Cedric looked down and adjusted the babe in his arms again. The kind words of the stranger, though not intended, brought him back to remember his place in the world and how he did not deserve the kindness that he was shown. Was he not a bastard? Not wanting to be rude,

"I thank you for your words, Ambassador. You are too kind." He whispered softly as he gave a sad smile. Unknowingly, he stepped back a bit when Elijah turned to his father again. He wondered if it would be rude to stay or to leave.

"Thank you for allowing me to do so, sir. I would not and will not presume to separate the brothers, as you have ordered." He paused."You are welcome for my assistance, As for your question as to how I gained the knowledge I just provided you, I'm afraid it's against my personal code of conduct to divulge that information. I mean you no offense, King Thomas, but telling you my sources would violate my neutrality I'm afraid. It's rather risky for me to have even told you that I'm afraid, and definitely out-of-bounds to act as an effective guardsmen in your house. I don't wish to push my luck any further than necessary,"

"I understand, and again I thank you for the effort you've given." he sighed lightly, trying to understand the mess he's gotten into. The king turned his head to the man who was following him earlier. "Sir, if you would, have the chambermaids prepare a room for the ambassador. Give him a meal, water, wine, anything he wishes. Make his stay comfortable." The knight gave a small bow and went off. Thomas looked at his son for a while, wondering why he's taken a step back, before facing the mage.

"I would love to stay and keep your company, but I'm afraid there are things I must get back to." he said sadly. Doing his kingly duties, though he realizes its importance, wasn't his favorite part of the day. He was reminded of his father and his brother. The cup was never meant to be passed to him. He was never meant to be king.

Clouded by gloom of the painful reminder, the king could only offer a broken smile before he turned his back to leave. He dared not look back, not wanting his guest to see him emotional. Cedric watched his father leave, frozen. He gave a small sigh.

"I must apologize, there are some things that the mind cannot bring to words." He offered.

Just then, the knight returned.

"Ambassador Ilathen, your chambers have been prepared. We hope it is to your liking." The knight bowed.

Lord Cyrell Lancaster

All 5 of the siblings were seating at the grand table. They were discussing about different things they have experienced throughout the day. Cyrell just kept silent, he was eating his food. He never spoke a word, but was listening at everything they said. Jason noticed that he had not been talking, but did not do anything to change it. He knew that their relation is bad and would not like to spark an arguement. Breight and Kratos was busy exchanging stories. Jessica, however noticed and was a bit bothered by it. After they all finished eatimgm, Cyrell was about to head to his chambers when Jessica apprached her.

"You were not speaking much" She said "What's wrong?" Cyrell looked at her and sighed.

"I'd rather keep my mouth shut" He replied "and just listen"

"If that is so" Jessica said "We have to prepare our things that we would need for the travel and stay at viserp"

"I have already prepared my stuff" He replied. He looked at his sister and smiled. "You do not have to worry about me that much"

"Whatever, Lord Cyrell" Jessica said jokingly. She left him and went to her own chamber. Cyrell sighed and continued to walk to his chamber.

Lord Kratos Lancaster

Kratos was at his chamber preparing everything that he would need. He just chose the most beautiful of his clothes and and his mask. He got the chaimbermaids to delive his luggage to the carriage, although he would be riding his horse.

Lord Arthur Rowan

-With the Maester in his study-

The tall glass windows of the study let the light of the moon seep in. The lamp on the lord's desk burned and illuminated his brooding face. The pen in his hand moved swiftly and lightly across the parchment, leaving no room for mistakes. Standing behind him in the darkness, was the Maester. His hands were folded in front of him, and he was looking at the moon.

"M'lord, your children have all retired to their chambers. Will you not depart on the morrow? The body needs rest." The old Maester reminded him.

"I know." The lord said lightly, barely a whisper, not wanting to break the peaceful silence that enveloped them both. "But I do not know for how long the king would keep us in his audience. There is much work to be done, Maester Gavin, I cannot leave business by itself."

