The Unkillables seem a (surprisingly) popular choice. Is there anyone who'd prefer a smaller preexisting group or would prefer each character be doing their own thing and then meet up 'during play' due to the shared history of living through the Future That Was?
I like that the Unkillables will give us a bit of direction from the get go since I feel that too much sandbox have a tendency to be unfocused and maybe flounder.

Oh uh- where are y’all finding images? Because I am…. Rather lost. I always struggle with pictures.
I have a bunch of my favorite artists on deviantart bookmarked and usually start there and click around until I find one of them or a suggested related image I like. In this case that didn't work for me though, so I just googled a description and was led to Pinterest where I clicked around a bunch until I found something I liked. Then I did a reverse image search to find the original which turned out to be on deviantart. The circle of unattributed art...

I agree!

Yeah, I have to do that too, but dang it, this artwork and music and whatever else didn't appear into the universe by itself. It really turns me off when I can't give credit because no one out there seems to know who created it. On a positive note though, that is a rare event. =)

BTW Purr Purr I'm not sure I understand how you see Chan-Chan in the two timelines. From my understanding you want her to be untainted by the Future that Was, which means that she would have left Tolkeen shortly after the speech, right?

But in this new Future That Might Be, her time-senses tell her that something is changed and she stays in Tolkeen, quickly meets up with the rest of the party and joins in?

How exactly does that work with the Unkillables? Is she part of them the first time around or joins once she realises that's where the time-loop-weirdness-people are?

Esbilon Esbilon Not "untainted," - more than that - Chan-Chan is not included in that story. At all. Anywhere. =)

Please see this post? Epiphany is right on target for the entire post! I think she clears this up with her words better than I do my own. =)

Ah, allow me to provide two answers here - what I'm seeing and what I would prefer:

What I'm seeing: The answers to these questions quoted above are, in my opinion, completely in Pip's lap. I feel comfortable providing answers to her questions along with voicing preferences. Ultimately, because I am a Player here, I am open to having Chan-Chan in any way that makes Pip's' life easier and is best for her story.

What I would prefer:

1. In The Future That Is, her time-senses tell her whatever Pips says they tell her. That seems to be a strong way for Pips to get Chan-Chan to notice that something odd, awful, and awesome has happened to the team during the Speech (if I read her right). That's a cool way to link us all up, especially if 2. is true.

2. Chan-Chan is not in any party anywhere at start of game. Chan-Chan has lived in Tolkeen for years as a Pre-Rifts artifacts and magic item specialist working at a library, pawn shop, or preferably the best place in Tolkeen to do that kind of work. The team has interacted before with Chan-Chan at her job and they have a layer of trust between them. I would like it if the team is one of many that have come to Chan-Chan for information that would help them before they head out on their dangerous quests and to sell their goodies to Tolkeen to upon their (hopeful return).

If 2. is true, this also might accomplish another benefit to having her in the party - she has knowledgeable contacts within the city. Co-workers, mentors, fellow adventurers, etc. whom she has a working relationship with that Pips might use as a network to add to our adventures.

Concerning the Unkillables, what if a few of the Unkillables were part of Chan-Chan's network of adventurers? Like the team, perhaps these few Unkillables have trusted her with information that may decide their life or death, so someone comes up with the bright idea of "hire that chick before somebody else does, stupid!" That might be her "in" with the Unkillables if one is required?

3. (And this is a new idea I've come up with tonight.) If it is convenient for Pips, and if 1. and 2. are true, then Chan-Chan seeing the team in clear trouble at the Speech (at least from her perspective), can get them the heck out of the public eye and into some quiet place where the team can sit down in safety and figure out what the hell just happened and how in God's name are they back in 101 P.A. when they should all be dead or close to it. That instance - right there - is where we as Players might have our characters really getting to know each other (since we haven't typed a single word into in-game yet). Also, this is perhaps where the team shares their story, Chan-Chan overhears it and doesn't think they've lost their damned minds, and I suppose an offer is made for her to join the team which she accepts?

Bottom line: As far as I am concerned, all of this is for Epiphany Epiphany Pips to decide. It's her game, her story. I'm just an appreciative Player here. =)
Any of this sound like fun? =)

Interesting choice. If you want to be a preeminent shapechanger and it's worth it to you to invest in it, go for it. It's fine with me, thanks for asking!
Epiphany Epiphany I meant to mention this - that percentage (now 106%) is not for the chance to transform (that's automatically successful) - the percentage is for the following (copied from Dragons & Gods, p22):

"The dragon's shape-changing prowess is so great that it can try to copy/imitate a particular person or specific animal at a skill proficiency of 10% +5% per level of experience." (just double-checking my math here. 10 + 45 + 35 + 16 = 106%)

This is for those cool moments when the Coalition is running through some ruins, chasing after one of us (say, a fleeing Doctor Praya). Following her, they come around a corner and halt in shock when they find two Doctor Prayas looking at them - who then speed off in different directions!

and i hope the clothes arent off too bad.

Also, I fleshed out a bit more detail on Freehold (the city of the Dragons that's literally right next to Tolkeen across the river).

I've also put out a working draft of the Unkillables. I'm still fleshing out the other Megaversal Operatives a bit but figured you guys might enjoy some reading in the meantime. Feedback is welcome! I want a group that's workable for you all (reporters and doctors aside).

They're both in the Lore thread.

Epiphany Epiphany Re: Chan-Chan backstory. Does any of this work for you? Or should I begin thinking of something else? =)

Sherwood Sherwood Hey Bud! RP Nation thinks you're on and watching this thread so I figured I would ask you. If you were playing a dragon hatchling character like mine, and the Game Master asked you to create a hoard of items, what might you choose?

