Taking the devil's advocate role, from his point of view, he might be seeing a group of enlisted taking a member of the command staff hostage and hijacking an APC, refusing to stop and talk to him. To the best of my knowledge, we haven't communicated our intent to anyone outside our squad of what we have found and what we are doing.

Psychie Psychie I take it Renner is wearing his ASC armor? What kind is it (meaning which Division is he part of? I didn't think he was GMP)?

Plus... in your world, is it usual for ASC to threaten the lives of GMP personnel like this? In the books, I was given to believe that GMP business was respected. I didn't read anything about other divisions being willing to kill GMP officers in the line of duty. What's changed (if anything)?
Lt. Renner is wearing a more generic light MDC armor that does not show any associations with any particular ASC Army. It provides a total of 50 MDC protection compared to the heavier and more advanced armor you are wearing. As far as you are aware, Renner is one of the older RDF officers and is not one of the ASC team. The number of ASC troops at Anton-17 is still relatively low.

Sherwood Sherwood has pointed out that no one in the base is aware that you are in the middle of a GMP operation, and he is correct. You do have the authorization to move from the one GMP Colonel that Kitty and Nova have been reporting to, but you have not shared any of that info with those in the BSURP outside of your own squad.
Psychie Psychie I find Renner's actions surprising, but... should I? I mean, is this to expected? Have I got something wrong or has Renner gone off the deep end here or what?
As far as he is concerned, he sees a squad kidnapping the highest level NCO of the base and taking her out to an APC for some unknown purpose, possibly to have a loyal Zentraedi soldier get lynched. He is acting to save her life with the lack of any other information to go on.

So... this is the part where we tell him this is GMP business? What's protocol between GMP and RDF?

The RDF is in the process of being phased down in manpower, with some people retiring and others transferring over to the ASC, and the GMP is being built up to be the new global military police and investigative force that it is destined to be. There is some occasional friction between the RDF and GMP, but most will recognize the authority of the new Southern Cross army without too much issue.

Sounds like a "Yes." Thanks! Armed with that, I'll post as Kitty now.

Sorry, I didn't see the post where everybody but me replied.

Psychie Psychie Total meta-game OOC question for our GM here. If it would get in your way to have Kitty or Nova depart Anton-17, I'll change my post. This is what Kitty would do, but it's a game first and that means thinking of the people I play alongside.

What's best for the game, Oh GM Psychie? =)

I would rather not have the team split up. If one goes to Brazilia Base in the chopper, all should go. I just have to decide what direction to go with this.

Psychie Psychie I sure don't mind all of us staying at Anton-17. I'll be disappointed and ol' Kitty will be madder than hell if Antonia magically escapes onboard a helicopter Kitty chose not to get on. But if the best thing were for everyone to stay at Anton-17...

... (My favorite game, "what if?") what if Kitty or Nova (or both) know the GMP officer who just flew in? Say they're better at keeping prisoners out cold and not thinking about escape (or anything else) than either Nova or Kitty? That would convince Kitty to let Antonia go. Smoothly too. In Ghost in the Shell terms, if I'm playing Togusa and Batou shows up to take my prisoner, well hell! Enjoy your flight, buddy!

On the other hand, if for some reason you want 3rd JSOG to all go to Brazilia Base, that'll probably involve a heck of a lot more GMP politics in future posts.

As it stands, you know me, I want everyone to have fun in here. So... the way it looks at the moment? I'm for everyone staying at Anton-17. But I'm not the one sitting behind the GM screen. So just chalk these up to just another player's thoughts. =)

I'll chat more about it if you're in the mood to talk shop. You know how much I enjoy that! =)

She takes a step forward and starts out with, "I don't care what kind of -" before she is stopped by a hand on her shoulder from the Captain. She is still fuming, but is quiet. He says, "Lets take this inside. You five, secure your gear and get to my ready room ASAP."
Psychie Psychie O.K.. I need to know how to have Kitty proceed in this situation, please.

Neither the captain nor the lieutenant are Global Military Police. For reasons I'd rather not get into, I'm strongly under the impression that neither Kitty nor Nova are allowed to tell non-GMP anything at all. This is an open case. It is far from resolved. We have no permission of any kind from our GMP superiors. These two could be generals and it wouldn't change a thing. This is like regular military in Appleseed trying to perhaps get something out of ESWAT or Section 9 - it's not going to happen. If that's their intent, that is.

In other words, I don't think we're allowed to say anything other than, "I'm not at liberty to say" and "please speak to the colonel of Global Military Police."

Now, these officers can try to get all they want out of the rest of 3rd JSOG, including directly ordering Steven, Chris, and Dorsey to spill all. But as sworn law enforcement officers (and military at that), what is expected of us in this game, please? Are things different than in the Real World here?

Sorry in advance for my penchant for details and asking dumb questions like these that only slow down the game while I try and sort it all out.

No worries at all. Just have Kitty cite the fact that she was acting under orders from her GMP superiors, and to address all inquiries to her chain of command, pending the resolution of the investigation.

One of these days I'm going to STOP trusting the RP Nation Alert system to tell me when new posts pop up! It's been more than a week and I was about to post a "Hey! Why no posts?" message in here. Sigh.

Question for Psychie Psychie

Steven doesn't waste any time with small talk as he hurries to the armory to gear up in his megasuit and pull out firearms once more. This time, no stun baton, but instead he elects to go with a LP-10H pistol and an HLW-6 heavy laser and a wearable power pack to get more oomph for the weapon.
You didn't counter this course of action, so I take it each of us has time to NOT to our mecha bay and get our Mega-damage gear? Plus (and this is just a curiosity is all), we were wearing our Mega-suits during the operation. Why wouldn't we wear them, helmets open or off, in front of our leaders? I imagined we had them on the whole time! =)

When we were told to 'secure our gear', I was under the assumption that it would include the suits. If I am wrong, let me know.

Well, actually, bud - of all of us, you'd know the answer to this! While Psychie may change it because it's her game, what was the case in the Robotech cartoon series? Did tankers show up to meetings in their gear or only their uniforms?

I always thought the Mega-suits were distinctly crafted with their "division-look" because they doubled as uniforms. Huh!

But yeah - my main point here is - if we have time to swap out our S.D.C. gear for M.D. gear, why wouldn't we? But do we? Our GM didn't say so and I tend to follow their leads in games.

I don't know how Psy is going to be running things, but in the Robotech cartoon series, unless the troopers were getting ready for a fight or standing by for one, they were in their standard uniforms. I was just going with that.

I had pictured in my mind that you would check your megasuits in at the armory. But on second thought, since you are in a forward firebase, it wouldn't be out of the ordinary to wear your megasuits around the halls, just in case you get a call to action. Your weapons, however, would still be secured in the armory. Since there is no active attack coming in, you all have plenty of time to suit up in your full armor and grab up weapons of your choice that you have the proper WPs for.

So at this point we can safely say that we are in our MDC suits with our personal weapons, correct?

Yes. You all have had a few minutes to gear up and get ready to deploy with your man-portable weapons.

Excellent. I'll stick with my laser pistol and laser Squad Auto Weapon with my suit of armor.