"Is that not why I am here, m'lord? To take care of your citadel when you are not around." The maester frowned lightly. Often would the uptight lord do everything himself, not having given his trust to anyone else; not even the man who raised him after his father's untimely death.

"Some things I must do myself." He sighed. "Maester, don't you think Hedwig has come of age?"

"He's excelled in his studies, he's able to keep a long spar even with yourself, m'lord. He grew up to be a great man, patterned to yourself." The maester nodded in approval.

"He has 20 years to his name, correct?" The lord made sure.

"Yes, m'lord." The maester took a step forward, trying to see the written words on the parchment.

"I think it's time to remind some old friends about a promise made years ago." He said with a smile. He took the letter and folded it. He sealed in an envelope with the crest of House Rowan. He turned from his seat and handed it to the Maester. "Keep this safe and deliver it to Lord Khrego of House Vastikult."

"Yes, m'lord." The Maester bowed and exited the room.

The lord Rowan however, stayed. He stretched his neck and turned his attention to another blank piece of parchment. He dipped his pen in ink and let it dance on the paper.

"Now, for other matters." He said.

Elijah thanked the king as he left, automatically noting his seemingly emotional state, and cataloging the information in the back of his mind and how it may useful or detrimental. Then, he turned to the knight who had informed him of his chamber being ready, smiling and telling the knight to wait just a moment before showing him to his room. He settled his gaze on Cedric, giving him a soft smile.

"I can agree... but perhaps it more often is the case that the mind chooses or fears bringing things to word, and not that it can't. Just a thought." With this, he nodded to Cedric to signal his departure, and allowed the knight to guide him to his room.

Given that Orpheus' cottage wasn't too far away from Viserp, he arrived not too long after his departure. Upon his arrival, he first approached the castle gates and got himself inside by persuading the guard that he is a musician for the ball. Of course, the gullible guards let him in but kept close eyes.

Upon waltzing into main hall (still under the supervision of the guards of course),  Orpheus turned around around and asked the guards behind him, "Would it be too much for me to ask of a royal's presence?"

House Lancaster

The soldiers, horses and carriages were prepared. They have been outside of the Lavosh palace awaiting for their lords and ladies. The citizens of Sarg were all lined up the streets to bid them farewell and wish them safe travels. The three brothers got on their horses while the sisters got inside their carriages along with lady annabeth and Master Castor. Ser Bryan has already arrived at Lavosh and was on his horse behind Jason. Ser Gabriel Thorne is the one leading. They have begun their travels and are now heading to Viserp, they expect to arrive before the third moon.

Lady Seraphina Rowan

The light of dawn broke through the window. Seraphina rolled on her bed with a groan. Her eyes fluttered open at the obstruction that she encountered. Beside her was a man whom she has taken to bed with her. She sat upright in a second, pushing him away with hushed whispers.

"Get up, get up! Why did you stay?" She hissed lightly. Groggily, the man squinted up to see her, a smile on his face. The annoyed lady took a pillow and smacked his head. "Are you dull? I told you to get up!"

"What's the rush, m'lady?" The young knight, new to the service of House Rowan, pushed himself upright as he stared at her beauty.

"You forget that we're to leave today, at the first break of dawn!" She raised an eyebrow. "Quickly, go."

"I do not understand why you are in such a rush for me to leave, was last night no-" Seraphina glared and put a hand on his lips to shush him.

"You're going to tell me how wonderful it was for you, and how much you love me. You're going to tell me how you will talk to my father and ask for my hand in marriage. You'd prove to me how great the House you come from is, to win my affection and favor." She recited. Dumbfounded, the knight gave a nod. Sera pulled her hand away. "I don't need your words. Leave before my father finds out. He will have your head."

Finally, the knight gave a sharp nod. He stood up quickly and collected his items before rushing out of the door, feeling used and slightly heartbroken.

Seraphina, of course, couldn't care less. She stretched on her bed and put on her robes just when her chambermaid entered, bringing her breakfast. The lord Arthur disliked eating with company, so it was a practice in the house that meals were taken alone. Once in a while, the siblings share a meal in the dining hall, to put it to some use. But never have they had a meal with their father. Not even Matilda.

