Realistic or Modern Road Trip IC

Eden leaned back against the trailer as she pulled out her phone, checking her texts. This was about the tenth time she'd checked it in five minutes, but she was impatient. It was 9:30 in the morning and she was waiting in an empty parking lot for the rest of her friends to get there. It was a school lot that had just recently ended, given it was summer, and Eden decided it would be the perfect place to meet up with everyone. But while she was waiting in the silence she was immediately introduced to her own paranoia. Maybe it was too early in the day for everyone to get up? Should she have chosen for them to meet at twelve? What if no one showed up? Maybe this whole thing was a bust and she should just go back home. She hadn't heard from anyone since yesterday, they could have changed their minds. Despite her paranoia, Eden stood her ground, scraping her shoe on the pavement she attempted to think positively.

She was shocked when everyone had responded, saying that they could come. She had only expected a few would be available or even willing to join her, after all, none of them had seen each other in almost five years, they were all practically strangers. But it seemed they all agreed with her, it would be fun to meet up with their old friends from high school. While it wasn't the best years of their lives, she believed they were all really good friends back then, and reuniting with them struck her with the hope that it would be just like in the movies... probably not.

Eden wasn't very good at making plans, but since she was technically the host she had to come up with something. She had gotten a trailer big enough to fit eight people in it. Only to drive, of course, it only seemed to have enough room for three people to sleep comfortably, so they'd probably just stay at motels or camp whenever they made a stop. She hadn't really considered anything else, and planned to just make it up as they went along, but either way, she hoped that the trip would go smoothly and that they would all have fun.

Eden slowly fell down to the ground, holding her knees up to her chest and adjusting her fedora as she waited for her friends.

. Katherine woke up to her alarm at 8 and groaned before sitting up in bed and rubbing her eyes. She checked her phone trying to figure out why she had set an alarm for this time, but when she saw her bags packed in the corner of her room she grinned and remembered today was the day. Katherine put her phone down and got up moving into her bathroom to get ready. She applied the minimal amount of makeup and decided to leave her hair sitting in its natural curls. Once dressed and ready Katherine moved down to the kitchen and made herself a cup of tea and some toast. Once finished her breakfast Katherine looked at the time it was 9.10, she still had loads of time. Katherine moved upstairs and getting her bags. "MATT GET UP!!" She screamed as she banged on the door of Matthews bedroom. She heard a lot of groaning and movement from his room before the door opened and a dressed but sleepy Matthew stood in front of her. "I hate you" He mumbled as he walked past her and went downstairs to grab his keys.
At 9.35 Katherine pulled into the school car park and saw Eden standing beside her car with a big trailer attached. "See ya" She said to Matthew before hopping out of the car and grabbing her bags.
"Eden!" She greeted as she walked over and hugged the girl. It had been nearly five years since she had seen her and Kath didnt realise until now how much she had missed her old friends.

Diyanara laid in bed, asleep. She hadn't remembered her plans for today until her radio turned on to her favorite channel. She slowly rolled over, looking at the time. Her eyes widened as she realized that she was late and she shot out of bed. Her curly hair laid across her face, and she wiped the hair off of her forehead. She stretched, standing up, and bringing her tired body towards the bathroom, she shut the door. With that, she grabbed her tooth brush- applying as much toothpaste as she needed for an entire day, and smiled in the mirror, showing off her pearly white teeth. After washing her face with numerous pore treatments and fixing her hair, she hadn't bothered with her makeup. She put on a baggy white shirt with some college name printed on the front, the school's quote pasted on the back, and some baggy jeans. She grabbed her off white suitcase and headed for her bedroom door, grabbing a small matching bag along with it.

After placing the bags against the front door, she walked to her shoes, hopping towards the kitchen as she tied the laces. She opened her cold and empty refrigerator, frowning at her lack of food. She shrugged it off, tying the second shoelace. She swore a bit as she realized she had forgotten her laptop, running back into her bedroom. She shoved it into a small tote bag, along with her phone charger and- shit! Her phone. She also shoved her makeup bag, some hairbrushes, her face washes, and her tooth brush. She ran, with the bag in hand, over to her suitcase, shoving the small tote into the larger bag- she had a lot of bags. She opened the door, groaning as she ran to grab her keys. As she ran towards the dimly lit elevator of her shabby apartment building, she got out her phone and proceeded to call a taxi company. By the time she had stated her location, name, and method of payment, she was already downstairs at the front of the building. After a tedious half hour, a cab finally pulled up to the front of her home. She waited for him to help her with her bags, but he sat in the front of with both hands on the steering wheel. She walked up to the window, knocking on it, and he looked at her before slowly turning down the radio and rolling down the window. "Yes?" He said in his obviously foreign accent.

