Rogue Waves has returned to gather some yummy fresh meat (no cannibal undertones) to embark on our next season together. We will be beginning this season with an influx of characters from both new writers and existing writers, so that newcomers can familiarize with what characters are new, and have fresh opportunities for plotting.

At acceptance, all new characters will be placed in a little Orientation Week area in the server where we will have activities and icebreakers to help integrate them (and you) into our wee community. I'm in my camp counsellor era.

You do not need to read back the in-character (unless you want to), however I do urge skimming character sheets or pitching custom ideas to me via dms so I can direct you away from something that may already be present in the cast. There is a list of what I am/am not looking to accept in the google document, taken face-claims, as well as some new role pitches and past ones that have become available again.

Since the Drowned is a pitched idea that you can be quite malleable with, there's isn't any urgency to dm me unless you feel really uncertain about something or have any questions. I am looking back at you from inside (.❛ ᴗ ❛.) with gentle, baby animal eyes. I am delighted we have attracted you to our window.

I understand paired roles pose extra difficulty in the creation process due to their heavy dynamic with another. My advice for how to approach them is writing what you'd like for the basics & history (or what you can), and after acceptance we can go through and adjust things to match up/be cohesive with the other. I won't be demanding super large detailed backstories (unless you want to ofc!) because of this factor. Hopefully that helps you and others out a little!

The character concept I'm sketching in my head is: Bastard of a fast-rising, wealthy merchant family (or maybe a mid to lower noble family), he's had the great luck to be treated to many of the same experiences as his peers, though who knows why his grandfather decided it would be that way. Education, fine clothes, even an arranged marriage to the only heiress of a titled, upper nobility family. But the marriage ended in scandal, and the rumors of 'why' have never been confirmed or denied by either party, lending only fuel to the gossip mill's fire. Now he boards the Leviathan, ticket in hand, supposedly at the behest of his family to go make a scholarly life in Empyra (assuming it is faster to get there by sea than land? I'm not sure the geography). He was always very clever, after all, with history and geography and an innate curiosity about the world.

But he might have his own plans..... Potentially involving a very old map he stole from his (ex)wife's family? This sort of depends on how much of Solas is 'charted territory', but I'm envisioning him as having aspirations as an explorer and cartographer or perhaps treasure hunter/'archaeologist'.

If this doesn't mesh with what's going on, let me know- I love some of the character pitches and would be happy to dig into one of those, or cook up something else instead!

I am in love with this idea of yours, it's a great new approach and something we don't actually have present in the cast. While there is no mention of it, I do envision Solas to have some uncharted land just so I could keep future opportunities open for exploration, so that aspiration of his would work beautifully. I'd say go right ahead with this concept of yours, we are very excited to see it take shape (☆ω☆) !!