"I saw that, m'lady." The chambermaid said as she set the tray on her bedside table. Sera sat up and adjusted herself. The maid took the tray again and set in on the lady's lap. She smiled at her.

"And father will never know, right, Martha?" She sang.

"Not a word from me, m'lady." The young woman with dark hair and blue eyes answered. "Though I must ask, why him?"

"Why who?" Sera asked before she took a bite, already forgetting the man took to her bed.

"Why the new knight?" Martha clarified.

"First of all, he doesn't know how many lives I've ended prematurely." Sera sneered. "And he's quite attractive."

"M'lady, it is my prayer that you find someone you love." The maid told her.

"And it is mine that you abandon such foolish thought." Sera countered. "There is no such thing as love."

Defeated, Martha left the lady alone to her meal. When she's finished, Sera stood from her bed and walked over to her closet to get dressed. Most of her belongings has already been packed for their trip to Viserp. She chose to wear an elegant blue gown made out of silk, decorated with lace. It wasn't revealing, but the lady looked more than desirable in her clothes. She figured that it was enough to catch her father's attention, but passable to the courts of the king.

"Seraphina, must I remind you of the time? We must depart." Hedwig knocked on her door. The lord stared at his beautiful sister, a gentle smile on his face. Sera turned around to meet his eyes.

"What do you think, brother?" She asked as she twirled for him.

"You look ravishing, as always." He admitted. "Now can we get a move on?

"So eager." She rolled her eyes but giggled. She walked towards him and he offered his arm. She took it and she pressed herself against him. Hedwig didn't mind. He was used to her little games.

"Father is waiting, you see." He explained.

"Will you ride in the carriage with me?" She asked.

"You'd have me go through that embarrassment, sister? Have you no love for me?" Hedwig grinned.

"It is because I love you that I am asking you." She teased.

They made their way outside of the castle. The servants came out to bid them farewell. With them, Sir Jarin brought with him a number of 20 knights, including himself. He assigned 5 to each of the family members. The ladies were in a carriage. Another carriage was provided for the belongings that they brought with them. Seraphina's items took most of the space.

"Did you sleep well, dear sister?" Matilda gave a smile.

"It was pleasant." She said with a yawn. I didn't get much sleep though, regardless, it was a pleasant night.

"You seem awfully tired. Would  you like to lie down on my lap?" The kind girl offered.

"I'd rather not ruin my clothes. Thank you though." She grinned.

She looked out of the window and watched the road as they made their way to Viserp.

~The second moon~

The king was walking by when he heard a man's request. He peered down from the second floor to see the scene below him.

"Who is it that requests to be in my audience?" He asked, a smile on his face. The man he saw was not familiar to him. He walked slowly towards the staircase, making an entrance. He kept his eyes on the guest. The guard took a step back and bowed before his king. "Good day to you, sir." He couldn't afford to be disrespectful.

((I apologize. I can't make long posts right now, as my schedule is really tight. Though as promised, one paragraph minimum.))

"Ahaha! Good day to you too, my liege!" Orpheus exclaimed ere bowing in faux respect.

"I am a travelling pianist and I've heard of the wonderful news! An heir to be precise, no? Haha, words do spread fast don't they? Regardless I request that you give me the privilege of playing in your ball. I can assure you, your majesty, that I am quite the fast learner - will you so kind to list any requested pieces to be played, I shall see to it that I will perform them flawlessly."

Avani

"You haven't heard yet?"

The innkeeper of the place he had chosen - a bit run down, and far too loud for his taste, but he didn't have much of a choice - seemed surprised when he asked her what the commotion was about. "You're one hell-uv'a-guy", sge laughed, and took another chug out of the impressive glass of beer beside her, "the entire world knows. Our dear king got a healthy, newborn son. Big celebration 'morrow, too." That certainly was a great thing, he thought with an inward sigh, but was it really necessary to flood the streets?

