Hello all. Something simple. Just wanted to interest check how many people would be interested in seeing/participating in this. It would be a group of users coming together every once in a while to do something for the site. This could be starting a role-play, making a new system, creating a new kind of character sign-up, debating over an aspect of role-play that's not been properly covered or is touchy; things of that nature.


The point of this group, would be to mainly explore and push the boundaries of what we can do with role-play, while at the same time, giving back to the community in the process.


As for who'd be leading, there wouldn't be anyone in charge. It would work like a panel where users can suggest something they'd want the group to do, with the other participants having the right to pass on it or help out.


This is to foster conversation, innovation, and discovery. All across the site, there are different methods and opinions on how to do something, from creating a character to the main emphasis of a role-play. I want to bring them together, get some action, and hope something good comes out of it.


I am obsessed with growth and figuring things out. I am reaching out to find some like-minded people who feel the same way.

I will be watching from a bird's perspective. This sounds like a wonderful idea, Masque, though I am still on the fence about it. The goal of this discussion and group is not quite clear for me. Once both of these elements are defined, I may make a definite decision.

Okay.This is to form a group. The group will be having discussions if they choose. Say, you, Atom, and I are in. Atom suggests to design a new character sheet. You and I both agree to participate. A thread would be created and we would has it out. I have strong opinions on this, such as removing the biography section completely, but I would expect another person to vehemently argue its importance. The point would be to fix or come to a conclusion about an issue, with the discussion being the main draw. I honestly don't expect anything to ever get done, but hey, something might. And if it overcame a lot of different opinions, then it is going to be something really helpful.


Discussions would be a part of everything the group tries to do, but the goal will be varied. Creating a role-play for example. Someone could propose creation of a short-term role-play that a large number of users would like to see. I know a lot of users here have tried to run a Game Of Thrones RP, so giving back would be in the form of a well-run, high-quality GoT RP, that users can participate in, even if just for a week or two. Site contest promotion via links in signatures, a day dedicated to introducing new members, jumping into an RP to play some heroes/villains for a few scenes (I'm sure the GM would appreciate it!). Poems, collaborating with short stories on chosen content. There are MANY directions the group can go in. Not strictly limited to Rp'ing.


Personal agendas are very welcome too =P. How can they not be? This would be fine, since members would have the option of not joining into what they're not interested in. I do hope the horizons of some users get broadened though. Like trying something they're not used to, you know?


Miscellaneous:

• There would be Main thread listing finished and ongoing discussions, as well as any other projects. There would only be a certain number open at a time, to keep things organized.
  
• There would be a 2 separate threads. One for serious group-related comments/suggestions only and the other as an open OOC.

Thank you for the clarification, Masque. This almost sounds like it could be posted as a hosted project, given you expect to post a couple of planning threads. I couldn't imagine anywhere else you would be able to post an open OCC chat thread without it being considered spam. And that way, you could separate projects into different threads (posting them and locking them whenever it is suitable).


Seeing as I am already coming up with my own suggestions for this group, I think it has become evident that I will be participating.

Apologies for the late reply. Thank you for the suggestion! I never considered having it be a hosted project, but now that you say it, it makes sense.


After some editing, I was originally going to have this post be the main thread, linking to other parts of the group. I have a few empty role-plays set up around site, so one of them was going to link here as the official OOC.


You bring up a good point though about being able to lock threads. That would be very helpful. I'll see what is said about having it be hosted project.

You can continue to maintain this thread as the main one, and if you do decide to create this as a hosted project, simply have one of the moderators move it into the appropriate forum. Having it as a hosted project may be a lot easier in terms of keeping track of things. That way all of your content isn't just spread in random places on the site.

@White Masquerade and I are currently in the planning stages for this project! Please keep an eye out for our forum in the near future! We will make sure to link any interested users once all of the boards are set up. In the meantime, start to brainstorm some ideas, and tell your friends! This is meant for a group of people who want to be active in the community and have fun!

That's quite alright! Members are not obligated to participate in everything. We understand that we all have a life outside of RpNation to take care of first and everyone will show different levels of passion. Please do not feel like you are restricted from joining because you can't contribute to everything. ( )