"My bags?" She said, impatiently. She put her phone in her mouth and grabbed all of her bags as he popped the trunk open- still refusing to get out of his car. She nodded sarcastically and gave a smile before walking to the back of his car, struggling, but succeeding in putting her bags in. She walked to the side, popping open the door. "He-" She was interrupted as she sat down by his loud and booming voice.

"Location." He said, already speeding off from the front of her building. She read Eden's text aloud and he sped off in the direction towards her old High School. They passed nice shops that she was quite familiar of, and faces she wasn't so familiar of. Finally, they pulled into the parking lot and she saw Eden and- she squinted to make out the face. Katherine? She gave a small chuckle as Katherine pulled Eden in an embrace, remembering Katherine's sweet demeanor. She was snapped out of her reminiscing by the driver's voice. "Money." He demanded, and she grabbed all of the money in her pocket, putting it in his hand. She quickly got out, slamming the palm of her hand on the trunk of his car. It swung open, and she barely dodged the flying trunk door. She grabbed her bags as the sun shined in her face and the wind carried her hair as if it were flying.

Pierce hadn't remembered how much the loved hotel showerd until he got in this one. He'd gotten up at seven to be sure he'd have plenty of time but the minute the water hit him and brisk shower was out of the question. He'd been in their almost an hour when Lila's sharp voice cut off his belting of, "Dear Maria, count me in".

"Yo, Houdini, you're going to be late. You take as long as me!" Pierce cursed under his breath and reluctantly turned shower off, hopping out and drying himself off. With a white hotel towel around his waist, he plugged in the blow drier as he yelled back to Lila.

"Sorry, Liles, I'll be out in a minute." He heard the woman huff, muttering about men and their incompetence. He was greatful she and Cutter had come along, not to sound rude, they'd dropped their schedule to drive out here with him. They and the rest of the group had been stuck in Miami for almost two years and he welcomed the upcoming trip. He was used to travelling, that was one of the best thing about their group, the travelling right next to actually acting.

By the time his hair was blow dried, his body dressed, and he was down the elevator and exiting the hotel, duffel slung over his shoulder. Pierce looked up at the hotel as he walked away and sighed, his parents were away for the summer and hadn't trusted him and his "drifter" friends to stay in the house alone. Otherwise, Pierce would've shacked up in his childhood mansion of a home.

Lila was leaning up against the passenger side of his old Mustang they'd driven out here, her foot tapping impatiently against the concrete. Cutter was already in the back, his head bent and red hair tumbling into his face as he hunched over his phone no doubt.

"Greetings, Sleeping Beauty, glad you could make it." Lila stalked around to the drivers side and practically slamped the door, revving the engine. Pierce slid into the passenger seat and smiled at his co-star.

"You know, with all the chemistry we have on stage you think you'd be nicer to me." He chuckled and Lila glared at him.

"I have a girlfriend." Lila focused back to the front as she pulled away from the hotel. Pierce burst out laughing and Cutter grabbed his shoulder, shaking it.

"Ohh, gay zoned!" The boys continued laughing until Lila shot them both daggers with her silver eyes. The rest of the drive was silent and the minute the pulled up to the parking lot in front of Eden's trailer where it seemed Katherine and Diyanara had already arrived. Pierce smiled at his friends, giving Cutter a fist bump and wrapping an arm around Lila's tense shoulders for a squeeze.

"See y'all." He grabbed his duffel from the floor and his guitar from between his legs as he climbed out of the car. They told him goodbye and drove off. Pierce turned to greet his old friends with a smile and bow, "Morning, ladies!"

The bland, pre-prepared breakfast was staring back up at him. Jamarus sighed, plopping some of it onto his plate. The people around him seemed to be munching away happily but when you could make your own food, this crap seemed terrible. It had barely even been cooked, it was probably just instant eggs and some pre cooked bacon. He pulled out his phone from his pocket, looking at the time. It was 7AM, he still had plenty of time to do whatever he needed to do.