Avani already had his purse in hands, counting the remaining coins he had with increasing distress. The woman opposite him patted his shoulder, one half consolation and the other trying to get his attention, when she heard barely any coins clinging. "Free of charge, lad", she said with a wink and a bright smile, "Don't wanna get eaten by bandersnatches for being heartless, aye?" He could only nod, tears of eternal gratitude in his eyes. The innkeeper waved him off, laughing again. "Don' get emotional on me, mate. If it cheers ya up, dinner will be served soon." She drowned the last of her alcohol down her throat and wiped it off with her sleeves. "I'll have to prepare it. See ya, lad."

Avani gave her a half-hearted wave until she disappeared behind the kitchen door - he winced when he heard glass shattering - and then decided that it would be better to stay at the inn today. He would just entertain himself with a glass of milk (though he worried he might actually get beat up if he ordered that here) and drawing snowflakes on the windows.

HOUSE FASCHIA

Early morning of the Second Moon

"Have you no decency?" Faraz sneered as his older half-brother Sohail entered into his room with nothing but his trousers on, carrying a handful of garments in different shades of deep blue.

"What? You should be delighted to see me", the blonde beauty walked over to the large mirror on the other side of the room, "After all, it isn't everyday you're here to make angry faces at me." He smirked at him as he dropped the clothes into the adjacent love seat. Throwing his long silky locks over his shoulder, he started rummaging through his belongings.

Faraz grumbled as he unpacked his own things on his bed, "Ugh why are you here this early in the morning? Shouldn't you be somewhere...raping someone?" at his weak attempt at small talk, Sohail threw his head back in laughter. "You always speak so harshly but it never fails to surprise me and yes, I was with someone but he had to be in the kitchens in preparation for the morning meal. We are leaving for Viserp after all." Looking over his shoulder with a sly smile.

The white haired boy sighed upon being reminded of why he had to come all the way home from the Oasis "Wish I was the cursed one so I could skip this stupid occasion." Faraz mumbled.

"You don't mean that." Sohail said calmly as he slipped on a blue colored silk garment which hung in all the right places but was too conservative for his taste. "The Vates told us her power was a gift so we should treat her condition as something of a blessing." pulling up the sleeves, he decided it wasn't for him and shrugged it off.
"Frankly, it didn't look like a blessing to me when Basil showed up in the Great Hall for dinner last night." Faraz mentioned as he unfolded his own garment for the visit, a green and black robe which were matching with his twin, except his was cut shorter on the sleeves and down the neck line as he requested.
"He deserved that and you know it." Faraz rolled his eyes as he sat on the bed and threw the garment aside. The room grew silent and seeing the strained expression on Sohail's face, the young blacksmith opted to try and change the subject. "...so..will you participate in the masquerade ball?"

"Of course but I am afraid no one will recognize me...especially those whose attention I hope to have to myself. Will you?"
"Not my type of party, they won't be serving enough ale for me to even want to go."
"Wouldn't you like that? An opportunity to be someone who won't be judged immediately? Maybe you'll even find a good man or woman to keep you company for the evening." Sohail teased the green eyed scorpion with light laughter, knowing full well how awkward he was around that topic.

"S-shut up! I'm not some kind of serial rapist like you, Sohail!" Faraz stuttered to bark out, trying to make an annoyed enough expression to hide his embarrassment. Laughing again and wiping imaginary tears around his eyes, Sohail tried on another piece of clothing. "It isn't rape if they want it you know and come on, you're a young man! Learn to live a little!" he turned around in his new outfit and nodded to himself. Faraz gave the blonde a sour face of disapproval, "Yeah whatever, are you happy now? please get out of my room and my sight" he spat out.
"Ouch. You really do need to work on your words. Well thank you for letting me use the mirror and I'll see you at breakfast."

Upon hearing this, Faraz down at his clothing which bore the crest of house Mitri, a large Jabawocky's wing embroidered on its sleeve. "I know." he admitted quietly.  "I'll be there." he cleared his throat in response, not quite used to giving such tame replies.
Sohail smiled and then exited into the cold morning and long winding corridors of the castle Talmodhor.

