would ever come out of such a union. Covering his mouth, he stood and wordlessly left as he always did. Into the back ways and inner workings of the castle until he arrived back at his own quarters. Tired and lonely once more without the company he so wished he could keep forever.

He breathed out and wished the night would come so he conceal himself once more.

Eliyah

Growing increasingly more frustrated as she walked passed countless nobles who knew not of her appearance or even received notice of her attendance, the young girl realized that despite knowing the blue prints of the castle it was still different compared to the real thing.

Servants quarters before you get caught

Servants quarters before you get caught

don't get caught

stop panicking, don't panic.

She wiped the golden sand that was starting to pour out of the corners of her eyes and bit her lip, retreating to a corner of the hall and to try and get her breathing even. "This is a bad idea, Eliyah. What if they find you? You should never have left for the love of Zedohk!" Wiping her face and trying to stay calm, she put on a brave face and journeyed on aimlessly, praying that her disguise as a common servant would keep her invisible enough.

Until she noticed the trail of sand she was leaving behind her.

She silently screamed inside.

Jarin Peyton

The head knight of House Rowan stood at the corner of the room, observing the beautiful Lady Seraphina as she found herself buried with countless men trying to hold a conversation with her. He sighed lightly and shook his head, not really understanding why and how men still long for her hand, for her favor... then again, they might just be after a night with her. He thought; somehow, the idea irked him. He shook his head lightly, reminding himself that it was not his place to think of such things against or for his lady. He was, after all, just a knight of her House.

He let his eyes scan the crowd, looking. For what, he dare not answer. Part of him tried to convince himself that he was searching the crowd for any sign of danger. Another argued that he was looking for the Lord Arthur who seemingly disappeared without a trace. But he knew... he was looking for him.

((Indirect: @Syra ))

Hedwig Rowan

The lord made his way through the crowds. He wasn't used to having something cover his face; he saw it as an annoyance. But nonetheless, he thought the masks were beautiful in their own way. He was about to reach his sister, Matilda, but a lady caught his attention. She had light golden hair and smooth pale skin. Her mask resembled an owl, similar to his.

And she was beautiful.

His heart raced as he made his way to her. She was with people, of course; such a beauty cannot be alone. But he didn't mind them, in his mind, there was only her.

"The way it was explained to me, the queen did not make masks inspired by the same animals, excluding hers and the kings." He started as he smiled at the lady in front of him. "So tell me, my lady, what are the odds of us having similar masks? I say it's a match made by fate itself." He said.

He took the lady's hand and bowed, planting his lips on it. He raised his head up and straightened himself

"Good evening, Lady Siantara. You look divine."

Seraphina Rowan

The lady was having the time of her life.

"You flatter me too much, my lord. Surely such sweetness that come out of your lips are mixed with bitter lies." She said in a sultry voice as she cocked her hips, Showing off her curves. The gentlemen that surrounded her stared openly, not even caring about etiquette and manners. Such things did not exist with the Jewel of Gaun.

"My words are truer than the jewels of Varyn!" He exclaimed, slightly flustered.

"Such a brave claim you make, my lord. Have you seen the jewels of Varyn?" She asked sweetly.

The lord was left speechless, which earned him a laugh from the lovely lady.

"You're adorable." She decided as she took her glass and placed it on her lips. Her eyes quickly scanned the crowd.

What are you doing, Seraphina? She scolded herself. No. You're not looking for him.

Matilda Rowan

The sweet and kind lady stayed seated at the table with two knights accompanying her. Her condition dared not to let her dance or stay at the crowded place. She admitted to herself, that she envied them. She too wanted to dance, to make merry, to drink to her heart's content. But she could not. She sighed lightly as she looked down. She traced the mouth of her glass gloomily.

"Something bothering you, my lady?" The knight asked.

"Nothing new, Philip." She replied, "Just the usual." She frowned. The knight nodded and said nothing more, not knowing how to comfort the lady.

Elijah smiled as the king finished his speech. He was quite ready to tuck into the food, or more truthfully, he admitted to himself, to see Sera. Or more accurately, work up the chutzpah to talk to her. It was quite easy to find her, just look for the gaggle of men following her around. Elijah barely managed to keep himself from casting a spell upon these men to make them all mysteriously ill to their stomachs, perhaps causing them to become an unsightly shade of green in the face. He kept his jealousy in check though, and kept a watchful on the young heir to the throne, or more accurately, watched the child through the eyes of others.

As he walked softly yet confidently through the ballroom, he could feel eyes tracking him. He suspected it was a mixture of equal parts curiosity, distrust, or approval of his outfit. He certainly had gone all out, tailoring his mask and robes to suit one another. His mask, showing his lips and the right side of his face, but covering the eyes and left side, was black, with strange white patterns constantly blooming and shifting over it. His robes were a matching black and white, though instead it was white with black patterns moving across it.