J had to take a plane to get back to the town where their old high school was. After his injury, he had distanced himself from all of his friends and his mother and him had moved back to their hometown. When he had gotten the invite to come on this road trip he had talked to his mother about it at first. She refused to let him not go. "Boy you haven't had a vacation in years. You're going." "Who's going to take care of you though?" "No one needs to take care of me! I'm fine!" Jamarus had given up shortly after that. There was no point arguing with his mother, she was as stubborn as he was.

After he was done forcing his food down, he returned back up to his room. He hadn't set an alarm clock for work, he was just used to waking up at early hours. Going to school in the mornings and working nights didn't let you sleep in very much. J went through his bags, trying to decide on what he wanted to wear. He eventually decided on a plain white polo and some jeans. Keep it simple for the first day. He carried the clothes into the bathroom, taking a quick shower. With that done he went through the rest of his morning routine. By the time he was ready to go iit was 8AM. He didn't know how long it would take to get there, though his phone said only 30 minutes.

The man called up the same taxi company he had used to get to the hotel. He pulled out a hat from his bag, putting it on his head. Today's hat would be a Star Wars snapback. He left the room, handing in his key and checking out with the person at the front desk. The taxi was there rather quickly and J threw his stuff into the trunk. After climbing in the back and checking the address just to be sure, the taxi began to drive off. While on the car ride J decided to call his mom since it would probably be awhile before he got another chance. The woman on the other end picked up nearly on the first ring. "Hey baby! Are you with everyone yet?" "Nah, on the way to see them right now." "Well I hope you have fun!" "I will Ma. Remember you can call up Seth anytime and he'll bring you some food."

They shared a few more words before something surprised J. He could have sworn he'd seen this street before. Not that he remembered it, but that they'd already been down this street. "Hey mom I'll call you back." Jamarus hung up the phone and watched the street a few more seconds to make sure he was right. "Hey man, we're going in circles." The taxi guy blinked, looking down at his GPS. It was definitely broken, telling him to pull a Uturn on the road they had been on for 5 minutes. "Oh crap. You're right." With that began an hour of lost driving in the taxi. By the time Jamarus finally arrived at the parking lot it seemed like he was pretty late. He had wanted to be the first one there so that he could watch everyone roll in.

Small silver lining, the taxi driver didn't make J pay for the trip. With a thanks and grabbing his luggage from the trunk, J walked towards his old friends. Just looking at all the nostalgia from high school made his leg throb in pain a little more than usual. "Hey guys."

Eden was a little shocked when Katherine had hugged her, hell, she hadn't even realized anyone was there yet. She was too engrossed in her phone wondering when anyone would arrive. Once she processed that it was only Katherine and not some crazy kidnapper she hugged her back. "Kath! It's so good to see you!" She said taking a step back, she glanced over Kath's shoulder to see Diyanara not that far from where they stood.

"Diyanara, you made it!" Eden exclaimed, pulling her friend in to join the hug. She was sure she was smiling like a complete idiot but it didn't bother her. All of her worries went out the window as more people began to arrive. Why was she worried again? People were showing up, why would they say they could come and then not show up anyways? They weren't bad people. She released herself from the hug just as Pierce arrived. He bowed and Eden quickly responded with an enthusiastic tip of the hat, Jamarus arrived soon after.

"It's really great to see you guys again!" She said, pausing for a moment before flicking the edge of her fedora. She reached in the back pocket of her jeans and pulled out her keys, unlocking the trailer door. "Not everyone is here yet, but you guys can put your stuff inside here." She said opening it and pulling down the stairs.

"Its great to see you too!"Katherine grinned at Eden before turning around to face Diyanara, She gave Diyanara a hug, before Kath had time to speak, she heard a car pull up "Pierce" she called as she watched him get out of the car, after he bowed Katherine gave him a hug "Are you still acting too?" She asked. Not long after she saw someone else approaching their group and looked over to see it was Jamarus "hey" she replied in greeting before giving him a quick hug also. She probably seemed a bit weird hugging them all especially since it had been nealy five years since she saw them last, but these were the friends who literally got her through high school and she was over joyed to see them.
As Eden spoke up Katherine followed her over to the trailer and threw her bags in before returning to where she had been standing previously.