Emile

The sound of steel rang out in early moments of the dawn, along with it was the sound of rising panic. "Quit messing about and kill the sodding bastard!" The voice commanded to his band of highwaymen, all frantically scrambling to lay sword upon flesh to no avail. What had started as a routine raid for the group had turned into a slaughter, having lost half of there numbers already, the rest were quite reluctant to jump at their target...but even more reluctant to disobey orders. The ten men remaining circled the lone armored fighter, hoping to find some sort of way to bring down the man with the sword.

"I thought you were supposed to be fierce! Or is that on;ly when you face those who can't fight your numbers?" the boy called out, the ground around him stained with the blood of the fallen. "I'll tell you what, you run away now and maybe the lawmen let you rot in a cell...at least you'll have your lives~" "You die to him or you die to ME" the leader of the group called out, clearly not liking the way his men seemed to lower their swords. With the ultimatum ringing in their ears, a few of them ran at the armored figure, "Well, can't say I didn't try...Let's count it down~" The figure's body was unusually lax for someone in this predicament, but as the first reached him, taking a wild swing, it was clear that there was no reason for the figure to be afraid. A quick slash from his own blade sent the highwayman crumpling to the ground.

"Nine." Another ran at him and attempted to pierce the boy with a well placed thrust, only to find his target spinning to the outside of his sword arm and severing the bond between his head and his body. "Eight" The boy quickly found himself clashing with yet another, though this one seemed to think he could overpower him long enough for his ally to deliver a killing blow. This however. was just not the case, the boy grabbed the man by the shoulder upon hearing his comrade's battle cry and all but lifted the man into the trajectory of the swing, the sickening crunch of mace meeting flesh rang out. Before the highwayman could recover from killing his own ally, the boy stuck his sword through the man's throat and quickly slashed it free. "Six...It's not a sneak attack if I can HEAR you~" He taunted the remaining men who took this as the bait it was meant to be, two more lost their wits and flew at him in a blind rage, swinging wildly to hit anything they could.

But they only found steel as the boy deftly defended himself against the two highwaymen, before going on the offensive, quick cut to right one's leg, parry the other, move left to avoid the desperate retaliation of the now kneeling one, come back with a kick to the head, stab the other one in the abdomen as he came in for a strike, free the blade and finish the downed one off. All of this in a span of a few seconds, flowing like water, "Four. So would you prefer all at once now or one by one~"

"Ahaha! Good day to you too, my liege!" Orpheus exclaimed ere bowing in faux respect.

"I am a travelling pianist and I've heard of the wonderful news! An heir to be precise, no? Haha, words do spread fast don't they? The king smiled, pleased by the turn of events.

"Actually, do you mind playing for me?" He asked. "I'd like to hear what music you know." He let his eyes wander the Hall. In the afternoon, the queen's men would crowd the room, making it fit for a royal ball; for now, it was empty. He looked towards the guard and gave a small nod, dismissing him. Wordlessly, the guard left with a bow, leaving the two men alone. "I'd also like to know your name, sir. And where you come from..."

"You're a rather peculiar man, Orpheus. But I shall do as you ask. No more questions shall come from these lips regarding memories of the past." He knew what it was like having something behind you. But rather for the king, he had nothing behind him. He felt a lacking in his being, and that emptiness being the life he should have lived. The king took a step back and started walking. He gestured for his guest to follow. He walked in silence for a while, letting the man take in the castle. "The masquerade will not be starting until tomorrow evening. The lords and ladies will surely arrive at some point today. I leave the music room for your private use. A servant will come see you and provide a mask. I also invite you to stay for the night." He opened a door to his left after walking through the halls.

The ride for Viserp was a success. They, however, encountered a few bandits which was quickly taken care of by Ser Gabriel and his men. The magnificent city of Viserp came into view. The Lancaster Banner was held up high, so that the guards would recognize them. Horns were blown to signal the arrival of the Lancaster's. Jason was up front along with his brothers and followed by Ser Gabriel and Ser Bryan.

