Sherwood Sherwood Rail gun cannons (like those of SAMAS units) tend to have long barrels. If Grad is within hand-to-hand range and did not use his Paired Weapons attack, would he be allowed a parry against a rail gun blast?

I think it would, but right now, we have one of the baddies wrapped up. I would say lets trash the two Conservators (or at least one of them) before you do that. Your call, though.

Normally I would say that you couldn't parry a rail gun shot with a sword, but in melee you can try to knock the barrel aside and keep it from being able to track on you.

Yes. That's what I meant (by long barrel vs. sword). Thanks! =)

Forgy Forgy , you need to give Dannigan a nod of thanks. He was able to find the rule in the book that canceling spells is an immediate effect, so it won't use up an action! Go ahead and do your attack that would have gone off when you canceled the spell.

Great dealio, thanks Purr Purr ! I don't know these things, but it seems sensible to be able to cancel a spell AND act, so thanks for looking that up! I accidentally threw twice on the Strike, but the 13 was first.

And no, I'm not calling a shot! I didn't know that was a thing. 😂 It's just flair, really.
Ok, just wanted to make sure! Didn't want to screw you out of a headshot if you were doing that.

Your damage was too low, though. With the Staff, you add the 5d6 of your Strength damage to the 5d6 Staff damage for a total of 10d6.

You first rolled only half the damage you need to. The grand total of your two dice pools is 10d6.

With that, I'm off to get some dinner with the fam. I'll be back on later on tonight!

Forgy Forgy You're welcome! A hunch nagged at me and I just followed it (to page 188 in Rifts Ultimate Edition should anyone need it). =)

And yes, roll 10d6 in 1 roll. This is similar to Gradicus's Wintertime/short sword (3D6 damage) + 4D6 (Gradicus's supernatural strength damage) is added together for a 7d6 M.D. strike (if successful).

Can't wait to find out what Smoochie does with that 1... =)

Wow - stuff exploded over night, apparently. I shall begin to take down that gargoyle immediately.

Dragon? Check. Serpent Armor? Check. Gargoyle? Check. I'll catch 'em all!

On a side note: I love that spell - was a bit worried about the save, though, the post sounded like that thing had a decent chance to dodge. Now I just need to figure out if two minutes are enough to stab that thing to death...

Since it is immobilized, you can go ahead and perform a finishing strike on it. I was actually expecting to have another prolonged fight on my hands, but this looks like it will be over fairly quickly.

What would I need to roll for that? Seems like the best option, given that the gargoyle would certainly catch up with us at some point.