Diyanara was a small person- frigid and short. She had always been thin, never able to gain weight. So when she was pretty much mauled by Katherine's open arms, she fell stiff, almost falling backwards. But she smiled and caught herself, dropping her bags to hug Katherine back. "It's good to see you, too." She smiled against her brunette hair. After the embrace ended, she looked to Eden, hugging her as well. Afterwards, she picked her bags back up, following Eden to the compartment of her trailer. She threw her bags in, pulling her baggy jeans up her small and dainty waste. She smiled to Katherine before hearing a familiar voice behind her. She turned and saw J approaching the group, smiling in his direction. She walked towards him, a smile from ear to ear.

Jamarus was surprised by the turnout already. He couldn't remember how many people were all invited, and Eden had said this wasn't even all of them. He was excited to see all of his friends again but the idea of all of them being packed up in a trailer was a bit worrisome. You spend a long time with anyone in a close spot like that, they'll tend to get on your nerves. The man's eyes shifted from the trailer when a girl threw her arms around him. He grinned, setting his bags down beside him and returning the hug. "Hey Katherine! You haven't aged a bit." He said truthfully, before the girl walked off to pack her things into the trailer.

J thought to follow and do the same, picking up his bags again. He began walking toward the trailer when a familiar sight filled his vision. Her smile was contagious, and he found himself grinning just as much as she was. "There she is." He threw his bags on the ground again, quickly closing the gap between himself and Diya. "Hey girl. I haven't talked to you in forever!" He stood in front of her, towering over the shorter female with a stupid grin on his face.

"You look good." She raised an eyebrow, smirking. She hugged his waste, since that was as tall as she got. She chuckled against his chest, the familiar scent of him overtaking her senses. She pulled away, letting him put his things away.

Jamarus' smile only widened at the compliment, if that was even possible. "Not as good as you." With that he gave a wink and turned the hug, squeezing the girl gently against him. Once she stepped away he gave a small wave before returning to where he had dropped his bags and picked them back up. J moved into the trailer, finding an empty bed to set his stuff on. he wasn't trying to claim it or anything, he just didn't want to leave it on the floor where someone could trip over. While they all waited for everyone to show up he went about exploring the small space where they would be spending most of their time for the next week.

Pierce greeted Jamarus with an incline of his head and a lopsided grin, after excepting Katherine's hug by wrapping his arms around the smaller girls shoulders and giving her a squeeze, before trudging over and shoving his things in the trailer. He trailed Katherine as he spoke, answering the question she'd asked him with plain excitement slapped across his features.

"Totally, those people who dropped me of are a couple of my friends from the group. I loved it, couldn't be any happier in Miami." He chuckled, shoving his hands in his pockets and rocking forward on his toes. He subconciously muttered "apologize" under his breath, a habit he'd had since he was little. "What about you?"

Kianna's eyes fluttered open. Her hair was a mess and her pillow was stained with her drool.
She looked at her phone to see the time. "Damn I don't wanna be late!" She said. She rolled out of bed and went straight to her bathroom to shower. Once Kianna was done she picked out an outfit. She chose a salmon colored mini skirt with a striped shirt on top. She then looked back at her phone to check the time. "Crap! I'm supposed to be there!" She said as she quickly put on her makeup and did her hair.

She quickly called an uber and grabbed her bags. Thank god she packed them the night before. She walked down to the hotel lobby to wait. Once she got the notification that her uber was there, she set foot in the car while her driver got her bags. While she was waiting to reach her destination she thought to herself, 'I wonder how much has changed" Kianna kind of drifted apart from the group. She moved to New York and carried on with her life. She still tried to catch up once in a while, but they never met up.

Once she got to the meet up place she looked out the window to see a few of them. Some looked the same and others looked different. She finally opened to door and yelled "HEY GIRL HEY" to grab their attention.

Eden went inside the trailer as everyone laid down their things, there were cabinets where they could put their stuff in, but that could wait till later. She was smiling so hard that her whole face started to hurt, not that she cared. It was exciting seeing everyone again, in her head she ran over all the things they could do. They could go camping, visit festivals, flea markets, and do all kinds of things. She just hoped that everyone would be up for it, they should have though... I mean, it's a road trip.