"We have successfully arrived" Jason said with a big smile "At the magnificent city of Viserp." Kratos who was next to him chuckled.

"It has been a long time since the last time we were here" Kratos said "And it was before that accident" Jason looked at him and nodded.

"It has been a long time indeed" Jason said

The ranger stood watch, never sleeping and never resting. A messenger bird had soon come around "Diola lle dulin" he unrolled the note and read about the kings child.  the second moon has risen, for i must be vigilant, for they are more active this time. he thought while he stood watch. Alister used his language  to activate his eye. "imya i' night yassen i' celeb sight" everything be came clear as day to him. he fired routine shots to keep away any of them, but what was strange was more shots had to be taken. Hmm i fear the child is the cause. i must ride and tell the king. Alister mounted and rode off to Viserp. after a several day ride he arrived at the kingdom. he headed straight to the castle and spoke with the guards. "I am the Ranger of Cross Watch and I request audience with the king. its about the safety of the king's child."

(i thought since the ability is from the 'first age' i would give him a old language. sorry if it changes the words a little some words aren't translated)

"I cannot be any more grateful than I already am. Thank you, your majesty."

Orpheus then waltzed into the music room - still bewildered by the wonderful architecture presented before him. It made him question his kind's hatred towards the humans - they seemed fairly gentle after all. Perhaps some things just can't be forgotten...

Regardless, the music room impressed him only more - especially since Orpheus had always been a sucker for art and design. He marvelled upon the grand roccoco ceiling complimented by incandescent chandeliers and the polished parquet - they were as glossy as they could be.

And of course, a grand piano being the cynosure was magnificent. He then pulled the cloth blanket off of the keyboard and checked the tune (which was obviously flawless) ere warming his fingers up with Chopin's Fantasie Impromptu.

((You needn't tell me - I know Chopin had yet to exist back then but how else was I supposed to describe what he was playing? Let's just assumed he composed this along with some other soon-to-be-plagiarized clssical pieces for the sake of the story... Besides, it's a wonderful piece and I suggest you guys check it out - it's one of my favourites.))

The knights stationed at the castle entrance eyed the ranger curiously. They gave a nod and lead him to the grand hall.

"Please wait for the king." The knight took a step behind him whilst the other went to alert the his royal majesty.

The king stood watching the musician's fingers make his magic with the piano. A smile found its way to his lips, it was lovely. Sadly, his enjoyment was interrupted.

"A ranger requests to be in your audience, my king." He said as he bowed. "And the Lancasters draw near."

"Did the ranger state his business?" The king sadly asked, not wanting to ruin the song.

"Issues of the prince." The king frowned, feeling pained.

"Excuse me, but there are things I must attend to." He told the musician.

The House Vastikult had arrived at the Sha'Voern Keep by the time the sun had begun to set in the horizon. They stayed for a night in the Keep before continuing their long journey. It was quite an inconvenience to wear their clothing for the ball when leaving. But it was the Vastikult's tradition. To leave and come back proud and prepared.

The keepers of the Keep have welcomed them and provided everything that they needed. They slept through the evening, their bodies adapting to the temperature of the new land. Once the light of dawn crept through to sky, they have began to journey on ahead to arrive at Viserp in a favorable time.

In between their trip had they rested their horses and men, regaining their stamina. After all, they were not in a hurry as they have already covered almost halfway of the trip to the capitol. And it was only midnoon, plenty of time. The Lord figured that they arrive after the sun sets. He looked at the vast grasslands of the wilderness. His eyes took in the greens he didn't normally see in his homeland. The Lord Sage stood next to him, joining his father as they both stood silently whilst observing the scene before them.

The young lady just stood behind, looking proudly at what was left of her family. But a pang of pain broke her smile, guilt took over as she imagined how her younger brother and mother would've been there standing beside the two.

Once they have rested enough, Lord Khrego sent out a bird to the castle to inform them of their arrival before proceeding to head to Viserp. The horses ran across the grass, the wind blowing as it made them dance. The blood orange sun had begun to set in the horizon. In the distance, one could make out a small silhouette of a grand castle. Tiny glows of orange bloomed from the small windows, the darkness of the night slowly creeped in, making the lights glow clearer.