This question is really open to anybody here because I find you all to be creative people, but I'm pinging Sherwood... because I can! Wooohah! Sherwood Sherwood Sherwood Sherwood Sherwood Sherwood =)

Really, Bud, did you want normal friends? Because none of us are! =)

I second the none of us are normal part!

now, if i were a dragon, i'd collect items from the old world that may not nesecaraly be the most valuable, i'd take sentimental things. photographs of families, journals and memoirs of people, children's toys. these people from before the rifts, they were people too, and i'd want to know their lives, and be reminded how similar they were to our own.

but thats just me personally. i dunno. im very tired, and tomorrow is the last day where i have to wake up at the unholy hour of six in the damn morning. good riddance to that!

Lol Purr Purr you are a funny guy. Got to love ya.

There are a lot of techno-wizardry items that are not necessarily weapons, but are still useful. Plus there are the crystal items in the Atlantean book (communication crystal, life wand, etc) that are handy to have.

That assumes you are not interested in having a weapon. Are you wanting some kind of attack item? There are numerous items that you could get. What are you looking for?

All of that works for me. An interesting hook occurred to me. Chan-Chan is fascinated by pre-Rifts history. The Unkillables are led by a man who lived a number of years in Pre-Rifts Earth. He likes talking about the past so easy point in common.

EmperorNorton1 EmperorNorton1 Alex, lady, get your buns to bed if you're bushed! I'm glad for your schedule change, but don't you overdo it, all righty? =)

Sherwood Sherwood Good ideas on the Atlantean items - I was thinking along Alex's Pre-Rifts "people" lines and the idea of crystal magic did cross my mind.

Weapons. Ahhh... I am of two minds about this and I find them compatible:

1. To be armed and dangerous in a game like Rifts is not only prudent, but quite reasonable.

2. It would be kind of dumb for me to have a hoard of items green-lighted to me by a trusting Game Master who not only knows I won't abuse it, but also... the hoard is her idea! How cool is that? =)

o rly??? =) Wow! Fascinating! Epiphany Epiphany

If at all possible, and if you think he would get along with her, I can imagine Chan-Chan eagerly offering her archaeology/anthropology education his way, be it recording his talks, doing digs in spots he recommends, or anything she might help him with at the library/pawn shop!

There is a TW sword called the Battle Fury blade.
These weapons are usually Claymore swords. It is deadly in battle, inflicting serious damage with every hit. However, its special ability, the Battle Fury, makes it fearsome beyond belief.
Weight: 7 lbs
Mega Damage: 6d6 MD +1d4x10+10 from energy crystal
MDC: 200, regenerates 20 MDC per day
Powers: By channeling 40 PPE into the weapon, the wielder can invoke the Battle Fury. While this fearsome ability is active, the weapon inflicts a whopping 1d6x10 MD with every hit. In addition, every time the wielder makes an attack with the sword, they get two attacks instead of one; the weapon striking with blistering speed (opponents are -5 to parry the unexpected, super-quick, second attack). Finally, for the duration of the enchantment, they are encased in a suit of magical force with 100 MDC.
The Battle Fury lasts for 12 melee rounds/3 minutes.

Epiphany Epiphany
Team Leads are then encouraged to coordinate with Intelligence,
What?! A game of Rifts where the Intelligence Skill actually gets used? Are you serious? If so, I can swap out a skill somewhere for this.
Mascot: A terrier named Rags.
I am in love with Rags!
Executive Officer 1st Lieutenant Rico de La Garza was born in Chi-Town and served in the Coalition Army for a time. He's never explained how he gained his psychic powers or how he met the Colonel but the two seem to be connected and the rumor mill never stops on the subject. He's a charming middle-aged soldier, Hispanic, with thick dark hair and a neat beard. He favors a suit of NG-EX10 Gladius LIght Exo-Skeleton Battle Armor in the field, uses Coalition rifles but he's famed for a psychic ability to cause explosions with his mind.
This information has been posted twice. (Detailed-oriented Dann)
and 10% are aerial combat vehicles such as the Sky King , helicopters and jet packs.
Plus...
Communications and available reserves based on anticipated need provide additional support once the mission is underway. The Unkillables have several aircraft and can typically pull together an additional Megaversal Operative team for extra firepower within minutes of the request, with high-speed flight time the only barrier to Megaversal reinforcements.
O.K.. What are they using to pull this off?

As a Real Life fan of Vietnam's MACV-SOG, I want to join this bunch so much it's making my head spin! =) Chan-Chan (seeing as the folks are Unprincipled and Scrupulous) is largely in the same boat as me but for different reasons.

Sherwood Sherwood Wow! Talk about awesome! I forgot about this blade. Honestly, that might be too much - it does even more damage than the Sword of Atlantis you chose for Freya. That Battle Fury ability just takes it over the top!

Yeah... when looking at weapons, I've been checking out Energy Rifles along with W.P. Blunt and W.P. Sword (specifically one-handed swords as she always needs one hand to cast - sure, a claymore might be just fine because she has Supernatural Strength). Most of the weapons I've been finding for her cause conditions like the Shockwave or Gust of Wind spell.

There are some good TW energy weapons in the Federation of Magic book like the Nova Rifle and the Force Cannon. Both so good ranged damage.

The reason I went with the Sword of Atlantis is that it handles both my melee and ranged attack needs, and it is effective against vampires, but I doubt that they will be a major concern in this game.