Eden listened to Katherine and Pierce's conversation, she was interested in what everyone was doing now, she was just a mere freelancer. But just by looking at everyone and seeing how they changed, they've probably gotten pretty far in five years. "Nice to know you're still acting Pierce!" She said giving him a light tap on the back. Her attention was taken by someone shouting at the door and her smile widened, if possible, when she saw Kianna.

"Kianna!" She exclaimed as she went over to the door and pulled her into a hug.

Diyanara leaned against the trailer with her phone in her hand. She heard noise but was too busy texting her father- assuring him that she'd be okay and that she'd come home safe. Her curly bangs laid in her face as she continued to text. Finally, she put her phone away and looked up to see Eden and Kianna in an embrace. She smiled, her cheeks flustered at how many of her old friends had come. At this moment, she was truly happy to be alive- which is something she couldn't say throughout these hard few years. She grabbed a headband that was strapped around her wrist, and put her hair up in a large curly bun, something that almost resembled a birds nest, or so she'd been told. Her bangs still laid on her forehead and she finally began to approach Kianna and Eden. She was worried that Kianna wouldn't remember her, so her approach was slow.

Katherine laughed at Jamarus' comment about her not ageing "Why, thank you, lots of surgery" she joked.
Katherine listened intently to what Pierce said turning to him with a grin on her face "Aw that's brilliant, I'm delighted for you" she saw him mutter something under his breath and she guessed she knew what it was so she decided not to bring attention to it. "Yeah Im still trying to break in, I've had a few minor roles in television shows and commericals" she said with a shrug. "How great would it be if we could do a movie together!" She exclaimed almost a little too excitedly.
Katherine jumped slightly when she heard someone shout and turned to see Eden hugging Kianna, once the girls came over to them, Kath hugged Kianna in greeting "Kianna, how are you?"

Kianna was taken back from Eden's hug, but quickly hugged her back. "Oh I've missed you so much!" She said. After hugging Eden she turned to hug Katherine. "I'm doing good! I have an ok job. How 'bout you?" She asked. Their hug was cut short when Kianna saw a figure walking towards them. The sun was blocking her vision so she put on her sunglasses. She looked over to see Diyanara walking up to her. "Hey girl!" Kianna said as she ran up to hug her. "Ahhh this if just like the olden days. I really missed this. Even though New York is big, it's quite lonely." She said.

She was relieved that Kianna remembered her, and she hugged her tightly. She sighed into Kianna's big hair, smiling. "I've missed this too." She pulled back, looking around. "I've missed all of you." She exclaimed. She whispered to the girls, "Did you see Pierce? He looks A LOT better than he did in High School." She giggled softly.

Eden rolled her eyes at Diyanara, in a playful way of course. "He may look better than he was in high school, but I don't want to feel like I'm in high school." She said jokingly before breaking out of the group and hopping back into the trailer. She awkwardly made her way to the back of the trailer, it was pretty small near the back and she probably looked like an idiot having to squeeze her way through the door and climb onto the large bed. She reached up to one of the cabinets and opened it, forcing out a large plastic box, falling onto her back as she did so, the bed breaking her fall. Hopefully, no one was watching that.

Eden climbed her way back pulling the box with her. It wasn't that heavy as it was big, she could probably carry it with ease. She looked over her shoulder and shouted; "We're probably gonna be waiting here awhile so I'm bringing out some chairs!" She got the box through the door and carried it outside the trailer.

Jamarus blinked, watching Eden slip by him into the trailer. She must not have seen him as she began trying to pick something up from the back of the trailer. He thought to ask her if she needed help but he shrugged and decided if she did she'd ask. J made his way back out of the trailer.

He hadn't heard anyone pull up or he would have come out sooner. When he saw Kianna a smile found it's way back onto his face and he moved closer to the group of girls, giving a small wave. "Hey girl, haven't seen you in a minute." He was genuinely glad to see all of his old friends brought together like this, though he'd made no attempt to talk to them recently. He would have stayed to talk but he heard Eden coming out of the trailer over his shoulder. "Let me get that for you." He began walking towards Eden to help lighten her load.