Finally, they have reached the citadel of Viserp. Knights have welcomed them with respect, the Lord Khrego and his men proceeded to the castle. Their horses clopped in the streets, people outside have stopped to look at the group. All men looked straight ahead, the lords had their usual scowl. The lady in the carriage took a peek outside, curious of the new land outside.

They rode towards the castle gates, their silence was more deafening than the horses' hooves. Moments after, they were a few steps away from their destination, the castle gates lit up with bright fire.

Nightale Woods

Time stood still in the forest.

Travellers who passed the ominous woods always mentioned one thing; despite bright daylight relentlessly shining down from above, it could never reach through the thicket of the tree's crowns. The path was shrouded in an unnatural, dark blue colour that barely looked like it was merely dim - no, they'd say, these were no shadows, this was pure, malicious darkness. Some told other stories, of voices, laughing and whispering on the other side, beckoning to follow into the depths. None of them dared to.

They'd learned.

For the few unlucky that were charmed by the beings invitation, they never got to tell their story. Lights that danced and laughed, the soft rustling of the leaves (but there was no wind), the grand lake that flowed in the heart of it all, a woman that recieved them warmly.

The scythe that sliced them in two.

Aava considered herself one of the more sociable Them, had there ever been a scale. Though her interactions with uninvited visitors bore more similarity to a mortician preparing a corpse than two friends having a chat, it was still rare to find one of them who preferred to let it's victims stay comfortable for a while before the inevitable happened. This could hardly be said for others of her species. She dimly remembered a pair of twins - beings similar to her, one of the quiet sort and the other an insufferable brat - blessing, in the loosest sense of the word, her with their presence, and more strongly remembered the feeling of disgust when the shorter brother swatted one of her precious wisps just because. And then proceeded to tell how he managed to grill a human as he idled on the entrance to the ruins.

Just because he could, and when he could, he would.

She despised this sort of mentality deeply - there was no benefit to cruelty, and though some might argue that the fate she offered was much worse, doing what was necessary had it's sacrifices. If it kept the forest alive, she would act, but never overstep her boundaries. The woods were much more powerful than she could ever hope to be, either way. It served as a little reminder of her devotion, and was coming along quite nicely.

Recently, an interesting little development had reached her ears. The king's family had expanded, and a small boy had joined the ranks. But other, more sinister whispers followed soon after... they travelled fast, especially within one's own species. These certainly piqued her interest.

She couldn't help but wonder what a king's soul would be worth.

(You can tell I ran out of ideas halfway through. :-( But at least I'm done with introductions. Phew.)

Sir Jarin Peyton

The lord Arthur rode ahead of the knights. On his right was his son, Lord Hedwig. On the right most part of the formation was Sir Jarin Peyton Head Knight of House Rowan. The carriage was surrounded by the knights that Jarin hand picked from Lord Arthur's ranks. From where he was, he could easily hear the conversation that went between the lords.

"I trust that you remember all of your lessons; the faces and names of all the lords and ladies that will be with us in this celebration." The lord said.

"Of course, father." He paused. "I dare not taint the reputation of House Rowan."

"Taint.." The lord scoffed. "Your sister's done a mighty job at that."

"She's having difficulties." He tried to reason.

"Difficulties finding a new man to bring to bed with her?" He grit his teeth. "Why must she dishonor me?"

"I take it father, that she does not understand you, nor do you understand her." He suggested.

"And you understand the both of us? Highly unlikely, Hedwig. You are more like myself than you are your sister. Ever since you were young, you were an excellent son. Never have you failed me." He nodded as he said these things. Hedwig felt a sense of pride and fulfillment.