Eventually, after a while of meandering among the crowd, politely saying hello to nobles he had worked for or met, and turning away a few hopeful young maidens, who went away flustered and muttering about how the rumors of his dubious sexuality were now proven true. He rolled his eyes at their departure and words, though his mask very conveniently made that hard to notice.

Once again, he gazed over to where Seraphina resided, wearing a dress that left nothing to the imagination. She laughed alluringly as one of the men joked, and all of the other men followed after. Elijah gritted his teeth, able to take it no longer. He walked towards the men confidently, entering into the Ley as he did so, tampering with their minds. All of a sudden, the men's eyes seemed hazy for a moment, and then they collectively blinked, politely excusing themselves from Sera's company. She watched them leave in confusion. Elijah strode up, grinning mischievously.

"Being a mage has its perks," he informed Sera as he came up next to her. "Those men will likely find they suddenly desire the company of one another over your's or other maidens." His eyes twinkled with humor.

@CharmyPie

"What a wonderful evening... Hm, I believe the ball should have started by now..."

Orpheus then strolled into the ballroom - ever so elegant in his penguin tuxedo and black-gold quarter-mask. Of course, upon arrival, he greeted the king first, then the queen,

"My liege, your pulchritudinous majesty - might I say once more how honoured I am to be here in your presence. I shall do as I promise and give you the best performance you've seen from any musician. Congratulations once again and now if you'll excuse me."

Orpheus then approached the band stage - handing out music sheets and briefing the rest of the band on the pieces they were about to perform. After settling all that, he sat down on the bench by the grand piano on the centre of the stage and begun playing Chopin's Waltz in D-Flat Major AKA Minute Waltz with his arranged accompaniment by the rest of the bands.

HOUSE VASTIKULT

Grand and beautiful were the only words that fit the magical ball. The lights danced in sparkle above them, illuminating the room. Music gently flowed throughout the great room, but not helping the buzz of the guests inside. Masks were worn, small smiles were plastered on lips, dresses were worn as if to compete with the others, jewelries hung from necks and ears, sparkling when hit by the light.

The family members entered the room, the Lord Khrego proceeding to greet old friends, the young lady, still quite upset about earlier, left her brother standing by the door.

Both men wore rich dark hues of blue, their plain white masks and their hair color an accent to their clothing, as if they represent a cold dark night. Whilst the Lady Siantara wore an owl mask and dress as white as snow, it was simple yet the person herself made it look majestic. It was as if she represented the snow in their homeland.

Siantara Vastikult

In hopes of being alone deflated as people had come to talk to the lady. Most of them were men, endlessly complimenting and trying to gain her attention. While women gushed about grand material things. Yet she endured and plastered a small smile on her face, politely answering questions thrown to her. As she was about to respond to another question, a man of familiar brown hair approached her, not seeming to care about the others. Her eyes could not help but squint at his movements.

He raised his head up and straightened himself, "Good evening, Lady Siantara. You look divine."

Her lips twitched to a smirk, amused by the fact that they were indeed wearing the same masks. "How could I answer such question when it is not me but the queen who had thought of such a grand idea? Good evening to you, too, Lord Hedwig. And you look dashing yourself."

Sage Vastikult

The Lord Sage sulked as he leaned on the wall, his arms crossed as he observed lord and ladies drinking and dancing. His brows furrowed, his lips upturned, his scowl so evident even when he wore his mask. He let his icy blue eyes wander in the room, spotting the red-haired daughter of House Rowan, sitting quite gloomily on the table, the knight beside her asking her a brief question, probably asking if she was fine. His eyes landed on the other daughter of Rowan, as usual men flocked around her. He found his father busy talking with the other lords, perhaps reminiscing old tales. Even the head knight was conversing on the other side of the room. He noticed him sneaking glances at his sister, which made him scowl further. No one dared to approach the man. He just stayed there in the dark, brooding and alone.

Seraphina Rowan

Seraphina looked at him through her colorful mask. Her blue eyes looking at him through the feathers. Her lips gave him a pout.

"That was your doing then, yes? What if I told you that I might have been enjoying myself?" She decided to tease him. "And only through magic can a man turn his gaze away from me." She laughed as she took his hands. "Well, you got me alone now, dearest Elijah. Would you at least give me the pleasure of a dance?"

Hedwig Rowan

"I'd rather believe that we were meant to meet." He laughed lightly. "White suits you well, my winter rose. Which reminds me, do you still have my gift for you from long ago?" He inched closer to her, the smile never leaving his face. Hedwig felt surreal. He still had doubts of whether or not he was asleep, or awake.