Asleep, at the kitchen table, was a restless Warren and before him was about ten bills, the majority of them being hospital bills. With his mother sick, and both him and his sister attending college, money was a dearly needed item. Thankfully, working part-time as his professor's assistant provides enough cash to keep the bills at bay and keep their house, along with the appliances. Just a few hours ago, an old friend from high school, Eden, invited Warren to go on a road trip with her and some other friends. In that moment, Warren saw every reason to attend, but then he thought a little longer about it. If he did end up going on this trip, then how were the bills going to get paid? In spite of Warren's hope to relax for the Summer, he just couldn't.

Abruptly, his twin sister plopped down a plate of French toast and strawberries, right in Warren's sight, as his eyes began to ruffle open from a soothing nap. A small, villainous--yet harmless--smirk crossed Warren's face. If he had to choose his favorite food, it'd, without a doubt, be French toast; the strawberries were a complimentary side dish as well. "Well, are you going to sit there and smell them, or are you going to be Warren and devour the plate itself.", she joked. Warren didn't have to say anything, he just followed orders and went straight to eating. "So listen, I know how much you wanted to go on that road trip, and see your friends again," Isabella, Warren's sister, said "which is why I want you to go, and don't worry about money. With my new job, I'll be able to cover everything.". Warren was obviously taken back by her care towards Warren needing a break, then again, she might just want to throw a party. "That's great and all, but I didn't even pack yet. Besides, everyone's probably there and on the road by now.", he countered. "On the contraire Warr. I packed your bags while you were sleeping and I called an Uber for you. He'll be here innnnnn, twenty minutes. I'd get ready if I were you.", she warned. Just like before, Warren didn't have to respond with words, he just followed directions (if you couldn't tell by now, Warren is the more submissive twin).

The empty plate that once housed his breakfast was in the sink, along with the silverware that Warren used as well. As for Warren, he dashed up the stairs and to his room, where he saw a black duffel bag and a black backpack lying at the foot of his bed. His phone, sitting on his nightstand, charging, was at full percentage and was ready for the day, unlike it's owner. Warren scrambled to his closet where he chose his outfit for the day. His clothes in one hand, and his phone in the other, Warren made a B-line for the bathroom, to take a quick shower and listen to music--a beloved tradition of Warr's--in the process. Within five minutes, Warr had finished his shower and was fully clothed for the day. Warr returned to his room where he snatched his bags and headed for the front door, where he'd wait for his Uber to arrive. When the Uber arrived, Warren threw his bags, and himself, in the backseat and gave the address to the high school. The tires squealed as Warren added he was in a hurry, and just like that, the Uber blasted off in the direction of the high school.

Nearly eight minutes later, Warren had arrived to the high school parking lot. There, he gazed upon the stretched out school in which he used to attend, along with the his old friends who gathered around a trailer. The Uber driver smiled in the rear view mirror and said, "You have arrived, my friend.". Warren just gave a small nod and gleefully stepped out of the vehicle, his bags in his hands. "There room for one more?", Warr joked.

Once Eden got the damn box through the door she was no longer struggling with it, and smiled sweetly when Jamarus offered to help her. "No thanks" she said tossing the box lightly in her hands "light as a feather!"

Edens attention was caputer by Warren, who had finallt arrived. "Warren!" She exclaimed, she moved to hug him but paused, realizing she still had a box in her hand. She quickly set it down and repeated her earlier statement "Warren!" and pulling him into a hug. It didnt last long as she quickly broke free of it and went over to the box and opened it. Taking out retractable chairs from it. They werent the most comfortable, but they were handy when you didnt have a lot of room.

Katherine turned to see Eden struggling with a box she was taking out off the trailer, she was going to offer her help but Jamarus beat her too it. Katherine heard a car pull up and turned in time to see Warren getting out of the car. A grin took over her features as he walked towards them, she let Eden greet him before running over towards them "Warren!" she said excitedly as she hugged him, she took a step back so she could look at him and smiled "How's life? What are you up to?" She asked him. She couldn't get over how great it felt to see everyone, she was happy to be back with them and was delighted that Eden had organised this. Katherine heard a noise behind her and turned to see Eden taking chairs out off the box that she had been carrying, Katherine couldn't help the laugh that came out "You came really prepared" She teased, while she said it teasingly, Kath was actually really impressed with how much thought Eden had put into this, if Katherine had been the organizer she wouldn't have thought of half the things that Eden had brought.