Deciding that he's heard enough, Jarin turned his attention to his surroundings. The lords' conversation was often cut and a silence would fall upon them all. Occasionally, the lords would direct a question towards him, which he'd answer as briefly as possible. The sky was clear and the sun shined brightly on them. The gentle breeze cooled their skins and eased the scorching of the sun1. The green grass of Viserp was an unusual sight to Jarin. Everyday he marched around the castle and rode through the citadel, seeing nothing but gold. The green things almost felt alien to him; it felt wrong. The citadel came into view after a while of riding. It was massive, and somehow, it looked new. Personally, Jarin has only been in the capitol once, when he was just a child with his father. Things have changed since then. The citadel looked as if it grew in size, but of course, he could never be sure. A few more hours of riding, and they reached the citadels gates. They did not stop, they did not bother explaining themselves. The guards let them in. Such was the influence of the rich House. They made their way to the castle. They slowed down into a trot as they neared the gates. They opened for the house and they stopped to dismount in front of the castle entrance.

The ladies exited their carriage, looking as beautiful as ever.

"Don't you think that the green grass is strange?" Seraphina asked as she looked at the ground.

"I think you're just used to the golden fields." Matilda replied.

"Are you ready to have an audience with the king?" Arthur asked his son.

"Perhaps tomorrow, father. Wouldn't you think he'd be preoccupied with preparations today?"

"He is the king, Hedwig. He does not oversee such things." He sighed.

"But from what I've heard, he's quite the odd one."

Jarin turned to the knights of the king while their own men carried the belongings that the family has brought with them.

"Who else have arrived?" He asked the man stationed by the door.

"House Lancaster has arrived moments ago, and a couple of men who asked to be in the audience of the king." He answered. Jarin thought it strange that the king would allow an audience with common folk. Something the lord Arthur would never do.

"And of the Talmodohr?" He asked. "And Torden?"

"They have not yet arrived." Jarin nodded at his answer.

"thank you, sir."

Alister bowed to the king. "good day to you M'lord. I am Alister Evans, Ranger of Cross Watch." he rises. there has been a rise of activity in the night tale woods and fear the prince is the cause. " he removes his hood in respect to the king. "I believe the forest activity will spread and may come to harm the prince. " he puts his hood back on for it is a sign of disgrace for the hood of a ranger to be off too long. there is a small pause then a silver glow emanated from inside the hood. "i' hin, y' rato beleg aran" he said in the ancient language 3 times. the glow died down and he held his head. "I believe your son will soon be a mighty king, but if he were to be taken from this world, ...... A darkness could fall. I wish to personally guard him until he is to inherit the throne. i know this is a huge choice to make, but as a Ranger my life belongs to the kingdom and you M'lord, and i vow to never let anything happen to the prince if you accept.he bows again but deeper.

House Lancaster

They went through the gates of the large walls of Viserp. Many citizens gathered and watched them. It was mostly ladies who were adoring the 3 brothers. They shouted compliments at them. The guards were trying to hold them back as they would force themselves nearer to them.

They arrived at the grand palace.

Jason, Kratos and Cyrell got of their horse. The sisters also and the other council members got out of their carriages. They walked together towards the palace halls. Jason approached a guard and told him to inform the king that they have arrived.

House Merek

The king sighed lightly and massaged his temples. The babe wasn't even a week old! He looked at the ranger and smiled sadly.

"Rise, Sir Alister." He said. "I thank you for your offer but I'm afraid that I cannot entrust my son to a man I've just met." He tried to explain. "I appreciate your concern and your words are heavily weighed, but I trust my son, Cedric, with everything." He paused. He thought of the odds of three men coming to see him in one day. The king grew suspicious. A knight entered and gave a bow.

"My king House Rowan has settled in their respective rooms. House Lancaster are by the gates. They wished to alert you that they've arrived." He bowed before giving his news.

"Heh, I see that Lord Arthur still sees the Viserp as a home to himself." The king grinned. "Do they wish to be in my audience as well? I'm afraid that I'm quite preoccupied at the moment. The queen would need me later in the day."

"They simply told me to alert you, my liege." The knight frowned slightly, thinking that he should have asked the lord before going to see the king.

"Very well" He looked at the ranger again and gave a small smile. "You are both dismissed." He said before he left.
